In the Last Chapter
At that time King Ragnok III returned, wearing an extremely furious expression. He had a book and a document in his hand. He shouted, "That old codger and the harpy of the Weasleys tried to set up an illegal marriage contract between Harry James Potter and Ginerva Molly Weasley!"
The eyes of all the foreign magicians sharply rose at the news, while Harry Potter and Susan Bones had horrified expressions etched on their faces.
All of them shouted altogether at once, "WHAT?!"
Arthur and Tatsuya's eyes narrowed and both looked at each other.
Kristofer Pendragon roared, "Attempt of Line Theft?!" Marylene and Ariana Pendragons vigorously nodded at this. Artemis and Miyuki shared a questioning glance at each other and then Miyuki narrowing her eyes asked, "How was this possible, Lord Ragnok?"
Ragnok nodded gravely and said, "Yes...After the Dark Lord's disappearance, in an emergency session of the Wizengamot, Albus Dumbledore took the magical guardianship of Mr. Potter, in this meeting and sealed the Potter Will in "public interest". Most probably, after that, he had arranged this bloody marriage contract with the girl child of the Weasley family!"
This entire time Arthur was silent. But then he spoke with a calm and composed expression, "Ragnok, what do you mean by he 'tried to set up?"
Ragnok then said, "Yes they tried to set up but they failed to do so. Although Dumbledore assumed the position of the magical guardian of Mr. Potter, it requires the permission of the Heads of both the Houses, and in this case, the signature of House Potter is not there, so this contract is invalid."
Harry released a deep breath that he was unknowingly holding. Susan also did the same, which went unnoticed by all.
Arthur looked at Tatsuya and said, "Can you analyze it once?" The Japanese male nodded and took the document from the Goblin King. For few seconds he looked attentively at it and then said, "Hmm...looks like a compulsion charm is placed on it...and some other arrays of charms..." Arthur had a look of concern, "Can it be destroyed?"
Tatsuya smiled, "Easily" and then put the paper on a nearby table, and then Harry saw him pulling...a silver-colored gun(?) from his belt holster. Although it looked like an ordinary gun, it was anything but ordinary.
The device was called Silver Horn: Trident. It was a compact, long barrel hand gun-shaped specialized CAD (A/N: Casting Assistance Device- same as the functions of a regular wand, for those who don't know the anime The Irregular at the Magic High School ) with two vertical slits as its muzzle.
Tatsuya pointed the Silver Trident at the paper and pulled the trigger of the gun-shaped CAD. Within a fraction of a second, the document levitated in the air and glowed for a while, and then with a shimmer of light, it dropped down like a dead on the table.
Tatsuya Shiba just now used the world's second most powerful magic demolition/cancellation spell: [Program Demolition].
Tatsuya picked up the paper and with a single look at it declared, "Now it is perfectly okay. No chance of this contract to ever come into effect." The rest of them released a deep breath.
Arthur looked at Ragnok and said, "Better to keep this contract intact, for the time being, so that we can use this in the future as proof when we will take actions against them."
Then he turned to face Harry. Amber-blue eyes met green eyes. Arthur said, "I need to watch your memories."
"Huh?!" Harry was stunned. Watch my memories? Why?
Arthur nodded, "Yes. I need to know what happened throughout your life before taking the necessary actions. I need to know how much exactly did you suffer, throughout your life, because of too much of the old codger's meddling in your life."
Harry was uncertain. He did not want to show what had happened in his life. Arthur once again said, "Trust me, Harry. Until and unless I get to know all the facts correctly, I won't be able to help you to the fullest of my abilities."
Seeing the warm amber-blue eyes of the young Lord, Harry felt the reassurance he needed. So he decided to take the gambit. He sighed, "Very well then, see."
Arthur looked back at Miyuki Shiba who simply nodded in return. Miyuki went up to Harry and said, "This won't hurt. This magic is called [Recall] and it will allow us to view the required memory we want." Harry simply nodded.
[Recall] is a special type Mental-Interference Type, Outer-Systematic Magic, that could literally make the caster and her guests 'live' the subject's entire life.
She touched his forehead, pushed the necessary commands in her CAD, and used [Recall].
Harry Potter's entire life flashed in every living person's mind. His life in the hands of Dursleys: the physical and mental abuse he faced whenever he ever showed any signs of accidental magic, the trauma he faced from all those abuses; his life at Hogwarts: first-year facing the killer of his parents, second-year facing the basilisk with nothing but a sword, third-year saving his godfather directly from the impending hands of death, and in the fourth-year being against the entire school along with his only true friend Susan Bones.
For few moments, after watching the memories nobody had uttered a single word when Susan Bones crying, "Oh Harry!" fiercely hugged him. She was openly crying placing her head on his chest. He tried to calm her down by murmuring soothing words.
Others were not looking too good themselves.
Kristofer and Marylene looked as if they would puke any moment. Ever passive-looking Tatsuya was also twitching lips dangerously. Ariana, Artemis, Daenerys, and Miyuki were deathly pale. And Arthur?
Before Harry could even see Arthur's expression, an invisible wave filled with magic hit him and made him and Susan fall to the ground.
Lord Arthur Pendragon the Seventh was shrouded with a deathly vermillion and gold coloured aura. At that time Harry understood, why the Hogwarts students were shaking simply just by hearing his name. A similar amount of fear crept into Harry's heart.
"Lord Pendragon CALM DOWN!" King Ragnok shouted while taking shelter under his table, trying to avoid the wrath of the Head of the Pendragons.
Ariana and Artemis quickly ran up to him and hugged him, while murmuring soothing words in an attempt to control his rage.
After few moments, his rage finally receded. He took some deep and long breaths to cool his mind down. He looked at Harry with his glowing amber-blue eyes that were radiating unadulterated rage. Oddly enough, he found that gaze comforting and calming.
Arthur Pendragon, with a deep voice, said, "I promise you, Harry, that I will personally avenge for all the injustices you faced in this world. I will crush those under my foot for whom you had to face such a pathetic childhood. All of them shall face the Wrath of the Pendragons and will taste the sharpness of my blade."
Harry unknowingly tightened his embrace around Susan and nodded with a sense of confidence and affirmation that was missing all these years, "So what do we do now?"
Arthur smiled seeing his new family's growing confidence, "First we plan..."
Time: 1:03 p.m.
Harry Potter, Arthur Pendragon the Seventh, and his friends exited the goblin bank of Gringotts.
Arthur looked at his watch and said, "We still have a lot of time" and looked at Tatsuya, Miyuki, Daenerys and said, "You all know what to do?" All the three of them nodded. "Good. Will see you three in the Ministry then. Best of luck!" With that, all three of them apparated from the Diagon Alley.
Harry asked, "Where did they go?" With a mischievous glint in his eyes, Arthur said, "To set the stage in the Ministry for our upcoming debut performance in Great Britain."
Harry and Susan's eyes widened. They looked at each other and identical wide grins appeared on each of their faces. Oh! The two couldn't wait for the drama to unfold! Arthur, Ariana, and Artemis simply smiled at their eagerness.
"Anyway..." Arthur once again began speaking, drawing the attention of his other four companions, "...the dress you are wearing..." pointing at Harry's school robes, "...is not at all befitting a Lord of a Noble House, much less a Lord of Royal and Imperial House of the 18 Assistant Houses, so change of attire is in order..."
Harry blinked once, twice. Then he understood the meaning of the Pendragon Lord's words. Harry quickly said, "Is that necessary? I mean..." This Artemis Olympia cut him off, "Yes it's very necessary." She said firmly. "A Lord of Royal and Imperial House, wearing old-torn robes, in his debut performance, what kind of message those upstart pureblood Lords will get... besides you should also start enjoying this life a bit..."
Ariana Pendragon smiled, "Yeah, you have lived a life that no one should live, so you have indeed earned the right to spend some money in the luxury..."
Arthur inwardly grinned at the interaction of his companions.
"Also..." Arthur looking at Harry and Susan, "...Miss Bones should also get something new and fashionable to wear, after all, it is not proper for the future Lady Potter-Peverell to be just in school robes in her lover's debut performance..." Lord Pendragon finished with a smirk. Ariana and Artemis simply had identical wide grins on their faces.
And Harry and Susan? Well, they were blushing furiously and tried to deny that they were not lovers. But a stray thought did appear in their minds, 'Lady Susan Amelia Potter-Peverell, hmm...doesn't sound bad...' The moment it appeared in each of their minds, they again blushed furiously.
Arthur grinned and said, "Well, jokes apart, both of you need a new dress, so which shop do you think is good around here?" He motioned around the Diagon Alley.
Susan said, "Well, there is Madam Malkin, which make fine robes..." Arthur pondered for a while, "Well okay then, let's go there!" he said enthusiastically.
The group entered the famous British wizarding clothes store, Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. Hearing the opening sound of the bell of the door, the owner of the shop, Madam Malkin, rushed to greet the day's customers. Seeing, five teenagers, all probably, school students, two of them Hogwarts students whom she knew very well, Harry Potter and Susan Bones.
Madam Malkin was a bit confused. Nevertheless, she maintained her professionalism. She kindly asked, "Yes, how may I help you all?"
Arthur said in a charming voice, "Hello mam, Harry and Susan in here..." pointing at the two Hogwarts students, continued, "...need House robes..."
House robes were the formal robes that consist of the concerned House's Crest and Motto. Generally worn by the Heads of the Houses and their Heirs in, formal meetings and gatherings.
Madam Malkin nodded understanding the matter. "Okay, the men's section is on the left and for the women's collection, follow me..." stating that she guided Susan, Ariana, and Artemis in another part of the store.
"Hmm...let's see..." Arthur murmured. While he critically evaluated every colour available, Harry couldn't refrain from asking his doubts that were whirling in his mind since the moment he got to know that all of them had come to his aid, "Why are you doing all of these?"
Arthur turned to face the new Lord Peverell, he gave a small smile and said, "You know, I indeed would have worried, had you never asked this question..." Then he said, "Indeed why am I doing this? What is there for me? What would I gain? These are the questions which are whirling in your mind right?" Harry nodded a bit hesitantly.
Lord Pendragon said, "To be honest, I, personally have nothing to gain. But, speaking about the entire Magical World at large, House of Peverell is dearly missed by everyone. There are many, who will freely give their lives to protect the last member of the Peverell Family. Besides..." Arthur had a faraway look, "...the Grand Family of Pendragon had been incomplete for so many centuries. So I thought what the previous Heads of the Pendragons could not do in so many years, I decided to do one of the first things after taking the Lordship. Had this Triwizard Tournament incident not taken place, I would have approached you when you have attained your majority. So, I guess, this Tournament came as a blessing in disguise, for both of us. I united the Grand Family of Pendragon and the group of 18 Assistant Houses for once and for all, and you received a family, an extended family, but a family nevertheless who shall take care of you..."
Harry was touched by the auburn-haired boy's words. Before he could reply anything back, Arthur, in turn, asked, "By the way...why did you instantly believe in us, when we said that we came to help you? I mean, we were and still are practically strangers. We could have had malicious intentions against you? Why did you believe us?"
Harry had no answers. Yes, the question did arise in his mind, why did he instantly believe them? They could have had harboured ill intentions against him? So, why?
Harry took some moments to answer. He looked at the ceiling and said, "To be honest, I still don't know. After all my friends abandoned me, except Susan, after the entire school declared me a pariah a second time, after all the Chamber of Secrets debacle in my second year, I thought and decided that I could not trust anyone except Susan anymore in the school. So when you all came, I was not fully sure whether to trust you all or rather, whether you all were telling the truth or not. But the reactions of the purebloods and Susan told me this much that your claims had some ounce of truth at least."
Harry sighed, "Truly speaking, I was a bit wary of trusting you all, but my guts were telling something else. So I took a gamble because I thought at that time 'What's the worse could happen?' So I listened to my instincts, and put my blind faith in you guys...guess I was not wrong..." He gave a genuine smile and said, "So, I would like to thank all you guys. Had you guys not come to my and Susan's rescue, I really don't know what would have had happened to me in the Tournament, much less, the remaining of my school life at Hogwarts. So I thank you all of you from the bottom of my heart!"
Lord Arthur Pendragon the Seventh, Head of the Royal and Arcane House of Pendragon, was absolutely stunned. He had no words for reply. Finally, he gave a rare smile reserved for a very few close people in this world, and said, "You are welcome." Harry nodded at him with the same smile lingering on his face.
Once again remembering, the job at hand, Arthur said, "So what colour do you think?"
"I don't remember coming to Diagon Alley for a shopping spree for you two was a part of the plan..." Lord Arthur Pendragon the Seventh said with an unamused expression looking at the variety of clothes selected by his two female partners from Avalon, for themselves obviously.
Ariana Pendragon and Artemis Olympia at least had the humility to look sheepish at the accusation. Ariana in a sweet tone said, "Hey Nee-san, won't you buy your favourite imouto what she wants?" She batted her eyelids.
(A/N: imoto= younger sister; and nee-san=older brother/sibling in Japanese. Well, anime fans will definitely know about it :) )
Arthur raised his eyebrows, "Oh pray tell me dear imouto, what makes you think that your Nee-san will buy you such lavish assortment of designer clothes when you already have a couple of wardrobes filled with years of not worn designer dresses and clothing?"
Ariana with an extremely girly voice said, latching her arm with that of her twin's, "Because, you are my favourite older brother, and older brother should always spoil their younger and little sister!"
Harry, Susan, Artemis, and Madam Malkin looked at the twin's interaction with amused expressions.
Arthur sighed, knowing it was futile to argue the matter with his precious imouto. So he looked warily at Artemis and said, "And you?"
Artemis said, "Well I can pay for myself..." showing her purse. Arthur once again sighed, 'Both you are way too precious for me, so I can't say no to you all at all...And you all exploit me for that reason way too much! Not FAIR!'
"Okay! Okay! I will pay for all of you! No need to resort to such extreme means to emotionally blackmail me!" Arthur grumbled.
Artemis and Ariana high-fived each other and then Ariana and Artemis both giving Arthur a small peck on each of his cheeks said, "Thank you, Nee-san!" "Thank you, Arthur!"
Arthur reddened a bit.
Harry had chosen a vermillion-brown robe along with a cerulean blue cloak, while Susan had chosen a buff-yellow robe along with a viridian green cloak.
"You took look fantastic!" Ariana cried. "Indeed" Artemis agreed, and Arthur simply nodded with approval. Madam Malkin asked, "Now the House Crests..." She turned to Susan and pointed her wand. House of Bones Crest: A Crowned Raven; with the Family motto: Bone of My Bones; appeared on the upper left side of Susan's robe.
Many times Madam Malkin had to prepare robes for Amelia Bones, Susan's aunt and Lady Regent of Ancient and Nobles House of Bones in Wizengamot. So, she knew very how the Bones Crest looked like. But she had no idea how the House Potter Crest looked like.
In an apologetic tone, she said, "Sorry Mr. Potter. But I have no idea how the Potter Family Crest looks like, so until and unless I get a-" But she was cut off by Arthur Pendragon's voice, "No need Madam, I can help..." With that he raised his left arm, pointing at his chest, and conjured the Peverell Family Crest: a vertical line and circle enclosed by a triangle- the symbol of Deathly Hallows. Along with that appeared the Peverell Family motto: Arcus ad mortem (Bow to Death).
Madam Malkin gasped, "You can do Wandless magic!" Arthur simply grinned, "practiced a bit simply..."
Seeing the Crest, Madam Malkin had a strange feeling. Internally she thought, 'Where have I seen that Crest? In a book? Can't remember...'
Pushing all her thoughts away for the moment, she asked her young customers, "Is that all? May I start the billing?" Arthur nodded affirmatively.
While billing, Madam Malkin couldn't help herself from asking the question that had been lingering in her head for quite some time. She looked at Arthur, Ariana, and Artemis and said, "Pardon my intrusion, but I have never seen the three of you earlier in Diagon Alley. Are you all new students?" Harry and Susan felt a bit tensed.
But Arthur with his calm and composed voice said, "No, no, we are foreign students, from the continent, you see..." Realization dawned upon the British wizarding garments shop owner. But then she looked at Harry and Susan, and said, "If I am not wrong...Hogwarts is supposed to have classes right now..." Nobody missed the question 'You all shouldn't be here missing classes' but Arthur smoothly covered up, "All classes were cancelled today, you see, because of the sudden proclamation of State of Emergency by the Wizengamot...so we got free time, and Harry and Susan needed House robes for some matter...you see..."
All doubts regarding their skipping of classes went out of her head the moment she heard Arthur speak regarding the sudden announcement of the State of Emergency. "Yes, yes, the State of Emergency! Since the fall of You-Know-Who, no such emergency was declared. Merlin forbids, no similar incident has taken place! One wizarding war is enough for a lifetime!"
Harry thought, 'Arthur should get an Oscar for his acting skills...'
Arthur shrugged, "We will get to know after today's Emergency Wizengamot meeting. So...the bill?"
After exiting the store, Harry and Susan gave Arthur funny looks. Arthur deadpanned, "What?" Susan with an amused expression said, "Foreign students from the continent, huh?" Arthur smirked, "What do you think, just because I am the Head of one of the Houses of Ten master Clans, I don't attend a high school?" Susan couldn't find a proper answer. Arthur just chuckled, "First Lesson, while dealing with a stranger: Half-truths is far better than a complete lie. Let them think what they want to think. Besides I didn't lie, I simply just didn't elaborate it to her much. Let her guess whatever she wants... and then turned a bit serious, "So, it's time to go to the Ministry, you two ready?"
Harry and Susan exchanged glances with one another. Then looked at the auburn-haired Head of the Grand Family of Pendragon, and confidently nodded. Arthur was truly impressed seeing both of their confidence. He grabbed Harry's hand and Ariana grabbed Susan and all five of them disapparated from Diagon Alley directly into the Atrium of the Ministry of Magic.
Time: 1:25 p.m
This time apparition for Harry and Susan was slightly better than their first one.
The moment Harry and Susan set their eyes on the ministry Atrium, their jaws hit the floor. Even Arthur, Ariana, and Artemis were impressed and astound.
**They were standing at one end of a very long and splendid hall with a highly polished, dark wood floor. The peacock-blue ceiling was inlaid with gleaming golden symbols that were continually moving and changing like some enormous heavenly notice board. The walls on each side were paneled in shiny dark wood and had many gilded fireplaces set into them. Every few seconds a witch or wizard would emerge from one of the left-hand fireplaces with a soft whoosh; on the right-hand side, short queues of wizards were forming before each fireplace, waiting to depart. Halfway down the hall was a fountain. A group of golden statues, larger than life-size, stood in the middle of a circular pool. Tallest of them all was a noble-looking wizard with his wand pointing straight up in the air. Grouped around him were a beautiful witch, a centaur, a goblin, and a house-elf. The last three were all looking adoringly up at the witch and wizard. Glittering jets of water were flying from the ends of the two wands, the point of the centaur's arrow, the tip of the goblin's hat, and each of the house-elf's ears, so that the tinkling hiss of falling water was added to the pops and cracks of Apparators and the clatter of footsteps as hundreds of witches and wizards strode toward a set of golden gates at the far end of the hall.** [From HP- OotP]
"Truly impressive." Arthur breathed out. Others nodded with affirmation. "So let's go..." Arthur followed in the direction of the elevators, the other member of the group following him.
The Atrium was bustling with people more than usual. The reason was simple: Albus Dumbledore's declaration of State of Emergency and call for an emergency meeting, with the full strength Wizengamot: Lords and Ladies of all the Ancient and Noble Houses and the Head of all Ministry Departments, and other members of the Wizengamot. When the declaration was made in the noon, the first reaction of the people was confusion. Then widespread panic. This caused a massive uproar in all of the Departments. Massive hysteria was evident in all of the employees of the Ministry of Magic. The employees, the press, and the media wanted to know what was the sudden cause of a State of Emergency. All wanted to know, but they had to wait till the Wizengamot meeting.
Lord Arthur Pendragon, Ariana Pendragon, Artemis Olympia, Susan Bones, and Lord Harry Potter-Peverell made their way through the hustle and bustle of the ministry. They moved in the direction of the golden elevators. There they found a badly shaven wizard was sitting at a table, reading the Daily Prophet: Noon Edition. On top of the table was a sign, on which was written: Security.
The group passed right under the nose of the security personnel who didn't even care to look up from his newspaper.
After, passing a few distances away from the security personnel, Arthur sarcastically said, "Wow! What a security!" Others stifled their laughter to avoid any suspicion. Arthur continued his rant, "No wonder why British Ministry of Magic is a laughing stock across the World! Did not even care to look up from his paper! I could have been a terrorist or an assassin walking straight through the Ministry gates!"
All of them entered one of the golden elevators. Along with the many other Ministry officials were there, all discussing the sudden call for the State of Emergency. Harry and Susan were a bit apprehensive, thinking what they could reply if someone suddenly asked what they were doing in the Ministry. But once seeing their worried face and their frequent glances around themselves, Lord Pendragon understood their cause of anxiety, and said, "Don't worry, a Notice-me-Not Charm is acting on us." Both of them gave a deep sigh of relief.
Finally, they reached Level 2, where the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Auror Headquarters, and the Wizengamot Administration Services, Offices were present. On normal days, the place consisted mostly of Aurors, but that day the entire area was bustling with hordes of people. The various Departmental Heads, Heads of the Ancient and Noble Houses of Great Britain, other Wizengamot members, various press and media houses were there. Some of them were interviewing some of the Noble Lords and other politicians and some were gossiping. But everything was centered around the sudden State of Emergency.
Arthur, Ariana, Artemis, Harry, and Susan managed to find a secluded area where they stopped. Arthur rubbed his palms and said, "I guess here we shall part our ways, I guess?" Ariana and Artemis nodded. He continued, "So, Ariana, Artemis, go and find the rest of the members' group, most probably they are near the Wizengamot Chamber, and take a brief of what they have found till now. Then I will meet you all soon..." Artemis gave a small peck on Arthur's cheek while Ariana simply waved at them, before disappearing into the crowd.
Arthur smiled a bit before shaking his head. Harry and Susan glance at each other and smirked, thinking they could tease Lord Pendragon a bit, Harry said, "Didn't think that you and Artemis are a couple..." Susan also grinned mischievously. Arthur simply looked at them with a confused expression for a moment before saying, "You realized that now?" Harry and Susan were a bit surprised. Seeing their surprised looks Arthur said, "Students in our school say, that they can understand that the two of us are a couple and dating even looking at us a mile away, you two took so much time...?" There go both of their plans to tease him a bit into waste. Both of them managed to suppress their groans.
But Susan asked, "But how did you two become a couple?"
Arthur smirked, "Why, need some tips for yourselves?" Both of them blushed. "Anyways..." he continued, "...that is a long story...but it is one of the reasons why people believe that Artemis and I, are reincarnations of Artemis Olympia the First and Arthur Pendragon the First..." Both the Hogwarts students raised their eyebrows.
Arthur Pendragon the Seventh smiled, "We share a Soul Bond." Both of their eyes became as wide as saucers. They had hundreds of questions arising in their mind, but Arthur buried all of them with his next set of words, "Let's see, so this is the wing of Department of Magical Law Enforcement...let's find the Director's Office..." Unknowingly, they had marched into the area of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the Auror Office.
Susan felt as if she slammed into a wall. She stammered, "Au-auntie's Office? Why?!" Arthur had a mischievous glint in his face, "Why? Just wonder how Madam Bones will react when she suddenly finds her beloved niece along with her trouble-magnet male-friend, Harry Potter, well now Peverell as well, out of all people, along with extremely high-profile magical world officials, members of Ten Master Clans, 18 Assistant House and 100 Families, in Courtroom 10, huh?"
Susan was extremely panic-stricken. Harry was also not in a better condition. Both wondered how would Madam Bones react. Both simply shuddered at the thought.
Amelia Bones, the Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement for the last six years, was a woman of honor and integrity. She was a fierce woman who did her work with honesty. When she was an Auror, during the Wizarding War, she was a force to be reckoned with. A large part of the Death Eaters was in Azkaban because of her tireless work in the sector of intel gathering. Apart from the honest Director of Magical Enforcement, she was the only person who raised Susan since the death of her parents. Amelina Bones had never married. She spent most of her free time raising Susan into a fine woman, ideal future Lady Bones, Head of the Ancient and Noble House of Bones.
Arthur with a soft tone said, "No need to worry, she will understand what forced you two to take certain steps, don't worry." Both did not look assured for one second.
Harry internally thought, 'When Madam Bones will get to know what I got her only niece into, she will skin me alive, I HATE my life!' while on the other hand, Susan thought, 'Auntie?! We are going to meet her! How will she react? I am not worried about what will happen to me, I am worried about Harry. She will definitely...'
Arthur groaned in frustration, "Oh, come on! What's the worse thing that can happen? It's not like Harry got Susan pregnant or something..." Both of them suddenly jerked their heads from their brooding and suddenly turned scarlet at the sudden instigation. Both gave scandalized shrieks "Ehh?!"
Arthur chuckled, "Come on, it's time to face the music!" With that, all three of them strolled in the direction of the door, where it was mentioned 'Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement ' Thinking that they won't require the Notice-me-Not Charm, Arthur dropped it.
The Auror Office was practically empty. No one could be seen there, as the sudden proclamation of emergency made the on-duty Aurors leave the comfort of their office to join the other fellow Aurors in the field.
When they were a few metres away from the Director's Office, two Aurors emerged from it. One was a largely built, dark-skinned man, and the other was pink-haired with a funky look woman. Kingsley Shacklebolt and Nymphadora ("Don't call me that!") Tonks. Both did not expect three high school students in the ministry, much less the Auror Office. Both were momentarily stunned. Before any of the two could say anything, Susan voiced her astonishment, "Kingsley? Tonks? What are you two doing here?"
Both, recovering their senses, together, said, "Susan?" Susan Bones nodded. Tonks grinned, "Wotcher Susan! Long time no see!" Susan returned the grin. Kingsley looked at the other two of his Boss's niece's companions, one an auburn-haired boy with amber-blue eyes and the other the infamous, British Wizarding personality, the Boy-Who-Lived, the Harry Potter. What a weird friend circle, he thought.
He asked raising his eyebrows, "What are you three doing here in the Ministry today?" Harry and Susan looked a bit tense, which did not go unnoticed by the two of the Aurors. But Arthur smoothly stepped in the conversation. "You see, we three have some important work in the Ministry, and Susan wanted to meet her aunt, so we came here. I hope we are not creating any disturbance with that..."
Kingsley just sighed, "All kinds of disturbances have already been created once the sudden call of emergency came up...nothing the three of you can create...but I doubt the Director can meet you all...once the State of Emergency was declared, she..."
Tonks then said, "Never seen the boss so worked up ever, since I joined the Office...the day was already too hectic for her, then came up this sudden news, and now after arranging all things, she will also have to attend the Wizengamot meeting...I kinda feel sorry for her...by the way who are you..." she said pointing at Arthur.
Arthur said, "I am Arthur, and we would like to meet Madam Bones. It's urgent." Both raised their eyes. Kingsley said, "Only 'Arthur'?" Lord Pendragon nodded.
Kingsley looked at him suspiciously. He had never seen the auburn-haired boy ever, but his looks and bodily features speak of his Noble upbringing, like the heirs of some Noble Houses of the Wizarding Britain. But he could not recognize which House.
He asked, "Urgent matter?" Arthur replied, "Yes"
"What urgent matter?"
"Confidential"
Both stared at each other with calculating eyes. The dark-skinned Auror shook his head and said, "Director is busy. She can't meet any of you." Arthur's gaze hardened. With a bit of steeliness mixed in his voice, he said, "Is that so? And what will happen, if I insist on meeting her?" Kingsley narrowed his eyes and said while gripping his wand, "Then I have to insist once again, that the Director is busy and can't meet any of you, even if you are her niece's friend or not..."
Tonks sensing the tension in the air, tried to dissuade the matter. She looked at her senior and said, "Kingsley, they are kids, no need to be aggressive..."
Arthur never leaving the dark Auror's gaze, raised his right hand, making a fist, showing him the Head of the Family ring of the Pendragons and asking in a cold voice, "I that so? What is if the person is much much higher in the pay grade, then...huh?"
Kingsley Shacklebolt narrowed his eyes and looked at the ring, which showed the sigil of Dragon with unfurled wings about to take a flight. Below it was written the motto of the Family, Nosce teipsum.
Kingsley's breathing stopped for a moment. His heartbeat skipped a few beats, his eyes widened astronomically, his throat felt dry, and a healthy amount of fear crept into his head.
House of Shacklebolt was an old pureblood House and a part of Sacred Twenty Eight. Just like every other member of the member of a Sacred 28, he very well knew the only House in the world to have the motto: Nosce teipsum or Know thyself. Stories and myths regarding that Family were too well known to him. And what they did to a country almost 35 years ago, with another House of the same group was well known to him. So fearing the embodiment of that very house, standing in front of him, was particularly a wise decision.
Arthur smirked, "Is this enough to meet the Director, or should you need something more convincing?" Kingsley flinched. Tonks knew Kingsley Shacklebolt for a long time. Never had she seen him as scared as shit. She also looked at the ring, but couldn't identify the House to which the sigil belonged.
The dark-skinned Auror stammered, "Y-you a-are-"
"Yes," Arthur replied sharply, which made the Auror flinch once again. Arthur narrowed his eyes and said, "Don't have any work?" He nodded rapidly, "Then get going you two!" Shacklebolt quickly grabbed Tonk's hand and dragged her away from them, "Come, Nymphadora, hurry!" Tonks said, "Wait Kingsley-ouch...ahh..Don't call me that!..."
When the two were about to leave the Office, Arthur called after them, "Wait you two." Immediately the two stopped. He slowly said, "I guess, I don't have to tell either of you not to mention this to anybody about whom you met just now..."
Tonks feeling a bit angry, shouted, "Who are-" but Kingsley covered her mouth with his hand and replied, "Yes Sir!" Arthur nodded, "Good, get going then..." Quickly the two Aurors left, one dragging the other along with him.
Arthur turned to Harry and Susan only to find their mouths hanging with sheer awe what conspired there. He smiled widely at them, "Lesson no. 2: Try diplomatic approach first then, show your status, when dealing with a stranger or government official..." Both of them nodded.
Then he looked at the door handle and then at Susan, "After you. I don't think she would like to meet the persons who are about to change her niece's life completely at first..."
Susan gulped and proceed to open the door.
November 8, 1994
Friday
Time: 1:40 p.m
November 8, 1994 (Friday) was already a tiresome day for Madam Amelia Susan Bones, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Hundreds of piles of paperwork were already on her plate when suddenly, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, Albus (too-many-names) Dumbledore declared the State of Emergency through Great Britain and called for an emergency meeting of the entire Wizengamot. Reason: he refused to say anything, before the meeting.
"Oh dear why did I even take up this job?" she sighed
She had to mobilize the entire Auror force the moment she heard the news of the emergency. The Aurors were ordered to patrol the important Wizarding establishments: The Hogsmead, the Diagon Alley, Knocturn Alley, Ottery St. Catchpole, and quite a few others. She also had to prepare for the upcoming Wizengamot meeting. She had no idea why after thirteen long years suddenly the State of Emergency was being declared. She only hoped that nothing similar to the previous war took place. If something similar took place then she prayed to any higher being that could listen to keep her only family, her beloved niece safe.
"Sue..." she murmured to herself closing her eyes when she heard her chamber's door being opened. Her back was facing the door, so she didn't see who had entered.
Anger crept into Amelia Bones' head. Her subordinates, Senior Auror Shacklebolt and Junior Auror Tonks had been pestering her for quite some while, so she forcibly sent both of them out of her room. She raised filled with annoyance, "Shacklebolt, Tonks if you two keep on pestering me, I swear-"
"Auntie?" she snapped open her only to find her only family and beloved niece, Susan Bones tackling her in a fierce hug. "What? Sue? What are you doing in here?" She also returned her hug. Susan with a crack in his voice said, "I missed you a lot, Auntie!"
"Susan what are-" Then her eyes turned to face the other occupants of her Office. Seeing the identical replica of James Potter from her school days, stunned her, but seeing the lightning bolt scar, across his forehead, she managed to identify who was standing in front of him: Harry Potter, the Boy-WHo-Lived.
"Harry Potter?" She asked. The person in question nodded affirmatively.
"What are you all doing here and why even you all are here first of all?" She asked.
"I can tell," said the voice of the third occupant in the room. Amelia looked at the speaker, a boy with auburn coloured and mesmerizing amber-blue eyes. As far as her memory could serve, she could not remember ever seeing a person like him. He had a strange aura around him, filled with strength, power and confidence. He looked like a Prince from Fairytales.
Amelia raised her eyebrows, "And who are you?" The boy gave him a cheeky grin, and said, "Arthur"
"Only 'Arthur'?" She asked. "For the time being," he replied with the same amount of cheekiness. "So why you all are here?" she asked, ignoring his cocky attitude.
The auburn-haired boy replied, "To attend the upcoming Wizengamot meeting Madam." Amelia Bones did a double-take. She asked, raising her voice a bit, "Attend the Wizengamot meeting, why? Why do three high school students need to attend it?"
The boy laughed, "Since we are partially responsible for stirring up the entire British Wizarding population for quite a bit, so we thought, it should our responsibility to attend it, and if possible spice the life of British wizards a bit more as well..."
Amelia was stunned. She could not understand whether to laugh at the boy's claims or reprimand him for joking in serious matters. "What?" She could only ask.
"What don't you believe me, then ask your niece, she can verify..." Amelia looked at Susan, who was smiling shyly, "Well...we may do have a role in it..."
"What?!" Amelia shouted. She knew Susan very well that she did not joke in important matters such as this, but...
"What are you talking about Sue? What have you done?" She asked shaking her niece by holding her shoulder. At that time, the auburn-haired boy, named Arthur, decided to interrupt. He said softly, "Don't blame her for this. Neither she nor Harry is at fault in this. Rather, they are the victims in this entire ordeal. If anyone is to be blamed they should those imbecile Hogwarts teachers and staff, who let those hormonal students way too much free reign, resulting in this..."
"What? What has happened?" she asked, with a horror-filled expression. She could not imagine what would have had happened to her if any harm might have happened to Susan.
The boy continued, "But this turned out to be quite a blessing for us as well as to your niece and Harry..." he pointed at both of them, "Harry got a Family, extended one, nevertheless, a Family in the end along with the immense amount of political power as well as protection from various other enemies...and we also got a long lost Family member, which has finally made our Family complete in so many years..."
"Along with that..." Arthur continued, "...we managed to derive various intel, about the British Wizarding world, how is it functioning, how our subjects are being treated...to say the least...we were not at all happy...and we were looking for a way to definite reason to come to Britain to show the higher-ups just who they were dealing with..."
Amelia Bones narrowed her eyes and said, "Who are you?"
Arthur just smiled and continued, "..so one day when I was strolling in my city...I found an interesting newspaper, the infamous British rag, the Daily Prophet...where there was an interesting article stating, 'Harry Potter: Savior of the World or the Next Dark Lord?' by some journalist called Rita Skeeter, which heavily garnered our attention in the happenings in the British Isles. After help from another House, like ours, we came to Britain directly...from Avalon..."
Hearing the name Avalon, widened the eyes of Amelia Susan Bones astronomically. Then suddenly, some of the keywords in the auburn-haired boy's long speech started connecting...Family...subjects...complete... the immense amount of political...
All started connecting one by one, but Amelia felt as if something was missing that making her unable to reach the final identity of the person standing along with her nice and Harry Potter...
She asked with a slight tremble in her voice once again, "Who are you?"
The auburn-haired boy grinned, before tapping the upper left corner of his torse. on his vermillion coloured coat, appeared the sigil: a Dragon with unfurled wings about to take a flight, along with the motto of the House: Nosce Teipsum.
Amelia Bones' eyes looked as if they would pop out. She looked once at the Pendragon House Crest and then at that grinning face of Arthur Pendragon the Seveth.
She had no idea how did she manage to stammer out her question, "Y-you a-a-are...?"
The auburn-haired boy with a regal tone spoke, "I am, Lord Arthur Pendragon the Seventh, Head of the Royal and Arcane House of Pendragon of the Ten Master Clans and the Head of the Grand Family of Pendragon and the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Avalon."
All the other occupants could only laugh at the frequent opening and closing of Amelia Bones' mouth.
Lord Arthur Pendragon said, a bit seriousness returning back to his voice, "We have much to discuss Madam Bones, regarding the upcoming difficult future of Great Britain..."
