Chapter 24

"So, what do you think?" Brainy asked Lena. He'd taken a blood sample from Lillian and stuck it under the microscope the next morning at the temporary DEO territory. Alex was busy talking to Billy about something but the two were more focused on Lillian and possibly sharing their solution with ARGUS.

"I think I'm looking at a perfectly healthy blood sample," Lena said.

"Exactly, so I set the stasis machine to begin it's slow back down. This will bring her to consciousness. None of the scans showed anything and this process will take a little over a day," he said.

"I thought Doctor Rodgers wanted to wait a few more days," the raven-haired woman raised an eyebrow.

"He did but the numbers support this attempt. I'm not throwing the switch for an immediate wake up so if anything starts going sideways, we will immediately be notified, and I can send her back into full stasis," the Coulan explained.

"Ah well, I appreciate the excitement, but I don't want to chance it," Lena said.

"This is literally the slowest way we can do this. I wouldn't attempt this if I thought it would put your mother in any danger," Brainy told her. Lena heaved a sigh; she knew that Brainy wouldn't do anything risky unless he absolutely had to.

"All right, but at the first sign of any trouble…" she pointed at him.

"Absolutely, I'll not leave her side," he said. That's when they heard Alex raise her voice and the two turned their attention to the redhead.

"What has she gotten herself into?!" the two friends rushed over to the computer and their friend.

"What's going on?" Lena wanted to know.

"Last night, Kara called. She wanted me to look into The Many Arms of Death. Turns out, it's a lot worse than I thought," Alex said. She didn't like her sister not having the Super Friends there for backup. Meanwhile, Brainy was looking at the screen and what Billy had pulled up. The terror organization was wanted all over the world and had accumulated Red Notices from Interpol and made the FBI's most wanted list.

"It definitely seems like she and Batwoman have stepped into it. Why would The Many Arms of Death be in Gotham?" He asked.

"That she didn't get into," Alex heaved a sigh.

"Did she ask for help?" Lena wondered.

"No, she said we were both busy and she and Batwoman would handle it," the redhead said.

"Well, that sounds like her," Brainy frowned. Alex pulled her cell phone out of her back pocket and quickly dialed a number. Walking away from the group, she wanted the call to be private.

"She's calling him, isn't she? Isn't he a tad busy?" Lena looked at Brainy, figuring the person on the other end of the line was busy babysitting the prison where her brother was being kept.

"Oh, I think she is and I don't know. I'd better call Nia," he said, pulling his own phone out. Lena nodded and let him make his phone call. Alex was walking back over to them almost as quickly as she left.

"He said he'd check in with her, but he can't leave Metropolis right now. The whole Lex business had left him with some messes to clean up," Alex heaved a sigh.

"Nia is ready, willing, and able," Brainy announced once he was off his call a few moments later.

"How can she leave work?" Alex didn't want her friend to lose her job.

"She says she's got it covered," the Coulan shrugged.

"Then she's not going alone," Alex said. It was off to Gotham to help her sister.
