The first snow fall was always the best. After that they became slightly more tedious as winter waned on.
Sesshomaru had left shortly after their physical mating and had yet to return. Kagome kept busy with checking on Rin and Kimi.
She filled her days visiting Sango and Miroku entertaining their children with her stories about the future.
After a particularly heavy snow fall she donned the animal skin boots that Sango had assisted her with making.
She had oiled them the night before with a substance that Sesshomaru gifted her, she didn't ask what it was but it proved to be good for waterproofing.
With her heavy cloak secured and rabbit skin coverings for her hands and legs she adjusted her wide brimmed hat to help with becoming near blind from the glare of the sun against shimmering white.
Her snow shoes sat next to the door which she placed on her feet once she stuck her head outside. Kicking at the snow slowly she made her way to the frozen river.
Chunks of ice floated by as she continued on towards the waterfall where she and Sesshomaru so often enjoyed sitting at. It was different in the winter, it almost seemed like another world.
The waterfall wasn't as boisterous as it was in the spring and summer but still hammered on. Glancing around she took in an icy breath and exhaled watching it steam from her open mouth.
It was really too bad that the others didn't seem to understand her enthusiasm for this type of weather, with the exception of Rin however she was in no condition to be out playing in the snow.
Kagome thought on about her husband and what they may be doing if he were present. Her face turned bright red remaining cold despite its color.
"Definitely something we'll have to try at some point." She said to herself letting out a small giggle at the scenario playing out in her minds eye.
"Lady Kagome!" She looked up to see Jaken waving his staff frantically from the back of An-Un. The dragons landed a few feet from her. "Lord Sesshomaru urgently requests your presence."
"Is everything alright?" Kagome battled the snow as she made her way over to them.
"Yes, yes." Jaken said simply.
"Well where is he?" She asked crossing her arms.
"Lord Sesshomaru is in the north west part of the land." Jaken replied curtly. "He has dispatched me to bring you to him."
"I can't just go." Kagome replied. "I have responsibilities."
"Mi'lady, I cannot go back to our Lord empty handed." Jaken stated appealing to her.
"Alright." She said not wanting to cause any trouble for Jaken just because she was being difficult. She also decided to let her husband know that she couldn't just fly off to where ever when he deemed fit to see her.
She was apprehensive as to why he had summoned her to him. The uneasiness didn't subside either despite the bitter cold that infiltrated her warm layers, she had hoped as the wind whipped past them as they flew overhead it would have put her mind on something else.
Half a days travel and An-Un began to descend. Kagome could hear the ocean and smell the salt in the air. Perched precariously on a large cliff was a palace made of stone and wood.
They landed in what appeared to be a large courtyard. Kagome glanced around hesitantly lowering the brim of her hat down further as Jaken dismounted.
"My Lady." A hand came appeared at her side offering help down.
"Oh, um, thank you." She accepted it not even realizing until she placed her feet on the ground that it was a female. Glancing up she was taken aback by the beautiful demoness.
Orange hair held back and high from her face with an intricate hair piece made of pearl it seemed. Her green eyes were striking and seemed to glow as she looked at Kagome kindly.
Cordially she shook Kagomes hand. "I am Lady Kurenai. Mate of Lord Akinari of the northwestern lands."
"I am Kagome Higurashi. Mate of Lord Sesshomaru of the western lands." She stated following the others lead.
"Stable the beast." Lady Kurenai commanded as An-Un was lead away. Grasping Kagomes hand a bit tighter. "Come, our lords are waiting for us."
