It took a few hours but after Kitty and the others found me, we made it to the medical camp where we all could rest and heal. I was feeling drained from my fight, chakra fatigue, and blood loss were catching up to me by the time I reached the designated healing tent led by Sakura. How I wished I could heal myself, but I had to rely on Sakura, who hates me, to heal my arm. When she first saw me all I could feel was hate radiating off her.
"I think I'm fine Kitty," I whispered to him as he supported my weight, "Sakura won't heal me."
"What do you want traitor?" She hissed with such hate making me wish I had died of blood loss. She looked from me to Kitty then finally at my arm which dangled helplessly at my side with blood still dripping down it. "You could've healed yourself." Her eyes shifted back to me down to my arm again examining my wound.
"Needed to conserve my chakra. Don't think you can tell but my chakra is pretty low." My comment made a vein appear on Sakura's forehead making me smirk; she already hated me so why not add fire to the flame?
"Why are you even here? Aren't you siding with the enemy?" She spat as she stepped forward to examine my arm closely.
"It's called spying Sakura. Lady Hokage and Kakashi-sensei were in on it."
Sakura's eyes widened at my words most likely remembering something. "I see, so it was you who sent that letter to sensei...What happened to Sasuke?"
"Haven't seen him since he left for the Summit. That was probably the letter you saw. I couldn't bring him back even if I wanted to. He has fallen too low for me to influence him. I think that's Naruto's job." She motioned us to take a seat then started to heal my arm.
"How did you even fight for us with that bounty on your head?"
"I guess Tsunade vouched for me. She understood that I had no choice but to follow my Father. Once he was gone, I found my own path."
She only snorted in response as she finished healing my arm. I held it out flexing it moving every aspect not feeling any discomfort. I grinned and looked over at Kitty who returned one which made my heart flutter. I couldn't help but smile even wider at his, I tried to suppress it but my muscles betrayed me.
"Let's get some rest," he suggested as he helped me to my feet.
"Okay mom," I replied rolling my eyes. I could feel eyes on us, so I looked over seeing Sakura staring at us wide eyed. "What?" I questioned with an annoyed tone.
"N-nothing," she stuttered looking away quickly.
Kitty and I exited the tent heading towards the area our group resided in. "So is now the right time to talk?" Kitty questioned making my heartbeat quicken. I've never had a talk like this unsure what's going to happen.
"S-sure," I replied as we both sat down in a tent.
I could see he was also nervous from him fumbling with his hands and looking at the ground. "S-so uh ah well..." he started with a blush dusting his cheeks making me smirk. He took in a breath before speaking again. "Ko, I really like you." He blurted out making my heart squeeze then flutter. "Ever since I trained you, I couldn't shake these feelings. I-I couldn't even turn you in when you left the Leaf or all those other times I ran into you. I just couldn't...I've always thought about you and I know you care for me too."
I was at a loss of words despite already knowing he was going to confess. I thought it would take longer but he ripped off the band aid getting straight to the point. I flinched when he reached for my hand jerking it away but then placed mine on top of his.
"I like you too Kit-Kankuro." I corrected figuring using his actual name would be appropriate. "I felt a connection between us from the start, but I didn't think anything of it. When I heard you were hurt, I had to see you. I risked everything that night just to make sure you were alright. After that, I knew you were special to me."
He flipped his hand so his palm faced mine and laced our fingers. "I want us to go on a date when this is over." His comment made me scoff.
"Where would we have a date? Prison? Or evading bounty hunters?"
"Don't worry Kitten," he said making my face red as a tomato. "I bet after this war; they'll see you're a good person. Especially after you help us with your abilities. They'll see the good in you, I saw it from the beginning."
"Ah stop saying sweet things!" I turned away trying to hide the blush that's been permanently on my face. "I'm not use to it."
"Better start then Kitten, I got a bunch of nice things to say." He reached out grabbing my chin making me face him. We made eye contact and all I could see was something I've never seen before, love.
Before I knew it, he pulled me closer pressing his lips against mine. His lips felt so soft against mine making my heart explode. I leaned forward deepening the kiss feeling him slightly smile. As soon as the kiss started, it ended. As soon as he pulled away, he gave me a smile.
"I've wanted to do that for a while," he commented but I didn't reply. I activated my eyes when I got a bad feeling which quickly killed the mood. "What is it?" Kitty questioned; I didn't answer. I was focused looking at every inch of the area until something caught my attention. "Something's wrong, I see two of the same person. One is in the medical tent and another is..." I gasped at the sight,"klling a medic." I stood up headingr the exit until Kitty grabbed my wrist.
"Don't go out there, your chakra is still low." He warned but I had to do something.
"Then started alerting everyone!" I shouted startling him. "They're after the medics!" We sprinted throughout the camp alerting every one of the infiltration until we met up with most of the Jonin who were surrounding several corpses. "I need a few shinobi to follow me." I stated catching their attention. "I can see who the impostor is. He's disguised as a man with bandages on the top of his head and his arm is in a sling, the real one is resting in a medic tent. I'm not sure if there are any more though so everyone must be careful."
Only a few nodded but the rest shrugged it off not wanting to listen to me. As I searched for the man I suddenly stopped.
"It's Neji," I said but everyone gave me a confused look. "There's another impostor and they're disguised as Neji."
"How is that possible?" Kitty questioned which made me think for a moment until I saw the first imposter approaching Sakura's tent.
"Never mind that," I said then pointed at three shinobi. "You three go to tent 10, see if the two survived. The rest follow me and protect Sakura, she's in danger."
They all nodded actually following my orders no questions asked. I knew I wouldn't be much help to fight these imposters, but I had to pinpoint exactly who they were. I'm not sure how I'd be able to identify the imposter if they were next to the real shinobi but I hoped it wouldn't have to come to that. I was faster than the others so I reached the tent before them.
"What are you doing here Ko?" Sakura questioned as soon as I entered the tent. I made sure to deactivate my eyes and have a calm demeanor to avoid suspicion.
"Just wanted to check in, I'm a bit bored and thought I'd pay you another visit." I said calmly then looked over at Neji. From the tension in the air coming from Sakura, it seems like she already figured it out. "Oh hi Neji," I looked back over at Sakura making eye contact then she nodded.
"Ko, I thought you were resting." He said reaching behind his back; obvious move.
"I'm very persistent; chakra exhaustion can't hold me down."
"Sakura, can you look at my arm again. It hurts a little." 'Neji' questioned.
"Sure, take a seat right there."
"I guess I'll take my leave then, you seem busy." I said turning my back to them but activated my eyes seeing my mini squad is waiting just outside the tent.
Once I was almost out, I saw he was about to attack. I swiftly moved between him and Sakura deflecting his kunai with my own signaling the rest of the group to enter as well. Sakura sprang into action using her strength to plunge him into the ground kneeling on him.
"H-how did you know?" He questioned but I couldn't stop looking at him. His life force numbers are reading infinite.
"So it is Zetsu," I confirmed.
"Pigs don't have hands!" Sakura answered making me raise a brow.
"Tonton...is a pig?!" He questioned slowly morphing back into his original form; white Zetsu.
"Plus it wasn't hard to see two people at once Zetsu. I thought you guys would've thought of everything. The real Neji is still on the field on look out." I said making him send me a glare.
"Tsk, Madara should've killed you when he had a chance you traitor!" He shouted in anger.
"Ha I'm no traitor, I was never loyal to the Akatsuki. I must've been a better spy than you for them not to notice. I would never side with the Akatsuki. My Father taught me better than that." I laughed.
Sakura threw another fist down making him cry out in pain. "Tell me...how were you able to recreate Neji's chakra?!"
"My transformation jutsu is the best. I may not be the only one who has infiltrated this place."
Just as those words left his mouth, one of the shinobi from my squad jumped towards me attempting to kill me but Kitty stepped in kicking her away.
"I didn't need saving, I could've handled it." I said but only received a smirk.
"Nope, let me have the glory."
"Hm I do wonder what would happen if I absorbed his life force as well." I questioned clutching my chin with my index and thumb.
"You still don't have a lot of chakra." Kitty scolded but I only shrugged.
"I still have enough for one jutsu." I said as I formed seals. "Ninja art, binding snake." Snakes emerged from my sleeve wrapping around the Zetsu clone along with the other that Sakura was interrogating.
"You are able to manipulate the chakra that you absorb. You can transform your chakra into your victim! Isn't that right? Ko, you handle them, I have to report this to HQ immediately."
"Sakura, make sure you let everyone know what's happening. There's another attack happening near the river. It seems he absorbed many people's chakra." I warned. "It seems I might be a prime target as well. I'm the only one who can identify the imposters." She only nodded in response. "Find someone who can seal these guys or detain them properly. My snakes can only hold out for so long." I said to the others who nodded as well before disappearing.
"This war has become so troublesome."
