Chapter 12-Cluck Cluck!
The next morning Hermione went down to breakfast wearily. She could hear conversations that were muffled by either a spell or whispering. As soon as she walked into the kitchen the two chickens were sitting on the table and the order was set around the table. McGonagall was in the process of transfiguring the chickens back.
Hermione was bombarded as soon as she walked in her bruises ignored. "Young lady, you change them back," Molly screeched.
"Why should I?" Hermione asked, "None of you care that I am black and blue. None of you helped me last night after they beat me. All you all cared about was the two who did it. Why?"
Everyone didn't know what to say. It was quiet except for the clucking on the table that was squawking at her. Remus got up and came to look at Hermione. He winced when he saw her face, both chicks had dark black bruises and her lip was split. "Hermione let's get you some bruise past and a pain potion," he said.
"I don't want anything from any of you," Hermione hissed, "I will be leaving here today, and you will not stop me. I is apparent that I am not safe her."
"You cannot leave young lady," Molly hissed.
"If you try to stop me, I will press charges against our two feathered friends over there," Hermione threatened and the table gasped, "I will not be told what to do any longer. After last night and the news yesterday. I am not safe out there or in here. So, I will be at Hogwarts on the 1st but until then I will not be here."
Hermione then stormed out of the room to gather her things. She left the room in utter silence. "Did you see her face?" Tonks asked Kingsley.
"Technically she is right," Kingsley voiced, "These two deserve some punishment for what they did to her."
"How can you say that?" Molly cried, "Look at my babies. They are chickens. We would have taken care of their outburst."
"But you didn't prevent it," Remus interjected.
That seemed to quiet Molly down. "We can't let her leave," Albus said.
"Do you want to be the one who stops her?" Minerva said to Albus.
Albus decided that was just what he would do. Minerva continued to try and reverse the spell Hermione used but nothing seemed to work. She was extremely impressed with her favorite lion and very disappointed in these other two. The group heard the girl come back down the stairs and walked to the entranced hall. "Now Miss Granger, you can't leave," Dumbledore said.
"Headmaster, with all due respect I will be leaving," Hermione said, "No one here will stop me."
Dumbledore pulled out his wand to try and Hermione glared at the man. "I will stop you," Dumbledore said, "You know too much, and you can't be trusted outside of these walls."
"How dare you?" Hermione shouted, "I have had Harry's back for 5 years and never once did I not hold my tongue. You would dare draw your wand on an innocent teen because she no longer wishes to stay with people who refuse to protect her."
Hermione had enough she moved past the headmaster for the door. She felt a spell hit her shield and fire back at the headmaster hitting him square in the chest by surprise. "Goodbye, Mrs. Black, give them hell for me," Hermione shouted and left the house.
The last thing she heard was the roar of the crowd and the two teenagers clucking turned into yelling adding to the noise.
