A/N: Sorry this is so late. I have been dealing with some medical stuff and it kind of consumed the entire last week. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 9

"Well, we made the news," Kate smirked. The two heroes had returned to the BatCave after their successful round up of some of Alice's goons. They had been unable to determine at the site what they had been after since that particular section of the industrial park was actually occupied by currently operating businesses.

"That we did. I'm sure that will rile up the crowd back home as well. Still with J'onn and M'gann watching the city, I'm sure National City is in good hands," Kara smiled.

"Your phone went off while you were gone," Mary handed the blonde her cell phone. Kara thanked her and quickly checked to see what the message was.

"I hope you didn't speak too soon," Kate said. She'd pulled off her cowl and hung it up before heading off to get out of the suit. Kara absentmindedly nodded before listening to the voicemail. It was Alex. She promised to keep her sister updated at the end of her message.

"So, what's the scoop?" Kate asked, walking back over to her, rubbing a towel over her neck and face. That suit really made her sweat, especially in the middle of the day.

"Andrea has been captured but she's in a bad way. Apparently, those fingers she lost caused an infection. Brainy is attempting to save her arm," Kara explained before setting her phone down onto a nearby console and changing out of her uniform.

"That sounds really bad," Luke spoke up from his spot in front of the Bat Computer.

"I would have thought your freeze breath would have basically cauterized the wound in some way," Kate wasn't really sure how that all worked.

"It caused frostbite which can lead to major infections if not treated properly. Though given the fact that they were severed, one would have thought that maybe that wouldn't be the case. Alex didn't have all the details. At any rate, she did say that NCPD is more than happy to take on the Super Friends as consultants," the blonde told her.

"That's awesome. I don't ever expect that to happen here. The GCPD has been stepped on by the Crows already, adding a vigilante, probably not high on their radar," the brunette frowned.

"Why don't we narrow down what Alice could be after? That might help," Luke said.

"Yes, that would be good. The plant which her masked accomplices were trying to invade makes chemicals – as you can tell by their name, Ace Chemical. I cannot see what she'd be up to with those. It's never been her style before," Kate explained.

"Could she be after some sort of machinery?" Mary wondered.

"We wondered about that, but it seems like an odd heist for the middle of the day," Kara said.

"Alice might be crazy, but she isn't stupid. To go into the building in the middle of the day, it had to be something she could only get her hands on, at this particular time," Luke frowned and swiveled his chair back around to face the Bat Computer. He began tapping on the keyboard.

"A person perhaps?" Kate asked.

"My thoughts exactly. I ran a quick search for Ace Chemical but the only thing that popped was that the CEO, Marvin Delacroix, was going to do a plant tour today before a meeting with the chemical engineering department at Gotham University," Luke told them. Something still didn't sit right with Kate. Alice could be after the CEO, her face replacing abilities would allow someone to take his place but why? What was her twin up to?

"How do we warn his security team? I would assume he has one," Mary said.

"I'm not sure that he does. Although striking at Gotham University would have been harder. They would have campus security leading Delacroix around and making sure that he was looked after. Also, unless you know where the chemical engineering building is, I bet it's hard to find. At Ace Chemical, probably no security, other than what they'd usually have," Kate figured.

"I'll call it in," Luke said. Kara had a look of confusion on her face. Who would Luke be calling? Kate smirked and quickly leaned over explaining that Luke would call Sophie over at the Crows. She was their inside woman that had the ear of Kate's father, Jacob.

"Ok. We need to dive a little deeper on just what Ace Chemical makes and what the CEO could do for Alice. There is something we're missing," Kate spoke up after Luke got off the phone.

"I agree but you're going to be late for your dinner with your dad if you don't go home and shower," Luke pointed out.

"Crap," Kate didn't realize what time it was.

"I'll head over to their place now, so we don't arrive at the same time and try to cover for you," Mary said.

"I appreciate it," Kate smiled, and she ran for the elevator. Mary was right behind her.

"I'll stay and help Luke. That way if we find something I can go snooping while you're at dinner," Kara offered.

"You sure?" Kate asked, stopping short of the elevator.

"Absolutely. Besides, if I keep showing up wherever you are, your dad might get suspicious," the blonde said. Kate nodded before quickly hopping into the elevator with Mary.

"So, Kara Danvers is Supergirl," Luke said once they were alone.

"If you can keep Kate's secret, I don't see why you can't keep mine. Besides, you can give me some insight for my article on Kate," Kara smirked.

"You're writing about her again?" He asked.

"Well, I'm writing about her and her day job. I already covered her night job," Kara winked.
