Chapter 9

The two dragonets followed the black dragon through the dark cavern that they had entered.

"Why do we need to talk to the Gods again?" Parrot asked as they made their way. He turned his head to look at him.

"Ah, good question, you need multiple paracausal beings to close the Wall. That thing… The Wall is more powerful than a god for some reason."

"Impossible!" Orb whispered, her claws were clacking the ground much more than the other two dragons in that exact room. "Our gods created this world and its inhabitants." Rhino had a serious face on looking at her.

"This Wall is even older than anything else! I've traveled enough to know that we aren't old as this thing itself. It outdated everything." The shock on Orb's face made Parrot think about what the RainWings did. Do we do religion? No, we probably don't at all. Parrot hadn't remembered anyone saying anything that provoked a similar idea. They heard sounds in the distance as they got closer, Orbweaver slowing them down to a slow pace. A bright light illuminating from one of the rooms, shadows against the stone.

"We're at the dining hall, your friends should be here." Parrot poked his head around the corner to see a bunch of WebWings sitting around a table eating. One of them looked very much like Orbweaver. "Mother… Why does she have to do this?" Bones of a dragon laid across the table, By the moons did she-

"Parrot that isn't her, RainWing anatomy doesn't look like that."

"Yeah, that's a SalamanWing, they must be… There." Orb pointed to a bunch of cacoons across the wall. "They must be there."

"How do we even free them?" Parrot asked. Rhino got a strange look upon his face which didn't really make him feel reassured.

"I'll distract them as you two free them." The two nodded as Rhino explained what to do and where to go. He would go in front while when they were distracted they would cut open the cocoons to free Toco, Lime, and Droplet. The two dragonets stood near the entrance as the table of WebWings were talking about something.

"You sure the wall would-"

"I'm sure."

"Yeah but I've been finding weird stuff all around."

"Trust me, this is worth everything, we'll have more."

"Hello!" Rhino called out to the whole table. Now! Parrot camouflaged to hide the both of them as they entered the room.

"PREY! How did he escape!?" One of the voices sounded like Orbweaver's voice.

"Oh, I've been learning from a lot of escapists, it also wasn't very tough." Parrot wrapped his talons around Orbweaver flying up to cut them free. The weight of her placed a massive burden to try and keep them both up. Orbweaver began cutting into one as the conversation waged on.

"Get your god to rethink what they're doing!"

"Why should we?"

"If you don't then the entire world will burn, not only this planet but everything in this world."

"Liar! I'll show you who you're messing with!" The first cocoon opened to reveal Droplet, her eyes jutted open as she was about to gasp. Orbweaver covered her snout immediately.

"Don't!" Droplet nodded, she explained to Droplet that she needs her help to open the other cocoons, Droplet obliged. They began opening up more cocoons when Parrot peaked over. Rhino was on the ground knocked out as well as some guards and the Queen looking exhausted. That was when Orb's mother looked over to them.

"The prey is escaping!" Rhino lifted his head muttering some words that he could understand. Run. He lowered Orbweaver to the ground with the other RainWings.

"Orbweaver run!"

"Sure I agree with that!" She began running with the others as Parrot stood still, he didn't know why but everything had blacked out for him. He didn't know why but his head started to slip into a strange dark state.

"Parrot!" Parrot blinked his eyes at the sound of his name, looking around as everything was thrown all over, the WebWings was unconscious and laying on the floor, the table was overturned, the bones of the dragon were scattered everywhere, and Rhino was there holding him close. "Are you alright?"

"What happened?" Parrot's mind was still dizzy and woozy.

"You don't know?" He furrowed his brows, concern in his eyes.

"I don't know I-"

"I'll kill you both!" The Queen screeched as she lifted herself up, a cut was evident across her face, rage in her eyes.

"RUN!" The two began running along the corridors of the caverns as the Queen gave chase. They turned quickly around a corner to only face her.

"Do you really think you can run from me!? I know these tunnels like the back of my talons."

"Just please, listen to us, the-" The Queen sprayed webbing from her tail over his mouth.

"I've heard this already! I want my tribe to prosper and be free, not to be persecuted by your flight capable kind." Her mouth extended horizontally as she came closer, drool coming from her mouth. "I'll kill you and eat you! I've never had surface meat before!"

"Mother!" The clacking of talons on stone echoed through the halls.

"What Orbweaver!?" Orbweaver walked by their side, the three other RainWings coming up beside them.

"I challenge you, here and now for Queen! Once I'm Queen I won't let you eat anybody else!" Parrot looked over Orbweaver, her legs were still broken and still young. The Queen was still fully capable of killing her.

"Very well then!" The two faces were so alike, both had rage upon their faces and… They are the same. No, I'm just thinking that. He looked upon the two, hoping that a miracle would happen to save Orbweaver. "I'll lay another heir that will be more respectful and doesn't run away like you always do!" She was about to strike at Orbweaver with her spider-like legs when she jutted to a stop. Her eyes blank, devoid of life, before dropping to the ground. A wave of fear hit him as he stared at the Queen's killer. A WebWing in metal, a long shaft of some kind with a shiny long part on it.

"Target eliminated. The Heretic Queen Orbweaver is dead." He looked over towards them. "Does anyone know how to get back to Grottovia?"
