Chapter 16

Kate watched partly in horror and partly in fascination as suddenly the bomb was launched into the air and Kara's heat vision blew it up. Alice's eyes were wide and she just stood there.

"How did you…" the evil blonde started.

"I'm Supergirl," Kara smirked as Kate ran up to them.

"So, you want to run by me how Tommy managed to get a bomb vest on you? Since when did he learn to make bombs?" The brunette asked.

"Your guess is as good as mine. All I know is the last thing I remember is teasing him about how he'd never be Bruce," Alice shrugged. Kara looked at her friend and could see her frowning.

"All right, well you can tell the whole story to the Crows and the judge," Kate said, slapping cuffs on her sister.

"Do you really think that you can arrest me and have me not squeal your secret dear sister?" The evil blonde asked.

"I think I have a solution for that and it includes a very deep, very dark hole. Oh, and lots of ARGUS agents," Kara smirked. Alice knew she couldn't run with Supergirl standing there and the cuffs on her wrists.

"How are you going to catch Tommy without me?" The psychopath wanted to know.

"Oh, we'll figure it out," Kate told her.

"He double crossed you. I would think you'd want a piece of him," Kara tried a different tack and her friend gave her a look.

"I definitely want a piece of him. After I all I did for him," Alice said.

"All right then we'll make a deal. I'll hold off calling ARGUS for a little while longer if you take us to your hideout. Most of the men in bunny masks have probably either been captured or are dead so I can imagine things are not so well protected," the Kryptonian figured.

"Why would I take you to my hideout? Tommy isn't that bright but that would be the last place he'd be. I mean…" the evil blonde was cut off by her sister.

"Yes, but this whole thing was orchestrated without your help – you said so yourself. The bunnies have turned to the guy who is going to pay them and that is Tommy and whoever else he's gotten involved. They aren't going to throw away a perfectly good hideout if they think you're dead," Kate said.

"Ungrateful worms," Alice spat.

"Obviously. There is one thing we need to know though before we leave – why did you kill Mouse?" Kate wanted to know. This was the first time that Kara saw the woman show any kind of emotion other than rage and defiance.

"He wanted to leave Gotham. Start somewhere fresh. I had too much unfinished business and he was going to stand in my way," there was a sad strange way about how she'd referred to the man she'd seen as her only friend and confidante.

"He was just as messed up as you are and the one time he makes a decent suggestion…" Kate shook her head before turning around and heading for the place where she stashed the Bat Cycle.

"All right. Take us to your hideout," Kara said, thinking she was going to be sick, as she grabbed Alice's shoulder. She was beginning to realize that while she had plenty of problems in National City, Gotham's problems were much darker than her own.

"Are we going to walk all the way there? It's not exactly close," the evil blonde said.

"No, we're going to fly and Batwoman will be following," Kara smirked and launched the two of them into the sky. Alice let out a shriek before the Kryptonian promised not to drop her as they hovered above campus. The psychopath gave her directions toward the hideout and the two were off with Kate not far behind.

Meanwhile, in National City, Brainy, Lena, and Sandy had managed to replicate their experiment and now it was time to test it on the patient. Lena had been unsure of letting Sandy into the DEO, mostly because her assistant didn't have Super Friend status. Brainy waived it off as the woman had helped them and he could definitely sway Agent Smith to let her in. With that out of the way, the three, along with Doctor Rodgers, stood next to Lillian's stasis chamber.

"Are we ready?" Brainy asked. Basically, he was asking because if for some reason something still went wrong, there would be no coming back for Lillian.

"We don't have a choice. There isn't anything else we've come up with and the longer we wait, the worse things will get," Lena pointed out.

"How are you retrieving the nanites?" Doctor Rodgers wanted to know.

"We activate the code in their tiny little bodies and they will head back to the injection site, where we will remove them using a special magnetic needle so none of them get left behind," Sandy explained.

"Sounds very interesting. I hope that this works," Rodgers said. Lena looked at Brainy and the Coulan took the first needle full of specially coated nanites and injected them into the IV that Doctor Rodgers had set up.

"How do we know that it is working?" The doctor asked.

"We'll see physical reactions like her skin returning to normal color and her weight will go down. The statis chamber records all data about her so we'll be able to watch what happens from the screen," Brainy said as he injected more nanites into the IV. The group figured they would start with three injections and see if more were required.

"Then let's hope we see results soon," Doctor Rodgers smiled slightly. He was just as nervous as the rest of them, but he knew that they weren't rushing into anything and that their options were limited. Now that the third injection has been performed, they all held their breath and waited for the results.
