Kakashi sat in a dumpling shop watching the genin and the drama that was happening. He had followed them to make sure Sasuke hadn't dumped Naruto. He was pleased to see that they were actually getting along with quite well. 'Sasuke's taking good care of him. He even bought him something' the jonin thought. 'It's almost like a first date' he chuckled.
Kakashi huffed 'Those two... it'll be interesting to see how their relationship progresses. Wonder how long it'll take for them to realise it though' He sighed and exited the dumpling shop.
Close by, a girl in a black cloak had also been watching. She smiled mischievously. 'Well well. This sure is interesting' she thought.
Meanwhile as Kakashi was walking, he passed by Ichiraku. It just so happened that Iruka exited the shop at that moment. When he saw Kakashi he smiled and greeted him. Kakashi heart jumped when he saw Iruka and he smirked under his mask.
The two began chatting as they walked. Iruka asked about Kakashi's well being at once.
"I hope you're feeling better. Did you have the breakfast I made you?" Iruka asked.
"Oh yes I did. It was really good. I'm surprised you learnt to cook so well despite living on your own." Kakashi started flattering him immediately.
"Well...it's not as good as Ichiraku. But I'm glad you liked it" Iruka said. "Also I'm sorry about yesterday..."
"What's there to be sorry about? You helped me Iruka. And I'm very thankful" Kakashi said.
Yesterday, his nightmares had frightened him and quite a lot. Add to that the headache and his left eye feeling as though it was about to pop. If he had been alone god knows how he whether he would've been able to sleep or not.
"It's fine Kakashi sen...Never mind, just Kakashi right?" Iruka smiled. "If you ever need me to accompany you please don't hesitate to call me".
"Yes I certainly will..." Kakashi said in a sly tone, with a glimmer in his eyes. Iruka certainly noticed it and smiled shyly. Kakashi then asked "In a few days, perhaps we could go get a drink together?"
"Sure. I'd love to. Though...my alcohol tolerance isn't good" Iruka chuckled.
"Don't worry too much. If anything happens I'll carry you back to your home" Kakashi said in a flirty tone.
Iruka chuckled and blushed. He looked at Kakashi and said "Well...it's too bad I only have one bed"
Kakashi was taken by surprise. He laughed and Iruka did so as well.
Behind them in the crowd, the girl in the black cloak listened to their conversation. Once she heard what they were saying her face turned red. 'Oh my God...what the hell are...scratch that, why are they talking about this in broad daylight! Ahhhh!' she thought, and proceeded to nosebleed at the thought.
'Damn you! Stupid leader... Sending me off on a mission alone... Not that I mind watching all the cut sleeves* around here'. Again, she chuckled while blushing wildly. 'This is definitely way more fun than those two young boys from earlier'.
{*cut sleeves= gay people.}
'In any case, why did the leader tell me to keep an eye on this jonin? Because he has that sharingan on his left eye ?...No there has to be more to it' the girl thought.
She remembered what the leader had discussed with her just yesterday.
"Is that all?" she asked.
"Yes. See if you can find any useful information. Don't be rash though." he replied.
"I know, I know. Anyway besides the one you told me about, are there any others you'd like me to observe?" she said.
The leader was silent for a moment. "Keep an eye on the Uchiha boy in that village. His name is Sasuke I believe" he finally said. And... also the copy ninja Kakashi Hatake"
"Why him?" she asked. The cave where they currently stood suddenly let a cold breeze pass through. It was a while before the man spoke.
"He has a sharingan on his left eye" the leader replied.
"Assuming that his last name isn't Uchiha, his sharingan shouldn't be that big of a deal. So why?" she asked again.
"Just do as I say" the leader said in a commanding tone.
"Oooooo someone's angry" she teased. "This guy must be important if you specifically mentioned him. Is he someone special? Or perhaps...he's your e-"
She was cut short as the man gave her a menacing look. She raised her eyebrows and put her hands in the air. "Okay...okay. I'll keep an eye on him for you. Relax."
Even though the leader wore a mask she could still tell that he was...emotional all of sudden. She found it to be very strange.
Kakashi and Iruka were still walking down the street. They chatted about work and other minor things. Iruka talked about the new genin and Kakashi listened to him. For some reason he didn't feel bored at all. Just being able to see him smile and hear his voice made Kakashi happy. 'I've never felt like this with anyone else I tried going out with' he thought.
"Also I've arranged a good mission for you and your team" said Iruka.
"Really? Thanks" Kakashi said.
"It's nothing. I'm just doing my job" Iruka replied.
When they reached a crossroad Iruka told Kakashi "I'm going to take a shortcut to the alley on the left. Will you go keep going straight?"
"Well...I actually need to buy something. I've been out for some fresh air because I lost my book. I'll probably have to buy a new one" Kakashi said, making up an excuse to stay with Iruka for a while longer. It wasn't entirely a lie though. He had lost his book. He was just too lazy (and way to excited having breakfast made by Iruka) to actually search for it.
"Oh alright then. Let's keep going" said Iruka.
The walked into the small long alley. There was no one around and the end was far ahead. Iruka looked over at Kakashi, mesmerized at how beautiful he looked. Yet he seemed to have a painful look in his eye and it made Iruka think if he was a lonely. Out of nowhere he suddenly asked "Kakashi...how long have you lived by yourself?"
Kakashi sighed "20 years...?...Yeah probably"
Iruka felt his heart drop like a stone thrown in a pond. He lived all by himself but there was something else that was really bothering the jonin. Just by looking into his eye Iruka could tell he has suffered more than anyone could ever comprehend.
He didn't realise that he had been staring at Kakashi.
"Iruka? What's the matter?" Kakashi asked.
Iruka was thinking of the night before when he had seen Kakashi cry and begged to be forgiven. Iruka has been curious ever since. Why was he in so much pain? What was it that he wanted forgiveness for?
By now, both of them had stopped walking. Kakashi looked deep into Iruka's eyes. In those eyes he saw emotions of worry, the desire to protect and...love.
The two looked at each other and Iruka brought his hand to Kakashi's face. He caressed his cheek and stroked his silver hair. Kakashi felt his heart thrum and he smiled.
The Hatake then grabbed Iruka's wrist and his other arm wrapped around his waist. Iruka responded by putting his other arm on top of Kakashi's shoulder.
Meanwhile the girl in the black cloak looked at the sun and estimated the time. 'I need to head back and report' she thought. She decided to take one last look at the two men but they were nowhere on the main street. She looked around and saw a small alley on the left. She walked over and peeked into the alley. The sight that met her eyes made her nosebleed until she could no longer think straight. (Not that she herself was straight nor what was happening was either).
Iruka closed the gap between their faces and as soon as he did, Kakashi pulled his mask down.
The two were completely lost in the moment. With Iruka against the wall Kakashi locked his lips with Iruka. He kissed him hungrily but ever so delicately as if savouring a dessert. Iruka's heartbeat sped up so fast that he could feel it hammering against his chest. He felt an electrifying shiver spread throughout his body and thought 'He's good. He tastes good too. Amazing...'
Kakashi's heart fluttered as he kissed Iruka. When Iruka decided to put his arms around the jonin, Kakashi licked and sucked at his lower lip. Iruka hummed in satisfactory pleasure. Then, Iruka pulled him closer and daringly bit Kakashi's lip slightly.
'God. He sure knows how to get me excited' Kakashi chuckled a bit then kissed him even deeper and slipped his tongue inside.
{a/n: insert kissing noises
& intense sound effects. }
At this point Iruka was a mess. The sounds coming from him made Kakashi kiss him even more deeply and fiercly. They kissed and explored each other thoroughly before finally realising that they needed air.
When they pulled back both of them were gasping desperately. Iruka looked at Kakashi with his beautiful dark eyes and a serene smile on his face. Kakashi smiled back and tucked a strand of Iruka's brown hair behind his ear.
"Kakashi. I never thought you were the type to indulge" Iruka said. "You seem to have more emotion than I thought"
Kakashi paused for a moment. His heart suddenly plunged and he began to panic. Painful memories and tragic moments surfaced his mind. He stepped back, distancing himself from Iruka. "No...no. I can't...I can't do this" he mumbled. His chest tightened, his breaths became short and his emotions spiralled out of control
"Kakashi, why? What's the matter? Talk to me?!" Iruka desperately called. It pained him to see Kakashi like this, on the verge of tears and panicking uncontrollably.
Kakashi stumbled back. His head hurt badly and clawed at the left side of his head. Memories of his past flashed in his mind...and...was it raining?
'You know you're too bad. You have more emotions than I thought.' he had said. And with a serene smile he told him "It's just that you don't show them. If you're willing too though...that's a different story"
Then on a full moon night as his life came to an end he had said "Don't let her feel lonely. Please...protect her...cherish her...just like you have with me".
But he wasn't able to fulfill his promise. He had failed. Countless times he had made countless promises. Yet he wasn't able to keep them.
Everything was gone and he couldn't risk it again.
Kakashi managed to steady his breathing and said to Iruka "I...just need some time alone. I'm sorry Iruka". With that he disappeared in a whizz.
Iruka was heartbroken and also worried 'Why? What happened to him?' he wondered.
As he pondered he realised that someone in the past must've left him. Kakashi was stuck in his past remembering all the tragedies. The thought made Iruka's heart heavy and it took all his will power to not follow Kakashi.
-
Kakashi stood at the top of a building leaning against the railing, taking short gasps of breaths. His tears kept flowing and he removed his headband to reveal his sharingan eye.
He wiped his tears but the tears kept coming. 'Please I'm sorry. I'm sorry I let her die...' he thought.
-
In a faraway land, as the rain poured down from the sky the man looked over the horizon. He stood atop the palm of what looked to be a fearsome statue of a god.
His head suddenly hurt and he couldn't help but remember his past. He suddenly saw something and lowered his head when he realised what had happened. 'Damn you' he thought.
The rain kept on pouring.
-
While at Konaha, a cool breeze rushed past as if eager to go somewhere. Kakashi's tears kept on flowing and he took a shaky breath.
'Iruka...I'm sorry. I'm terribly sorry. I just...I just...'
'I don't want to lose someone because of my foolishness'
'Especially someone I love'
The girl in the black cloak trudged quietly through the path in the forest. She walked slowly with many thoughts crossing her mind. A soft breeze form the north made the leaves dance and the sunlight peek from the gaps between the tree branches. She stopped for a moment and looked upwards at her left, admiring a tall beautiful tree.
'The young shinobi here...they seem so carefree and at peace...' she thought. She remembered the blonde haired boy who she had seen with the young Uchiha. 'That boy is a jinchuriki...No doubt he'll be killed'
The thought gave her a sickening feeling at the pit of her stomach.
Finally she decided to sit down against the tree she had set her eyes on earlier. From her backpack she took out a scroll, a brush and and a bottle of ink. She opened the scroll which was blank, and dipped her brush in the ink. It was a while before she began to write.
Her strokes were strong but swift, at times curving but still precise. With every sentence she gulped and soon her eyes were filled with tears.
The sun shines yet it does not smile,
The leaves dance in the wind yet without content,
The eagles cry in the vast sky yet not with joy,
These eyes can no longer see the colours of this world.
Past memories make me afraid,
Present happenings make me depressed,
Future possibilities make me anxious,
Only these I can feel, joy and anticipation are lost.
Laughter echoes in this dreaded silence,
Hearing it brings me no happiness at all,
In this cold and empty abandoned mansion,
There lives only me and the shadows.
The pitch black emptiness chews at my heart,
Its darkness erasing my memories of emotions,
The fear of having only a flicker of my soul left,
No longer can I feel anything but empty sorrow.
The warmth of life and its dazzling promises,
All shattered bringing me nothing but pain,
Sorrow after sorrow I kept pushing onwards,
Fighting it, I may have attained victory,
But the wounds of my battles are too severe for me to live on.

Finallyshecould no longer hold it in. She dropped her brush on the ground and starting crying, at times almost screaming. Her wails were heard only by the birds and animals of the forest.
The feeling that weighed on her made her hands and legs tremble. She went on crying taking shaky, desperate breaths. With every second that passed she felt as if she couldn't breathe.
Memories of her past surfaced in her mind. The memories that had haunted her and drove her to what she was feeling.
A young boy with black hair and a bright smile. He was being bandaged by her own hands and seemed to be blushing nervously. He looked at her and chuckled.
But that all changed...
A full moon night. She stood atop a tree branch. Below her on the ground was someone with silver hair. The person's leg was badly injured. She herself had a severe wound on her stomach.
But that wasn't what terrified her.
It was the scene that she saw in front of her.
She saw the same smiling but being held by the neck. She saw the assailant take out his sword. She saw the maniacal look in his eyes as he stabbed the young boy, then slashed his body apart over and over and over and...
Thegirl gasped and clutched her hair. She was breathing heavily and sweating profusely. Her hands and legs were still trembling. She finally realised that she had a kunai, only centimetres away from her throat.
The girl forced herself to calm down by taking deep long breaths. She put the kunai back in her pouch and tidied her brush and ink. She left the scroll and instead closed her eyes. She listened to the sounds in the forest; the chirping of different birds, the rustle of leaves as an animal passed by and felt the sweet wind rush against her face.
As she relaxed she stroked her hair. She had clutched it a bit too tightly earlier. She smiled for a moment feeling the tangles in her hair and thinking how beautiful it was.
Her beautiful hair of silver-black.
