Chapter 2 - Phantom Lady, Rumor Or Real?

In the first chapter, the main heroine Helene Porter was been assigned to Walnut Grove town for her new teaching. She was been reunited with Laura, who was married to Almanzo Wilder and also, she invited her to her family dinner tonight at her old home. That night, she was been introduced to her parents, her siblings and her in laws. But when Laura was introduced her foster adopted brother Albert to Helene, was been surprised that he have the same resemblance as her previous lover Mercious, in which Laura was started to getting curious about her. The next morning, Helene was been introduced to the class as the temporary substitute teacher. After the class, Helene tells Albert that she was very impressed of his performance in class in which she asked him if he was willing to trained by hers. Albert was agreed but he needs to asked his Pa first for a permission. Somehow, their hearts were started to getting pounded as they were getting acted as close friends. But unbeknownst to Albert, a mysterious stranger was secretly watching at him from the farther distance, hatching an evil plan.

Will their love relationship will started to getting to developed a little bit? And who was the mysterious stranger who had laid eyes on Albert?

That night, Helene was busily wrote some of the new lessons for tomorrow. Somehow while she was writing, she looked at the picture of hers and Mercious in a small picture frame that it was placed on her desk. But it was shortly interrupted when Tommy peeks in.

" Hey, Helene. What are you looking at? Cannot able to move on from the past, eh? " with embarrassment on his face

" Will you mind, Tommy? I'm still busy here. "

" busy, huh? And why you are keeping looked at the picture of that Mercious guy? Let me guess, you missed him so much, aren't you? "

" Yeah, seems so.. " nodded her head a little, with a little sadness on her face

" So, how was your relationship with Mr Albert Ingalls anyway? " in his normal tone voice manner

" Seems fine and besides, he performed his best in the entire class. His ambition is to become a professional doctor in the near future. "

" I see about it. Well..

" But somehow when I see or talk to him face to face, he have the same resemblance as Mercious does. I had been felt that I was started to fell in love once again.. " with smiling expression on her face

" Ha?! Are you kidding me, Helene my friend? There is no way that Mr Albert was looked like Mercious. He was just fourteen years old. "

" Age and status doesn't matter to me. Only I can do is to fall in love once again, in order to cope my loneliness for the past years. "

" Huh? You were saying that you fall in love to Mr Albert Ingalls from the very start? Well, if that was your choice then I have no objections. But if you did something badly to him, his father will never ever to forgive or to accept you that way, promise that? As your close best friend, I can do everything to protect your secret relationship with Mr Albert. "

" I will, Tommy. I will never do anything bad to him, I promise. " and she continues writing her new lessons

The next day, before she headed to school, she brought some things at the Oleson's Mercantile that it was near from the school. As she went in, she was surprised when she sees Charles Ingalls was talking to Nels Oleson, the owner.

" Mr Ingalls, good morning. "

" Oh, good morning too, Miss Porter. Are you gonna buy something? " turned his back, facing at her

" Sure "

" So.. are you the substitute teacher, I'm right? " Nels asked

" Yes, I am. My name is Helene Porter. It was a great pleasure to meet you. " she said in a formal manner

" You too, My name is Nels Oleson. Owner of this mercantile store. Actually, me and my wife Harriet were the in charge. " he introduced himself to her

Harriet enters in, holding some of the stuffs on the table, giving to Charles and she was surprised when she sees Helene in personal.

" Oh.. you must be Miss Helene Porter, I'm right? My name is Mrs Harriet Oleson. And also, I'm the current school president of Walnut Grove. "

" It was a great pleasure to meet you, Mrs Harriet. " Helene said

" So.. are you gonna buy something, my dear? There are lot of things that you wanted to choose with. " Harriet asked

" Um, two white boards and markers. I will gonna used it in the class. " Helene said in response

" Oh, I see about it. Coming right up. " Harriet said and she went out

While she was waiting for her order, Nels asked her " By the way, Miss Helene. "

" Yes, what is it, Mr Oleson? " she asked

" Have you heard the rumor about a mysterious entity known as the Phantom Lady? "

" No, but why? Who was this Phantom Lady anyway? I had never heard that ghost from before. "

" Is because that for the past few weeks ago in a nearby village in which the Phantom Lady was been secretly stalked and harassing young men in during nighttime. After the next day, they couldn't able to get out of their houses, feel traumatize of what happened to them. " Charles answered

" I see about it. But I don't think that the Phantom Lady could not be exist in everywhere. It was just only a normal superstition. " Helene stated

Harriet went back, holding the things that Helene ordered with, said in a casual manner " Actually, we people here in Walnut Grove were started to getting worried for our children's safeties including my younger son, Willie. He was too young to be attracted to a mysterious sadistic psychopath. "

" Oh, I had understood that. Each of us were getting worried for the safeties of the children. " Helene said

Harriet gave the things that she ordered. She pays 50 dollars and she walks out, carrying the stuffs.

" Come here at anytime, Miss Helene. Oh, and one more thing.. there was a restaurant nearby.. Miss Caroline was the in charge in there! " Harriet shouted

" I will " Helene replied and she left the store

Charles, was impressed of Helene's positive personality although he was not aware that she was started to be getting interested to his foster adopted son, Albert.

Later on, the class were having their own art creations made through recycle materials. While everyone were making, Helene was watching at Albert from afar, sat besides Willie. She smiled at him glancy, in which Albert smiled at her as well.

After the class, at the outside the boys were playing baseball game. But the game was interrupted when Helene went approached in.

" Hey, I guess Miss Porter wants to speak with you, Brother. " James said to Albert

" Alright, I'm coming. "

He went approached to her.

" So.. is there's anything that you needed with, Helene? Oh, and guess what I had tell my Pa last night about of what you had requested to me and he was totally agreed that you will gonna teached me after school.

" Do you really think so? Shall we eat at the restaurant over there, just the two of us? "

" Yep, of course " with smile on his face

But the two didn't know that the mysterious stranger was watching at them from afar, hiding in a tall tree, and her face was filled with jealousy with resentment.

At inside the restaurant that Caroline was the in charge, they eat beef steak and egg pie together on a one table together.

" I hope you were doing well that much, Miss Helene. " Caroline said, placed two glasses of juice at the table

" Of course it is, Mrs Ingalls. Oh, one more thing.. I should bring Albert to my place for some a little bit teaching styles. " Helene said to her

" That was sounds great. I guess Charles told about that last night. I hope you two will getting along with each other. " Caroline said, with a slight romantic expression on her face

" Ma, give me a break! She will just teaching me some of the new lessons and stuffs for tomorrow, okay? " Albert told, with a slight blush on his face

" I was just joking, son. " Caroline said, still with slight laughter and she turned her back and goes back to the kitchen

On the other table, her personal assistant, named Hester Sue, who was formerly a teacher in Mary's blind school. She was a black American.

She was sat, counting the receipts on the table, said in a casual manner " That was how Caroline's personality was it, Madam Porter. And besides, romance was always started as close friends. You knew it that, right? "

" Yes of course, Miss Hester Sue. But somehow, I don't want to let Albert to be embarrassed that much. I really wanted to improved his skills and talents. That's all. " Helene responded

" Why you two were have started to date yet? "

" Well.. uh... I guess I need to be more focused on teaching. I will gonna do the other stuffs if there is a lot of time. " Helene said, with a blush on her face while she was looking at Albert, speechless on his face

" I see about it. I will let you two will getting along with each other. " Hester Sue said to her

" Sure " Helene replied, with a smile on her face

And she looked at him, in which Albert smiled with a blush on his face. After that, the two went out of the restaurant. Somehow, the mysterious stranger, who wears a mask on her face, was kept watching at Helene and Albert walking with each other from the farther distance. When the masked stranger sees the two were laughing with each other, her facial expression was filled with jealousy and resentment.

Then, she walks away in a silent manner.

Later that night at her temporary home, Helene was started to teached Albert some of the new lessons in every subjects. As she teaches him, the two were started to developed attraction with each other.

After the teaching leisure, the two were eating dinner at the dining room. While eating, Helene asked in a request manner " Um, Albert. Can I asked you for one more thing? "

" Oh, sure. What is it? "

That very moment, she hold his other hand, tightly and makes him to be blushed in red.

" Will you mind that.. can you able to stayed with me in this house on Friday night? "

" Uh, but why? "

" Is because.. to tell you the whole thing that.. I like you, Albert.. for real. "

He was surprised of what she had said, in which his heart was pounding faster than ever and then he smiled in a loving manner.

" I like you too, Helene. "

At the outside of the window, the mysterious masked stranger, was secretly watching at them again, getting jealous towards to Helene than ever and she thinks that she " steals " Albert away from hers, claiming that he was her object for sexual pleasure.

After eating dinner, Albert says farewell to Helene.

" Be careful on your way home. "

" Sure thing, Helene. "

" And please, don't tell to your parents about this, okay? You have just tell to them that we going have a school training on Friday night. "

" I will "

Before he left, the two shared their first kiss and after that, he walks away, going to an another path in the forest.

During full moon on the night skies, Albert was continued walking on the way back to his home. But in a moment of sudden, someone covered his mouth with a handkerchief and then he felled consciousness on the ground, in which the masked stranger was smiled in an evil grin on her face, thinking that her plan was been successful, claimed that he was belongs to hers and no one else.

Two hours later, raining was started to poured down in every part of the town. Meanwhile at the farm house, Charles was standing at the front door, still waiting for Albert to come home even though it was still raining.

He was started to getting worried about his foster adopted son's safety.

Caroline, went out of the door, asked " What's wrong? "

" Albert hasn't come home yet. It was almost two hours already.. I guess there is something wrong with him.. " still with a little worried expression on his face

She was shocked of what he had said.

The relationship of Helene and Albert was started to getting closer to each other, but somehow a mysterious stranger, weared a mask, was trying to ruined their happy moments. And so, when Albert was walking on the way back to his home, the masked stranger had secretly abducted him, without being noticed by anyone else. She thinks that he was truly belongs to hers, as her own object for sexual pleasures.

Will Helene can able to find him? Will Albert can able to tell the whole thing of what was really happened to him to his foster family and even Helene as well? Will it could be the start of the exact love relationship of the two despite there is someone who will gonna try to ruined their relationship? Who is the secret identity of the Phantom Lady anyhow?
