Chapter 6 – Getting Burned

Over the next few days, Regina administered potions to Henry that had him feeling much better. She noticed that Emma seemed to stay with her son, though she did have meals with Regina and Maleficent – who just wouldn't seem to leave. Finally, after two weeks, Regina smiled at mother and son. "He is fully healed."

Henry, who was playing with some toys, stood and hugged Regina. "Thank you for saving me. Is it true that Mommy and I get to stay here forever?"

"It is true, if that's what you want." Regina said, kneeling down. "Henry, I'd like you to be king of the Black Kingdom when you're older. Is that something you'd like?"

He smiled wide and nodded. "Yes, your majesty! My mommy said something about that."

"Henry, you can call me Regina." She said and stood. "Now, I know it was nice for you two to share a room while Henry was sick, but Emma, I was wondering if you'd be okay with Henry having his own now?"

"Can I mommy?"

"You don't wanna share with me anymore?" Emma asked, giving a pout.

"Mommy, 'wanna' isn't a word." He said and Regin had to stifle a laugh. "I want my own room, if that's okay."

Emma sighed and looked at Regina. "Is there one close? It's just that I don't want him too far from me."

"Actually, I was thinking he could have this one and you can have one more suited to you. However, I feel as though I may be stepping out of place and I am sorry for that. I didn't mean to take over your job."

"You didn't. You're the queen, Regina, and this is your palace."

Regina sighed and looked at Henry. "Can I borrow your mother for just a few moments?"

"Sure." He went back to playing with his toys.

Emma followed Regina out into the hall and down the corridor. "My room is here, and I just thought maybe you'd like the room across from mine. It's larger and is more fit for a Queen." She looked at Emma and lifted her chin. "You did say you'd rule with me, correct?"

"Yes, your majesty."

Regina sighed. "Emma, what is wrong? I feel as though I've done something to upset you."

Emma let out a breath and went into the room, leaving the door open so Regina would follow her. "I'm sorry, Regina. It isn't you. I'm still processing everything and apparently, my reputation has followed me here."

"Your reputation?"

Emma nodded, sitting on the bed. "I…I did foolish things to get back at my parents and it seems every man in my kingdom and here as well, thinks I'm open to…to bed anyone."

Regina grit her teeth. "Has someone from my staff been over familiar?"

"No, Regina, no one here. I went to town yesterday. I had to get some air and so I wanted to see the kingdom my son will one day rule. Apparently, a few stall workers at market thought they'd have a chance with me. It's my own fault, but I guess I'd hoped that a new kingdom would mean a new start."

Regina took a chance and sat next to Emma. "Emma, it's none of my business but can I ask…was it all just to get back at your parents or did you enjoy it?"

Emma looked at Regina and saw she wasn't judging her. "It was to get back at my parents when it was with men." She bit her lip. "I enjoyed it with women, but my parents were completely against it." She sighed and flopped back in the bed. "I know it sounds stupid because it is stupid, but I was young, you know? I thought, 'they want me to be with a man, then I'll be with men'. Other than the fact that I got Henry out of it, I completely regret it."

Regina let her eyes roam over Emma. "We all do stupid things from time to time, Emma, that doesn't mean you deserved to be treated the way you were or that Henry deserved to be poisoned." She reached over and laced her fingers with Emma's. "I'm not going to lie to you, once I announce you becoming sort of a 'co-queen' with me, there will be more rumors. All I can tell you is to remember who you are and don't let others make you something you're not."

"Are you sure you still want that? To have me rule with you? Even with my horrible reputation. I mean, my parents are close friends with Thomas and Ella of the Cinder kingdom and I'm sure they've told them about me. I also bet they told King Callum and Queen Freya of the Frell kingdom." She peaked at Regina, not knowing if she should have mentioned Daniel's kingdom.

Regina sighed. "Emma, I don't care. I have things they need, and they have things I want. I need to work with them, but I know I cannot do that alone or I'll probably explode. That's where you come in. Though, maybe we should leave the White Kingdom for last." Regina said with a bit of a chuckle.

"Probably." Emma admitted, shifting to her side and looking at Regina. "I'm so hurt and angry with them."

Regina tried, but failed to avert her eyes from Emma's cleavage. "I don't blame you. It will take time."

Emma licked her lips and moved a little closer to Regina. "Regina? Why are you so confusing?"

"What do you mean?"

"Come on. One minute you're flirting with me and the next you're avoiding even looking at me. I start to think maybe you're interested and then I feel like I repulse you."

Regina sighed and pulled Emma to sit up. "I'm sorry if I've confused you, Princess. You're exceptionally beautiful and I admit that at one point I wanted to take complete advantage of you…I still do. However, you're a person with real feelings and I won't use you like that."

"What if I want you to?" Emma asked, almost breathlessly. "What if I want you to use me?"

Regina smirked a bit. "You think you want me to Emma, but you don't. I refuse to be someone you regret later. However, if we naturally find we're attracted to each other and things…"

Emma leaned forward and kissed Regina, not able to stand it any longer. She felt Regina kiss her back and smiled softly. "You mean like that?"

"I could have you beheaded for that." Regina said with a raised brow. She put her hand on the back of Emma's neck and grabbed a fistful of her hair, pulling it slightly so that Emma's face was upward. "You have no idea what fire you're playing with."

Emma's lust filled eyes looked into Regina's. "I don't mind getting burned now and then."

Regina's chest was heaving and she was just about to lose what little control she had when there was a knock at the door.

"I'm sorry, your majesty, but Princess Emma has a visitor." Myranda called through the door. "A woman named Ruby."

Regina sighed. "Thank you." She stood up and went to the door, opening it. "Enjoy your visit." She said and left. She went to her room and slumped into her bed. "You're going to be the death of me, Princess."
