[30 minutes before the final showdown.]

The office was mostly silent. Not even a single fly dares to take off flying. The only thing that is even making the slightest noise was the stamp that is landing on top of paper after paper. However, after leaving the fifth stamp mark on another document's surface the young ruler finally had enough.

"I can't take this anymore!" Koenma exclaimed as he threw away the papers from his desk in complete frustration. "It's been like almost a day and I didn't get any update from those two! What are they playing at!" As he was complaining he is also throwing his famous temper tantrum like any little spoiled toddler would.

"But Koenma sir!" Jorge the ogre reasoned with his boss as he began to scramble on the floor pick up the papers. "You know pretty well that we can't really keep track of them in any way, even if we want to."

"I KNOW IDIOT!" Koenma shouted at the poor ogre who was sweating bullets. "BUT AT LEAST THAT FOOLISH GIRL COULD HAVE SENT ME A MESSAGE THROUGH HER NEW COMMUNICATOR, DAMN IT!" Of course in his speech he was referring to the Urameshi girl, because out of his two recently hired prodigies, she was always doing things responsibly.

"B-but sir, that's not really possible either, and it's all because of Akio's seal." The blue ogre explained it again, that only fed the young rule's anger even more.

"SAY WHAT?!" The toddler screamed in frustration. "AND HOW COME I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT THIS?!" At that, Jorge scratched the back of his neck while he let out a nervous chuckle.

"Uh, it must have slipped my mind-." The ogre replied to the question, right before his boss flew over and hit him on the head. The young price is letting his anger and frustration out on his poor assistant while blaming him for many things that are either connected to the toddler's issue or doesn't make sense at all-.

"KOENMA SIR!" Another ogre shouted who just suddenly burst through his boss's office door, to Koenma's great annoyance.

"CAN'T YOU SEE I AM BUSY RIGHT NOW?!" The little toddler snapped at him irritatedly.

"But sir! It's about the Spirit Beast!" The ogre with red skin and brunette locks insisted.

"What Spirit Beast?" Koenma asked now a little interested in the topic, and at least in a now calm matter. "You mean Yusuke's?"

"No sir!" The ogre shook his head frantically. "It's the Phoenix one."

"WHAT?!" Koenma gasped in utter disbelief as he landed on his feet and rushed over to the red ogre. "Lead the way immediately!" The young prince demanded. Without any other word, all three went to the door that is holding the Spirit Beast Egg behind. "Is something wrong with it?" Koenma asked as the red ogre pushed the code onto the keypad.

"Nothing specific sir." The ogre said. "But it's acting up for the first time in decades." Just then, the door slid open, revealing the golden egg that had white flames decorations on each side.

"Do you have any idea what could this means sir?" Jorge asked out of pure curiosity from his boss who had been staring at the small egg intensely.

"It. . . It can't be. . ." The young prince finally said something. His hazel orbs trembling bewildered, but they were also mesmerized as he kept on watching the pure white energy surrounding the small egg like spider webs that would occasionally be picked up by the wind. He got this egg when Akio was first brought to the Spirit World, right after when Zankoku was first defeated, many-many years ago or so. . .

From Akio's explanation, once the power and soul fused with his own, the Phoenix's body suddenly turned into this very egg that was given to Koenma, in order to keep it safe from harm.

'If anything ever happens to me and I am gone, please take care of my friend here. For me. Please." The toddler heard the young boy's collected voice clearly. Ever since the egg had been under the prince's supervision for ages. It hadn't shown any sign of changes ever since. . .

And now. . .

"Koenma sir?" Jorge called questioningly, and a little concerned with his boss's silence.

"This can mean only one thing. . ." The heir started observably, his gaze falling into a solemn frown as his tone hardened as well. "The Phoenix has risen up and had found another vessel." He then looked back at the egg, at least one last time before closing his eyes and think. 'Big question is, where is he now. . . ?' The young toddler asked himself. 'Where could his reincarnation be?'

[Back in the present and in Zankoku's palace]

"Come on now little girl." The sorcerer tauntingly called out as he was now in front of the pile of rubbles. He don't really expect anything other than finding the Urameshi girl's corpse that he can either destroy or keep as his trophy. "You're about to-." His confidence was soon replaced with surprise and dread as soon as a huge rock from the pile collided right into his chest and sent him flying into one of his pillars that is keeping the ceiling above his throne room. The solid surface cracked, just like the backbones of Zanoku's who gasped for air like a drying fish on the dry shore. His body slipped down to the floor as the pain forced him down on his knees. He used his staff to support himself. As the sorcerer raised up his stare. . . "W. . .What in the. . . ?" His question was soon caught in his throat. A gasp of disbelief escaped through his lips as his cold eyes stared at the figure who emerged from her rocky prison. But in appearance it was not the same human he had fought before.

Her once Night-Black hair was now washed in the colour of pure white like the freshly fallen snow, her dark chocolate-brown orbs were now replaced with glowing sapphire-blue eyes. The skin tone had turned little paler, but besides those, the clothing and every other thing looked the same. . .

Zankoku looked at the human girl in total shock because he never expected any of this turn around. A cold chill ran down his spine when he sensed the power that is seeping out of the girl's body. But then his eyes suddenly landed on the female Spirit Detective's right eye. Under it, there was a wing shaped tattoo. This made the man trail down to the girl's left shoulder where her other tattoo is, glowing brightly along with the other one.

The very same ones that the Phoenix of Light had marked Akio with. . .

The very same ones that the sorcerer's enemy once had.

"You. . . You're back again. . . " Zankoku breathed out, but now he recovered from his shock and was replaced with hatred and rage. Rage that were buried many decades ago but now has resurfaced. "How dare you!?"

"Hn." Miyuki hummed out as her eyes narrowed at the now angry yet. . . shaky sorcerer figure. "Not so brave now huh?" The mocking tone made Zankoku's blood boil.

The man let out a loud and frustrated growl as he finally got back up to his feet and prepared his staff that now turned into a dark sword.

"You should have stayed dead when you had the chance." Zankoku spat at the now white-haired girl, who cautiously stepped closer to the area where her opponent is.

"Oh, I am so sorry I did not know you were a life consultant who gets to give me suggestions on how to live my life." Miyuki barked back sarcastically, giving a boost to the magician's fury. "Maybe if you hadn't started this whole drama, then you could have easily avoided all those mortifying things."

"Silence!" Zankoku cried out in anger as he pointed his staff at the girl figure, which turned into a sword. "You might have the power of that pathetic white-bird, but you're still a fragile little girl with a weak human body. "

"Well fool, if you have a problem with me, write the problem on a piece of paper, fold it, and shove it up to your ass." Miyuki replied back casually as she dusted off her right shoulder. The retort made the sorcerer growl even more. His anger unlocked his spirit energy that was now swimming between different colours thanks to the many abilities he is possessing like the control over the elements and his dark magic. But while all of that the gem of his crown was glowing brightly. The huge crystal ball, which is now the sword's blade also began to glow right after that. A small detail that didn't go unnoticed by the Phoenix girl. But now it gave her the clue that she needed to find her way up to the downfall of her enemy.

"I don't know how in the world did you live, but I will definitely finish you off, once and for all!" Zankoku cried out before charging at the female figure at full speed, crazed with emotions that made his own energy go haywire. Miyuki braced herself. Now prepared and more confident than ever.

He swung his sword from left to right but not once got close to the girl. However, he did end up slamming her with the bottom of the sword, sending the female Spirit Detective into the floor. Right after that he quickly leaped up high in the air and readied his powerful lightning blast towards Miyuki's frame.

Luckily, she got out of the way just in time, and when Zankoku landed back on her level, her fist lit up with her white flames and punch right into the sorcerer's face. The impact caused him to fly right into the wall and hit his back on it, hard. But as he fell back down, he landed on his feet like a cat.

The white-haired girl sped over as fast as lightning. The sorcerer braced himself with his weapon and was ready to stab the girl, but instead of running into the blade, the Urameshi girl stepped to the side and grabbed a hold of the man's wrists. Before he could even take the information in and give any reaction, the short female figure threw him over the other side with all her might. Unfortunately, he managed to land on his feet and repeat the same method his enemy had did on him. He tossed the teen girl like a rag doll over his head and onto the floor a few feet away from him before striking with his sword that soon turned into the huge hammer again. Miyuki quickly recovered from her position and jumped away from the heavy weapon that crushed into the stone floor. Before the female figure landed, she boosted herself up high with some fire power that shot out of her feet, then when she was high in the air, she put her wrist together and sent a huge and powerful white fire blast, right towards the sorcerer's face.

In the great hall, where the rest of Miyuki's team are, Mara and Ruby had been fighting for a while which felt like an eternity.

The water-bender girl's body bounced up and down on the dust as the monstrous woman kicked her away. As Ruby struggled to get back up Mara mockingly laughed at her opponent.

"You're weak!" The woman with magenta attire taunted. "Just like the rest of your people! They didn't deserve to live in this realm. In 'our' realm!" In response, all she received was a glare from Ruby who was fuming on the inside by the many insults the woman had thrown. "Hm." Mara smirked under her mask, sadistically and with quiet some pride before charging at the Water-Bender girl, ready to stab her with her sais. Fast, Ruby pulled out the remaining water from her pouches and created two sharp blades on her arms that deflected Mara's weapon. The woman strikes repeatedly, but the young bender managed to block them with her ice blade or dodge them with the help of her agility. From her part, the teen also attempted to hit back by kicking with her leg or lash out with her ice blades. In the next kick, however, Mara caught the Water Bender's ankle, and harshly, she slung her away. As soon as Ruby's body hit the hard surface, the impact forced her to gasped for air before sliding down to the ground. First to her knees, then she fell flat on her stomach. Mara launched herself at the teen girl, but she didn't get anywhere close since Ruby reflexes kicked back in and sent the woman flying backward with her water blast technique. Mara landed on one knee and right after that, she sent small purple energy blasts at the teen girl, forcing her back once again to make contact with the now cracked pillar. This time Ruby remained on the floor, sitting there while whimpering in pain.

The boys watched it helplessly from the barrier they were trapped in. Now that the paralyzing effects wore off of them they attempted to get themselves out of their prison. However, it was easier said than done.

Yusuke repeatedly punched the purple barrier, but it didn't seem to work.

"Damn it!" The male Spirit Detective exclaimed annoyed. "How are we suppose to help the girls if we're stuck here?!"

"SPIRIT SWORD!" Kuwabara called out as his hand summoned his weapon. Sadly that didn't work either. "Darn it with this forcefield! If we don't do something that woman will sure kill Ruby!"

Kurama examined the barrier, hoping for any sign of escape or fault, but he found none. He tried to remain calm but his concerns were focused mainly on the two girls who are fighting for their lives and it made his panic get some power over his cool head.

Ruby breathed heavily as one of her open eyes scanned her opponent who just got back on her feet, a bit wobbly. She glared at her, but then suddenly her hand felt something. . . . holes. . .

She looked down and saw the iron grate underneath her with the water deep down, below. A great amount that could maybe help her or even better save herself while stopping the mad woman in front of her.

"Now be a good girl. . . " Mara dramatically trailed off between pants as she twirled her weapons in her hands. "And stay still!" Then she lunged forward, fast as lightning. Ruby, of course, didn't obey to the ridiculous request and skipped away as best as she could. The sai blade has now stabbed the pillar instead of the girl, who within a swift motion slid her left hand on top of the iron grate and then shot it upwards in a cutting motion. That summoned up the water underneath her, and it soon turned into an ice blade that managed to cut off Mara's forearm, detaching from her right arm and beloved blade.

The enemy screamed full voice as she held onto her bleeding injury. The boys gasped at the gruesome sight while Ruby looked like she had been just struck by lightning. She looked horrified at what she had done, because never in a million years would she ever thought of .

"Way to go Ruby!" Yusuke's encouraging words were heard while Kuwabara cheered along, the two demons besides them let out a small sigh of relief, thinking that there is still a chance for the young bender to win this battle. However, Mara didn't find this. . . pleasant. . . at all. . .

"You. . ." She breathed through her gritted teeth. "YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS, YOU LITTLE RAT!" The woman lifted up her other sai high with the remaining hand and was ready for the kill. Time seemed to slow down when Mara was coming closer and closer to Ruby, who just began to get back to her senses. The tip of the blade was closing the gab, almost touching the young water bender's face. At fast, Ruby leaped upwards and her arms were risen up above her head. A motion that made the water fly upward and cover the two fighters, but within seconds it turned into ice.

"RUBY!" The three boys cried out in shock as they witness their friend being trapped by her own ice technique.

However, the disbelief soon began to creep onto their face when they see Ruby let out her warm breath through her nose, unfreezing herself and then, later on, separate herself from the liquid. Mara was still in the ice trap, so there was no way she can escape from it.

She wobbled away from her icy work and took a good look at it while coughing out the water she had accidentally swallowed. Despite being exhausted and sore, she still had some strength to do another hand motion, melting some parts of the ice so Mara can breathe. The woman coughed like no tomorrow, but as soon as her gaze was settled onto Ruby, she began to snap.

"You little rat!" Mara shouted as she tried to free her imprisoned body out of the ice, but since her magic doesn't work without the movements of her limbs, there wasn't anything she could do. Ruby panted hard but had chosen to say nothing. With a collected mind and calm soul, she cautiously made her way over to the monstrous creature. Her coffee-bean orbs suddenly found the corpse of the poor Kata. Even though she still have some anger left after the awful things she had done to her and her friends, Kata suffered a death that no one deserved. The sight saddened her, but then it was quickly replaced with rage. Ruby was now behind the trashing Mara, who just gave her a questioning look. "What are you gonna do now coward?" She asked rudely. "Finish me off?"

Taking a deep breath, Ruby shut her eyes tight before her hands did all the work. The girl's held and unbearable expression as she gripped onto the woman's neck, forcing the head to tilt upward. Then the Water-Bender raised up her other hand. It slowly began to go down and the tump finger pressed the spot between Mara's eyebrows forcefully like a button. The warrior's eyes suddenly go around and her mouth opened up like a gold-fish.

They stood in this position for a good amount of time and while that happened, the forcefield around the boys suddenly disappeared.

"Hey, we're free!" Kuwabara exclaimed happily as Yusuke laughed while the other two boys sighed in relief to themselves.

Seeing the results, Ruby let go of the woman who now looked like she was drained out of energy completely. The teen girl fell to her knees as she tried to catch her breath from the exhausting fight and work.

"Ruby, are you alright?" The redheaded teen didn't hesitate to ask as he helped the teen girl out with a helping hand. Ruby's face heats up a little but nodded her head in reply, giving her best reassuring smile there is, despite her drained body that was trembling like a dry leaf in the wild storm.

"Hey, what did you do to this psycho chick here?" Yusuke questioned as he pointed at Mara whose head was limp and her eyes closed.

"Ugh, did you. . . uh you know. . . finish the job?" Kazuma asked a little frightened as he took a bold move and poked Mara's cheek. Within that moment, her eyelids lifted up, barely, making the orange-haired thug let out a high pitched scream! "EAGH! She is breathing!" He exclaimed the shocking information as he landed on his butt.

"Interesting technique." The redhead suddenly spoke up.

"Indeed. . ." Hiei couldn't help but agree with the statement as well, almost sounding astonished like he got really intrigued with the technique his teammate had used.

"I locked her spiritual powers. Permanently." Ruby told the group. "So in that way, she can't hurt anyone else ever again." The answer shocked everyone, even the Fire Demon because no one had ever heard of such power's existence.

"Woah, who taught you that?" The male Spirit Detective asked.

"It doesn't matter." Ruby firmly butted in as she tried to walk on her own, but her body was way too tired to do that. The fox-demon in reflex caught her in time. "Let's get to the throne room. Miyuki is probably there, fighting with Zankoku."

"What?!" The Urameshi boy screamed in fear. "How are you-?!" He was about to ask but was cut off by Hiei.

"Then let's not waste any more time!" The demon exclaimed, earning a nod of agreement from Kurama and Ruby.

"Right!" Kuwabara for once agreed and he and his teammates began to run towards the doors of the throne room.

Ruby however stopped in her tracks when her eyes caught a familiar-looking object that rolled out of Kata's pants pocket.

"What is it?" The Fox-Demon asked the water-bender a little concerned. She said nothing and just silently approached the fallen warrior's body and picked up the round object.

That orb that can help them get home. And Kata had it all along. . .

"Hey what are you waiting for?! COME ON!" Yusuke hurried before he began running with Kuwabara and Hiei. Ruby gave a small nod before she and the fox-demon took off as well, now ready to take down the villain, the mastermind of all.
