After Naruto's exciting first day of classes the rest of the week was just as interesting. Even if it lacked a bit of danger in his opinion. He had quickly fallen into a new morning routine. After his usual training he would head back up to his dormitory for a quick shower and change of clean clothes. By the time he would come back down to the common room were Hermione was already be waiting for him, with her large ginger cat crookshanks. Who had seemed to taking a great liking towards Naruto. After trying to convince him not to leave the castle alone in the morning due to Sirius Black being on the loose. The blonde just shrugged off her worries saying he could take care of himself. The two would then spend the next hour or so as they waited for the rest of Gryffindor House to awaken talking. From going over class work to learning more about each other.
In no time at all with Hermione's help Naruto had come to gain a greater understanding of both the wizarding and muggle worlds. As well as being caught up with her's, Ron's, and Harry's adventures in Hogwarts the past two years. Not only that but Hermione had also come to learn just how reckless Naruto could be and just how dangerous his home was. All of this raised more questions in Hermione's mind about how Naruto. How had he even ended up at Hogwarts. She would have to take a look in the school library to try and find out any information about it. However Naruto didn't seem to share in her enthusiasm in finding a way back home.
There were still something's Naruto had yet to been fully included in when it came to the Harry, Ron, and Hermione. This didn't really bother Naruto as much as he thought it would. Before he would have hated not being included. Now that he was making friends with his fellow Hogwarts students a lot of things seemed to be changing. Naruto know there was something going with Harry and the escaped criminal Sirius Black, but he fully understand. At the same time he has yet to tell Harry or Ron his really story.
Today found Naruto taking with Hermione over his excitement towards going to potions. Something that earned him funny and disbelieving looks from the rest of the Gryffindors in the Great Hall that Thursday morning during breakfast.
"Are you mental? Snape despises anyone who's not a Slytherin." Ron said through a month full of food.
"He wasn't that bad during the summer." Naruto said a bit confused. Sure Snape was strict but he wasn't a bad professor to him.
"Stop it Ron," Hermione said "Professor Snape is no more strict than Professor McGonagall." However it didn't look like Ron or Harry agreed with her.
"Hey maybe it's because I was almost a Slytherin. You think that has something to do with it." Naruto finally said after taking some time to think about what Ron had said. At the blondes declaration Ron almost choked on his eggs.
"You were almost sorted in to Slytherin?" Harry asked never before hearing about another lion that could have been a snake.
"Yeah the sorting hat was about to before I asked it not too." Naruto said as he took a bite out of his food. "What's up?" He asked once he looked up and saw they were still looking at him.
"Naruto if you didn't know about the Hogwarts houses why did you ask to not be sorted into Slytherin?" Hermione asked what they were all thinking.
"Oh, that I asked it to put me somewhere I could make lots of real friends, so it put me in Gryffindor." Naruto said as he flashed her a brilliant smile that cause her to become a bit flushed. After minutes later the Great Hall was starting to empty so the grabbed their bags and headed down to the dungeons. Once they had arrived Naruto saw the rest of the Slytherin third years waiting outside the class.
"No Malfoy, good the little git." Ron said as he looked around the corridor.
"In side now," Snape said as he opened the dungeon door. "Today you will be attempting the Shrinking Solution, now this potion you will only one rat spleen was needed and a dash of leech juice will be enough." Looked up at the instructions Naruto and Hermione partnered up together at a table. "You have until the end of the lesson to make your potion now get to work." And they did just that following step by step Naruto and Hermione prepared there ingredients.
"You know the first time Severus told me what potions class was, I told him it sounded like magic cooking." Naruto told Hermione under his breath, this caused Hermione to brake out in to a fit of giggles. Which she quickly had to hide as Snape looked in here direction.
"Your very good at this Naruto." Hermione said as she observed the blonde work."Next we need to cut the daisy roots." Hermione instructed him as she carefully took out her knife and got to work.
"Alright," Naruto said as he with a bit for flare took out his knife which he spun around his fingers effortlessly. "I'll start skinning these shrivelfig." He made quick work out of both with relative esse. About halfway though double Potions. Malfoy had swaggered into the dungeon, his right arm covered in bandages and bound up in a sling.
"How is it, Draco?" simpered Pansy Parkinson. "Does it hurt much?"
"Yeah," said Malfoy, putting on a brave sort of grimace. But Naruto saw him wink at Crabbe and Goyle when Pansy had looked away.
"Settle down, settle down," said Professor Snape idly. Looking up from his table Naruto saw that Draco was set up his cauldron right next to Harry and Ron so that they were preparing their ingredients on the same table.
"Sir," Malfoy called, "Sir, I'll need help cutting up these daisy roots, because of my arm —"
"Weasley, cut up Malfoy's roots for him," said Snape without looking up. Ron went brick red
"What's he playing at." Hermione said, looking over to her Naruto wondered what she was talking about.
"Malfoy he's up to something. Now let move on to the next step." She told Naruto and together they continued to work.
"So, the reason you can use a knife like that is -is it because of?" Hermione started to say but trailed off not liking talking about these sort of things but unable to keep here curiosity in check.
"Yes, back in the academy how to use a knife was a very important lesson." Naruto said a he brought the knife up and looked at it carefully. "But these kinds of knives would be terrible for throwing." He finished as he out it away.
"But, sir — !" Naruto could hear Ron's angry voice and looking up from his caldron he saw Professor Snape standing over Harry and Ron's table.
"Now," said Snape in his most dangerous voice. Ron shoved his own beautifully cut roots across the table at Malfoy, then took up the knife again.
"And, sir, I'll need this shrivelfig skinned," said Malfoy, his voice full of malicious laughter
"Alright that should do it, now we add the last of the ingredients." Hermione said getting Naruto attention. Looking back to his work Naruto didnas she instructed him.
"Orange, Longbottom," said Snape, ladling some up and allowing it to splash back into the cauldron, so that everyone could see.
"Orange. Tell me, boy, does anything penetrate that thick skull of yours? Didn't you hear me say, quite clearly, that only one rat spleen was needed? Didn't I state plainly that a dash of leech juice would suffice? What do I have to do to make you understand, Longbottom?" Neville was pink and trembling. He looked as though he was on the verge of tears. This quickly angered Naruto as he knew all too well the feeling of being humiliated in class.
"It's not his fault," Naruto said as the whole class looked towards him. "I'm the one who did that to Neville's potion I was added ingredients when he wasn't looking." He said this with a straight face and the utmost seriousness to the shock of his fellow Gryffindors. Hermione had been the first to recover.
"Please, sir," said Hermione, "please, I could help Neville put it right —"
"I don't remember asking you to show off, Miss Granger," said Snape coldly, and Hermione went as pink as Neville the way Snape was treating his friends was really stating to get the blond seeing red.
"Longbottom, at the end of this lesson we will feed a few drops of this potion to your toad and see what happens. Perhaps that will encourage you to do it properly." Snape moved away, leaving Neville breathless with fear.
"But I'm the one who -" Naruto said.
"As for you Uzumaki detention for lying to a professor." Snape said as he sat down behind his desk.
"Help me!" he moaned to Hermione.
"I'll cover you from Snape, you help Neville." Naruto whispered to Hermione as he moved to block her from Snape's view.
"You should have finished adding your ingredients by now; this potion needs to stew before it can be drunk, so clear away while it simmers and then we'll test Longbottom's" Crabbe and Goyle laughed openly, watching Neville sweat as he stirred his potion feverishly. Hermione was muttering instructions to him. Meanwhile Naruto blocked her from his view as best as he could. The end of the lesson in sight, Snape strode over to Neville, who was cowering by his cauldron.
"Everyone gather 'round," said Snape, his black eyes glittering, "and watch what happens to Longbottom's toad. If he has managed to produce a Shrinking Solution, it will shrink to a tadpole. If, as I don't doubt, he has done it wrong, his toad is likely to be poisoned."
The Gryffindors watched fearfully. The Slytherins looked excited. Snape picked up Trevor the toad in his left hand and dipped a small spoon into Neville's potion, which was now green. He trickled a few drops down Trevor's throat. There was a moment of hushed silence, in which Trevor gulped; then there was a small pop, and Trevor the tadpole was wriggling in Snape's palm. The Gryffindors burst into applause. Snape, looking sour, pulled a small bottle from the pocket of his robe, poured a few drops on top of Trevor, and he reappeared suddenly, fully grown.
"Five points from Gryffindor," said Snape, which wiped the smiles from every face. "I told you not to help him, Miss Granger. Class dismissed, Uzumaki you stay." As the rest of the class finished putting there things away Naruto just moved towards Snape's desk telling Harry, Ron, and Hermione he would see them at Defense Against the Dark Arts.
"What's up Severus?" Asked Naruto wondering what the head of Slytherin house wanted with him.
"Frist, you will call me Professor Snape, Now the Headmaster may have seen fit to allow you such formalities but I do not." Snape said looking at the blond from his behind his desk.
"Okay" Naruto said with a shrug of his shoulders. "Professor Snape." Naruto added as an afterthought when Snape gave him a cold glare.
"Good, now you will report to Filch in the great hall tonight after dinner so that you may be given your detention." Snape said as he dismissed Naruto from the classroom. Making his way out of the dungeons Naruto headed up the marble staircase for his next class. Professor Lupin wasn't there when he arrived at his first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson, but the rest of the class was . Looking around Naruto saw that Hermione had saved him a seat next to her. Sitting down, he took out his book, quill, and parchment.
"So, what did Snape want?" asked Harry who was sitting with Ron at the next table.
"Oh, he was just telling me my detention starts tonight with Filch." Naruto said not really seeing detention as a big deal. Back in the village Iruka-sensei would have given him much worse.
"T-thanks Naruto." Neville said as he came up to the blonde. "Sorry about the detention."
"Don't worry about it Neville," Naruto said as he dismissed the apology. "What are friends for." At this poor Neville got watery eyed.
"That was very brave trying to take the blame for Neville." Lavender Brown said as the whole class agreed on Snape always picking on Neville. So as they waited the class talked. When Lupin finally entered the room. Lupin smiled vaguely and placed his tatty old briefcase on the teacher's desk.
"Good afternoon," he said. "Would you please put all your books back in your bags. Today's will be a practical lesson. You will need only your wands." A few curious looks were exchanged as the class put away their books.
"Right then," said Professor Lupin, when everyone was ready. "If you'd follow me." Puzzled but interested, the class got to its feet and followed Professor Lupin out of the classroom. He led them along the deserted corridor and around a corner, where the first thing they saw was Peeves the Poltergeist, who was floating upside down in midair and stuffing the nearest keyhole with chewing gum. Peeves didn't look up until Professor Lupin was two feet away; then he wiggled his curly-toed feet and broke into song.
"Loony, loopy Lupin," Peeves sang. "Loony, loopy Lupin, loony, loopy Lupin —" Rude and unmanageable as he almost always was, Peeves usually showed some respect toward the teachers.
"I'd take that gum out of the keyhole if I were you, Peeves," he said pleasantly. "Mr. Filch won't be able to get in to his brooms." However, Peeves paid no attention to Professor Lupin's words, except to blow a loud wet raspberry. Professor Lupin gave a small sigh and took out his wand.
"This is a useful little spell," he told the class over his shoulder. "Please watch closely." He raised the wand to shoulder height, said, "Waddiwasi!" and pointed it at Peeves. With the force of a bullet, the wad of chewing gum shot out of the keyhole and straight down Peeves's left nostril; he whirled upright and zoomed away, cursing.
"Cool, sir!" said Dean Thomas in amazement.
"Thank you, Dean," said Professor Lupin, putting his wand away again. "Shall we proceed?" They set off again, the class looking at shabby Professor Lupin with increased respect. He led them down a second corridor and stopped, right outside the staffroom door.
"Inside, please," said Professor Lupin, opening it and standing back. The staffroom, a long, paneled room full of old, mismatched chairs, was empty except for one teacher. Snape was sitting in a low armchair, and he looked around as the class filed in. His eyes were glittering and there was a nasty sneer playing around his mouth. As Professor Lupin came in and made to close the door behind him, Snape said,
"Leave it open, Lupin. I'd rather not witness this." He got to his feet and strode past the class, his black robes billowing behind him. At the doorway he turned on his heel and said,
"Possibly no one's warned you, Lupin, but this class contains Neville Longbottom. I would advise you not to entrust him with anything difficult. Not unless Miss. Granger or Mr. Uzumaki is hissing instructions in his ear." Neville and Hermione went scarlet.
"Well maybe if you were better teacher, Neville wouldn't be so bad potions." Naruto angrily unfortunately Snape who had yet to leave the room heard him along with the majority of the class. The whole room fell silent, no one dared to make a sound as Snape and Naruto stared daggers at each other.
"A week of detention Uzumaki and 10 points from Gryffindor for you cheek." Snape said through gritted teeth. Harry had only ever seen Snape have that look of hate on his face when he was looking at him. Somehow Naruto had been able to bring it out if the potions master.
"Fine, doesn't change the fact that you're a git." Naruto said has he continued to glared at Snape. There was an audible gasp as the entire class had clearly heard the blonde.
"Another week of detentions and 20 points from Gryffindor, you may be the headmaster new favorite but you will show me respect." Snape and Naruto were now less then a foot a apart.
"Not likely." Naruto shot back definitely with a scarf. Although he was the shortest boy in third year Snape's towering height did little to discourage Naruto as the two faced off.
"That will cost you another week, do-not-test-me-boy." Snape growled out, the class and Professor Lupin included were now watching there exchange like a tennis match. Naruto was about to say something but was stopped when he felt someone pull at his robes sleeve.
"Why don't you add another one. That way we can make it an even four." Naruto said
"A months worth of detentions it is then." Snape said coolly. "Had enough."
"Not even close." Naruto said with a smirk.
"That's another one." Snape countered. "Say the word and we'll keep going."
"Go." Naruto said
"That's another one." Snape said.
"Naruto, cut it out. . . . Stop" It had finally been Hermione that put a stop to Naruto and Snape's argument. At the look of pleading Hermione was giving him, Naruto lost the heart to continue his defiance against the potions master. Snape Seeing that it was done with turned and left the room. Professor Lupin had raised his eyebrows as he looked at the two Gryffindors.
"Now, then," said Professor Lupin trying to get the class back on track."Neville would assist me with the first stage of the operation." Beckoning the class toward the end of the room, where there was nothing but an old wardrobe where the teachers kept their spare robes. As Professor Lupin went to stand next to it, the wardrobe gave a sudden wobble, banging off the wall.
"Nothing to worry about," said Professor Lupin calmly because a few people had jumped backward in alarm.
"There's a boggart in there." Most people seemed to feel that this was something to worry about. Neville gave Professor Lupin a look of pure terror, and Seamus Finnigan eyed the now rattling doorknob apprehensively.
"Boggarts like dark, enclosed spaces," said Professor Lupin. "Wardrobe's, the gap beneath beds, the cupboards under sinks — I've even met one that had lodged itself in a grandfather clock. This one moved in yesterday afternoon, and I asked the headmaster if the staff would leave it to give my third years some practice.
"So, the first question we must ask ourselves is, what is a boggart?" Hermione and Naruto both put up her hand however Hermione had been a second quicker.
"It's a shape-shifter," she said. "It can take the shape of whatever it thinks will frighten us most."
"Couldn't have put it better myself," said Professor Lupin, and Hermione glowed.
"So, the boggart sitting in the darkness within has not yet assumed a form. He does not yet know what will frighten the person on the other side of the door. Nobody knows what a boggart looks like when he is alone, but when I let him out, he will immediately become whatever each of us most fears.
"This means," said Professor Lupin, choosing to ignore Neville's small sputter of terror,
"that we have a huge advantage over the boggart before we begin. Have you spotted it, Harry?" Trying to answer a question with Hermione next to him, bobbing up and down on the balls of her feet with her hand in the air, was very off-putting for anyone in the class, but Harry had a go.
"Er — because there are so many of us, it won't know what shape it should be?"
"Precisely," said Professor Lupin, and Hermione put her hand down, looking a little disappointed. "It's always best to have company when you're dealing with a boggart. He becomes confused. Which should he become, a headless corpse or a flesh-eating slug? I once saw a boggart make that very mistake — tried to frighten two people at once and turned himself into half a slug. Not remotely frightening.
"The charm that repels a boggart is simple, yet it requires force of mind. You see, the thing that really finishes a boggart is laughter. What you need to do is force it to assume a shape that you find amusing. "We will practice the charm without wands first. After me, please . . . Riddikulus!"
"Riddikulus!" said the class together.
"Good," said Professor Lupin. "Very good. But that was the easy part, I'm afraid. You see, the word alone is not enough. And this is where you come in, Neville." The wardrobe shook again, though not as much as Neville, who walked forward as though he were heading for the gallows.
"Right, Neville," said Professor Lupin. "First things first: what would you say is the thing that frightens you most in the world?" Neville's lips moved, but no noise came out.
"Didn't catch that, Neville, sorry," said Professor Lupin cheerfully Neville looked around rather wildly, as though begging someone to help him, then said, in barely more than a whisper,
"Professor Snape." Nearly everyone laughed. Even Neville grinned apologetically. Professor Lupin, however, looked thoughtful.
"Professor Snape . . . hmmm . . . Neville, I believe you live with your grandmother?"
"Er — yes," said Neville nervously. "But — I don't want the boggart to turn into her either."
"No, no, you misunderstand me," said Professor Lupin, now smiling. "I wonder, could you tell us what sort of clothes your grandmother usually wears?" Neville looked startled, but said,
"Well . . . always the same hat. A tall one with a stuffed vulture on top. And a long dress . . . green, normally . . . and sometimes a fox-fur scarf."
"And a handbag?" prompted Professor Lupin.
"A big red one," said Neville.
"Right then," said Professor Lupin. "Can you picture those clothes very clearly, Neville? Can you see them in your mind's eye?"
"Yes," said Neville uncertainly, plainly wondering what was coming next. "When the boggart bursts out of this wardrobe, Neville, and sees you, it will assume the form of Professor Snape," said Lupin.
"And you will raise your wand — thus — and cry 'Riddikulus' — and concentrate hard on your grandmother's clothes. If all goes well, Professor Boggart Snape will be forced into that vulture-topped hat, and that green dress, with that big red handbag." There was a great shout of laughter. The wardrobe wobbled more violently
"If Neville is successful, the boggart is likely to shift his attention to each of us in turn," said Professor Lupin
"I would like all of you to take a moment now to think of the thing that scares you most, and imagine how you might force it to look comical. . . ." The room went quiet. Naruto thought . . . What scared him most in the world? His first thought was of a ghost. However, as much as he disliked ghost his time at the school had changed his opinion for the most part. Ghost were no longer the thing that scared him most in the world.
The Kyuubi was out of the question now that he was with out it and his chakra. Being alone maybe when he was younger but not now. Beatings he could take thanks to his fast healing. This was turning out to be a lot harder then Professor Lupin said it would be. Naruto had become so fixated on thinking about what he feared that he had been completely caught off guard when his name was called up to face the boggart.
"Naruto" said Professor Lupin. Naruto stepped forward as a legless spider rolled around the floor.
Crack!
Every looked around expecting to see what Naruto's fear would be, but nothing was there at all everyone looked around the room wondering if his fear was just out of sight. Suddenly everyone had to cover there ears was the room was filled with a blood curdling scream of fear. With a loud pop the boggart had exploded, burst into a thousand tiny wisps of smoke, and was gone.
"Wicked." Naruto said realizing he had no fear.
"Excellent!" cried Professor Lupin as the class broke into applause. "Excellent, Naruto that was very unexpected. Well done, everyone. . . . Let me see . . . five points to Gryffindor for every person to tackle the boggart. . . .and five each to Hermione and Harry."
"But I didn't do anything," said Harry.
"You and Hermione answered my questions correctly at the startf of the class, Harry," Lupin said lightly. "Very well, everyone, an excellent lesson. Homework kindly read the chapter on boggarts and summarize it for me . . . to be handed in on Monday. That will be all."
"I wonder why Professor Lupin's frightened of crystal balls?" said Lavender thoughtfully.
"What about Naruto his boggart didn't turn in to anything, he not scared of anything." Said Neville in awe. Naruto but smile smugly as the rest of the class stated to speak about him being fearless.
"That was the best Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson we've ever had, wasn't it?" said Ron excitedly as they made their way back to the classroom to get their bags.
"He seems like a very good teacher," said Hermione approvingly. "But I wish I could have had a turn with the boggart."
"What would it have been for you?" said Ron, sniggering. "A piece of homework that only got nine out of ten?" Later that evening they had dropped off there bags in Gryffindor Tower before heading down for dinner.
"What about spiders?" Asked Ron
"Snakes - mummies - werewolves - heights - decapitated corpse - big spiders - you know who?" Through out dinner everyone who had been in Lupin's lesson had made a game out of trying to come up with something that Naruto could be afraid of.
"Nope, sorry guys none of that stuff is scary to me." Naruto said loving the attention and admiration he was getting. While the most thought he was cool some were even a bit jealous of his lack of fear. Hermione Granger was worried if Naruto had no fear there was nothing he wouldn't do because the consequences didn't seem to bother him.i Once they had finished dinner everyone had started to make their way back up to the common rooms. Naruto, Hermione, Harry, and Ron however remained in the entrance hall to keep the blonde company till his detention started.
"We heard you -"
"Called Snape a git-"
"To his face-"
"And now have six months detention-" It was Weasley twins Fred and George.
"Well yeah," Naruto said as he shrugged his shoulders."He was being a git." All five boys laughed at Naruto's explanation. Hermione however had a look of disapproval on her face which quickly stopped Naruto from laughing along with them.
"Well young Uzumaki-"
"If ever your in need-"
"Of anything short of murder-"
"Know that Fred and George Weasley-"
"Will answer your call-" they finished by kneeling infront of Naruto as if they were standing before a king.
"That's not funny you two," Hermione said "Naruto could have gotten in serious trouble you shouldn't be encouraging him.
"Hermione he has six weeks of detention." Harry said he gave her a funny look "How much more trouble can he get into." However this did nothing to dissuade Hermione from worrying about the blonde McGonagall had charged her with looking after.
"We better get going before Filch shows up." Ron said and say goodbye to them as they made their way up the marble staircase Naruto didn't have to wait long until the school caretaker arrived.
"Follow me," said Filch, lighting a lamp and leading him through the double doors and outside on to the darkening school grounds.
"I bet you'll think twice about breaking a school rule again, won't you, eh?" he said, leering at him. "Oh yes . . . hard work and pain are the best teachers if you ask me. . . . It's just a pity they let the old punishments die out . . . hang you by your wrists from the ceiling for a few days, I've got the chains still in my office, keep 'em well oiled in case they're ever needed. . . . Right, off we go, and don't think of running off, now, it'll be worse for you if you do." They marched off across the dark grounds. There was a sudden high pitched squawk as something landed on shoulder.
"Hey Téme," Naruto said as he brought a hand up to stroke the raven under it's beak. "Haven't seen you all week we're have you been?" However the only response he got in return from the bird was it closing its eyes and turning away from him.
Naruto wondered what his punishment was going to be. It must be something really horrible, or Filch wouldn't be sounding so delighted. The moon was bright, but clouds scudding across it kept throwing them into darkness. After a few minutes of walking in silence they finally reached the front of the Herbology greenhouses.
"Alright" Filch said putting down his lamp "Professor Snape needs you to gather some flubber worms for his first year potion class so you'll be going through Professor Sprout's vegetable patch by hand till you fill up those two buckets" Filch told him has he pointed out too large tin buckets that have been placed on the ground before he as picked his lamp back up off the ground and stated to head back to the school.
"I'll be back at midnight for you." He called back over his shoulder. Naruto turned back towards the greenhouses as he pulled out his wand and ignited the tip.
"Lumos." Naruto called out as he pointed the beam of light that shoot out form his wand in front of him. Taking flight from off his shoulders Naruto saw Teme land a top the makeshift scarecrow in the middle of the vegetable patch. Looking around the ground and walking over the vegetable patch, Naruto pointed the light around the dark earth.
"Hmm. . . . he didn't say I couldn't use magic." Naruto said to himself as he started to concentrate on what he was looking. "Accio flubber worms." He called out remembering the first magic spell he had ever seen. Suddenly the dark earth of the vegetable patch was disturbed as a dozen flubber worms rocketed towards Naruto. There were to many moving to fast for him to dodge out of the way. He was inevitably struck in the face by a few of the slimy worms. This turn of events caused loud shrieks and squawks to erupt from Teme who had witnessed the entire thing.
"Laugh it up bird brain." Naruto called out angrily as he tried to clean his face with the back of his robes. Which Téme gladly did as he took off and started flying around the vegetable patch.
"That's it," Having had enough of the laughing bird Naruto picked up on the buckets and tried to throw it at Téme. Unfortunately he had been able to move out of the way and the bucket went flying past the vegetable patch.
"Great, look what you made me do." Naruto said as he watched Téme fly away in to the night. Naruto was about to try using the Accio spell to retrieve the bucket, but remembering the worms thought better of it.
"Lumos," Naruto called out as he started to look for the bucket. Moving past the greenhouses he was about about to turn back when the sound of a low grown of pain caught his attention. Thinking he might have hit something Naruto access the grounds his wand light illuminating the way. He finally stopped when he came upon a large set of bushes when a faint rustling could be heard.
"Hey it's alright I didn't mean to his you with that bucket." Naruto quickly said thinking he might have injured a poor animal. Moving past the bushes he cast the wand light around the ground and that's when he saw what he had hit. lying on the ground completely knocked out cold was the skeleton thin form of an unconscious man, dressed in torn rags. His long-matted hair and thick beard concealed most of his face.
"Crap." Was all Naruto could say.
A.N.Alright everyone hope you liked the chapter let me know that you thought about Naruto and Snape's argument and how Naruto and Hermione are progressing with each other. As always please review with any questions or ideas, thanks.
