Chapter 35

"Did you round them all up?" Kate asked her friends the second they got off the plane. It was almost two am by the time they had arrived in Gotham and other than them, the airport was pretty quiet. Most of Gotham was at this time of night unless the average citizen was down in the party district. It was an area of the city, where staying up late was a way of life, and not just on weekends. Luke and Mary had met them at the airport to give them a ride back to Kate's apartment.

"Well, we had a little help… Kara might know something about that," Luke raised an eyebrow.

"Phoned a friend huh?" Kate couldn't help but chuckle.

"I knew we wouldn't get back in time and we couldn't exactly blow my cover," the blonde smirked.

"They were not able to locate Tatiana," Mary explained as they headed for the SUV.

"Her men were rounded up and the guard on Alice doubled but I'm willing to bet that Tatiana doesn't come looking for her by herself," Luke said.

"Not unless she has a death wish. Safiyah promised to call her back to Coryana but if she goes…" Kate just shrugged. The group climbed into the SUV and headed back toward the city. Luke was driving, while Mary was in the front passenger seat, with the two heroes in the back seat with their small pieces of luggage.

"Where are Alex and Nia?" Kara wanted to know.

"They're at their hotel, sleeping. It was a long day," Mary said.

"Oh, I know. I just wanted to be sure they were safe," the blonde said. Mary nodded, she understood where her new friend was coming from.

"I think we all need a little shuteye and then we can figure out what to do about Tatiana in the morning. Who took custody of her men?" Kate wanted to know.

"ARGUS did. Turns out the reason they showed up in the first place was because once Supergirl showed up in Gotham, someone was worried there was something alien afoot in the city. Considering their facilities, they stayed to help round up the Many Arms of Death. They're definitely worried that Safiyah would try and get her hands on Wayne Enterprises' high-tech weapons," Luke explained as he drove toward the apartment.

"Did Alex know who the agents were?" Kara remembered that her sister hadn't heard of any ARGUS activity in Gotham through her contacts.

"She didn't say anything and mostly let Superman do all the talking. He might have known a few of them," Mary told them. Kara nodded. It was quite possible that since he wasn't sure he'd be able to step in, if needed, that he sent ARGUS for backup. She'd talk to him later.

"Besides, we have bigger problems," Luke said as he parked the vehicle outside Kate's place.

"Bigger problems than Tatiana?" Kara was not sure what that could be.

"Your dad called me today. I'm pretty sure he thinks I know your secret and isn't telling him," Luke told Kate after he turned around in the driver's seat to look her in the eyes.

"Oh joy," Kate heaved a sigh.

"Did he tell you want he wanted?" Kara asked.

"He wondered why Kate wasn't answering her phone. My lame excuse of you were busy… well, he wasn't buying it," Luke admitted. Kate forced air through her teeth.

"I'll deal with him later," with that the brunette climbed out of the vehicle, grabbing her bag. Kara thanked the two and grabbed her bag before running after her friend. Kate wasn't going to be able to put her dad off forever. The blonde only hoped that she could help her through it.
