Remus sat in front of the imposing goblin's desk, his wolf alert and fidgety. The goblin sat scribbling with its quill and hadn't looked up, not since asking him to sit and wait for the "Lady" to arrive.
He tugged at his fraying sleeves and swallowed, his tongue heavy. His gullet craving liquid dark chocolate which only made him more shaky. It was a couple of nights after a full moon, when he received the missive from Gringotts requesting his presence. It wasn't the first one he'd gotten, but this time it mentioned his goddaughter.
"Do you know where she is? Carina?"
The goblin barely even moved an eyebrow, but the door behind him opened and shut as a cloaked figure slipped into the room. Shifting from once a tall height to a shorter one before bringing down the hood to show a pair of familiar ocean blue eyes.
"Hello, Moony."
His wolf was suspicious, he'd seen her shift. Even as he wished to gather her in his arms.
"How did you find out about my secret?"
She smiled, "I read about it. When you were tucking me in that night, I asked if I could meet your wolf." She laughed her blue eyes sparkling, "You almost denied it but then I asked if I was part of your pack like Papa was."
Remus sat back and nodded but she didn't stop, her face turned sad.
"You stopped coming though. I thought it was because I snuck out and cuddled with your wolf that one night."
His eyes flashed as his wolf rose up a rumbling in his chest. Before Remus took control and shook his head, "I was sent away on a job. I'm sorry you thought it was your fault."
Her eyes glinted for a moment and a sharp look passed through her features, "I see." She walked further into the room, "Did you tell anyone else you were coming here?"
Remus shook his head, "I activated the portkey in the letter as soon as I read it."
Carina's eyes peered into his as if searching for something and as if finding it nodded.
"Your mother is worried sick."
Her eyes flashed with something, "I could not tell her anything."
Remus watched and his wolf's instincts could sense something different with his goddaughter. Of course, there was always something wise in her eyes. However, now it was even more evident and the power that seemed to come naturally to her as a babe seemed to radiate from her now.
"But you can tell me something? Why?"
Her form seemed to relax a little bit and the child he remembered came back in pieces. He hadn't seen her since she was barely four. Always cloistered in the library, her little button nose stuck in some large tome larger than herself.
"You've always seen me as I am. You are like Peter."
She smiled as she watched him bristle. Her eyes crinkled at the sides as she saw him tense at the mention of the cowardly rat who hid his true self.
"Peter's been my family from the start and I believe you have been too." She let out a little sigh, "So I think it's time you are released as a pawn just like I did for him."
Carina turned toward the goblin, "Do you have the full gamut of tests, Sir Gozold?"
The goblin nodded before sliding a roll of parchment forward, placing a paperweight of either corner before instructructing, "Slice your palm for 12 seconds, no more and no less."
"Moony, please, it's for the best."
There was a buzz in his ears and he could hear himself saying, "I don't know what you think you'll find. I already know my heritage." However, he stepped forward nonetheless and did as instructed if all else to put his little pup at ease. As soon as the drops fell upon the parchment and his hand was healed, the paper shone silver like moonlight before growing until the parchment was rolling down the side of the table and toward the door. He gulped as his stomach sunk in dread.
"What were the other tests?"
His eyes were still on the parchment rolls that had only stopped growing once they rolled around the corners of the room.
"Full inheritance test, magical inheritance, health, compulsions, memory charms or changes, potions affecting the system, magical blocks. The full gambit."
A look of dread came over his features, "Carina?"
She stepped closer and took his hands in hers. He marveled at how small they still were.
"I need to make sure you are safe before telling you anything. I need to make sure you are not being manipulated by anyone."
Remus looked at the long parchment that stretched from the goblin's desk and around the room. "Could I have some hot chocolate, please?"
It was a blur in the background as the hot chocolate was set in his hands because soon he was reading his results and none of it made sense. He dropped it into his lap and drank heavily of the hot steaming liquid despite it burning a pathway down his throat. Everything he thought of his life was thrown completely out of balance the further he read. His hands shook as he passed the inheritance test section to Carina when in the blur of everything he heard her ask for it. He barely registered what happened next as his world was even further thrown off its axis.
~Perspective Shift~
Carina knew that Remus must have had some compulsions in his system but when the parchment had continued to grow and grow she felt sick to her stomach. She worried for him then. She worried for how it would affect his heart and his faith in what he believed in. However that was all forgotten in the moment when she took his inheritance test in hand.

"Oh shit!" Carina jumped up as soon as she finished reading the results. "Shit, shit, shit."
"Carina!" Remus's eyes were wide and reddened in the corners, no doubt from the other crap he'd read.
"Don't you understand what this means!" She shook the paper. His eyes were wide and she shook her head, "Other than the obvious Fenrir part?"
"What does it mean?" Remus looked like he was getting worried as he watched her start to pace in front of the desk.
"I don't have to just worry about the HP canon timeline. No! I have to also worry about the shit-storm that is to come with Marvel. Stinkin Marvel with the aliens and the…"
Carina, aka Rikki, could feel her magic rising as she nearly shouted for Death to come to her and she didn't care that Remus jumped to his feet when she did. She was mad. She was freaking raging.
"Yes, Carina." The cloaked figure bowed his head as if nothing was wrong, as if he didn't know exactly why she was upset.
"So exactly when were you going to tell me that this world…" She waved her hands in the air, "was smack dab in a mixing pot with the Marvel-verse?"
The tilt of the cloaked hood almost screamed a condescending smile, "I thought you didn't care about saving the world, as long as you protected those you've declared to be your own and were free to swim wherever you liked?"
The girl let out an exaggerated yell, her crimson hair floating around her like an angry fuzzy cloud, "And how will mine be safe if aliens are dropping spaceships down everywhere and then snapping away half the population?"
"Carina?" Remus's hesitant voice started up from behind her but faded as her whole body turned and his eyes widened as he saw her power made her eyes glow.
However, seeing his eyes and rigid posture seemed to click something in her brain. She could feel herself calming. The rage settling along with her magic and her eyes and hair went back to normal.
A plan began forming in her mind. Turning back to Death, "Can I summon anyone else into the In-Between, say in a dream?"

A/N: Question dear readers: Should I keep H2O as my crossover or change it to something Marvel related? Going forward there will be quite a few characters from the films. Rikki of course remains our MC.
