Chapter Seventeen: The Tales of Y Ddraig Goch
Circa 985 A.D
"Momma, Who is Y Ddraig Goch?" The blonde woman turned, startled by the question. She picked up a towel from the table at her right to dry her wet hands.
"Why do you ask?" she questioned back, now walking over the square table and sitting in front the small bony girl. She reached over and tuck behind the girl ear's a strand of black hair.
The little girl's amber eyes looked away from her mother, "I heard the kids down talking about it."
The mother tensed up, dropping her hand on the table and drumming her fingers on the wood. "Did you went down the hills?"
"No," the girl replied , her lower lip trembling as her eyes looked at her mother's drumming fingers.
"Eva," her mother warned, the drumming of her fingers intensifying.
The little girl shift her weight on the chair and crossed her arms. "I took a peek."
Her mother glared, slamming her hand down the table, stopping the drumming . Eva jumped, "Ok fine I did!"
"I told you not to!"
"Whats so bad about it?" she replied back annoyed.
"Its dangerous!" her mother replied, "You could get killed!"
"You go down all the time and you haven't die!"
Her mother sighed in frustration, her hand now massaging her temple. "I go down to get supplies Eva, we need to eat."
"But why can't I go too?"
"Because you can get killed."
"But im with you!"
"Its not that easy Eva."
"Its not fair! Why will i get killed!?"
"There are bad people-"
"What do they want with me!" Eva yelled back, her nose almost flaring. "Im just a little girl! Just like the kids down the hill I play with."
That made her mother stand up , knocking the chair down to the floor. "I told you not to!"
The girl stood up as well, her tiny hand hitting the table. Her mother heard a crack. "I'm tired of your false accusations!" the little girl replied, her eyes turning orange. "You are depriving me into socializing with other kids of my age."
Her mother's breath hitched, as the girl's pupil turned into slits. "Why are you doing this to me!"
Unaware of her changes, the girl's skin started to crack at her anger, like dry skin peeling off. Her mother panicked, and slammed both hands on the table with all her strength, cracking the wood further and bending the table.
She pushed the table towards the angry girl knocking her down. Her hand reached over the jar on counter beside them and poured the contents over the girl's face. That started the little girl, and her anger diminished, her skin going back to normal along with her eyes.
The girl's eyes filled with tears, "Why-"
"Because you are a witch." Her mother said calmly, still holding the jar. She pushed the table away and kneeled over the little girl, " I know these are hard conditions to live by," she said, placing the jar beside her, " And if someone finds out or you do anything to give away your nature you will be killed."
Her hand touched the girl's cheek softly, "And I would die before let that happen."
The little girl jumped over her mother's lap, hugging her while sobbing on her shoulder. Her mother held her firmly and close to her chest, kissing the top of her head. "People do not forgive if you are a child or not. You could be a newborn and still burn you down. A witch's power is so devastating to a village that they fear and prevent any contamination."
"But momma," she said, pushing away a little to stare at her mother's eyes. " I haven't done anything bad."
"Its not about what you do, " her mother replied , caressing her hair, "Its about what you can do when you can't control it. Its no easy feat grasping control of your nature."
"Do you know how to?" the mother stopped caressing her hair.
"A thing or two," she replied, breaking the embrace with the little girl. "Its not an easy path and I cant deny its terrifying."
"Promise me you wont go down unannounced."
The little girl nodded looking down at her lap, her ragged gray dress stained with tears.
Mother helped Eva stood up from her lap. She followed shortly and grabbed the little girl's hand guiding her to the back of the cabin where her bedrooms reside.
"What's going on!?" Harry screamed, shaking the grip of the witch from his forearms, as the room shook violently. "Why my baby? What does it have?"
Evangeline laughed nervously, as twirls of blue magic waves erupted from her hands. " not the best time to ask, Potter!"
The room shook again, debris of stone falling down. " I need to know all this madness, " he replied, his angry green eyes judging Evangeline, "This is my son!"
Evangeline sighed, rather annoyed. She whispered something in another language Harry could not make out and her left hand glowed red, up to her elbow, almost like a dragon's skin.
Time seem to slow down, however Evangeline did not stop looking at the doors
"Have you ever heard of the Red Dragon? That who would haunt you and condemn you if you didn't behave? Children's would trembled in fear when their parents would call out for the red beast to punish them. They would rant on how he will burn your toes and fingers. How the flames would make you cry and apologize. You would hear his laugh over and over."
Harry was about to respond but Evangeline cut in, "Listen! This spell wont last long!"
"Dragons are dangerous mythical creature. They breathe fire and they have the massive strength of 15 tons enough to create earthquakes at their landing. Those are the dragon we know now. Brutal creatures to fear."
"But Thousand years ago Old Legend tells dragons ruled the world. The Unimaginable, intelligence, enormous, fearsome dragons would rage the land on fire and condemned those who disobey. They were god's fearful judgment and damnation, Order of chaos and balance to the humanity. People would pray and thanked for another day breathed."
"These dragons were the purest form of magic. Before wands, existed chants and prayers. A Sacrifices for a cause and effect that were most left unnoticed and traditional mixture of essences and oddities to find the results. The presence of a dragon was terrifying to the bone, the enormous amount of magic released upon the terror of these mythical creatures could indulge and kill any chantress on the spot."
"Humans searched and killed those who tried to invoke the raw evilness of a dragon. They were burned alive. They were fed to the dragons themselves. There were some less efficient and those raging mad, and there was Y Ddraig Goch, The Red Dragon. Father of the Wizards."
"Old legend tells the first wizards came from Y Ddraig Goch. A dark blood red dragon that his wings alone could cover the sun and the pit black flames of his belly could burn for weeks. His blood thirsty yellow eyes reflect all his evilness in orange undying flames in his slits."
"Y Ddraig Goch's presence was total damnation to anyone he breathed upon. But why he, was father of the Wizards?"
"In a premonition by a dying chantress, a child who survive three times the abomination of Y Ddraig Goch shall carry that abomination to humanity. Humanity erupted in terror. Having the dragon's presence was enough, but having a savage child spawning such power was damning enough to seek and kill those who survive."
"Wars erupted, cities merged in the search of the spawn and the chance to defy Y Ddraig Goch. Out of sheer desperation, many children were slaughtered. Families panicked and sent their children off the deep woods for shelter."
"One day a child by the name of Wilhelmina, scared for her life, stumbled with Y Ddraig Goch. Y Ddraig Goch burned and rage fire upon her and the child survived. Fascinated by the resistance of the weak human, Y Ddraig Goch took her in, learned to respect humanity and bestowed his spawns to her. Peace descended upon the world at the birth of the spawns: Alduin and Darath. The ying and yang. They shaped their magic and power with their offspring's. Tired of his rage in humanity and his compassion after Wilhelmina, Y Ddraig Goch went to sleep. Wilhelmina took the children away from their father's slumber and raised them in the human world."
"Alduin believed in unity. He believed in chance, faith and humanity. A world which all could live without distinction and acceptance. A world of peace. Having no power close to his father turned him to humanity."
"Darath was much like his father. He believed in fear and power. He would rage and dammed with his power while Alduin would do good with his. A battle between brothers erupted and their power dissipated unimaginably. Darath, consumed by his power began to destroy everything while Alduin struggle to control his brother. Humanity turned and hunted all of Darath's offspring and Alduin as well."
"Feared by the outcome of his children and their safety Wilhelmina went to Y Ddraig Goch lair to awaken the father. At Y Ddraig Goch awakening he witness Darath's destruction and the unbalance of the world."
"Y Ddraig Goch seeks his son Darath to balance the chaos of the world he created. At their encounter the humans appeared and in attempts to finally destroy the threat they rage war unto both. Desperate for her son's well being, Wilhelmina stepped in, Impaled by a human attempting to kill a weakened Darath. Wilhelmina pleaded before her last breath to Y Ddraig Goch to forgive the humans for what they could not control at the beginning."
"Honoring Wilhelmina wishes Y Ddraig Goch plumbed death to those defying humans and showed mercy to those who asked for it. Darath was devastated by his mother's dead, Y Ddraig Goch blame his mother death on him and his abomination and stripped Darath off his powers. He handed his weak son to Alduin
"Punished, and stripped bare of his gifts, keep him at bay, teach him what he has done."
What does this has to do with my son?" Harry asked as Evangeline stopped.
"What Voldemort seeks is the Byujji in your son, and that Byujji is the strongest connection to Y Ddraig Goch power. Alduin and Darath had children and they all possessed part of Y Ddraig Goch, some were harmless and other had to be suppressed. Many of the wizards and witches today are part of Y Ddraig Goch's magic but there are some, in most pureblood families that would manifest stages of Byujji's."
"You and Draco have Byujjis," Evangeline continued, " And your Byujjis were powerful enough. So every child with a sign of a Byujji was sealed and suppressed. Your child hasn't being, which give full access to its Byujji."
Harry's eye darted back to the blue orb at the small table, "Its always about power is it?"
Time seems to settle back to normal, and the room shook violently. Evangeline growled, more, blue waves of magic coming out of her hand. "Am I sealed?" Harry asked.
"Yes."
"Can you break it?"
"Are you crazy?" Evangeline replied angrily, "You have no idea what you're saying."
"Is it powerful enough to keep him at bay while you go with the baby?"
"Harry I'm not going to release the Byujji, it can kill you. It takes years of practice and training to control it."
Harry looked at Evangeline with a serious expression, "Do we have another choice?" he asked as the room shook again and the wood of the doors cracked.
Evangeline growled, annoyed at her options. "What about your child?"
"Take him to Dumbledore," he answered, "They'll keep him safe."
"You sure are the hero the world has bestowed you with," Evangeline said, as she pressed her left hand on Harry's stomach. There was a click sound of a latch being open and Harry's body burst into green flames.
He started to scream, his hand flying up to his eyes, blood dripping down like tears. There were screams everywhere, silhouette of burning bodies, screaming and a raging deep voice, "Such a mad child you are."
He felt his bones cracking, expanding and shifting, almost like an Animagus spell but ten times the pain. Harry blinked his eyes, making out Evangeline's figure, "Take him and go!" he said in a raspy, odd voice.
The door of the study was blown away, revealing Voldemort with a sick evil smirk. Harry's eyes dart to Voldemort and his anger grew, the pain intensify and the deep voice said, "Release your anger my child, the time has come."
Darkness consumed Harry's vision, followed by the strong shriek of a dragon.
TBC….
The chapter might look a bit rushed, but I was really frustrated how to write it down and explain the idea with out looking much out of place. 80% of this chapter was written months ago (about in June I think) but I got so blocked that I had to let it go. I reopened today, and finished within 30 minutes. Hope you enjoy and that I update more frequently. Sorry for the errors.
