Chapter 12-Working Together

"Damn it Snow! Please tell me where she is!" Regina called, fear coursing through her like ice.

"I swear to you, Regina, I don't know." Snow sobbed. "I told her not to come for me."

"I know." Regina sighed and closed her eyes, opening them when she successfully brought Snow to her. "If I could bring you here, there wasn't any barrier. Who is David working with? He doesn't have magic; he'd need help and the Fairies are here."

Snow stood and started pacing. "I honestly don't know, Regina. He snapped and I've been locked up after he beat me."

Regina looked at the woman, taking in her bruised dirty skin. She waived her hand, and the woman was healed and clean. "I'll need your help, Snow. I don't…I don't trust you, but I know I must in order to find Emma. She could be in grave danger."

"I understand and I'm here and will help any way I can. I've failed her too many times and you can't know the regret I feel." Snow's eyes were filled, and Regina could sense that she meant it.

"I need to do a locator spell and I'll need a drop of your blood."

"You can have it." Snow stated, holding her finger out.

"Come with me." She then saw Granny and held her hand up. "Emma is missing and Henry is still asleep, I'd like for him to stay that way for now. I do not wish to scare him until we know more. Maleficent and Ruby are out helping to secure the borders and Snow is here to help. It's a long story, so please just trust me."

"Of course, Regina. I will keep an eye on Henry and alert you the moment he wakes up." She glanced at Snow and back to Regina. "Is Emma okay?"

Regina let out a breath, her hands shaking. "I do not know. I will tell you more later, I promise."

"Of course." Granny said and headed back to Henry's chamber.

Regina led Snow through halls and into her potions room. "Touch nothing until I tell you to." Regina saw Snow give a nod and then procured a chair for the woman to sit on. She got to work but couldn't stop herself from asking. "How are your sons?"

Snow couldn't stop the small sob. "I don't know. David wouldn't let me see them. I think part of why he's cracked is because David the Second told him he didn't want to rule the way he has. I fear David may have hurt him and James."

Regina sighed and waived her hand over a mirror. "Show me David the Second of the White Palace." She watched and felt a little better when she saw the two boys together, seemingly unhurt. "Do you recognize where they are?"

Snow looked and moved closer. "They're in the stables. She watched as David put James on a horse, shaking her head as the elder brother sent the younger away. "What is he doing?"

Regina waived her hand. "Ask him."

"David! David where did you send James?"

"Mother?" David asked, looking around until he saw her reflection. "I sent him to the Dark Kingdom to find Emma. I know Emma will keep him safe."

"What about you? David, I can't let you get hurt."

"Mother, I'm sixteen now and a man. I am going to find father and stop him."

"You're a child! My child. Please just come to the Dark Kingdom…I mean…Regina, is that okay?"

"Yes, yes of course. I've already got James in the stables and a guard will bring him here." She smirked at the woman's face. "Magic is a wonderful thing. You never should have bound Emma's. She's very powerful."

"There's a lot of things I did wrong by her." Snow sighed and looked at David. "Please, don't be foolish."

"Mother, I'm stopping him. I love you, but I'm doing this."

"Fine. Please be careful." Snow knew she couldn't stop her son.

"Wait." Regina called and went to the mirror, handing him three vials. "The blue one is for healing. It will heal any injury other than death, of course. The red one is to throw at your father. It will not kill him or even harm him; it will simply freeze him and stop him from doing anything further. Do not kill him! We need information from him. Once you have him frozen, smash this white vial and my guards will come get him and bring you here if you so wish."

David took them and carefully put them in his sack. "Thank you, your majesty. Tell Emma I'll see her soon."

Regina just gave a nod and the mirror magic slipped. "Why didn't you tell him?" Snow asked.

Regina sighed. "He's off to do a very brave thing and I didn't want his thoughts to be centered around his sister right now." She poured a liquid into a vial. "Come. I need your blood." Snow came over and Regina used a pin to prick her finger. Snow then squeezed a drop into the liquid. Regina took the vial to the map on the desk that included the whole realm and poured some onto it. "This should lead us to where Emma is."

The two watched as the liquid moved around and then off the map completely. "What does that mean?" Snow asked in a whisper.

"It means…she's no longer in this realm."

"Show me Emma!" Regina screamed to the mirror, her hair falling out of the style she'd had it in.

"I'm sorry your majesty, she's not in this realm. I cannot reach other realms."

"I do not want to hear excuses!" Regina said, smashing the third mirror in the room.

Snow gingerly put her hand on Regina's shoulder, knowing it could be her last move. "Emma will be okay." She said softly. "She's stronger than most give her credit for."

Regina sighed, every ounce of fight leaving her body. "I know that, but she shouldn't have to be."

Before Snow could say more, Maleficent and Ruby came in. "We have him." Maleficent stated, though glared at Snow. "I know Regina is letting you stay here, but if it were up to me, you'd…."

"Enough!" Regina yelled. "We have much more important things to worry about. Snow, your sons are in the library; go see them. We need to get David to talk."

Snow agreed and made her way to the library, following Ruby while Mal and Regina went to the dungeon.

"Were is Emma?" Regina demanded, gritting her teeth. "Where is she?"

He smirked. "Why should I tell you? She's gone and that's all that matters."

Regina grabbed him by his throat, squeezing. "You will tell me where she is or your whole kingdom will burn with you inside it."

He choked, gasping for air. "With…your…sister…"

"I don't have a sister!" Regina said, squeezing more.

"You…do…she's…in…Oz…"

"Regina…" Mal said, much too softly for the situation. "He's right. You have a sister."
