An/ hey everyone! Thank you so much for all your comments, I only found them recently as I'm still new to this app/website. I'm loving all the feedback from you and I hope you're enjoying this story and where it's going. I hope you're having a great day and I'll be updating again in the next day or two.
Arizona didn't really say much to Callie throughout the day, she seemed to be distant within herself, but it was to be expected. Amelia had warned her and she knew that Arizona was prone to good days and bad days just like everybody else.
Callie needed to get some things from her apartment but she couldn't leave Arizona alone, but she also couldn't take her with her so she called Alex to come round and sit with her for a few hours. He was happy to do so, he and Robbins got on well.
He arrived just after 3 and Callie left. She wanted to clear Penny's things out of her apartment, being with Arizona but knowing she had another woman's things in her own home just didn't sit right with her. Obviously it wasn't cheating, but if she wanted to give Arizona another chance she had to fully rid Penny from her life.
Alex sat with Arizona in the living room, even with him around she barely spoke at first, he'd seen her withdrawn before, just after the plane crash. Arizona had suffered badly with depression, anxiety and ptsd after the crash, Alex had been there to help her out a few times when she needed grounding or distractions. Although he wasn't quite sure how to approach her now, if she didn't remember anything, she wouldn't know how close they had become.
"Robbins, can I get you anything?" he asked politely, disturbing her blank gaze. She looked round and smiled.
"No, I'm okay" she answered weakly.
"Are you sure you're okay, you seem a little distant" he didn't want to push too hard, but hoped she would reciprocate in some way.
"Yeah, I'm just tired I guess, when is Callie coming home?"
"Not long she's just popped back to her apartment"
Arizona looked puzzled, "what do you mean her apartment, I thought we lived here now?"
"No you do, she still has her apartment" Alex replied in a slight panic.
"Oh, okay" Arizona bit her lip and didn't speak to him again for the whole time he was there, she needed to talk to Callie, she just had to work out what to say first. She was still so out of the loop when it came to her past, she didn't want to upset Callie over something that could have been misheard or cause an argument over nothing, but something was eating her up inside.

After returning Penny's things to her apartment Callie made a quick stop before returning home to Arizona, she stopped by mark's grave. She often came when she needed advice or just someone to listen to her.
"Hey mark" she spoke aloud. "I miss you, there's been an accident. Arizona was hurt and well now I'm staying at her house, I know I told you that we'd split up and was going for divorce. It's all gone wrong Mark. It's like all the wrong pieces of the right story came together at the wrong time and now it's like we're getting a second chance. It feels good this time" Callie wiped a tear from her cheek and continued "I love her Mark, it just took me so much time to realise, and I missed her so much, and don't start with the 'Torres are you sure you're not making a mistake', I'm not, I was missing her before this happened and being with her, close to her, just made me realise I need her as much as she needs me. I needed time for myself, but being cruel to be kind didn't work out because we were both miserable without each other. I miss you Mark, leading me in the right direction, but I think I'm doing the right thing. I'll come back to see you soon. I love you" she stood at his grave for a few seconds more, and then walked away wiping her tears. She was going home to her wife.
Arizona had just woken up from a nap when Callie got home, she thanked Alex for staying with her for the afternoon and he left.
Callie sat next to Arizona on the couch and smiled, she noticed a sadness in Arizona's eyes, and kissed her on the forehead, "I bought pizza home" Callie said watching Arizona's eyes twinkle. "Yay" Arizona replied weakly.
Callie brought the pizza in from the kitchen, they ate on the couch together watching some American Idol, neither of them really cared about the show, but they never ate in silence. Arizona just picked at her food for the majority of the evening, Callie was watching her out of the corner of her eye, she cleared away the dishes and put the leftovers in the fridge. Arizona sat in silence, she was trying her best to hold in her tears, Callie came and sat back down next to her looking into her eyes and pushing stray hairs behind Arizona's ears.
"Are you okay tonight, you don't seem yourself" Callie asked, giving Arizona a concerned look.
Arizona without speaking reached her hand up and cupped Callie's cheek pulling her into a kiss. Their lips met at speed but the softness of them both broke the collision. Callie had closed her eyes, this is exactly what she had wanted however was stopped in her thought when she felt a warm tear roll off of Arizona cheek onto her own. She pulled back to see Arizona in a complete flood of tears.
"Hey what's wrong" Callie wiped Arizona's cheeks.
"I heard you" Arizona broke into a sob overwhelmed with emotion she'd been trying to hold in.
"You heard what?" Callie questioned
"This morning on the phone to Meredith" she choked out.
Callie held Arizona's head in both her hands, her thumbs rubbing the tears off of her cheeks as quickly as they fell.
"Callie, did we really split up" Arizona was so sad as she spoke. The words played over and over in her mind as she said them out loud, but the look on Callie's face was enough of an answer. The answer she really was not hoping for.
