Avengers: Age of Ultron | Saviors | The Vision
Wanda is standing next to her twin while he pants heavily, having just used a lot of his energy moving people out of the way from the incoming train until she could get it to stop.
"I just need a minute," Pietro waves off her concern - he just needs a moment's rest.
Steve walks over to them, leaving Bucky and Ava on the train for a moment to themselves. "I'm very tempted not to give you one," he states, getting the younger two to look up at him.
Wanda ignores what he said, the thing Ultron wants more than anything flashes in her mind. "The cradle?" She inquires, a serious amount of panic in her voice - it needs to be destroyed, or thrown away somewhere Ultron can never get his hands on it. "Did you get it?"
Steve looks over to her. "Stark will take care of it," he assures, having told Barton to get the thing straight to the genius. Bruce should be in the middle of helping Tony at this moment, figuring out a way to destroy the cradle and the thing inside…whatever it is.
Wanda blinks, looking gobsmacked by his answer. "No," she shakes her head slowly, already knowing full-well that Tony Stark will never just destroy something like that. "He won't," she tells him, having actually looked inside his head the first time they retrieved the scepter back in Sokovia. She knows everything about the man's fear.
Steve just stares at her for a moment, taking a note of the truthful conviction in her eyes at her own bold statement. He feels the need to defend his teammate…his friend. "You don't know what you're talking about," he insists. "Stark's not crazy."
'No, no, no…he doesn't understand,' Wanda says to herself in her head. She needs to get him to understand…all of them. "He will do anything to make things right." She looks straight into the Captain's eyes, almost begging him to believe her.
There's just a moment when Steve stares between the twins, but then her words finally start to make sense towards the man he knows. He actually believes her.
"Stark, come in," Steve taps on his earpiece, turning away from the pair, knowing everyone should still be connected to the line. "Stark…is anyone on coms?" But all he gets is silence the signal must have gone down because Bucky and Ava would have definitely replied to his call. The two are still just inside the train.
Wanda can guess what's happening - she's been in both Stark's head and Ultron's…they are very much alike.
"Ultron can't tell the difference between saving the world and destroying it," she explains, the Captain look over his shoulder towards her. "Where do you think he gets that?"
…
After hearing that Stark is most likely going to be doing the complete opposite of what should be doing…bringing whatever's inside that cradle, to life. Avery is furious, because after everything they've been through since the awakening of Ultron himself, it should have been a damn wake up call for the man.
But no, he's going to go and make an Ultron 2.0 behind everyone's back…again!
She enters the Stark building with her boys and the twins beside her, all of them heading straight up to where they know Bruce and Tony will be - the main lab.
"This framework is not compatible," Tony's voice reaches them as they exit the elevator.
Bruce is also there, as expected. "The genetic coding tower is at 97%." They walk into see what they are doing; watching as Bruce makes his way around to stand beside the cradle. "You have got to upload that schematic in the next three minutes.
They make their presence known. "We're gonna say this once," Bucky says, his tone hard as he looks between Bruce and Tony. Tony is the one to cut him off, though, they are so close to getting this right that they can't stop now.
"How about none-ce," Tony retorts, not listening.
Steve narrows his eyes. "Shut it down," he orders them like they are soldiers.
"Nope," Tony replies, putting an emphasis on the 'p.' "Not gonna happen." He goes over t another computer, not looking up at them as he speaks.
Ava's fists clench. "You have absolutely no idea what you are doing," she states, there are so many scenarios that could happen with whatever Ultron made in in that cradle, and none of them are good.
Bruce looks up at her with a raised eyebrow. "And you do?" He knows the girl is smart, both the soldier and whos he used to be, but even she has to agree that this is way out her league too. They are just trying to make things right again and putting Jarvis into this body sounds like the best plan. They'll have someone powerful on their side - they are never going to win against Ultron on their own.
They'd all die before the end was near.
"And she's not in your head?" Bruce harshly points towards Wanda, the bitch that messed with his mind…making him injure and/or kill hundreds of people. Because of her, he is now the terrifying creature he always thought of himself to be - everyone in the public is deeply afraid for their life because of him.
Wanda steps out from behind Ava, having stood behind the woman for a little protection - even though she knows full-well that she deserves none after everything she's created for the Avengers. Or more specifically, Winter and Dr. Banner. She looks towards Dr. Banner, knowing deep in her heart that there is no way she can ever make things right with him. She destroyed his life and probably his sanity because of her power. "I know you're angry."
Oh, he's more than angry. He's barely able to keep the other man inside of him - the guy wants to tear this girl to shreds. "Oh, we're way past that," he looks at her right in the eyes, nothing but the truth in them. "I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade." Ava reaches forwards, grabbing Wanda by the arm before slowly guiding her back behind - almost protectively.
Bucky takes a step forwards before that certain conversation gets too heated. "Banner, after everything that's happened-" Tony buts in, again.
"Is nothing compared to what's coming!" Tony insists.
Wanda looks at Stark desperately, no matter how much she despises him - they need him to stop this project from happening. "You don't know what's in there!"
"This isn't a game!" Steve yells, trying to knock some sense into these two scientists.
Pietro has just been standing there, looking between them all as they yell, but he comes up with a better solution, he runs. Within less than a second, the sound of a machine powering down echoes throughout the room - making everyone fall silent. Tony and Bruce, however, are looking at the cradle with wide-eyes - the power has been cut out.
Pietro throws down the power plug, essentially stopping their plan altogether. He never even realizes he's standing on a glass floor - one that Barton can see through.
Pietro raises an eyebrow towards the one man he still hates more than anyone else in the world. "No, no, go on. You were saying?" Suddenly, a gunshot sounds and as if it were in slow motion - Pietro watches as this bullet whizzes past him - coming up from the ground.
He doesn't even get a chance to realize what's happening, because, within less then a second, he's falling through a glass floor.
"Pietro!" Wanda screams, seeing him fall downwards, running towards the hole in the floor to make sure her twin is okay.
Tony isn't watching, trying to get his project back up and running. "I'm rerouting the upload," he calls over to Banner, doing exactly what he said.
Steve isn't having it though, he takes off his shield and throws it towards the machines, letting it bounce between them all. Bucky does the same with his but Ava is about to jump up to the small balcony where Tony is, she feels something shoot at her - throwing her back through a glass wall and into a very thick stone one. She crumbles to the ground before becoming knocked unconscious.
Tony has his Iron Man hand on and when Bucky sees what the man did to Ava, he is not in a happy mood, and neither is Steve. The two of them begin throwing their shields again.
Wanda's eyes widen, about to help as she charges up her power but is suddenly put in a choke-hold from behind. "Go ahead," a growl sounds in her ear, it's Bruce. "Piss me off," he dares her. He forgets to take into account that she has more than the power to manipulate minds; one of which she uses to push him away from her, letting her go - she pushes him back further and that's when Thor arrives to the party.
Ava is just starting to get up from the floor, her head a little foggy, but she wakes up just in time to see Thor jumping onto the cradle, his hammer lifts high above home ith lightning power radiating from it. After several seconds, he brings Mjolnir down towards the thing underneath him - powering up whatever is inside the cradle. Electricity flows dangerously around the machine, and if Thor weren't the God of lightning - he'd probably be dead right about now from the current.
Everyone is watching with either shock, horror, or disbelief when Thor is the one bringing this unknown being to life. When the lightning ceases to exist - there's a moment of silence. And suddenly, Thor is blasted off the Cradle before being slammed - much like Ava had - through several glass panels and bashed into a wall.
By this time, Bucky has moved over to Ava, helping her up and using his own body to protect her if need be. She has another cut on her forehead and this time, she knows there is going to be bruises down her back. Her accelerated healing should kick in at any time…thankfully.
Everyone in the room watches as the being inside the cradle literally flies out of it, now crouching on top with suspenseful silence. His skin is mixed between arts of red and another of dark metal. He looks like one of Tony's suits but more human.
The Vision looks up towards Thor as he slowly stands.
Thor pushes himself past the pain of being thrown the way he did. It's then, that the being springs from his position towards Thor. Out of instinct and reflex, Thor dodges and grabs him, throwing him away and towards another glass window that boxes the room.
The Vision is about to go past the point of flying out of the building, but suddenly, he stops in mid-air and he reflection of himself catches him off guard. It seems to spark something inside of him, making his mind hurdle a few times before gathering its bearings back to reality.
Everyone is instantly on guard, even Bruce and Tony - everyone is tense, not knowing what's going to happen next. Thor seems to know what he's doing though, holding his hand up in a way to stop everyone from attacking the new being.
It feels like minutes have gone by as the Vision finally turns around, seeing all the Avengers on the ground floor - the same place where the Avengers part was. The new being slowly drifts his body back to the floor, still trying to figure everything out. "I'm sorry," he finally speaks in a near monotone voice, apologizing towards Thor but glances to everyone else. "That was…" trying to figure out the right words. "Odd."
The Vision gives Thor a nod of gratitude for bringing him to life. "Thank you."
Steve takes a step forward, watching the being with wary eyes, much like how everyone else is. "Thor," he gains the God's attention as the Vision conjures himself a cape much like the God wears. "You helped create this?" Honestly shocked beyond belief, the man was the one to completely oppose to Tony's wacky experiments every time, especially when one of them ended up being Ultron.
"I've had a vision," Thor states, understanding how everyone might be feeling towards both him and the being he has just brought to life. "A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life, and at its center is that." Pointing towards the amber stone embedded into the Vision's forehead - the one gem that Helen herself reflected that it held a lot of power, enough to essentially wipe out a city or more.
"What?" Bruce takes a step forward, interest filling his veins. "The Gem?"
Thor gives a single nod. "It's the Mind Stone," he answers. "It's one of the six Infinity Stones. The greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities."
Bucky cocks an eyebrow, giving the God an incredulous look. He keeps a secure arm around Ava, keeping her close. "So, then why did you-" Thor cuts him off before the question has even began.
"Because Stark is right."
And then everything goes silent; you can almost hear the crickets outside hopping with horror at the statement.
Bruce is the first one to say what's on everyone's minds. "Oh, it's definitely the end times," he mutters with a serious note, wondering if he has been put under Wanda's spell again without him turning into the other guy this time.
Thor ignores his statement. "The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron," he speaks honestly, as much as he hates to admit it himself.
"Not alone," the Vision agrees, taking over for the God.
As the being speaks once more, Steve narrows his eyes with recognition fluttering in his mind. "Why does your Vision sound like Jarvis?" Remembering the automated voice, the two voices have an uncanny resemblance.
Tony is still in a bit of shock that Thor, the great God himself, has basically approved of something he has done out on a whim. "We…" he starts, looking his Vision up and down - the body where Jarvis is now occupying. "Reconfigured Jarvis' matric…to create something new."
Ava touches the wound on her head, grimacing when she sees warm blood on her hands. "I think I'm starting to hate the word 'new'," she grumbles with irritation, reminding herself to punch Tony out of the building later.
Bucky obviously hears. "Me too." Agreeing full-heartedly.
The Vision paces around the room, getting a feel for the team. "You think I am a child of Ultron," he summarizes, realizing what everyone - apart from three - is thinking.
Steve is still tense with readiness. "You're not?" Not fully believing him.
"I'm not Ultron," the Vision starts, but does look thoughtful on the subject. "I'm not Jarvis either. I am…I am." He doesn't really know who or what he really is, but he does know where his morals lay.
Wanda takes a step forward, her eyes narrow with accusation. "I looked into your head and saw annihilation." Remembering back to the vision she saw in the lab earlier on today when this being was still in the cradle. The fear and pain she felt the moment it flashed before her eyes.
The Vision knows he needs to defend himself. "Look again," he requests, knowing she'll see him in a different light this time if she does.
Clint scoffs from behind not trusting Wanda anyway. "Her seal of approval means jack to me." Which is probably the same for Bruce too.
Thor knows he needs to intervene, so he takes a step forward. "Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself. All of this came from the Mind Stone," he explains. "And they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with it on our side-" Avery is the one to cut him off this time.
"Is it, though?" She gets everyone's attention, moving out of Bucky's grip slightly as she stares at this 'Vision.' She doesn't really know what to make of it just yet, but she knows it needs to prove itself more than anything before she can either deem it to be an ally or an enemy. The Vision turns towards her. "Are you? On our side?"
A deep set of though drives into the Vision's features. "I…don't think it's that simple," he admits, not looking at anything or anyone in particular, but rather looking into his head for a physical answer to what he feels.
Clint doesn't like that answer. "Well, it better get real simple, real soon." The end fight is near and they need to know whether this thing is on their side or not.
It takes another moment, but the Vision replies, having found the answer needed. "I am on the side of life," he tells everyone, looking around to all their awaiting faces. "Ultron isn't. He will end it all."
Tony tilts his head in interest. "What's he waiting for?" Knowing this being has been connected to Ultron at least for a small amount of time - he'll know what Ultron's thinking for sure.
"You."
Bruce frowns, knowing that's coming. "Where?"
Clint is the one to answer, this time, already having found the answer about half-an-hour earlier in his quest to locate the redhead. "Sokovia," he answers, glancing over to the Maximoff twins. "He's got Nat there, too."
Bruce takes a daring step towards the Vision, and although he feels like they can trust this thing, there's still an inch of doubt in him. "If we're wrong about you…if you're the monster that Ultron made you out to be-" He leaves his sentence hanging.
The Vision can guess where the sentence is going to end, but inquires anyway, "What will you do?" He looks around to see how everyone is reacting and all he gets are hardened expressions, even from Tony and Thor - it was a gamble bringing this thing to life, they just hope deeply that they won't be betrayed in their decisions.
"I don't want to kill Ultron," the Vision admits with honestly. "He is unique and he is in pain. But, that pain will roll over the Earth. So, he must be destroyed." He's heading back towards his original place beside Thor. "Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net.
"We have to act now and not one of us can do it without the other."
Everyone looks around to each other, starting to feel a little more comfortable with the presence of this being. But there's one thing they do believe overall form his words - they all need to work together in order to survive and conquer this threat.
"Maybe I am a monster," the Vision looks down at himself, honestly not sure. He was only born about ten minutes ago. "But I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are, and not what you intended. So, there may be no way to make you trust me.
"But we need to go."
The Vision turns around, bending over slightly before turning back towards Thor, holding out something that makes everyone's eyes widen with shock. The Vision is holding Thor's almighty hammer. Thor stares down at his hammer in the hands of the new being he has just brought into the world and he blinks hard, wondering if he's seeing things. Maybe he is still in the magical waters where he's able to re-see his vision?
Slowly, Thor grabs the hammer from him - realizing that this is real.
As the hammer is taken from his grip, the Vision walks away with everyone staring at his back - their eyes either gleaming with now-built trust - since the hammer can only be lifted by the 'worthy' according to Thor. No one seems to hold anymore harshness towards the new being, now just acting more surprised than anything.
Thor shifts uncomfortable, not sure what just happened. He pats his hammer into his other palm, clearing his throat. "Right," he nods to himself before starting to move, but just as he passes Tony, he gives the man a heavy pat on the shoulder. "Good job." That's it before he leaves the room much like the Vision had done.
Bucky clears his throat after sharing a look with Steve and Ava, cutting the silence the scene earlier left. "Three minutes. Gear up…get everything you need and we'll be off."
