"See?! This is what I was talking about!" Master Yara exclaimed furiously as she gave Yusuke a big earful of lecture after the explanation from the Male Spirit Detective and his friend who woke up from his nap. "But it seems like my dear sister didn't knock enough sense into that empty head of yours." She scolded even more as her hand was pulling the young black-haired boy by the ear.

"Leave me alone! I tried my best, okay?!" The now ten-year-old Urameshi boy snapped at the blind old woman as he tried to bat her hand away, but he was nothing compared to that old lady and her strength. But in the end he eventually succeeded, but in the process, his butt landed on the parkette, hard.

"Keep it down, will you?!" Ruby warned in a whisper/shout who just happened to walk in with a small round tray in her hands that had a few cups of hot herb tea. "You will end up waking up the whole forest around us." She commented sternly as she offered one cup to the young and short-haired Kurama, who gladly took it and drink it so he can get some warmth back into his system.

"What happened to the culprit? Did you managed to catch him?" Miyuki suddenly asked, not taking her eyes off of the tiny Hiei who was still lying unconscious on the sickbed. The teen girl's hand was covered in water and is glowing brightly on the little Fire Demon's forehead since his fever hadn't cooled down.

"Oh-uh. . ." Yusuke began with hesitation but in an instant, he began to sweat nervously while one hand rubbed the back of his head. "Well. . ." He didn't know how to start but from his tone everyone could suspect what the answe might be.

"Don't tell me he got away!?" Botan exclaimed, clearly not wanting her suspicion to come true, but by the looks of things, it already happened which caused her to let out a small groan and slap her hand over her forehead.

"Oh give me a break Botan, that thing almost killed us." Yusuke irritatedly pointed out the obvious since he and the others had been doing this really recently like, no kidding, every mission so far was like a new death wish for them.

"But now what?" The young bender girl questioned worriedly as she placed the tray of teas down and went to check on the little black-haired boy's injuries once more. "What are you going to do about. . . this?" She gestured at Yusuke's young form and then looked at the other two males.

"Yeah. . ." Miyuki chimed in softly as well as she cleaned Hiei's face gently with a wet rag, and make sure he is taken care of. "How long will it take to turn back to normal and how are we going to fix this?" Once she placed the rag back into the bowl she turned to the little redhead.

"We're not really sure." Kurama meekly said before swallowing down the hot tea down his throat. "Let's just hope that this is just temporary." Then a small cough came right after his sentence. He placed the cup down and covered himself with the warm blanket as best as he could around his frame.

"Is there anything you can do about this Genkai?" Ruby asked with hope in her eyes. "Any reverse spell or enchantment? Anything?"

"Beats me." The old woman with grayish-pink hair replied with a bored tone. "I am a Psychic, not some magician. They brought this on themselves." She added as her arms crossed over her chest.

"Shut up you old ha-!" Before Yusuke can even say it, a fist walloped him up on the back of his head. A loud and miserable groan escaped through his lips as rubbed the spot where his lump is. When he turned to the culprit, he spotted his younger sister of course who was not pleased. "Quit being mean for one second, okay?!" The Urameshi boy snapped at his sibling, or well at the moment big sister. "You can't wallop up an injured person like that!"

"I will stop, once you take things more seriously, you brat!" Miyuki snapped back with a low yet stern voice that a mother would have. The facial expression on her later on melted down as she took a deep breath and closed her eye while trying to calm her nerves down by massaging each side of her head. "Okay, now what?" The female Spirit Detective asked. "What are we going to say to mom? Or to your mom Shuichi?"

"A lie." Genkai butted in boredly. "Until this problem won't fix itself, you all stay here for the night or as long as it's needed."

"Great." Yara sarcastically said as she pinched the bridge of her nose and let out a small and tired sigh. "Things can't get any weirder." The comment reminded Miyuki about her ability she had recently discovered by accident.

"Speaking of weird things. . ." The Urameshi girl began as her hand went up to the back of her hair and began to scratch it. "I- " Before saying anything a small fit of harsh coughs cut her off. Ruby offered one of the cups to Miyuki who thanked her water-bender partner with a small nod before she took a sip from the warm drink.

"Wait a second. . ." Master Yara suddenly said before walking over to her student and grab both of her hands into hers.

"What's going on?" Yusuke asked while the Fox-Demon looked at the woman and the teen girl intriguingly. There was a long intense silence that lasted for like three-whole minutes before the blind old lady opened her mouth. But no words came out because a very impatient little punk made her answer retreat back into her throat. "What is it?!" He tried again with an annoyed tone as he walked toward them with the blanket hugging his shoulders. Before anyone can reply to his question properly, Miyuki started to inhale deeply and loudly before a huge sneeze escaped. Though this wasn't like any normal sneeze. A huge gust of wind knocked the young Spirit Detective Boy off of his feet, making him not so gracefully land on his butt again with his black-locks all messy like a porky pine while his blanket slapped Kurama in the face and the other Water-Bender girl hid behind the bed in reflex to shield herself. "The hell was that?" Yusuke can't help but comment as his eyes widened a little by surprise.

Genkai didn't even bother to hide the shock that just flickered in her own eyes a moment ago. A look of disbelief was painted onto Ruby's face as she slowly and cautiously rose up from her hiding spot while the redheaded boy pulled the second fabric material off of his face that matched with the water-bender girl's expression.

"Uhh. . . Bless you?" Ruby shakily said to her friend who looked like she was about to freak out on the inside, even though her face didn't say it, but her eyes however did.

"Unbelievable. . . " Genkai breathed out as she approached her sister who had not been fazed by the sudden wind accident. However, she was still in a state of disbelief.

"How in the world did you . . . ?" The Elemental asked as she let go of the girl's hands.

"I honestly don't know. . ." Miyuki replied with a soft and quiet voice that sounded similar to a mouse squeak. "I just found out about hours ago, before we went to fetch up the boys." The Urameshi girl answered quickly, her voice stammering a little.

"Well, this is indeed strange." Genkai observed as she also took Miyuki's hand into hers and examine her energy as well. "But at least it explains that little sickness of yours." She then paused for a second to think, trying to make sense of the problem. "When did this happened?"

"Well, she had been like this ever since we came back from our last mission with Zankoku." Ruby informed the old ladies as she settled herself beside Miyuki and place a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We don't know how the fight between him and her went down, but it might be a good starting point there."

"The gem. . ." The female Spirit Detective breathed out in realization.

"Huh?" The girl with almond-skin questioningly hummed.

"When I fought with Zankoku I realized the gem on his crown was the source of his powers and abilities." Miyuki brought it up. "Once I was able to get my hand on it, I destroyed it without a second thought. . . It exploded. . . "

"Probably the power within not only escaped but some maybe got stuck on you like glue." Kurama stated observably before picking up his cup and drinking the last drop of his tea. "However, it will take a little while for your physical body and spiritual self to adjust to this new power. So it would be highly advised to rest it out."

"Well, great." Yusuke whined. "She got from weird to freakish." The comment earned some sting eyes from the people in the room. Even his redheaded friend didn't take the words kindly, even though he knew Yusuke for being the sarcastic jokester who just can't make the timing right. "What? I was just joking!" The small Spirit Detective defended himself. Just then a small yawn escaped through Ruby's mouth.

"We should go to bed now." Suggested the water-bender girl as she got up from her seat.

"Agreed." Yara and Genkai replied in sync. "Show these dimwits the guest rooms."

"Of course." Ruby nodded her head before she gently placed her hand on Yusuke's small back. "Come on."

The boy didn't protest and just nodded his head while yawning loudly. Kurama slowly began to follow them as well, but his small head turned back when he noticed his childhood best friend remained next to his demon friend's bed side. The small redhead approached Miyuki who was staring at the small Hiei's sleeping figure with a blank expression, but when Kurama got closer, he was now able to see the worry in her eyes.

With a small sigh, his small hand reached for the teen girl and tap her on the arm softly.

"The same goes for you as well, Miyuki." He said softly. "You should get some sleep. You need it."

His small voice got Miyuki's attention but as soon as she took the smallest glance from the form of the ten-year-old redhead she turned her gaze back on the Fire demon in that very second.

"I'll be okay Shu. . . Besides you needed it more than I do." She told to her friend as she turned back around. The fox-boy got stunned by shock as soon as she saw the closed-eyed smile on The Urameshi girl's face, that reminded him so much of his mother's. The teen girl even placed one hand on top of his head, patting his red locks, taking the boy completely off guard because he had never seen this side of Miyuki for a long time now. . . . The very last time he had witnessed it was like two years ago. "What is it?" Miyuki rose an eyebrow as Kurama didn't say anything for a while since he froze a little. "Need a goodnight kiss?" The sarcastic statement finally snapped the little redhead out of the small trance and now his face was burning in embarrassment. Then his mind suddenly crossed that small 'incident' that he and Miyuki had. He immediately shook his head to get that memory out. Then like a moody little kid, he let out a huff and turned away with his arms crossed over his chest and a pout on his face. Then another thing made him froze in his place. The sound of Miyuki's soft chuckles. "Even though you still have the brains, you sure can act like a child sometimes." The Urameshi girl commented sarcastically as she cocked her head to the side while crossing her arms over her chest.

"Hmpf. Like you are any different." Kurama scoffed as he rolled his eyes. Without another word, the Urameshi girl took some drastic measures and threw the small redhead over her shoulder. "W-what the-?" The boy exclaimed as he looked at his childhood best friend in total disbelief.

"No excuses, little Weasley." Miyuki sternly said. "You're going to bed." A small drop of sweat rolled from the back of Kurama's head as he let out a sigh of defeat while his face flushed in embarrassment.

"I guess you will hold this over my head, won't you?" Kurama wondered, sill feeling mortified by this . . . little situation. Not to mention that he now know how his friend felt when he pulled the same move on her when they were kids.

"Yes." Miyuki said smoothly. "As many times as you had done it with me." She added, clearly having the same memory in her own mind.

Miyuki remembered how her younger self had this habit of always fuming and pouting for a long time, whenever she lost in a round of Janken game or at any other game to the Minamino brothers. Not only that, but she would refuse to move from her place whenever it was time to leave the playground. Of course, Shuichi knew he will get nowhere with the stubborn little girl with his words, so instead, he used a different approach. Every time this little habit happens the redhead would just hoist up the moody princess and threw her over his shoulder. Shiori, of course, found it hilarious even though she found the action a little too much. However, seeing how stubborn her so-called 'favourite little angel', she let her son get away with small warnings and gentle nudges.

As for Sanyu, he didn't want to miss the fun so like every little brother, he followed in his role model's footsteps.

The memory brought a small sad smile to Miyuki's face, however it soon faded away, which made Kurama's heart get struck by sadness as well.

"Well, here you are." The girl announced before placing the redheaded boy down back on his feet. "Now, go to sleep." Miyuki added before turning the boy's body and pushed him a little forward before shutting the door behind him, leaving a Kurama who was frozen by confusion.

"What just happened. . . ?" He couldn't help but mumble to himself, still not believing how this exchange just went down. But nonetheless, it felt nice to see her real self again. That kind side of her with a small amount of mischief and playfulness, that he loved so much. The spark that he really missed to see.

"What's with the red face fox boy?" The curious and tired voice of Yusuke asked Kurama. Before the demon-fox can open his mouth-.

"GO TO BED!" A stern and motherly voice of Miyuki snapped at the boys, scaring the living day out of them. However, when they felt the coast was clear, the boys began to quietly chuckle to themselves like little troublemakers who just got away with something.

My eye groggily opened up. A small yawn came from my lips but I covered it up with my hand. It soon came up to my good eye and rub the sleepiness out of it. Once I felt somewhat got conscious enough, my gaze fell on the surface I had slept on which surprised me a little.

Oh yeah. I spent the night trying to cool down this little porky pine's fever here. . . I turned to the said kid figure. He was still asleep. I cautiously approached him and gently place a hand on top of his temple once more.

'The fever is down now. . . ' I stated to myself as a small hint of relief washed over me. My hand brushed away some of the black locks from his eyes. . . then it suddenly trailed down to his cheek. . . 'His face. . . ' I loudly thought in my mind. . . 'It looks so different when he sleeps. . .' Indeed he did. He didn't look like an angry and grumpy cat that would get all moody and annoyed with their owners whenever their majesties don't get acknowledged. I couldn't help but chuckle at that silly thought. And now that I think of it, it is kind of surprising how he didn't wake up under my touch and bite my hand off already. . .

Anyways, at this moment. . . he looked so much. . . calmer. . . peaceful. . . I had never seen this side of him before. . .

Shuichi is right, he is a puzzle. . . a real mystery. . .

He has a nasty attitude, but underneath it, there is indeed a good guy. . . well deep down, but still. . .

Suddenly, I became aware of myself, which made me catch my own actions. I pulled my hand away fast and I can feel my face burning up by the embarrassment I felt at the moment.

What am I doing? What's wrong with me?

I shook my head abruptly before storming out of the healer room as fast and as quietly as I can. I brought my hands up to my face and attempt to rub the embarrassment and nonsense off of me.

'What. . .what the hell was I thinking back there? Why am I like this whenever I am around Hiei. . . ?' I questioned myself as I walked to the kitchen area at an incredibly slow pace, still too stunned by my own freaking actions.

"Morning Sleepyhead!" The kind Ruby's sudden greeting ripped me out of my thoughts. After a small pause later I nodded my head, still in a daze, and walked toward the table and began to eat the breakfast that was already prepared for everyone who is currently in the temple. "Are you okay?" Asked my friend as she took a seat next to me. Again, I only nodded my head mutely as my chop-sticks digs into the food. However, when I turned my gaze toward my water-bending partner's look on her face I just sighed and turned my head away, still feeling awkward by my stupid actions. "What's wrong?" Ruby asked with more concern, then unexpectedly I felt her hand being placed onto my forehead. "Are you still sick or something? You kind of look a little red now." God, I hated being seen like this in front of people. . . Sucking in a deep breath I placed my fork down.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to talk about this. . . with someone. . . again. . .Well, I managed to open up to Hiei. . . talk about something that had been haunting me for years. . .Maybe it wouldn't hurt if I tell this to Ruby. . . No. . . I can't. . . or should I. . . ?

"It's. . . It's kind of dumb. . . ." I hesitantly answered, still not daring to meet her eyes. As expected, I hear the other teen girl chuckle at my somewhat shy and sheepish behaviour.

"Come on now." She insisted on the matter as she scooted closer and wrapped her arm around my shoulders, bringing me closet to her. "You can tell your partner in crime." At that I playfully rolled my eyes at her, but then the mood falls back to shyness.

"Maybe later. . ." I finally answered as I continued on eating a little.

"Naawh, you're no fun." My 'partner in crime' whined before going back to her breakfast. When I finished I helped Ruby wash the dishes, only to sometimes end up splashing each other with our water-bending powers. I again didn't show anything on the surface but inside, I had fun. . . It's so weird nowadays to like to open up my emotions to others. . . it was strange in many ways. . . but it also felt. . . nice. . . After the little 'bath' I walked out of the temple and walked outside where I can enjoy the beautiful view of the land in front of me. I inhaled through my nose as my eye closed and let myself be pampered by the warm breeze that is caressing my skin.

"Enjoying the view?" A voice asked behind me. I didn't even bother to turn around because I would recognize Genkai's sassy voice anywhere.

"Hn." I hummed out with no emotion in it. "Might as well enjoy it while I still can." I replied truthfully but my tone turned back to its usual monotone state.

"There is no need to hide your true feelings little one." The old lady advised me with a gentle tone. I remained silent as I tried to take the beauty of the land in front of me. "Why are you really here Miyuki?" Genkai asked me.

"Thinking." I told her, now a little more polite and soft way. "As for my emotions. . . I. . . I feel a little confused at the moment. . . "

"Is it because of that shrimp boy?" The question took me off guard, making me snap my head toward my master, feeling a little bit shocked. Am I being that obvious? "Oh quit playing dumb, even my blind sister can see it when a person is in love with someone. She said your heart was racing like crazy last night, making her almost think that you will get a heartattack." Genkai let out a small and amused chuckle before her expression hardens into a serious one with the mixture of. . . sadness. . . "And you should accept this feeling while you still have a chance. . ." She continued on. "You're a great kid Miyuki. Sure a little stubborn and sometimes a slowpoke, but you're a great pupil to work with unlike that jackass of a brother you have." Then she let out an exasperated sigh. "I know you are scared of openly sharing your happiness with others again, but sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and face it. Like I said before, enjoy it while you still can. . . and before it's too late. . . "

"Why are you telling me this master?" I asked her in a small and soft voice only to receive another small sigh from my mentor figure.

"When I was young I had someone in my life." Genkai started as the wind picked on her greyish-pink hair, making them dance in the air. "He was an honourable man and a great partner to fight alongside with. After some time later we opened a dojo together and trained many promising students there for the future generations. But our idyllic life was cut short by Kairen. A demon who killed our young scholars, just because he wanted the two of us to participate in the Dark Tournament. At first, I refused the invitation, but. . . . Seeing no other choice I had to accept it. . . Same went to my sister, and my partner who disappeared for three whole months right after he said 'yes'. " Then there was a small pause which made me look at Master Genkai who took a small breath for herself. Even though she held a brave face, I can tell that she was in agony by just looking into her eyes or feel her heartbeat with the help of my bare feet. "When the day of the tournament came, he came back as a changed man. . . But not in the way as many good people would think. The moment I looked at him, I knew he was not the man I once loved and cared about. He killed Kairen in the final round and when we won the tournament, he sold his soul for the sake of keeping his power and youth. . . " She let out a small scoff as her expression turned into a sour scowl. But then she turned to my direction, looking into my eyes that were now soft and held kindness. "A part of you reminded me of him because he thought emotions are nothing more than distractions. Don't shut them out because you're afraid of getting hurt again. Instead of running away, face them, and fight like a true warrior. And maybe in that way. . . you can finally reborn into the phoenix you once were. " With that she walked away, leaving me all alone once more and now thinking deeply about the things that my master had said.

Maybe she is right. . .

I should probably try to feel again. . . Embrace my emotions. . . It will be a long run but. . . I will try. . . And that's probably what Sanyu wants me to do. . . But I was so caught up in my own thoughts and emotions. . . and now he is probably scolding at me from the heavens for this. . .

Baby steps Miyuki. . . Baby steps. . .

This conversation really helped me and probably set me on the right path to heal. . . Not only that it finally gave me a conclusion. . .

I care about Hiei. . . Sure I care about the others as well deeply. . . but Hiei's was different. . . He was the one that triggered my emotions in the first place. . .

The demon boy. . . who made me. . . fall for him . . .

While thinking, Miyuki's legs carried her down the stairs that would lead her to the pond, where Master Yara and Ruby would usually take her to train. However, while the female Spirit Detective was making her way over the spot to clear her mind, even more, a figure under the tree shadows was stalking her with a sadistic smile slowly creeping upon his face.
