DIO walked down the street, heading toward where Yuya stated all of the Joestars and friends were meeting. He didn't know why they were meeting up, but it was a good opportunity to spy on them.
Suddenly, he felt a tug on his pants. He looked down and saw a little boy with silver hair and a black tank top. DIO blinked a moment, this boy reminded him of Polnareff. The kid held his fist in his hand.
"Play janken with me!" The kid said, grinning.
DIO glared and turned away, heading down the street further. He was mere blocks away from the Joestars. Then, he felt it again, the same irritating tug on his pants. He quickly slapped the child's hand away, causing the kid to stumble backward and fall on his bottom.
DIO watched as the boy began to sniffle and then wail at full volume, causing every head on the street to snap over to stare at the scene. Shit. This kid was attracting attention.
"You hit me!" The kid whined, "That really hurt! My arm is broken!" He held his arm, which was clearly uninjured, and thrashed on the ground.
Passersby stared at DIO, most likely assuming him to be an abusive father of some sort. DIO swore, picking the kid up by the arm and pulling him to his feet. "Fine. I'll play." DIO growled, causing the kid to immediately stop crying. "Follow me, it's too crowded here for my liking." DIO dragged the kid along down the street, the boy barely able to keep up with his fast walking.
The two entered an alleyway and DIO stood next to a wall, setting the umbrella down as they were in the shade of the building beside them. "What are the rules of this?" DIO asked, folding his arms and leaning on the wall.
"If you lose, I get your stand!" Ken said, readying himself by putting his fist in his hand, "Best of 3!"
DIO's eyes widened at the mention of stands, summoning Hermit Purple, and the World appearing behind him. "You're a stand user?" He questioned, his eyes glowing a dangerous red in the shadow.
Ken froze for a moment in fear, and then snapped out of it as he looked both of DIO's stands up and down. "You... have two?" He asked, tilting his head in confusion, "I've only ever met people with one! Let's go!"
The two counted down as they did the motions of rock paper scissors. DIO glared as he saw they both had picked rock.
"Next round." He growled. Ken nodded and they continued.
They did the motions again, DIO quickly morphing his hand into the scissors shape. The wind blew past him dramatically. Ken had picked rock again.
The hole on the boy's face began to suck in the air and to DIO's horror, the threat of stand thievery was not just a simple threat. Part of Hermit Purple was sucked into the hole, and his left leg went limp.
DIO glared at the boy, who only smirked. "Now your-" The boy began to say but was cut off by a louder growl from DIO.
"Next round," DIO said, a dangerous tone in his voice.
Ken shivered and they continued to the next round.
This time, DIO picked rock again.
...and so did Ken.
It hit him, the boy was only picking rock! The corner of DIO's mouth turned up as he realized this. He looked at Ken.
The boy was slightly shaking, and DIO could hear his heart rate increase. It seemed that the boy was disillusioned with his only rock strategy by now, and would most likely not pick scissors as that was what DIO had last picked. DIO smirked, the boy would pick paper, so he would have only one choice.
They went through the motions again, DIO's hand confident and Ken's shaking greatly.
DIO's hand unfolded into the shape of scissors, and he heard a gasp from the boy. He looked over and couldn't help but allow a grin to form on his face.
Just as DIO had predicted, Ken had picked paper.
"That's one point in my court, versus one point in yours." DIO stated, readying his hand as he spoke, "Let us continue."
Ken only nodded, having been silenced by his own fear. They continued, having two more rounds of ties, and then… DIO picked rock, Ken picked scissors. The boy was full-on crying now, and as he saw the results of the toss he let out a choked sob.
"Are you wishing to forfeit?" DIO asked, leaning over to look the boy in the eyes, his brown hair causing a shadow over his face.
Ken shook his head vigorously, shaking some of his tears onto DIO's face. DIO wiped them off in disgust and they continued. Another round of ties and...
DIO picked scissors, Ken picked rock.
Ken's heart jumped as he saw the results, and his stand went into action. He looked up at DIO, who was… surprisingly calm. Not even visibly angry. One of his arms had gone limp next, the metal hand hanging next to his working side. Ken froze, his heart sinking as he saw this. He must've planned for this. He must know he's going to win.
"You know…" DIO began, "Everyone has always told me I have the Devil's own luck." He stated, and Ken took a step back in horror.
"You… what?" He began to ask, but DIO held up a finger and stopped him.
"That is enough of that, though. Let us finish this." He readied his only working hand and grinned, "Unless, you wish to give up?"
Ken gulped and shook his head. He slammed shut his eyes as they did the motions, he didn't want to see it. He felt it in his heart. He was going to lose.
...What would happen to him if he did?
Too late to worry about that. He threw paper.
He peeked open his eyes to see the results and his heart sank.
DIO picked scissors.
The game was over. He had lost. His cheek hole released all of DIO's power and the vampire stood upright, staring down at the little boy.
"It appears I've won," DIO observed, stepping toward Ken. "And now for my prize..."
Ken quickly took three steps back, looking behind himself and at the street. He needed to get out of there.
"...Your life," DIO stated, causing Ken to immediately sprint as fast as he could toward the exit of the alley.
DIO merely stood and watched, he looked over at his stand and nodded.
Time stopped.
He stepped over to the terrified boy, grabbed him, and turned him around.
Time began again.
Ken ran full force into DIO's chest and fell backward onto his bottom. He gasped in fear and looked up at DIO. "Please don't hurt me!" He begged, crawling back on his hands to try and escape. "I'm only eleven!"
DIO laughed. "How about one more round of the game? I'll even tell you what I'll be throwing." He pulled his fist back and grinned at the absolute horror in the boy's eyes. He punched the boy in the stomach as hard as he could, his hand going through the kid's abdomen and coming out the other side. The boy went flying down the alleyway and slammed into a dumpster at the end. Blood flew out of his mouth, and DIO chuckled.
"...It seems rock beats boy." He said as he stepped out of the alley, glancing back only for a moment to admire his handiwork, and he headed on his way.
