It was a quiet day at the Rock Porium so as usual Vida was mixing tunes on the DJ station that Toby kept in the back of the store, while Novi was listening and learning some new moves to work into her dance routines. It had been Vida that had suggested the idea of taking her street dancing to the next level and it felt good to get back into it. While she had been in Ocean's Bluff, she hadn't had much time to focus on it but since she had returned to Briarwood, NVI had taken off. The videos that Maddie filmed got thousands of views and people had started turning up to the small live shows she did around the city. She was glad they had decided to keep the identity of NVI a secret so she could walk around the city without a flock of fans following her every move.

Maddie come over to them, camera in hand, filming what was going on in the store.

"Nice shirt," Vida teased pointing to the purple Rock Porium shirt.

"Yeah, you too. This is great stuff sis. You're a genius behind these tables," said Maddie.

"Thanks, you know I'm in the zone," said Vida before she push the headphones back on.

Next Maddie came over to film Novi.

"Hey Maddie," said Novi.

"Hey Novi, those new moves are looking great."

"Thanks. I'm still trying to get this one move down though," said Novi.

"OK, I'll leave you to it," said Maddie before she headed off to find Chip and Xander.

Novi grabbed her water bottle off the nearby table and followed Maddie to where Chip was repricing some of the older vinyl while Xander was relaxing in a chair next to him.

"Been another attack, right around here," said Xander holding up the newspaper so Maddie could focus on the headline. "Man turned to stone. Ah Chip we are meant to be marking them down," said Xander turning his attention to Chip who had stopped working.

"Oh yeah, We are. I suppose you're supervising, right?" he asked sarcastically.

"He catches on fast," said Xander.

"Every price shall fall under my might hands, for I am Count Discount, defender of the bargain bin. Hero to slacker and collector alike. Pow Pow Pow!" said Chip making Maddie and Novi chuckle.

"That does it, come here," said Xander taking the pricing gun out of Chip's hands and using it to put discount stickers all over this shirt and finally one on his forehead before he popped his collar. "Now you are really Count Discount!"

Novi shook her head and laugh, ducking past a customer and heading into the office to grab her Rock Porium shirt and she found Nick there.

"Oh hey, Nick. Whatcha doing hiding out in here?"

"I'm not hiding I'm just filing a few papers away for Toby. What about you?"

"I just needed to grab my vest," said Novi reaching under the desk and pulling it over her shirt. She then buttoned it and headed back out of the office just as Maddie walked it. Novi flashed a smile for her camera and moved aside so Maddie could go in.

Novi grabbed another pricing gun and went to help Chip at the bargain bin. A few moments later Maddie and Nick come out of the office and it was clear Maddie was upset about something.

"She's a wild one," said Nick.

"Hey—" started Maddie as she grabbed Nick by the arm and pulled him closer so others couldn't hear their conversation.

"Huh, that's just an excuse, admit it, you are just too shy to put it out there," said Nick.

"I am not shy," said Maddie as Nick walked off.

"Please, the last time you went out, those shoes were in, and even Toby can't remember that far back," said Leelee.

"No one asked you Leelee," said Maddie.

"Fine if you want to keep being the timid little shoe-gazer, far be it for me to stop you," said Leelee.

"I'm going for a walk," Maddie announces then headed for the door.

"Nice going Leelee," said Novi shaking her head at the teen.

"See ya," said Leelee as she walked over to talk to Toby." Hope she is okay, I heard there was another attack last night, right in this neighborhood."

"Ooh, I read about that. Poor guy was completely turned to stone just like the others. It freaks me out," said Toby leaning on the counter.

"A lot of freaky stuff's been happening ever since the Power Rangers turned up in Briarwood," said Leelee.

Novi returned to helping Chip but she couldn't help but wonder why Leelee always hung around the store. she had already tried to woo Nick but he had rebuffed her advances so her being here still made no sense. Before she could think anymore about it, their Morphers chimed and Novi walked over to Xander who already had his open.

"I'm sensing dark magic energy, just outside the perimeter of the forest," said Udonna

"It could be that thing that's turning people into statues," said Chip snapping his morpher shut as Vida walked over to join them.

"Where's Maddie?" she asked.

"She got all mad about something and left," said Nick, and Novi looked over at him

"I saw her talking to Leelee then she said she was going for a walk. She seemed upset about something," said Novi not taking her eyes off Nick.

"Look, we'll call her if we get into trouble but right now we need to head out," said Nick avoiding Novi's gaze.

"Lunch break, Tobs," said Chip as they passed by the counter.

"Be back soon," finished Xander.

Toby said something in reply but she didn't catch it as they rushed to the tree and all used to to get into the forest where they morphed and called for the racers.

"Maddie looked pretty ticked off when she left," said Vida.

"Yeah, I heard Leelee comment about her being a timid shoe-gazer and that seemed to upset her even more," said Novi.

"Women! So what did you say to her," Xander asked as Nick rode up beside them.

"Yeah, what did you say to her?" repeated Chip slowing his racer to join the conversation.

"I didn't say anything! Can we focus on what we are doing here?" he said defensively before he raced ahead of them.

Novi caught up to Nick just as they arrived above the area Udonna had mentioned and they dismounted from the racers, but it was clear that we're already too late to do anything. Before them, stood a dozen or more statues frozen in place mid-action and most of the faces had a look of sheer terror plastered on them.

"We are too late," said Novi sadly as she walked closer to examine one of the statues.

"That's just stone cold," said Vida as she joined them in the clearing.

"How do you like my rock garden?" asked Necrolai as she floated down behind them. Novi whirled around to face her. "Soon everyone will be like they are."

"Never," Nick challenged.

Suddenly there was a growl beside them and they turned to see Necrolai hadn't come alone as a bird bird-like creature was to the left of them.

"Magi Staff, Striker!" Nick called out turning his staff into its blade form. He charged at the monster and began to attack it but his blows seemed to do nothing more than annoy the creature and Novi watched as the creature grabbed nick and threw him back and he landed a few paces away from them. Novi and the others rushed to his side when the creature blasted them with red beams knocking them to the ground. Before they had a chance to recover both Necrolai and the creature were gone.

The teens called for their racers and began the flight back to Rootcore when they heard screams from below them and they dismounted the racers, landing in Briarwood Park, where they found Necrolai, the creature from earlier and worst of all the stone statue of Maddie. It was clear from her pose she had been about to attack the creature when he had hit her with the blast that turned her to stone.

"SIS!" yelled Vida running over to the statue and caressing the stone face.

Novi grabbed the kid Maddie had been with when the group had been attacked.

"Go, you have to get out of here," she urged pointing to the path out of the park. The boy nodded and was gone.

"You witch, you are going to pay for what that," shouted Vida turning her attention to Necrolai. She removed her staff from her belt and held it in the air. "Magi Staff, Wind Power!"

Novi felt the once light breeze around the pick-up as a pair of pink transparent wings sprouted from Vida's back. They fluttered rapidly and the wind grew strong enough that it pushed Necrolai and the creature to the ground.

"Want more?" Vida challenged as Necrolai and the creature got to their feet.

"Foolish girl. Don't you see you can never stop us, especially now you're down a ranger?" Necrolai asked.

"That's where you are wrong!" said Novi stepping between Vida and Necrolai. "We may be a ranger down but one thing you seem to forget about us humans, that emotions only make us stronger and more determined to stop you than before. You have awoken something that you will soon wish you hadn't."

Necrolai just laughed at her words before she and the creature disappeared again.

Vida turned back to the statue of her sister. "We've got to get her back to Rootcore," she said.

Once back at Rootcore Udonna tried several spells in hopes of breaking the creature's spell but nothing was working meanwhile Vida paced angrily around the room.

"Sorveda Mercuius!" said Udonna as she waved her wand over Maddie's petrified form, but it too failed. "This creature's magic is very strong. Only by destroying him can the spell be broken."

"Oh I'll destroy him alright with my bare hands," said Vida through gritted teeth. Novi could sense her anger was close to boiling point and when she got like this, she tended to do something reckless, so she kept an eye on her.

Right on queue, Vida stormed off heading for the exit and Novi ran around the other way blocking her exit.

"Get out of my way!" she warned.

"No Vida hang on a sec. I get that you are pissed, but going off half-cocked isn't going to help anyone. We need to come up with a plan so otherwise, we'll all end up like Maddie and then no one would be left who could stop this creature. I don't think that is something you want."

"Xander is right. That's how Maddie got into trouble in the first place. She shouldn't have been out there alone," said Nick coming over to the pair.

"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Vida defensively.

"She probably got in over her head, V," said Nick.

"Man you don't know my sister," Vida snapped. "She may be shy on the outside but inside she's got the heart of a warrior."

"Right," said Nick sarcastically. "That's why she is always hiding behind that camera."

Vida strode toward Nick her hand balled into a fist and Novi was sure she was going to hit him. If there was one thing she knew about Vida, you can say whatever you liked about her, but speak ill of Maddie and it was a whole different ball game.

"You are so clueless," she hissed getting right in Nick's face. She pulled out her Morpher and pointed it at Maddie's camera. As she did one of the computers flickered to life as Maddie's most recent video began to play on the monitor.

"Introducing DJ Vida, The best sister ever," as clips of Vida on the turntables played. Novi smiled as her image appeared on the screen next. This is Novi, I've known her for years and she recently came back to Briarwood. She is an amazing dancer. Can't forget Xander- not only a good friend, but he is sick on his board. Chip Thorn, known him since grammar school. There is nobody in the world quite like Chip. Then there is Nick, the new guy in town. We don't know much about him yet, but I can feel it, he's something special. So those are my friends old and new. I know I can count on them for anything!"

The video ended and Vida sighed.

"Everyone has a different way of expressing themselves, Nick," said Udonna. "Maybe Madison does it through her films."

"You right, I was clueless," agreed Nick. "I shouldn't have gone shooting my mouth off," he finished with a sigh then headed over to her statue. "I'm going to get you out of this Maddie. I promise!"

As he spoke those words, behind them the Xenotome chimed, the pages flipping to a blank page. As Udonna went to check it words in the Ancient language appeared on the paper and Udonna smiled. "Apparently, you now have a clue."

"A new spell code," said Nick, flipping open his morpher.

The Crystal Ball gonged and the rangers checked it to see the creature had returned.

"He's back," Nick told them. "Are you ready to do this for Maddie?"

"Yeah, Let's Rock!" said Vida instantly regretting her choice of words given her sister's current state. "Sorry, Sis,"

"Ready," stated Nick as Novi and the others fell in line beside him.

"Magical Source, Mystic Force!"

Once morphed the Ranger called forth their broom and headed for the top of the tree to the exit designed for their racer, they took off into the skies heading for the city. However before they could reach the city, he heard Koragg's voice below them.

"Where do you think you are going Rangers? Bring them down!"

The rangers were forced to swerve their bikes to avoid the onslaught of dark energy beams as they streaked through the sky in their direction.

"It's an ambush!" said Chip as the hideacs below them continued to fire at them.

"You go ahead and stop that monster, I'll hold off Koragg and his goons," Nick ordered the others.

"Okay but be careful," warned Novi before she followed after the others.

"There he is!" said Vida pointing to a plaza below them.

"I'm just getting warmed up," said the creature roared as he turned more people in the plaza to stone.

Novi was the first on the scene as she leaped from her racer mid-air and kicked the monster knocking him away from a group of people. She heard the others landing around her as she stood ready to attack the monster.

"Magi staff, Crossbow!" Chip said aiming it and firing a lightning bolt directly at the monster but before the arrow reached its target Necrolai landed in front of the monster, deflecting the shot.

In return, Necrolai fired a barrage of dark energy balls at them, which knocked them off their feet. The five Ranger were soon back on their feet and in unison, they charged at Necrolai. Novi and Vida got to her first and Vida aimed for a punch while Novi tried to sweep her legs out from under her. Necrolai grabbed Vida's arm and twisted it, causing her to flip over and she landed hard on the ground. Necrolai then turned to her and grabbed her leg swinging her around and throwing her in Vida's direction. Seeing Vida and Novi down, Xander and Chip ran over to attack Necrolai but were met with the same results but it gave time for Vida and Novi to get back to their feet and rejoin the fight. Before the four teens could attack again Necrolai opened up her wings and spun in a circle as the claw-like points of her wings hit all of them knocking them back.

"They are all yours," said Necrolai looking down at the rangers at her feet.

"I'm gonna rock this world," the creature said as it moved it to attack or possibly turn the four of them into stone but before he could the rangers heard Nick's voice from behind the creature.

"Not on my watch."

The four teens watched as the creature was blasted by lasers from the front of Nick's new bike. The tires bounced as he landed on the ground and skid the bike to a stop in front of them, blocking any further attacks on them from the creature.

"Nick!" All Right!" cheered Vida

"I want a bike like that," said Chip.

Nick climbed off the bike, ignoring them, and faced the creature.

"You've done enough damage for one day. Magi Staff!"

"This is too easy," jeered the creature as it prepared to shoot its beams at Nick.

Nick didn't seem fazed by this attack but instead touched the top of his staff to the ground and spoke a spell that Novi didn't recognize. A mirror rose from the ground just in front of him and the beams were reflected at the creature hitting him in the chest as he turned to stone.

"How do you like that?"

"Power of the Phoenix!"

As Nick spoke those words fiery wings appeared around him and he flew at the creature, passing right through him and the creature crumbled reduced to a pile of rocks and dust. Before the teens could celebrate their victory a dark spell seal appeared underneath the remains as they shook and grew large before them.

"We've got to do something," said Xander.

"Yeah, but what without Maddie," started Novi when she suddenly run up to them.

"Maddie! You are okay," said Vida happily.

"Looks like I got here just in time," said Maddie.

"Hey Madison, I was a jerk. I'm sorry I said you were too shy," said Nick putting a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Apology accepted. Let's just forget about it," said Maddie, just then her phone chimed.

"Look," said Nick as she pulled it out.

She flipped it open to reveal a new spell code.

"I guess we both learned something today," said Maddie.

"Magical Source, Mystic Force!"

"Galwit Mystio Privor!"

"You can't handle this," jeered the creature.

"Let try my new spell code," suggested Maddie.

"Galwit Mystio Odus!"

The zord rose into the air like they always did but this time Xander's zord folded and became the body and feet, while Maddie's zord became the legs and armor, Nick's became the chest while Novi's split in two and became the arms. Chips folded and became wings while Vida became the chest plate of the newly formed Megazord. Now inside the cockpit of the Zord, the rangers were confused as to how to control it.

"Whoa this place is freaky," said Xander.

"You got that right," said Vida.

"I get it, the cockpit is like a chessboard. We control our fight with strategical moves," said Maddie.

"Hey, lucky for me I belong to the chess club at school," said Chip.

"Okay guys let's get serious," said Nick.

"Titan Megazord!"

"That doesn't scare me!" said the creature with a laugh. He shot a fireball in their direction but before it hit, the wings wrapped around the Zord shielding it from any damage.

The creature enraged that his attack failed charged at the Megazord but the teens called forth the Titan Saber and swung it in a wide arc knocking the creature back. Inside the cockpit, the podiums moved in a line and the teens held a hand over them as panels in front of them light up.

"Ancient power, Mystic Spell seal!" they called out and in the air, before them, a spell seal formed and they sent it at the creature it hit him and he exploded as it collapsed to the ground.

"Checkmate!"

A few days later the teens were in the Rock Porium and once again, Maddie was walking around filming what was going on in the record shop. Vida was back to the DJ tables, controlling the music in the store while the others milled around either helping customers or stocking the shelves Novi smiled as Maddie swung the camera in her direction before heading back to film Vida again.

"Make sure you get my good side," teased Vida and Novi laughed as she looked back to see Vida had turned around and was shaking her butt at the camera.

"She's right!" that is her best side," teased Novi laughing harder as Vida looked at her over her shoulder and stuck her tongue out at her.

Novi watched as the boy they had seen with Maddie before she had been turned to stone appeared in the store and began to look around.

"Can I help you?" she heard Chip ask him and Novi didn't catch his answer but Chip pointed to Maddie. The boy nodded and walked nervously up to her.

"Hey, Hi," said Maddie.

"I've been looking all over town for you, Maddie. I wanted to thank you for what you did the other day," he said.

"Oh…it was nothing," said Maddie a slight blush appearing on her cheeks

"Are you kidding? It was, incredibly brave. In fact, before that, it all happened…I was going to ask you out, but I guess I was too shy," said the boy.

"You were? Really?"

Novi smiled but just then a customer approached her and asked if they had any records by AC/DC. Once she had helped the customer find what they were looking for, she headed back to Vida as Nick approached them.

"Looks like Madison is trying to come out of her shell," said Nick approvingly.

"Yeah but if that guy hurts my sister," started Vida.

"Don't worry. She can take care of herself," said Nick reassuringly.
