Chapter 5
As everybody elses' gaze darted away in terror Parrot noticed Rhino's eyes filled up with something... possibly curiosity? Why would he be curious of a monster!?
"What interesting anatomy! Judging from your wings or leg structure it's similar to that of a SilkWings'! What do you call your tribe if you don't mind?" Rhino asked, Parrot, forced his gaze upon the monster and Rhino. The spider-like dragon expression softened before going into a defensive look again.
"I'm a WebWing! What are you supposed to be!?" she questioned with a snarl.
"I'll tell you later when we have time, a bit in a rush here. Have you seen a dragon like these three being dragged down here?"
"By Taralicus!" she said in a mutter looking into the wall. "I saw her being dragged down but you don't want to go all the way down. That's where most of the Chiropias and Anglerores are. For someone who asks questions you do avoid them."
"Could you lead us down there!?" Parrot asked, she hissed in response. Parrot backed up a bit scared that she might do something terrible.
"Who let this dragonet talk!?"
"Well you're also a dragonet too and by the horns, you're the same age as he is," Rhino said defending him, she made a squeak covering her horns.
"Well, I view myself as more mature than he is!" Rhino face became neutral before he flew in closer and said something he couldn't hear with the WebWing eyes widening.
"What are they talking about?" Droplet asked flying closer. Parrot heart felt like it missed a beat.
"I... Uh... Don't... Know exactly what they're talking about." She examined him a bit, looking over the extreme colors he was generating from his scales.
"Are you okay?"
"What do you mean by that?" He began warming up getting hotter and hotter.
"It just seems like your scales are out of control." Lime flew in joining the conversation with his scales turning pale green he assumed from the two light sources below them.
"He's fine, this only happens when dragonets have mixed feelings as well as crushes." He said looking between the two before darting his eyes towards the two strange dragons with fear. What's a crush!? Is it what I'm feeling inside!? By the moons, I don't like this feeling!
"Sooo, you're having mixed feelings?" Droplet asked.
"Yeah... I definitely have that!" He looked down to see Rhino still talking to the WebWing, Rhino looked up making a smile in the light below them. Rhino flew up towards them illuminating the rest of the area around them.
"Good news! She'll lead us to your instructor Parrot." Rhino said looking at everybody, the other RainWing faces lit up as well as Parrot.
"That's great! Don't want to have another death today," Lime said looking at the two dragonets with a goofy smile.
"Well, there is some bad news!" Rhino said pressing his lips together. "Yeah, our guide here is in exile, of course, living off of the mushrooms and those creatures you've seen."
"Oh... that's even worse news!" Lime said with his smile turning straight into a frown.
"Anyways, lead on... What was your name exactly?"
"Orbweaver," she said annoyed. That was when the walls of the hole began rumbling, it shook everything in there with dirt falling down in the deep dark. Orbweaver stabbed her legs deeper into the surface she was on to make sure she didn't fall off. After a while, it stopped before they began their way down. "Stupid Earthquakes! I swear one day it'll kill me!" They followed her down deeper until they saw a strange platform protruding from one of the sides of the wall. "Blow that thing out! The glowshrooms should be bright enough for us." Rhino blew the light out with Orbweaver putting the silver ball of light away into her bag he just noticed when they landed. She motioned for them to flow in the cave, they followed her right into it. Parrot noticed Orbweaver's scales glowing a faint color of silver. It looked kind of beautiful on her.
"Hey, Droplet!" He whispered nudging her shoulder.
"Yeah?" she whispered back.
"Her scales are glowing,"
"What?"
"I said her scales are glowing, look!" She looked closer before looking into his eyes. He felt even hotter now than ever before.
"Woah, they look amazing how do you think?"
"They look pretty too be honest," Orbweaver's legs began faltering before they gave out making it so she had to walk on her all fours. The cave began glowing with light. That was when they entered it, the cave with glowshrooms. The cave had patches of multicolor shrooms growing throughout the cave with the bugs he had seen from the night before flying between them. Something moved in one of the patches before a tongue flew out snatching a bunch of the bugs out of the air. This looks amazing! It's so cool!" He turned his head to look around the cave to see each color of glowshroom.
"This cool!" Rhino said looking around with him. "I've only seen mushrooms like this once!"
"I doubt they're similar to the glowshrooms though," Orbweaver said with what Parrot could possibly think was herself making superior. She got back up on her multiple legs and began walking again. Her stance was regal just like Queen Grandeur but more complex than her stance. "Anyways we're gonna come up to two caves, one of them has the most monstrous beasts out there while the other one has a shorter route with lights on. Take the shorter one, it's way easier. Tried going into the longer route once, it was... an experience." They began walking into one of the caves when suddenly another Earthquake struck. The ceiling started crumbling and falling as the cavern shook.
"MOVE!" Rhino cried out. Droplet and Lime managed to get into the cave before the entrance was collapsed. Orbweaver instructed them to go to the other cave.
"We've got to go into there! There's no other way!" she was about to lead when the ceiling above her gave out crushing three of her left side legs with the cracks sounding like twigs snapping. "AHHHHHH!" The debris crushed multiple glowshroom patches and was about to collapse on the other entrance. Rhino came to her side lifting the debris off and carrying her by her side. They all went into the entrance with the last of the debris closing onto the entrance as well.
"Are you alright Orbweaver?" Rhino looked over her injuries.
"Yeah, just one of the many injuries our tribe has!" she said trying to walk it off. Parrot noticed that the three legs that were on her left side were out of place.
"Her legs on the left side are broken Rhino," Parrot said looking over her. The black dragon looked over to him with a puzzled look before darting his eyes to her left legs.
"How did you... Never mind," He turned to Orbweaver pulling out the roots he had with him. "Hold still, I'm going to try and place a splint on the legs." She growled taking a step forward before wincing in pain.
"Fine, do it quickly though." The black dragon went to work using the roots and asked for anything he could tie together. "Here, this might help with it." Silver light began pouring out of her tail with her cutting it off for each of her three legs. When they were done she tried to move it a bit before Rhino warned her about using the leg.
"Careful, your legs will need to recover from an injury so serious. You're gonna need to use those four talons of yours to move around." She shook her head and began walking with them. Her walking speed with her talons seems slower without the spider-like legs. Parrot walked up to her, she made an annoyed face when he saw her.
"What!?"
"I'm just wondering what might be up ahead. Any ideas?" Parrot asked. She rolled her eyes before responding.
"Only been a quarter of the wat through, but there are the scariest things in this cave. Get ready for it."
