Chapter 6
They continued through the darkness with Rhino taking the lead to ensure nothing could get them. He held out both the fire and the silver light out to illuminate their path.
"Soooo... This friend of yours... How long have you known him for?" Orbweaver asked surveying the walls around them.
"Today actually! He just decided to help me," Parrot answered.
"Really?"
"Yes really,"
"Hmm, weird... What was your name? I didn't get it when we traveled through the caves."
"Parrot,"
"What's that?"
"A colorful bird in the rainforest,"
"What's a bird?"
"Flying animals on the surface, they fly through the trees and I believe can mimic noises around them? Not really sure about that."
"Oh! So like Mats."
"What are Mats?"
"Moth like bats in our cave systems, we occasionally get actual bats down here eating the smaller moths but the Mats kill them."
"Really? How do the bats get down here then?"
"Don't know, I just know that they come here sometimes." They continued down into the dark, scanning the area for any large monsters that might get them while they were walking. That was when there was a strange crawling noise echoing off the walls with small growls.
That was when she stopped. "Orbweaver!"
"Yes," she said, shaking her head. "Sorry about that, just thinking about what he said."
"What did Rhino say to you?"
Her expression softened with regret and sorrow. "Some... stuff, saying that 'If you don't help us, the blood of a dragon will be on my talons'."
"Is that why you decided to help us?" Orbweaver began moving again back to his side.
"Yeah, I can't stomach the fact that... I was willing to have a dragon die. When I saw that rainbow dragon being dragged down... I hid like I always did. I could've so much more."
"What are they going to do to her?" She looked down, tears flowing out now.
"Either eat her or feed her to Recluciucus." Eat her!
"What do you mean by-"
"WebWings are cannibals, they eat their dead, and eat any species that won't kill them from poisons or venom." His gut churned, he felt like he was going to vomit. He was standing right next to one of them, at any moment she could turn and eat them all. No, I've got to stay calm, I got to hope she doesn't do any of that. "I know what you're thinking right now."
"You can read minds!?" he jumped back.
"No... It's from your expression as well as my reaction when I was told this."
"You had the same reaction as I did!?"
"Yeah... A SalamanWing told me this and I got scared of my own tribe."
"What happened to them?"
"They were killed and eaten right before my very eyes. My mother told me that it was natural and that I should partake in dining on his guts. I stayed in my room all night because of it. You probably don't know what I'm talking about right now."
"Yes, I do! It's a dragon from your tribe!" She let out a sound of annoyance, wiping away the tears.
She mumbled, "Of course the three-year-old wouldn't know!" She took a breath before speaking to him again. "Another dragon tribe below the WebWings."
"Oh,"
"Anyways, we should be almost halfway there now, surprised that there's nothing. I should say this is-" Rhino ran over covering her mouth with her pushing his talons off. "Why did you do that!" More crawling started echoing behind and infront of them.
"Never ever say that!" Rhino said.
"Say what!"
"Those words you're going to say! Bad things happen if you say it, learned it first hand... wait I meant talon! Hate that always." A distant cry echoed through the cave.
"They're going to make it!" It was of course the voice of Lime. What's going to happen! Rhino turned towards them with fear in his eyes.
"Run!" The wall around them began making noises with loud growls from behind. They listened and began running towards the exit. Small white creatures started entering the field of light that they could see. They were almost his and Orbweaver size with them being almost like monkeys but were pale white. They encircled them growling and crawling around, Orbweaver took action stabbing one with one of her spider legs.
"Stupid Creelers!" Orbweaver roared. More of them began crawling up the leg she had impaled the monster with. "NO!" She began trying to wiggle them off but they were sticking on. Parrot joined her in getting them off. Some jumped to him and began biting him which didn't hurt that much, more like a small scratch then anything else.
"What do we do against these things!?" Rhino asked, he made a face in the light trying to scare them off. The monsters roared in response, getting closer. Parrot began trying to shake them off now as the bites started to actually hurt.
"Kill them of course!"
"That doesn't involve killing them!?" Rhino waved the fire in front of the beasts in which they recoiled and hissed in response. The face that Parrot saw made the black dragon look crazy. "I've got a better idea!" He pulled Orbweaver forward waving the fire around which made the monsters jump off and run. Rhino did the same to Parrot before letting them off, running as fast as they could. Parrot began to catch up with Orbweaver when something forced him into the ground, making him hit his jaw against the stone. It roared with delight before Parrot felt a burning pain erupting from his chest and neck. Parrot screamed out in pain before crying from how much it hurts. Suddenly a thud knocked something off him before being grabbed and dragged towards the light. They made it into the light with them breathing hard, Orbweaver from what Parrot could tell was about to ask him something when he noticed her eyes wide. Following her, he saw full parts of his body torn off with a green liquid dripping off of it.
"BY THE MOONS, PARROT!" Both RainWings ran over looking him over but Parrot was still. He didn't know why but he couldn't think about anything clearly, just only about the wounds. He could see the inside of himself and he didn't feel well. A muffled cry rang out but Parrot didn't notice, he just stared at the ground as a sound erupted behind him. A dark figure ran over looking him over saying something, his eyesight began to feel blurry, unable to see the full figures in front of him. All of a sudden other dark blurry figures started appearing from the ceiling of the cave before dropping down. They said something that he couldn't understand before wrapping the two figures in white, dragging them away. The blurs then became blobs as two went around him. A soft feeling started covering him up. It feels nice, he thought to himself finally as it covered his eyes. The last thing he heard was somebody crying out something. It was a while before he woke up again.
