Chapter 1: Bitter Chocolate and Scary Monsters. (1/2)
A strange dream, with a strange man in wearing a strange mask. That was all that Yukinari remembers, although he was very confused about why he would have a dream like this.
Though, he had to do something before he could think about it.
Wake up.
Yukinari is still laying on his futon, with his eyes shut. Too lazy to open them, even though it's probably morning already and he will probably be late for school. Minako always wakes me up in time, so no need to worry. He thought in his pure state of laziness. Wait? Minako slept with me, why isn't she crushing me with one of her hugs? Yukinari thought as he opened his eyes in worry, as Minako always hugs something in her sleep. As soon as he opens his eyes however, he sees his sister sitting down besides him on the futon.
Oh no, again? Yukinari thought as he sat up on the futon as well and touched Minako's shoulder. As soon as he did, she turned her head to look at him, with tears on her eyes. "That dream again?" He asked her.
Minako just nodded at him, not really saying anything. But Yukinari could tell that she was holding her tears back. His response was to wrap his arms around her and pull her into a tight hug, which she gladly accepted.
The dream that Yukinari was referring, was actually a nightmare. Minako still has nightmares about the death of his mother and her father, she always wakes up crying when she has them.
Both step-siblings just sat there, hugging each other for a whole minute. Until Minako pulled back and wiped the tears from her face. "I'm gonna make you some breakfast." She was informing rather than asking him.
Yukinari just nodded in response as trying to argue would be a waste of time.
Minako then stood up from the futon and made her way out of the room.
As soon as she left the room, Yukinari just lays back on the bed. I hate when she does that, she doesn't have to pretend that she's okay because me. He thought in frustration.
The Black haired boy then decides to close his eyes again, and starts to try to understand what exactly was that dream about. Persona. That word it still on his head. Alongside the image of that creates with several wings that the guy with a mask was holding. He said his name was Philemon. I never heard that name before. He kept on wondering if that dream had some meaning or if he had just too much curry before sleeping. I'm getting a bass guitar thanks to that video I filmed, since money is tight, I need to find alternative ways to get the things I want.
Yukinari was about to fall asleep again, until. "Wake up," He heard someone cooed him. "Yukinari," He heard it again. "Get up or I'll smooch you." That instantly caused Yukinari to get up in a hurry and quick sit up on his futon. Quickly noticing that it was his sister talking. She giggled a bit on his reaction.
Yukinari preferred not to risk it as she always followed with her threats. He looked to his left and saw that Minako has brought him his breakfast on his futon. It was toast with eggs and a box of chocolate milk. "Thanks." He thanked her before grabbing the box of chocolate milk and gulped down.
Delicious. He thought as he felt the taste of chocolate, but then, to his surprise. Minako started to undress by removing the top of her red pajamas. "What are doing?!" He asked as he closed his eyes in embarrassment.
"Getting ready for school." She replied casually.
"Can't you do it while I'm not on the room?" He asked while covering his eyes.
"We're siblings, so there's no problem." Minako replied.
Step-Siblings, but it's a waste of time to tell her that. Yukinari thought while his eyes are still closed.
"Did you have a bad dream or something?" She asked him. "You were shaking when I woke up."
Bad? Not really. Weird as hell? Totally. "No, just a weird dream." He replied.
"Wanna talk about it?" She asked.
"No," Yukinari replied. "Are you going to visit Maki in the hospital today?"
Maki Sonomura is one of Minako's friends, she's a frail girl who has been sick all of her life.She has been hospitalized for a few months now, and Minako visits her from time to time.
"Yes," Minako replied. "You can open your eyes now, I'm dressed."
Yukinari decided to take her word for it and decided to open his eyes. Minako made a cute bow while slightly lifting her skirt to present herself. She was wearing a St. Hermelin uniform. "Now eat your breakfast before it gets cold."
As soon as Yukinari finished eating his breakfast, he also put on his uniform and the two left without making any noise in order to not awake his grandmother.
Both walked besides each other holding hands on their way to school. While Minako was wearing her uniform as properly as possible, Yukinari on the other hand, was wearing it completely unbuttoned and untucked, wearing his yellow tank top underneath his open dress shirt and blazer, and also wearing his black sneakers in place of dress shoes.
I don't really like this place. The Black haired boy thought as he and his sister approach St. Hermelin Middle School, which was on the street behind St. Hermelin High School.
Both step-siblings arrived at the gate where they could see other students entering the school alongside them. But as soon as they went in, a group of girls started to walk towards them.
"Good Morning, Minako." A suntanned and bleach-blond girl greeted her.
"Your hair looks lovely today." A ponytailed girl complimented her.
"His hair looks like awful as always." A girl with short hair insulted him.
These three girls are Minako's close friends.
The blond girl is Yuka Ayase, an air headed troublemaker .
The Ponytailed girl is Eriko Kirishima, a beautiful and intelligent ladylike student.
The short haired one is Yukino Mayuzuki, a trustworthy friend.
Yukinari wasn't really interested in whatever they're about to talk about. So he let go of Minako's hand. "I have to do something, see you later." He told her before running off.
"Hey!" Minako yelled at him. "Don't get into any fights!" She yelled as he made his way inside the school to search for a certain someone that owned him a Bass Guitar.
"AAHH!" A smug student yelled in pain as he was on the receiving end of a sweep kick.
Yukinari didn't took long to find the boy that bet him into doing the Persona challenge in exchange of bass guitar. The boy declined making such a bet, which caused Yukinari to deliver a sweep kick on him.
"Ouch, that's gotta hurt." A hat wearing student commented. "Seriously, why did you bet your bass guitar on this?"
"Aah, I wasn't expecting him to actually do it." The smug student replied.
"Then that's on you, you imbecile." A glasses- wearing student pointed out.
The three boys that Yukinari was interacting, were the closest things of friends that he had. Although, they were more Minako's friends than his.
The hat wearing student was called Masao Inaba, though some people call him Mark. He's the spoiled son of Inaba Dry Cleaning's owners.
The Smug student who Yukinari just hit, was called Hidehiko Uesugi, though some people call him Brown. He's an attention whore that doesn't take things very seriously.
The Glasses- wearing student was Kei Nanjo. He's the Heir of the Nanjo Group, which is basically a branch of the Kirijo Group.
"I don't care, I did that dumb challenge and I want that bass guitar." Yukinari demanded while having his feet on Brown's stomach.
"I suggest you give what Urameshi is asking of you," Nanjo advised Brown. "According to his sister, he's a master in Kempo."
I'm far from being a master on it, without my grandfather to teach me anymore, I doubt I'll ever get there. Yukinari thought sadly.
"Look, I don't have it with me right now." Brown tried to argue.
"Then I'll walk home with you after class and you'll give it to me, otherwise I'll use you as a practice doll." Yukinari threatened him.
"Okay! Okay!" Brown was quick to comply.
Yukinari removed his feet from his stomach and extended his hand to help him up. But Brown refused and just stood up by himself.
"So, you actually did the challenge?" Mark asked him, which he only nodded in response. "Did anything happened, I heard some weird stuff happens when you do the challenge."
Excluding a weird dream, nothing. Yukinari thought as shaked his head in denial. But I ain't telling them about it.
"It was foolish of the two of you to even expect something to happen. " Nanjo told Mark and Brown. "At least you were smart enough to get something out of this nonsense."
Yukinari just ignored his comment and walked away from the three without saying a word.
The rest of the day was pretty unremarkable with nothing but boring classes. Not that Yukinari cared, he just wanted to get the bass guitar and go home. So as soon as school was over, Yukinari decided to find Brown. To his luck, he was with the rest of his sister's group of friends.
Who were all going to the hospital to visit their other friend. So Yukinari just followed them with Minako clinging to him as always. Minako is always trying to drag him to hang out with them, but Yukinari declines. Him accepting today made her particularly happy. But that caused him to be on the receiving end of Brown and Mark's envious gazes as both of them had a, not so secret, crush on Minako.
It didn't took long for them to arrive at the Mikage Hospital.
"Maki is in Room 302." Minako told them.
The hospitals was particularly full, with a lot of people waiting on the reception desk.
"Hospitals certainly enjoy keeping people waiting." Nanjo commented. "Don't they know time is money?"
Yukinari had no idea who he was talking to. He just walked besides him accompanying the group as they made their way to Room 302. But suddenly, he made a stop. As just in the middle of the corridor, he sees a vending machine with sweats on it. The others went forward without him, not really noticing that he stayed behind. He approached the vending machine to get one of the things that he loved the most, chocolate. Pure or with nuts? He couldn't decide, until he decided to get both.
He put the one with nuts on his backpack, and decided to eat the other now. It's bitter. He thought in annoyance. Then, the messy haired boy went to the room to join the rest of the group. But as he walked, he noticed something strange. The corridor was completely empty, not there was something wrong with that but, there was no noise on it either. It also got a bit cold.
After a short walk, he arrived at Room 302. They probably didn't even noticed my absence, except for Minako. He thought as he took another bite of the bitter chocolate. The black haired boy then opened the door of the room.
"Huh?"It was his reaction after seeing the room. Where is everyone? To his confusion, the room was completely empty. "Minako?" He called his sister. "Mark? Brown? Anyone?" He called them a few more times as he looked around in the room. Did Minako got the room wrong? He wondered as he scratched his head. And now they're probably on the right room while I don't know where they are. He concluded.
Yukinari then decide to search for a nurse or anything to try to figure it out where his sister and her friends went. But as soon as he left the room to search, he noticed that there was something wrong. He walked around the corridors but there was no one on sight. Where are the nurses? He asked himself as he searched.
After a short search, Yukinari couldn't find anyone. So he decided to search of there was a button on the patients room to call the nurses or something. He goes to one of the rooms to search, Room 308 to be more precise. "Sorry for intruding." He apologized as he entered. But to his confusion, the room was empty. Wait a minute. Instead of entering to check, he decided to open the doors of the other rooms to check. And to add even more to his confusion, all the other rooms were also empty. What the hell is going on?! He thought as soon as he opened every room in the corridor and all of them were empty, and he really doesn't think that it was due to lack of patients.
In his deep confusion, Yukinari decided to make his way to the reception desk. It was very crowded there when he and the others entered, so it's probably related to the empty rooms. So he made his way to the stairs in order to go back to the first floor. But when reached the stairs, he was able to properly look at the window. Wait, it's dark already? Yukinari thought in deep confusion, as he looks at his watch. It wasn't even five when we arrived. He thought as he checked the hour. Wait, why isn't it working. His watch wasn't moving. Dammit!
Tired of being confused, he made his way to the reception desk to find someone, hopefully his sister. Arriving at the first floor, he made his way to the reception desk. What?! It was his instant reaction when he arrived there. Where is everyone?!" The reception that was crowded when he arrived, was now completely empty. "Hello!" He called out.
He walked towards the middle of the room. What is going on?! The boy asked himself.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Out of nowhere, he heard a very loud scream, coming from outside.
"What the?!" Yukinari spoke out loud before running towards the direction of the scream.
As soon as he passed through the exit of the hospital and made his way outside. Yukinari looked around to see where the scream came from. But he noticed something. The whole street is deserted. There was no one to be seem on the street, he looked at all direction but didn't saw anyone.
Suddenly however, he heard steps coming on his left. As soon as he turned to the left to see, someone bumped into him, causing him to fall on the ground .
Once on the ground, Yukinari quickly sat up to see who bumped into him. Which, to his surprise. "Maki?" The girl that bumped into him, was precisely the girl that the others came to see. Maki Sonomura.
Maki lifted her head up to look at him. She made a very shocked expression before touching his face. "A-Are you real?"
"What?" He asked her in confusion. "What is going on?"
She opened her mouth to try to speak, but whatever she was going to say, was interrupted by very loud steps. Steps that made the ground around them shake a bit. Yukinari looked at the direction of the steps.
And saw something horrifying. "What the hell is that!?" The boy with a bitter taste of chocolate on his mouth yelled.

As was the fact Minako is his step sister... guessing she's still going to be calling him brother in certain situations ie when they do become a couple
So I do like that we got him getting his wild card status this chapter and Seraph as for other Persona I hope we see him pick up as we go along

It was a last minute decision to make Minako his sister, I just thought that putting this type of dynamic would be interesting. (Minor spoiler: The aunt that is Minako's only relative that I mentioned on the first chapter, is Nanako's mom.)
I'm still deciding which Personas he will get along the way. The list is pretty extensive. (The Ultimate Persona will definitely be included.)
Persona 1 has a pretty confusing story, so I'm gonna alter it a bit.
