A/N: Sorry this is late everyone. Things have been crazy at work and I've not had time for writing. However, things are looking up to get back on schedule. ;) Thanks!

Chapter 25

"Anything on the scanners?" Kara asked Luke. They were waiting for Kate to get back from her early afternoon board meeting at Wayne Enterprises. There was a development in the CatCo./Obsidian North situation and the brunette had to handle it.

"Not since the last time you asked, two minutes ago," he said. Mary was off at the clinic she secretly ran, so it was just the two of them in the BatCave.

"Sorry. The waiting has never been my favorite part," the blonde admitted.

"I have to admit the relative quiet during the day in the city can be deceiving. Though I would have thought your presence would have scared off our terrorist friends," Luke told her without looking away from the main Bat Computer screen.

"The guy, who took pot shots at me, didn't seem to know who I was. He seemed surprised that I was able to withstand his barrage," Kara said.

"Well given that they usually operate in the shadows, maybe they thought those stories about you being bulletproof were propaganda of sorts," Luke said, this time turning around.

"Maybe… has Sophie reached out?" She wondered.

"The Feds are all over her and the Crows. The guy that they'd managed to stop from killing himself is no longer in their custody," he frowned.

"When did that happen? How'd the Feds find out?" Kara was confused.

"While you guys were at your meeting with Jacob. I didn't pick up my phone right away and found the message after Kate went to her board meeting. As for the Feds, my guess is that your presence here brought ARGUS to our little corner of the world," Luke said. That's when Kara's phone rang and she excused herself for a second.

"Hey Alex, everything ok?" Kara wanted to know, seeing her sister's number pop up on the phone.

"Where are you?" The redhead asked.

"With Luke… why?" The Kryptonian was confused as to why that mattered.

"Meet us at the Holiday Inn, near the airport," Alex said.

"Us?" Kara asked.

"Nia is with me," her sister's responses were short and that raised some eyebrows for her as well.

"Give me the address," the blonde told her. The address was quickly exchanged and Kara then asked Luke if she could borrow the SUV. This would allow him to keep an eye on any activity in the city.

"You can take it. Don't bring them back here. Take them to Kate's office upstairs. I'll text her so she can make her own decision about more people in the Cave," he said, tossing her the keys from the surface the Bat Computer rested on. Since it was like its own supercomputer, the machine that made the BatCave hum, weighed quite a bit.

"Understood. Probably best we meet up there anyway. I'm not sure why Alex and Nia came all this way…" Kara was unsure, especially since her sister's answers were so short. Of course, it could have been the fact that they were communicating on an unsecured line. No one here in Gotham would have known who they were so she couldn't see it being something untoward, especially since Alex would have used code to help Kara figure out there was something up.

"I'll monitor your progress. Make sure you aren't followed," Luke told her.

"You think we will be?" Kara stopped in her tracks as she headed down the walkway and the special elevator. She had to take it back to Kate's office and then take the regular elevators to the parking garage beneath Wayne Enterprises. It wasn't terribly efficient, but the regular looking SUV couldn't be seen coming out of the path from the BatCave either. It was a perk that Kate fought crime at night. In the dark, the path was less noticeable and it was easier to get her motorcycle onto the road.

"It's Kate's SUV. If they tracked us from the airport to pick you up…" Luke let the thought hang there.

"Good point. I'll call you once I have them in the car and we're on our way back," Kara said.

"All right. I'll wait for the call," Luke smiled and the blonde smiled back before she headed off to pick up her sister and friend.
