Jaune and Courage the Cowardly Dog

Chap 68: Ball of Revenge

"Almost done." Muriel said as she finished sewing a multicolored blanket.

"Thank you for the sweaters, Muriel." Pyrrha said as she admired the sweater Muriel made for her.

"Yeah. Thanks, They're awesome." Ruby shouted as well.

It was a few weeks since the vacation the left us shipwrecked on the island. After the ship capsized, I had lost my scroll which is now probably at the bottom of the ocean. And because of this, I was unaware and unable to respond to any of the messages my friends sent me. This caused them to worry and rushed over here as soon as they could. Needless to say, they were quite worried about what I told them and were relieved that everything was fine now. Afterwards, they decided to spend a couple of days here since it's been a while since we have all been together. Currently, we were in the living room as Muriel finish making a blanket for Courage. But that is not the only thing she made. She made everyone a sweater. And each sweater was in the color of the person's aura and she even etched the persons emblems onto them as well. Thery were quite beautiful.

"I thought the periwinkle yarn would be striking. But, uh, the mellow yellow just makes the blanket." Muriel said as she continued to make the blanket.

"It sure does Muriel." Iris said as she snuggled into my side as we ignored the teasing my friends, mainly Yang, were sending our way.

A couple hours after my friends arrived, she arrived as well. Finally finding some more free time so we could be together and finalize some details about our wedding. Though, that was put to the back of our minds when I gave her the wooden figure, I made of her. And by that, I meant that she kissed me so passionately that my mind could not process anything else at the moment.

"Yellow shmellow. Hurry it up. I'm freezing." Eustace complained as he held an old and torn blanket up to him.

"And done." Muriel said as she stood up to admire the blanket.

"Come to papa." Eustace said as he threw the blanket he currently had away. Only to become shocked when Muriel placed it on the floor.

"Here you go." She said as she picked up Courage and placed him on the blanket where he started to rub himself against it. And judging by his expression, he was clearly enjoying it.

"Huh?" Eustace asked not able to process what just happened.

"Having fun?" Nora asked giggling at Courage's expression.

"MURIEL! What are you doing? Giving my new blanket to that filthy dog?" Eustace shouted angry.

'Ha, ha, ha.' Courage laughed as he continued to rub himself against the blanket.

"Oh, Eustace. You have that perfectly comfy chair to sit in. And what does Courage have? Only a wee blankie." Muriel countered smiling at Courage's happy expression.

"COURAGE! COURAGE! COURAGE! THAT SYUPID DOG GETS ALL THE GOOD STUFF AROUND HERE! I HATE THAT DUMB DOG!" Eustace shouted before marching away.

"Fucker." Yang cursed while also covering ruby's ears so she didn't hear that. Not that it would have mattered as everyone in the room was glaring at Eustace.

"Take this you ass." Iris said before forming a cloud next to Eustace which struck him with lightning ten times before disappearing.

"Oh, don't fret Courage. He doesn't hate you." Muriel told Courage who was upset about what Eustace just said and was on the verge of crying.

"Forget him Courage. You have us." I said as I picked him up and gave him a hug.

"Yeah. You have us." Nora affirmed before giving Courage a hug as well. And nearly making his eyes pop out of his head as well.

"It is quite early still. How about we all go out to buy some groceries so I can make dinner." Muriel suggested. "And it will give time for Eustace to cool down."

"All right." I said as we all got up. Smiling, Muriel went over to the nearby table to get the keys for the truck. We then exited the house and drove to the market. Unaware that today was going to get a lot tougher.

6:00 P.M.

"It was a good idea to go shopping while Eustace cooled off. Now I can make a delicious and dinner. Plus, we are now stocked up on Courage's favorite vinegar-dipped liver supreme dog food." Muriel said as she parked the truck.

'Yuck.' Courage said grossed out while sticking his tongue out.

"Does she have to put that much vinegar in everything?" Ruby asked.

"She used to put vinegar in only certain foods. Now, just about everything that is edible, she will out vinegar in." I answered as we got down from the truck.

"Yet, despite not normally being put in certain food, she has the magic touch to make any food delicious." Weiss asked as we grabbed the grocery bags.

"True." I answered as Muriel does have a magic touch when it comes to cooking.

"Do you think she could teach us Jaune?" Ren asked while holding the door open for us.

"I'm pretty sure she would be happy to teach all of us almost everything she knows." I answered as we entered the house.

"Anyone else hear that?" Blake asked.

"Hear what ki-?" Yang began but got her answer when we heard cheering coming from downstairs.

"Eustace, what are you doing down there?" Muriel asked as she knocked in the door.

"What?" Eustace asked as he opened the door only slightly.

"Eustace. What's all the ruckus?" Muriel asked.

"What ruckus?" Eustace asked trying to feign innocence. Only for that to go out the window when we all clearly heard yelling coming from downstairs. But it was what they said that really caught our attention.

"Destroy that stupid dog and kid." The people downstairs chanted.

"That ruckus." Yang growled out. Her eyes already blood red from her anger.

"Uh..." Eustace struggled to come up an excuse.

"Lie man. Lie." Another voice told him.

"That's my friends. It's a man's club. And no dogs or kids allowed." He answered before slamming the door shut.

"Friends?" Muriel asked shocked.

'I don't like this.' Courage said scared and shivering.

"I never heard of a more lame and terrible excuse." Blake said annoyed.

"But you can bring us some sandwiches." Eustace demanded opening the door before slamming it again.

"No matter how much time passes. He will always be an ass." Weiss growled. Slightly surprising us that she cursed as she never did so. But we just chalked it up to Eustace's ability to make anyone despise him almost immediately.

"Well, let's head into the kitchen and begin making dinner while I make the sandwiches." Muriel said as we entered the kitchen before putting away the groceries.

Forty-Five Minutes Later

"Keep stirring the pudding or it will burn." Muriel told me and Courage as we stirred the pudding that was to be for dessert tonight.

"How much longer should we leave the flame on?" Blake asked as she stirred the meat in the frying pan.

"Oh, another five minutes." She answered as she picked up a try filled with sandwiches. She then headed to take them downstairs. "Don't stop stirring no matter what."

"Okay Muriel." I said as we continued to stir.

"What do you think Eustace is doing downstairs?" Pyrrha asked.

"Whatever it is, it can't be good as I have a very bad feeling about it." I answered.

"But whatever he has planned, we'll be there by your side you two." Iris said with a smile. But as soon as she said that, we all heard Muriel scream from downstairs. Courage's eyes even widening in fear.

'It's Muriel. She's in trouble.' Courage said worried.

"We better go check on her." I said letting go off the pot.

"Want us to come with you guys?" Ruby asked.

"Considering what could be waiting for us, not yet. Give us a few minutes. And if you don't hear us, say anything, that means we are in trouble." I told her.

"Be careful." Pyrrha said as she readied her weapons.

"We will." I told her before turning to Courage and motioning for us to go.

'What do you think could be waiting for us?' He asked as we approached the door to the basement.' He asked.

"Nothing good." I answered as I opened the door and saw some torches on the walls. Going down the stairs, we felt a shiver of dread go down our spines. Reaching the basement, we saw a sight that terrified us. Muriel chained to the wall above a cauldron filled with a strange green boiling liquid.

'AAHHH!' Courage screamed in terror.

"MURIEL!" I screamed as well. We were about to move to free but were stopped when something landed on top of us. Something heavy that felt and smelled familiar.

"YEAH! Remember us?" The voice of the clutching foot asked as he squeezed us between his toes.

"Yeah. Remember us?" The pinky toe repeated the question. Feeling that he was not referring to himself, we looked up and saw another horrifying sight. All the enemies we previously faced off against were together under one roof. All to take revenge against us. Le Quack, Katz, Cajun Fox, Weremole and Queen of the Black Puddle.

'OH, NO!' Courage gasped.

"You licked us good, see." The big toe reminded us,

"Cooked us good too. Remember that?" The Cajun Fox asked.

"Oh, what are you going to do to my Courage and Jaune?" Muriel asked worried.

"Now we are going to put the squeeze on them." The big toe answered before giving squeezing us painfully.

"Ha, ha, ha." We heard Eustace laugh behind us.

'I knew it was him.' I thought bitterly as I heard him go up the stairs to close the door.

"Ready for a little sport before slow dying dear boys." Katz menacingly asked,

'Uh-Uh.' Courage answered.

"Yeah. Not feeling like doing sports today," I answered as well.

"Let's play... Dodgeball." Katz said before pulling out a dodgeball from nowhere.

'AAAHHH!' Courage screamed in terror.

"Great. Dodgeball. My least favorite sport." I said as I always hated the sport. Mainly because I was always ganged up on when I was younger. Hearing footsteps, we looked to the side and saw Le Quack in a referee shirt walk to the center of the basement. The lights turned on which revealed the basement had been transformed into a dodgeball court.

"These are the rules. The ball, she is round. The loser, they are fini." He said after blowing his whistle.

*Knock Knock*

"ARGH! Who could that-" Eustace began irritated as he reached for the door but was sent flying back when the door was smashed to pieces courtesy of an extremely pissed off Yang.

"What's happening down here?" Ren asked as he and the others came barging down the stairs. Each one of them having their weapons ready. Or in the case of Iris, a violent storm.

"We're getting our revenge that's what's happening." The Cajun fox answered.

"You again. I thought we cooked you." Pyrrha said annoyed.

"You did. And be lucky we ain't here for you." He told her.

"Everyone Jaune and Courage ever face is here" Ruby said shocked at what she was seeing.

"Oh, hey. Queenie." Iris suddenly said to the Queen of the black puddle.

"Hey." The raspy voice of the Queen of the black puddle replied.

"You two know each other?" I asked.

"We went to school with each other long ago and used to hang out until I got really busy." Iris answered before asking. "Why are you here?"

"Revenge." She answered. Though it seemed like she was reconsidering it. Why, I wasn't sure.

"Yeah, not happening. You're not harming him." Iris declared.

"Why are you protective of a mortal?" She asked.

"He's, my fiancé." Iris answered.

"Oh. Then as a favor to you for what you did so long ago for me, I will not have my revenge nor harm him." The Queen of the Black Puddle said before turning to water and disappearing.

"You may have gotten rid of her. But we will still have our revenge." Le Quack declared.

"And they will be g-" Eustace began but was cut off when Yang punched him so hard a couple of teeth flew out of his mouth.

"Bastard." She said with pure malice.

"Now get off Jaune and Courage." Pyrrha demanded the Clutching foot.

"Now, now. Wouldn't want any harm come to Muriel." Katz said getting our attention. Turning to him, we saw him holding a remote. "All I need to do is push, and Muriel goes bye, bye."

"Fine. We accept your challenge." I said shocking the others.

"Jaune. Are you crazy?" Weiss asked.

"It's the only way to make sure Muriel doesn't get hurt." I explained.

"How about you dog?" The Big Toe asked.

'Fine.' He answered.

Five Minutes Later

'This is going to hurt.' I thought as we stood on the court.

"COME ON YOU TWO! YOU CAN DO IT!" The cheers of our friends came from the side of the court. After a bit of negotiating, our friends eventually relented to staying to the side and cheer us on. They tried to tell us about how rigged this was. But we knew that as it was fairly obvious. Yet, going along was the only way to keep Muriel safe.

"He, he, he." Eustace laughed as he sat on the stairs holding a hot dog. But was knocked out again when all our friends fired their weapons at once at him.

"Begin." Le Quack said before blowing his whistle.

Katz started off the first attack by tossing a dodge ball at us. But as it flew to us, spikes came out from the ball. Which didn't surprise us too much. Pushing Courage out of the way, we avoided the attack but that left us open to the next two attacks by Katz. Both were spiked again. One hitting my leg while the other one hit Courage in the head. Though, he escaped unharmed as his head went inside his body and popped back out when his body fell to the floor. But the same cannot be said to me as blood came out of my leg after I removed the dodgeball. Luckily, my aura managed to heal me quickly.

"JAUNE!" The others screamed in fear and worry.

"I'm fine." I lied as it really hurt a lot.

"You won't be for long." Katz threatened before have his eyes nearly bulged out of his head when he saw the weremole eat a dodgeball and burp right after. "Who invited this unrefined beast?"

"Blame Eustace." I said while pointing to him.

"You guys smell something?" Blake suddenly asked. Looking around, we saw that it was coming from the food the Cajun Fox was carrying.

"My spicy Cajun pierogies are known to pack a wallop." He said as he placed a giant spoon in-between the toes of the clutching foot. He then put the food there before moving behind the spoon. He then pulled back and made us realize the spoon was a makeshift catapult as he used it to send the food towards us.

'AH!' Courage gasped as most of the food flew into his open mouth. Only one got into my mouth while the rest hit my exposed skin.

"HOT!" I shouted while Courage ran around the court as steam came out of his mouth from how hot the food was. And even though they were only food, they were hot and spicy enough to cause second degree burns on my skin where they made contact despite my aura.

"Just walk it off. Just walk that one off." Blake said worried as even though she didn't get hit she could feel the pain the food caused us.

'WATER!' Courage screamed as he went over to where the sports drink container was. He opened it and drank nearly the whole thing. Only to spit it out a moment later. 'Yuck. Pooey.'

"Energy drinks never tasted the best." I said as I ran over and took a sip for myself to hopefully cool off my burning tongue. Only to do the same as Courage and spit it out myself.

"HA, HA, HA!" Eustace and the others laughed.

"Dodge this." The big toe said as Katz placed about twenty dodge balls in front of him. The Clutching foot then pulled back before hitting the balls. Causing all of them to fly towards us at dangerous speeds.

"WATCH OUT!" I shouted as I covered Courage's so he wouldn't take any of the hits. Luckily, most of the dodgeballs missed but that did not mean the ones that did hit did not hurt. "Ow."

'You, okay?' Courage asked.

"Fine." I answered through gritted teeth as the pain was immense but quickly started to fade thanks to my aura. But I wasn't sure how much more before my aura becomes depleted. Hearing a buzzing sound, we turned and saw the washing machine was done.

'Time out. Time out.' Courage called which thankfully Le Quack acknowledged. Despite the ire of the others at this. Ignoring them, we went over to the washing machine and poured some fabric softener to the clothes before starting the machine.

"Good job you two. Now go get them." Muriel shouted to us.

"Even when in mortal danger, they're still dedicated to doing the chores. That is dedication." Weiss said impressed.

"You did choose a great guy." Yang added with a smirk while lightly elbowing Iris which caused her to blush a bit.

'Let the carnage resume.' I thought as we nodded to Le quack to continue the game.

He nodded before blowing the whistle. And as soon as he did, we saw who our next attacker was. This time the weremole. He tried to jump out from the ground to attack us with his sharp teeth but missed. Growling, he went back into the ground to try again. This went on for a few minutes with the weremole growing increasingly frustrated that it could not catch us. After the sixth try, he nearly caught us but was stopped when Le Quack blew his whistle again.

"Le Halftime." He said stopping the game.

"What?" Nora asked confused. The lights of the room went out for a moment before a spotlight came on in the center of the room. In the spotlight were the two duck brothers we helped a while ago in saving their brother from become the special of the day.

"Halftime show. Halftime show. Yeah, yeah. No, no. Halftime show." They sang while playing the guitars they were holding. The spotlight went out before all the light came on again.

"Ren. Where can we get singing space ducks?" Nora asked excitedly. But her excitement turned to horror when we realized the actual lights did not come on. But rather the torch that Katz held.

"A CANON!" The others shouted in shock and fear.

"COME ON!" I shouted in dismay as we barely managed to avoid getting blasted. Only to get humiliated next by having lots of plungers land on us.

'Huh?' Courage asked confused when a shadow grew at our feet. Looking up, we saw a piano was falling on above us.

"That's gotta hurt." Ruby said wincing along with the others when the piano landed on us. It took almost all of my remaining aura to not pass out from the pain and injuries I suffered from that one attack. Turning to Courage, I saw that he was not faring much better either.

'Oh.'Courage moaned in pain as we got out of the piano. Only to start to get pelted by lots of water balloons. Normally only enough to get us annoyed, because we were hurting badly and weak in the legs, we fell down after the twelfth hit.

"I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up." I said as we struggled to sit up.

"Come on guys. Don't give up." Iris called out. Turning to her, we saw that she was near in tears. Hearing something powering up, we turned back to the others saw them preparing to finish us. Katz had a flame thrower. The clutching foot had a spiked club while the Cajun Fox had a giant clever. Though, almost humorously, the weremole decided to use a fly swatter.

"HA! HA! STUPID DOG AND KID! THIS IS IT!" Eustace cheered.

"Come on you, guys. Do something." Yang said worried.

"You two must be able to do something better than them." Muriel shouted. Sweat running down her face in buckets.

'Jaune. Can your aura empower someone else?' Courage asked turning to me.

"I know what you are getting at but the answer is no. At least, not directly. And considering what you are planning on doing, it can." I answered.

'Here goes nothing.' He said as he began to take in some deep breaths.

"What are you guys doing?" Pyrrha asked confused but also worried for us.

"You all might want to cover your ears. This will be loud. Very loud." I answered as I began to pump my remaining aura into Courage. He took one last big breath of air before letting out his secret weapon.

His lungs.

'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!' Courage screamed his lungs out. The scream so loud that everyone immediately covered their ears in pain. Even the house was shaking from how loud and intense Courage's scream was.

"STUPID DOG AND KID! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" Eustace shouted as he held onto the stairs to avoid falling down. But after a few seconds, the stairs fell apart from how intense the screaming was. Sending him to the floor as well. Turning back to the enemies, we saw them doing whatever they could to try and block out the noise. But the scream and pain prevented them from seeing the cracks in the ground forming beneath their feet. After another two or three seconds of screaming, a large hole formed taking all our enemies away.

'Whew.' Courage said as he stopped screaming before falling to the ground.

"Good...job...Courage." I struggled to say as I felt immense pain return to my body now that my aura was depleted.

"JAUNE! All the others shouted as they rushed over to us.

"Don't ever scare us like that again." Iris begged along with the others.

"We won't." I promised.

"That's good. Now, let's get you both back upstairs so we can treat your injuries." Pyrrha said in a worried tone.

"But first. We have to deal with a certain someone." Nora said threateningly while cracking her knuckles.

"Right." The others growled out as they approached Eustace. A deadly aura emanating from each of them.

"MEN'S CLUB, HUH?" Muriel asked angry.

"Oh, hello Muriel." Eustace said nervously. But Muriel was not taking it and hit his head with her rolling pin. "OW! What did I do?"

"Oh, we'll show you what you did." Blake said seething as they all ganged up on Eustace to give him a beating he would never forget. Even in his next life.

One hour Later

"Well, I hope your happy now Eustace." Muriel said as she folded some clothes. On the floor was Eustace in a full body cast. Hs injuries so severe that even his durable body would take weeks at best to be able to move again. That is if, the others don't come back and give him another punishment. And judging by the fact their pissed off aura has not dissipated yet, it would most likely happen again,

"Pease don't ever do something as dangerous or dumb like this ever again." Iris said while gently hugging me as my injuries still hurt a lot despite the care, they put in to tending them.

"And just let us take care of them." Nora added while holding her weapon.

'We won't.' Courage answered.

"And of course. We'll go with your plan." I added. "But at least there is a silver lining in all of this."

"What that?" Ren asked.

"That most of our enemies are most likely forever gone." I answered.

"True. But how about we try and rest now?" Weiss suggested. We all nodded before I turned on the television and just enjoyed the peace and each other's presence. While also enjoying the fact that they finally got to wail on Eustace.

'Soon.' I thought as I leaned on Iris shoulder. Soon our marriage date would arrive.

Notes:

Next chapters/episodes are Cowboy Courage, Evil Weevil, Katz Kandy, The tower of Dr. Zalost. Who should appear and should Iris appear as well?

Took out the ending part of freaky Fred appearing on the television as Jaune and the others did not meet him and I won't be writing a chapter on him.
