Chapter 2-Awakened
Up on the third floor, Madame Pomphrey gently laid Hermione on her bed in her room she shared with Ginny. Without talking to Severus, Poppy started waving her wand and performing scans on Hermione.
"How is she, Poppy?" Severus asked worriedly.
Hermione looked so peaceful laying in bed that Severus could really study her new features. It was surprising how familiar they were, but he could not place it. "Nothing medical, Severus," Poppy said looking puzzled, "She may need a few vitamin potions but medically she is fine. She has a different magical energy now and it seems to be pulsing from her body. Can't you feel it?"
Severus could feel the slight buzz of magic pricking his skin every few second. It amazed him he only ever felt that around Voldemort and Dumbledore but normally only when they are mad or overly emotional.
"Well isn't that from the growth," Severus asked.
"Could be," Poppy said skeptically "Well need a pepper up potion and a dreamless sleep. Let her sleep and let her magic get fully restored. Add a few vitamin potions too and that should cover it."
"Alright, Poppy," Severus said opening his kit and taking out the potions she requested.
Poppy started administering them. "We should call her parents she may want to see them, and we might get some answers, "Poppy thought allowed.
"Excellent idea Poppy," Albus said from the doorway "Minerva will you go collect the Grangers."
"Very good Albus," McGonagall said leaving immediately.
"Let's go down, have some tea, and wait for the Grangers," Albus said cheerfully masking his aspiration.
All three left the girl laying there to recover and departed to the sitting room. As soon as, they walked in they were bombarded with questions. Severus now more then ever hated being in a room full of Gryffindors. They never shut up or stopped talking to let anyone else talk. Slytherins knew they would be told or even investigating the problem first, but they also knew bombarding someone would never get the answers they were wanting. He slowly zoned out as he sipped his tea and contemplated the girl upstairs. Tying to explain her new familiar features.
Not long the door of headquarters opened, and McGonagall led in two people. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Granger," Dumbledore greeted standing and gesturing them to come further into the room "Please come in. Please have some tea."
The Grangers walked in and sat on a love seat Tonks and Kingsley vacated just seconds before. "What is going on," Mr. Granger said angrily while sitting down "She just said we were needed right away."
"Yes, please, has something happened to Hermione," Mrs. Granger asked close to tears.
All the way here they both worried never had they been told to come at all in the last few years. They only knew what Hermione told them and the letter sent by the Headmaster at the end of this last year explaining Hermione need to stay at Headquarters. He requested but they never really knew the difference like anyone else.
"All is well," Dumbledore said, "Hermione has just experienced her growth and we felt like it was best you both were here when she wakes up."
"Growth, what is that?" Mr. Granger asked at the same time Mrs. Granger said "Wake up! "What do you mean wake up?"
"Calm down, honey, I'm sure the Headmaster will explain wont you," Mr. Granger said sitting up straight and giving Dumbledore a truly strangling glare, its rivaled Severus in face.
"Indeed," Dumbledore said uneasily then stared explaining what a witch's growth was.
At the end of the story the Grangers were shocked. Their daughter was unique they knew that, but this was extraordinary if they were reading in between the lines eight. They could feel the tension in the room and realized that Hermione maybe in trouble with the vibe they were getting from the room. They both understood the Headmaster and realized he was fishing for something. Both decided to enlightened Hermione on a few things first before telling this room of busy bodies Hermione may know them but neither of them trusted them before knowing them. "Can we see our daughter now?" Mr. Granger asked sternly.
"Yes, yes of course," Dumbledore said with a dimmer twinkle in his eyes then before "Severus will you take them up to Hermione's room please."
"Very well, Headmaster," Severus sneered ready to go back to his lab and away from everyone here.
The Grangers followed Snape up to Hermione's room. As they walked in the room, they saw Hermione looking at herself in the mirror. "Mum, what happened to me," Hermione cried seeing her parents as they walked in through the mirror.
Jane and George Granger were stunned by their daughter's appearance. They were seeing the real Hermione for the first time. "Oh, honey, I'm sorry but we can explain," Jane explained.
"Professor, can you leave us?" Hermione asked and then without an answer Severus went flying out the door and hitting the wall. Then the door slammed shut with a bang.
"Hermione!" George Granger explained.
"Oh," Hermione cried "I don't know how I did that. I just wanted it done and it happened. Now what's happening to me?"
"Well about that," Jane explained "We wanted children so bad and we didn't keep the truth from you to hurt you but to protect you."
"Mum!" Hermione interrupted.
"Hermione you aren't our biological daughter," George quickly took up for his wife "You are adopted. We adopted you the day you were born."
