DIO stood under his umbrella, hidden behind a large green bush. It was shortly past noon, and he was behind a busy restaurant that supposedly served Italian food. There, dining at one of the tables surrounded by women, he saw his prey. A man with a tattoo on his chin of the letters "H" and "S" and a tie around his neck spelling "Highway" and "Speed King".

During one of his short bouts of consciousness when he was but a simple blood-bound ghost, he had seen this man from a distance eating at this very same place. He had exchanged a few words with Josuke's friend Okuyasu, and as such... became DIO's first target.

For anyone else, immediately attacking someone after regaining a body would be a risky choice- For anyone other than DIO, that is. He had the utmost confidence in his abilities, and this time around he would win. They always say third time's a charm.

DIO watched through the window as the man sat in front of his food, not touching it at all. Rather, he was sniffing the air. The women around him looked confused but were not saying anything and continued eating. DIO held his breath, was this man's stand ability some sort of smell-related one? Has he been caught already? He shook his head and kept watching.

Yuya sat at the table, surrounded by his fangirls. He had just bought his food, but something was off. If he was right, he could smell that old guy that he'd seen hanging out with Josuke and Jotaro a lot… but he smelled different. Instead of the usual old man smell, he smelled a young man and lots of blood.

"I'm going, I'm not hungry anymore." He said, putting more than enough money on the table to pay for all of their food.

"Aw, but why?" One of his fangirls asked as he headed for the door.

He kept walking. "'Because'," He said snarkily, "That's why." He sniffed again, picking up the smell a bit stronger now. There was something about this scent that left a pit in his stomach… it was a smell he could only describe as that of a lion hunting a zebra. He climbed on his motorcycle and drove forward. Going home would be a horrible idea, their smell alone makes it clear they're a threat. His only option was to take him to the tunnel.

DIO weaved around and between buildings as he kept the motorcycle just within sight. The streets were busy, as it was the lunch rush, so he blended in with the crowds well even with his bloodstained umbrella. He followed diligently, being sure not to get too close as to cause his prey to see him but close enough to be sensed. He grinned, thinking of how the biker must be terrified. He doubted that Jotaro and the others had notified him of the situation just yet, so as far as this man knew, he must be being targeted randomly. He watched as the driver entered a tunnel and smirked. He could just cut him off at the other side. DIO went around to the other end of the tunnel and waited.

...and waited.

Five minutes passed.

Then ten.

...He wasn't coming out of the tunnel.

DIO stood at the end of the tunnel, twirling his umbrella in stress as he stared into the darkness. There certainly had to be a reason he wasn't leaving the tunnel. His stand must be suited to combat in closed spaces, DIO thought. He stepped back from the tunnel, his eyes widening in realization, perhaps the tunnel itself was his stand? He had hired users with stranger stands than that, so it certainly was possible. He shook his head, he had no choice but to enter the tunnel. If he waited too long, someone would drive down the tunnel and his prey could use that as his chance to escape. DIO walked down the dark path of the tunnel and closed his umbrella, his eyes quickly adjusting to the darkness. There was nothing but bricks and…

...a door?

DIO stopped, standing in front of a simple wooden door in the brick wall of the tunnel. Based on its appearance, it looked like one that'd lead to a house. This must be the stand, then. Opening the door normally must be how it is activated, he thought. The World appeared beside him, and punched through the door, causing it to fly off of its hinges into the room. DIO smirked as he took in the scene inside the room. There, beside a table with a horrified expression on his face, stood the teenage biker. DIO and his stand sauntered inside the room, towards his prey.

Suddenly, he heard a movement behind him and DIO stepped out of the way. A shape slammed itself into the bookshelf and knocked it over.

"A foot?" He muttered, then being hit by several more in the back before he could dodge. He growled, feeling the energy draining from his body by the second. The foot from the bookshelf launched itself back toward him. "Enough!" He shouted. Hermit Purple shot out, grabbing every foot and tossing them away.

The feet launched back at DIO and Yuya chuckled. "Highway Star has your scent, freak!" He yelled, "There's no getting away!" He grinned, of course now there was no way he could lose!

DIO scowled and ran out the door, he would have to retreat for now and formulate a plan. He looked back as he ran, a plopping sound repeating behind him. The feet behind him were quickly gaining on him. He sped up his run and bounded up onto the wall, but the stand was only a few feet behind him and gaining fast.

"This stand would be very useful against the Joestars…" He muttered to himself as he glanced back at the stand behind him. His legs began to burn as he sped up further still, he still had yet to adjust to his new body- even if he had full control it was of a different build than Jonathan's. Even with vampire powers, Joseph's body was not as fit as DIO would have liked.

"Fool shouldn't have let himself go," DIO muttered, continuing to run, "Wish I had gotten Jotaro's body instead, that would have been perfect." As all but pouted about this, an idea popped into his mind. He thought about when the Joestar party faced the Sun stand user he had sent to kill them. They were trapped because the stand was unable to be destroyed with what little power they had compared to it…

"...and so they went after the user." He muttered. He would take a page out of their book. He turned around to face the quickly approaching feet as he stopped running, landing on the floor on his feet like a cat. The stand came closer and closer, and he quickly leaped over them and started running with renewed vigor. He grinned as the door in the tunnel came into view again, and the stand continued following behind him.

He entered the room with the ripped-off door and Yuya stared at him in horror. Before the strange foot stand could approach him, he held up his finger.

"Ah ah ah, hold on a second. I have a proposition for you." DIO said, grinning at the terrified man.

"Wh-what?" Yuya shakily said, his stand stopping in place. This caught him off guard, this guy wasn't just going to kill him? He just wanted to talk? Yuya held his breath, something about this guy made him want to listen even if his guts told him to run. He certainly had charisma. "Go ahead…" He said.

"Your stand is very powerful, the sort of stand I need on my side." DIO started, stepping toward the scared biker. "My stand is powerful as well." He summoned the World behind him, who just crossed his arms and glared at Yuya.

Yuya stared the large yellow stand in the eyes as DIO continued. He could feel the power emanating from it. Why hadn't he used it against Highway Star?

"Don't you think it would be in our best interests to be… allies?" DIO asserted, brushing Joseph's brown hair out of his face, "My stand and yours, together… we would be unstoppable! What do you say?"

Yuya stared as the brunette held out his hand. ...Maybe he could make it out of this alive after all?

"...Yes." He said as he reached out to take DIO's hand.

Before he could take DIO's hand in his own, a strand of hair shot out of DIO's head and into his own. His chest constricted in pain as something embedded in his forehead, which somehow quickly faded and left him with nothing but a strange sense of happiness.

DIO grinned as the man toppled to the ground and the foot stand behind him dissipated.

"Excellent choice."
