Chapter 15-Back Home
Once they were back in the Enchanted Forest, Regina sighed. "She didn't come. I'm not sure if I'm happy about that or not."
"She's vial. She turned me into a Swan because I wouldn't love her."
Regina gave a nod. "There's more to the story, but we don't have to worry about that now."
Emma wrapped her arms around herself. "Can I see Henry?"
"Do you remember him?" Regina asked, wondering if the portal jumping gave Emma her memories back.
"No." Emma said, looking down. "Maybe it's best I don't see him."
Regina stepped closer to her. "Kiss me."
Emma swallowed. "You're beautiful but…I don't know you."
"You do know her, Emma." Ruby said softly. "You love her."
"My father would never allow that."
"Your father is locked up after everything he did." Ruby stated. "Emma, just…trust us."
Emma took a couple deep breaths and looked at Regina. She stepped forward and licked her lips. "If this is a trick…"
"I swear it is not." Regina said, putting her hands on Emma's hips. "Ready?"
Emma gave a nod before closing her eyes. When they kissed, a bright light shot out and Emma gasped as her memories came back. She held onto Regina tightly as she felt a dizzy wave. "Regina…" She whispered before her eyes went wide. "My mom! Is she okay?"
Regina, who was still reeling from the fact that the kiss worked, gave a nod. "Yes, she's fine." Quickly, she caught Emma up on what happened. "Did Zelena hurt you?"
Emma shook her head. "No. She was vicious with her words, but she didn't hurt me. I…this is going to sound crazy, but I think she's lonely."
"I think you're right. I'll try talking to her later, but for now, are you okay?"
"Other than shocked, I'm fine."
The three made their way to the castle and as soon as they entered, Henry came running in. "Mommy!"
Emma knelt and hugged him tight, tears falling from her eyes. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too. Are you okay, Mama?"
"Yes, I'm just fine. Regina and Ruby saved me."
"I knew they would! Mama, Grandma is so much nicer now without Grandpa there. Uncle Dave is the king now!"
Emma smiled softly. "Regina told me. It sounds like he'll make a great king." The blonde looked up and smiled, going to hug Granny before hugging Mal. "It feels so good to be home."
"Emma love, are you hungry?" Regina asked softly.
"No, but I'm really tired."
"Go rest. We can talk later."
"Will you come with me?"
"I'll be up in a bit." Regina said with a smile.
"Can I cuddle with you, Mama?"
"Yes, please." Emma said with a smile before she and Henry made her way up.
"She has no idea what just happened, does she?" Ruby asked.
"Nope." Regina said with a sigh.
"So, tell her." Ruby said, sternly. "Regina, that was all because of True Love."
"I know, but I don't want her to feel stuck. She was just held prisoner for a month and the last thing I want is her thinking she has to be with me because of True Love."
"She has a right to know." Maleficent said softly.
"I'll tell her eventually. Right now, I just want to enjoy the fact that she's here."
"I'll send word to her family; you go be with her." Maleficent stated.
Emma changed and lay down, Henry in her arms. She still felt weird after all her memories came crashing back. She also didn't understand how that all worked, but she was just happy to be home and with her son. She had just about fallen asleep when Regina came in.
"Emma? Is it okay if I lay with you?" Regina asked softly.
"Please do. There's room for you." Emma said, lowering the blanket.
Regina used her magic to change and lay next to Emma, wrapping her arms around her. "I'm so glad to have you back. I missed you so much."
Emma sniffed as her head rest on Regina's shoulder. "She erased my memories, but I knew I was missing someone, or multiple people." Emma bit her lip. "I want to talk, but I'm so tired and dizzy."
Regina checked Emma over with magic and then kissed her. "It's the memories coming back to you. Close your eyes and rest, my love."
Emma did just that, falling asleep feeling safe and loved. Regina slept with Emma for a few hours before she got up again. It was still the middle of the day, but she knew Emma needed her sleep. She smiled when she saw Henry watching Emma. "It's okay. She's back." Regina whispered.
"I know. I just really missed her." Henry whispered back. "If I go eat though, she'll be here still when I'm done, right?"
Regina smiled softly. "She will be. She's safe now. Come, let us go eat." At the door, Regina motioned for Myranda. "Listen out for her. If she wakes up alone, she may worry."
"Yes, your majesty." Myranda said with a smile.
Downstairs, Regina and Henry enjoyed some lunch before he went to do some lessons and she went to find Maleficent. "Did you contact Snow?"
"Yes. She's holding back, but I think she really wants to be here."
"I figured. She can come for dinner tonight. Emma needs rest right now."
"Of course." Maleficent stated. "Regina, are you okay?"
Regina gave a soft smile. "I'm great. I have my Queen back and our kiss made her remember."
"She's your True Love." Maleficent said softly. "Why won't you admit it?"
"Because…if that's true, what was Daniel?" Regina asked, tears in her eyes. "I loved him so much."
Maleficent took Regina's hands and sat next to her. "You did, and it was real, Regina. Nothing can take away what you and Daniel had, but that also doesn't take away what you and Emma have. Regina, True Love isn't always partnering and you know that."
"I know. I just…he died because of her father. Do you really think he'd want me with her?"
"Yes." Maleficent said. "I really do. I think he'd want you to be happy and until all this went down, you were happier than I've ever seen you. He would want that for you. He'd want you to open your walls like you have, work with other kingdoms like you have. Regina, he'd be so proud of you and happy for you."
Regina smiled softly and wiped her eyes. "Thank you, Maleficent. I needed to hear that." She sighed. "It's what mother would say."
"She would, because it's true. What else is on your mind?"
"Zelena. What she did was wrong, and I know that, but Maleficent, that look in her eyes. She's lonely and sad and had a terrible childhood."
"Yes, but that was years ago, Regina. I get you maybe feeling bad for her, but don't you dare feel guilty."
"I'm not saying I do; I'm just saying…I wish she'd have come with us. Though…I'm not sure Emma would be okay with that."
"If she swore, she was over her jealousness, I'd be fine with it." Emma said, walking in as she stretched. "You're right, she's lonely. I hate what she did to me, but in a weird way, I get it, and she didn't physically hurt me." Emma sat by Regina, resting her head on her shoulder. "I'm not saying I'd trust her, but we could work something out."
Regina put an arm around Emma. "Honey, I agree, but let's worry about other things now. She had her chance, and she didn't take it. I'll try talking to her later, but for now, we need to figure out what to do with David."
"Is it up to us? I thought it would be up to my mom and brother."
"They said since it was against us, and he was captured in our kingdom, it is up to us."
"I want him gone." Emma said, fiercely. "After what he did to me, Henry, my mom, I want him gone." She bit her lip. "What if we sent him to Oz, or another realm?"
"It's too dangerous." Maleficent said. "For his crimes, the punishment is death."
Emma swallowed and snuggled in more with Regina. "If that's the punishment, that's it."
"Are you okay with that?" Regina asked, both loving and worrying about how cuddly Emma was. "You have a say."
"Can I talk to my family? I think he deserves death, but I can't do that to my brothers without talking to them."
"I understand. You can. They're coming for dinner tonight." Regina stated, looking at the sun outside. "They'll be here soon."
"Okay. I'm going to go freshen up." She stood and then looked at Regina. "I love you. Thank you for rescuing me."
Regina smiled softly. "You don't have to thank me, my love."
