Chapter 6

"All right, thanks Brainy. I'll let you know when I'm on my way back to National City," Kara got off her phone. She and Kate had been having lunch down in the bar and discussing their options when the Coulan called. The brunette was behind the bar while Kara was sitting on a stool on the other side of it. Kate had whipped up some sandwiches and French fries.

"What does Brainy have to say?" The brunette asked.

"Late yesterday, they might have found a lead on Andrea. They've called in a few favors over at the FBI to help them possibly catch her," the blonde explained.

"Why the FBI? I would think Papa Bear and M'gann could handle her," Kate was confused. She had used her new nickname for J'onn and it made Kara smirk.

"The arrest cannot have any touch of DEO, given Andrea's connection to Lex and his current predicament. Technically, the crimes had to be turned over from NCPD to the FBI, since usually they would handle all larceny charges. So, the FBI had to get warrants for the spaces they wanted to look at while J'onn and M'gann were surveilling the location. Now that Lex's case has gone federal and possibly international, the FBI wanted things to be completely above board," Kara told her.

"So, they're assuming that J'onn and M'gann would not play by the rules?" Kate raised an eyebrow.

"They're vigilantes now. No longer are they sanctioned helpers of law enforcement since the DEO's reputation has been soiled. Alex and Kelly are trying to see if NCPD would take the Super Friends on as consultants," the blonde heaved a sigh. Kara had almost always had backing from a legal organization. While the DEO gave her and the Super Friends carte blanche, the NCPD would not have that kind of luxury.

"Welcome to the dark side. We have cookies," Kate teased. That made Kara chuckle. They were interrupted by the sound of keys in the front door. Once it was open, in walked an Asian woman about Kate's age.

"Mary! Is everything ok?" Kate was not expecting her half-sister.

"I should say the same to you! Dad said you had a little trouble last night," Mary said.

"We're fine. Though I haven't heard much on why Alice's goons were out to get us," the brunette explained.

"Yes, your father hasn't called. I kind of thought he would," Kara admitted.

"Geez, where are my manners? Kara, this is my sister Mary. Mary, this is Kara, CatCo.'s finest. She's here to interview me and then got caught up in Alice's little stunt," Kate performed the introductions.

"Nice to meet you. You're interviewing Kate?" Mary sounded surprised.

"Well technically, she saved my job, along with quite a few others, by helping out CatCo. when Andrea went rogue. So, I figured a full piece about her would help the world understand just who this Wayne Enterprises owner is," Kara explained.

"I honestly have no idea when she finds the time to sleep. If you find out, let me know," Mary smirked.

"I'll keep you posted. Should we go and see if your father would be willing to give his children some answers?" The blonde wondered. Kate seemed to be debating whether or not to call him when her phone rang. She quickly picked it up to discover it was Luke on the other end.

"It would seem that I'm needed elsewhere. Real estate issue," Kate said. Kara had heard the entire conversation and it was more like a Batwoman issue. It would be risky handling it in broad daylight but it would seem that a lead on Alice was important than what time of day it was.

"I can hang out with Kara while you're gone," Mary smiled. Kate gave Kara a look and then said,

"I have a better idea. I need both of you to come with me to Wayne Enterprises."

"You sure?" Mary was confused but Kara was having a tough time hiding her excitement.

"Yes, I really am. Come on," Kate smiled back and the three of them quickly headed out to Mary's car.
