Tricks, Treats, & Deadly Sweets Part 5
He did his best to both tighten and loosen his grip along the base of the vine he held. It didn't stop the tightly strained appendage from being pulled, but the slack he had kept a few of the sharper pains away he was sure. Drakken focused on how thin it was towards his hand, a clear indicator that it had reached its limit.
If my flowers were here...
He momentarily rested on the thought of perhaps making portable vials for emergencies such as this one. This was interrupted as a large shift caused him to loose his balanced stance for a second. He looked around him as he took a few steps back from one of the mutants swiping at him. The others were too preoccupied with the tasks at hand to have seen him... a small relief.
Not very helpful if I was yanked into the monstrous horde.
"I think its done," said Cleopatra as she watched Duff stir the bucket.
"Ay, the tablets are gone," sighed Duff as he stopped stirring and rotated his shoulder, "I feel like I'm warmed up for a round on the green."
"So whose testing it?" asked Conner. There was a long pause and a few glanced at him, "I am not... that's supposed to be strong enough to take out... those things."
"They're are patrons, Conner," sighed Gina. She looked towards them, "Just a new level of... unique today."
"We could test it on one of them," shrugged Lucre as he picked up a glass.
"You just going to offer them a glass and hope they drink it?" asked Mego.
Lucre shrugged and approached the one actively trying the yank on the vines. Drakken sure hoped it worked if only to relieve some strain. He was slightly impressed that Lucre approached them without hesitation... it wasn't until it growled at him that he tossed the liquid in his mouth and then backed away that Drakken saw the panic on his face.
Apparently he forgot what he was doing.
They continued to growl and lash out, which was not helping Drakken's problem.
"How long do you think it will-" Lucre's question was cut off as slime spewed on him, "Take."
"Oh that's seriously nasty," gagged Ed, "Is that a hand!"
"Hey!" grinned Conner, "We found Herby!"
"Lucre?" asked Adrena. Lucre walked passed her and climbed behind the bar, "Are you okay?"
Drakken didn't get to hear or see what was happening behind him as he was more focused on keeping his stance as the creature thrashed and yanked at the vine. He was aware he was being pulled closed and was about to say something when he was yanked back away from the creature. He looked to see that Duff was holding around his middle, shortly joined by Mego as more of the creatures aided in the very painful tug-of-war that was starting to happen. In what felt like a breath it all stopped and the three hit the ground. So did the main mutant as he slumped over some of the others. They quickly got to their feet so he could regain his footing again in case they started pulling again.
"Five minutes," came Cleopatra's voice. Drakken looked to see her staring at the clock on the wall, "Not bad."
"So whats the plan?" asked Ed, "Are we seriously going to spray em down like a wet t-shirt contest? Because dude that doesn't seem likely."
"I thought that was the plan," said Duff, "Get rid of the majority and haul it."
Drakken looked around them, able to move a little freer now, the strain felt less strong now. They would easily be able to get the ones towards the edge to drink as they snapped and growled at them when they approached. The ones in the middle, the majority, would be harder to get. He looked over the ceiling but it was too close to have someone attempt to climb.
"If there was a way to hover..." Drakken trailed off.
"Can't purple Shego fly?" asked Duff.
"It's Mego," snapped Mego, "And No. I can't fly."
"Huh," muttered Ed, "You'd think with an ability to condense and restore molecules your could also expand and lighten them... Seriously, dude have you tried?"
Mego glared at Ed.
"You can compact because its there not remove," argued Mego.
"But have you tried?" asked Duff. Mego's glare turned to Duff, "I'm just asking."
"If only there was a way to hover..." Drakken trailed off as he heard the fans of the cooling units behind the bar kick in.
"Cuz," stated Ed as they both made eye contact and he nodded in a nonverbal agreement, "I got enough parts."
"So whose able enough..." Drakken looked around them.
He looked over the group, attempting to weed out those who might compromise the situation. He ran a mental background check on the ones around him, and his eyes fell to where Adrena was walking along the bar ledge picking out bottles.
"Adrena," said Drakken. Ed turned his head and Drakken saw the the nod, "Were any of those stunts you used to do... real?"
Adrena looked up from where she helping herself to a few bottles for later Drakken was sure. He watched her confused expression become mildly pleased.
"Well yeah," she grinned, "Most of my earlier episodes totally were... but towards the end... the more death defying... the more ratings."
Drakken watched her get a curious expression on her face as she put down the bag she was shoving the bottles into.
"You know... I have done more death defying things going to these events then I was willing to do on my own show," she looked thoughtful before snorting, "Boy did I undervalue my ability."
"Interesting," said Drakken, "So you've had harness training?"
"Harness like... stunt? Yes. Harness like leisure activity... also yes," smirked Adrena, "Why?"
"Well we have to get them to drink the concoction," said Drakken slowly, "And Eddie can enable the pack to hover after he dismantles the coolers-"
"What are you doing to the coolers?" asked Gina. She glared at Ed who was already hovering over them, "Those aren't cheap."
"Seriously, you have insurance for this place," shrugged Ed, "Say a mad scientist stolen them for like... devious behavior... Seriously."
Ed grinned as he yanked out one of the coolers.
"Yes... so..." Drakken trailed off, "You're pretty petite..."
He saw the exchanged looked among the group and the dawning look of concern on Adrena's face.
"Me?" asked Adrena, "You want me to be...bait!?"
"No-" Drakken was cut off by a series of 'Yes' and 'Pretty much' from the others, "You're just used to stunts."
"Why me?" scoffed Adrena, "Send Cleopatra... she's thin and lithe."
"But tall," added Cleopatra, "Plus, you are far more experienced in this action aspect."
"You used to be an archaeologist... I saw the vid of you scaling a cave. Nice try," glared Adrena. Cleopatra's brow raised.
"When and where?" she asked.
"You'll see next week at seven on VillaTV," smirked Adrena. There was an exchange of looks, "Does not one listen to me?"
"I do," said Lucre. Adrena sighed, "Fine then, I wont."
Drakken felt a tug.
"Can we conversate later... Adrena," Drakken nodded towards the pack.
Her expression shifted from glare to almost pleading before finally sighing as she put on the strap part of the harness as Ed put together the final parts.
"If I die... I will haunt every single one of you," she pointed to each of them, "You're just lucky I know that I'm more physically talented than any of you."
Drakken saw Mego open his mouth but Gina nudged him into silence.
Shego sent a swift kick into the mouth of one of the creatures snapping at them. Her mind was a mess as it retreated, attempting to keep them away from their small space and from damaging any of the vines further. The fact they aided in protecting her or rearranging as she indicated meant Drakken was at least fine on the other end of the chaos. She'd had time to assess the mutants at least... more and more she doubted this was a Dr. Sweets situation as Adrena's words played in her head... these were very similar to the creatures on the island.
Camille kept coming to mind... the paper... her new life... and avoidance of this one.
Something is fishy... and not just their breath.
"How long is this going to take you," sighed Shego.
"I am doing the best I can," hummed Dementor, "May I remind you lieb- Shego that I only have half the parts."
"Uhg, isn't there just a release wire," sighed Shego.
"You want the doors to spring open and for us to all leave Dr. Drakken holding them back," asked Dementor.
Shego's brow raised as she looked up at him. Dementor was focused on the wires as her mind played back Drakken's calling to her, his unease, his pale face... was he afraid that's what would happen? She wouldn't leave him there... but the others was another story... a thought she'd remembered earlier this evening even.
Clearly we're on the same page there.
Shego shook her head and punched a creature as its hand reached for Flower.
"A question I meant to ask you two... is your lair in Greece?" asked Dementor.
Shego looked back towards him with wide eyes.
"Because if so could you kindly ask Drakken to maintain his garden a little better," stated Dementor. His eyes still fixed on his work, "Unless there are other sentient flowers we should all know about... they keep fighting my guard plants."
Shego crossed her arms, attempting to figure out how the flowers had gotten that far without being planted... but before she could ask more a new sound caught her attention. It was a a buzzing sound and whatever it was caused all the mutants to shift away from them to growl and snap at something else.
"Whose thirsty," came the shaky voice of Adrena as she came into view.
There was a series of thoughts racing through Shego's head as she watched Adrena slowly floating above the crowd of mutants snapping at her. The flamethrower she wore fitted with several fans, including two that looked like overpowered ceiling fans.
"Adrena?" asked Shego as the blonde was pouring liquid over the crowd.
"Hey Shego!" grinned Adrena. She could see the unease in her eyes, "Decided upgrade my costume to a helicopter bait... like it?"
"Ach der lieber! Whose idea was this?" bellowed Dementor.
"Drakken?" asked Shego. Adrena nodded, "Sounds right."
"It's not so bad," Adrena shrugged, "I'm going to stick to private villain get togethers from now on. The freaky fun is freaky done."
"Likewise," muttered Shego, "How long does it take."
"Ten minutes- Oh no," said Adrena as the large fan began to sputter.
Shego reacted as Adrena dropped in height. She kicked off the nearest chair and wall to grip to beam the best she could. Her heels both gripping and slipping from their placement. She mentally chastised herself of the speech she'd given herself long ago about not wearing casual attire to villain gatherings.
Clearly I'm too used to being home.
She yanked Adrena just as slime shot upwards at her. Adrena didn't sink completely but at clear range of clawed hands. There was shifting the the vines and Shego was shoved back towards the ground as Flower began pulling the mutants farther away from them.
"Nein!" yelled Dementor, "I am still working!"
The shift had caused them to reach his corner and with a yelp Dementor cursed.
"Hah! He bit your butt," snickered Adrena as with another shift Dementor was safe but held a tear in the fabric under his armor plating, "That makes me feel better."
She hovered still and sighed.
"Not that much better... because I think I might have inhaled some of the liquid," said Adrena. Shego watched as her eyes looked heavy.
"Adrena," asked Shego as Adrena began to drift away. Shego grabbed her hand and pulled her back down, "I think your done."
"I still have to... hover..." Adrena was out as she floated in the air.
"Well that stuff works," said Dementor.
Shego sighed and began unclasping Adrena from the contraption. Her eyes looked towards where Adrena had come from and where she had been headed. After a few moments of wondering how much it really mattered if not all the aggressive beings were incapacitated before kicking off her heels and strapping the thing on to herself.
"What are you doing?" asked Dementor as Shego used the failing fans to get the best grip she could on the few sturdy beams above them, "I feel like this is not a good idea."
"Just keep working," grumbled Shego as she took over for Adrena.
I regret this outfit now.
It was a relief running through Drakken as he watched a few people begin dropping. It did little to alleviate the strain he'd started feeling again as Adrena had flown out of view. It was simply reassuring that at some point the pain would end as more fell asleep. He felt tired, not drowsy... but as if the he felt heavy. He suddenly wondered if the knock out liquid was effecting his mutation.
I hadn't considered that!
"This might not be good..." muttered Drakken.
"What?" asked Ed next to him, "It looks like it working."
"Flower might be effected," grumbled Drakken.
"You named the thing Flower?" asked Ed. He shook his head, "Seriously if you and Green ever procreate... let her name them. Pfft... Flower... Stumpy. So much concern, seriously."
"I don't think that's a good idea," grimaced Mego, "Trust me."
"No one is procreating," snapped Drakken, "I am trying to explain that if the liquid effects Flower—The vine... I wont be able to hold them asleep or not."
"Another concern... how long will they even be asleep?" asked Lucre.
"Oh... what if it wears off before we can get out," added Cleopatra.
"Okay, lets focus on one chaotic thing at a time," said Gina, "Conner are the metal doors still a function?"
"I have no idea... the last time they were maintained was before you left," said Conner. Gina glared, "I was stuck with below quality help."
"He really was," said Duff. There were nods.
Drakken wanted to add a note about the bartender who turned out to be working for Botox but he couldn't afford the distraction.
"Metal doors?" he asked instead.
"We can trap them in here..." said Gina, "But anyone who got caught up in there could be hurt-"
"Or dead." Lucre added. They looked at him, "I thought were were having an honest moment... continue."
"I mean then what... leave them and hope it wears off?" asked Cleopatra, "I mean if this is one of Carmella's concoctions... the side effects might be worse."
"We can call Global Justice, they have special things to deal with this stuff," suggested Mego.
"Are you insane!" barked Duff, "This is a villain place."
"Technically we're registered as an Inn and Bar called VI," said Gina, "If you all clear out it will just look like a bad situation from an unknown source."
There was a silent pause.
"You mean that neon sign isn't short for Villain's Inn?" asked Lucre. Gina and Conner shook their head, "That's weird."
"I'm not okay with this," said Ed, "But its a plan... whose calling them."
Eye looked towards Drakken.
"I don't have their number," he snapped.
"I do," sighed Mego. There was a few gasps, "I am a superhero."
"Oh yeah that checks out," said Cleopatra.
"That makes sense," nodded Duff.
"Sounds good to me."
Drakken looked up to see Shego hovering above them.
"Shego, what-"
"Adrena inhaled some of the liquid so I took over," sighed Shego as she landed next to him, "This stuff better hurry up though."
"Agreed, I think Flower is effected by the liquid," said Drakken.
"That's not the problem," said Shego firmly.
Drakken was about to continue his questioning when he was yanked forward with a lurch. One of the bigger creatures... probably someone's henchmen by his size... had now broken free of his blockade as others had fallen asleep. It was not one they would have wanted missed with the sleeping concoction. Drakken grimaced as he slid rapidly towards him. Others had managed to break free as well, but seemed more concerned with rushing at the others. There was a green blast that shot past Drakken which was both a relief and a new concern as the creature glowed green. In a lurch from the glowing creature he shot a spew of glowing slime passed Drakken. It must have missed Shego because he felt her hands on his shoulders as she sprung over him to kick the creature in the face.
He desperately tried to regain control but he felt his vines falling away sluggishly from restraining the people for so long. Drakken looked around for anything to help in the situation and his eyes fell on a fire extinguisher.
It's better than nothing.
He aimed for the large one Shego was fighting and fired the frosty mist at it. There was an eruption of coughs and gags but it had stunned the large one enough for Shego to land a good enough kick that it flew into to slowly collapsing ones who'd finally started feeling the effects of the spray. Drakken sighed in relief and dropped the exstinguisher.
"Drakken!" it was a yell from behind him.
He spun to see a creature advancing on him. Drakken closed his eyes and blindly punched. He waited for it to punch back but as he opened his eyes he watched it topple to the ground. The punch had not been that strong in his opinion as it was more a quick reaction... but it appeared it had hit the same time the tonic had... the creature was fast asleep on the ground. A loud spring noise erupted and the doors slid open.
"Perfect time, correct?" yelled Dementor as he stood near a cleared door with Adrena asleep on his back, "Is there an additional plan?"
"We're locking them in and calling Global Justice," stated Cleopatra as they began moving towards the doors.
Drakken looked towards where Shego punched out another creature and blindly grabbed her arm. They darted over still fighting mutants and out the door... just in time it seemed. The moment they cleared the threshold the doors were slammed shut again. Both fell against the wall with their backs as they heard the clicking metal being pounded on. Drakken let out a shaky breath as he surveyed the exit area. They'd all made it out, which meant there was a chance they had actually waited for he and Shego to clear the doors.
A hopeful thought.
He gave a slight smile at the idea, even as he squashed it with simple good timing for them instead.
"Well I'm over this evening," said Cleopatra, "I say we hit the hotel."
She looked at Ed who was sitting on the ground next to her.
"I was thinking the nights still young and there are still places to be," smirked Ed as he jumped up, "I mean seriously... the adrenaline's racing... let's keep it going."
"Are you serious?" asked Lucre.
"Hell yeah!" grinned Ed, "I mean seriously... did we all just not escape epic seriousness... we need to celebrate!"
"What's happening?" grumbled a groggy Adrena.
"Motor Ed wants to continue the party in celebration of our escape," stated Lucre.
She slid off Dementor's back and yawned.
"I'm game... wait, we got out?" asked Adrena. She gave a tired attempt at a celebrated cheer, "Yes! Wait... how?"
"Shego finished your rounds and then Drakken blinded them with a fire extinguisher," said Mego, "Professor Dementor popped the doors... we ran."
"And now we're calling Global Justice so either hide or bail," stated Conner.
"We did great... we should celebrate," grinned Adrena. She looked at the closed door, "Oh no my bag."
"We'll get better drinks," grinned Ed as his hand clasped Drakken's shoulder, "Whatya say Cuz? Seriously, I think after that punch you should get a a good round, seriously. It was awesome."
Drakken snorted at Ed's air guitar.
"Ay. For such wee hands... they must pack a hit," laughed Duff.
Drakken was about to snap at him but Shego's hands found his balled fist and forced her fingers through his. He looked at her, ready to whine, when her expression stopped those thoughts. He couldn't place it, but as the others stated their departure, Shego simply began pulling them towards the stairs. Shego had picked up speed the moment they'd hit the first step, he'd not realized how eager she had been to get out of the mess behind them. There was no real reason for them to hurry, Global Justice arriving or not. At most they would simply be questioned, they had only helped prevent a situation from escalating. The grip on his hand, that she had yet to release, strengthened. He nearly stumbled as they reached the landing and was about to ask Shego why she was pulling him when she finally spoke.
"You need water," was all she stated before she pushed him through the door, "Or at least Flower does."
"We could have..." Drakken trailed off as he felt the itching run through his spine again, "Oh."
"Oh?" asked Shego as she hastily locked the door and pointed to the bathroom, "I know you were in pain."
"I mean... I was. It's just a little itchy and I feel fine," said Drakken. He hadn't really stopped to think how he felt, "I'm pretty sure."
"Really? Because you're a paler than normal," she replied and pushed him into the bathroom where she turned on the sink.
Drakken said nothing as he was handed a glass. The moment the water touched his tongue the itching in his back became and ache with the darting of Flower finding the water Shego was filling the sink with. As he placed the empty glass down he finally took in the source of his itching and mild ache. While he no longer felt strain from Flower being overstretched and tugged... it was clear there was noticeable damage. He could see the petals had returned to Flower, but they were clearly dehydrated by the lack of smooth edges, there were a few gashes and puncture wounds along what was visible of the appendage. None looked too concerning but that hadn't stopped Shego from pouring water over a few. The splashing of the water along the floor focused Drakken on turning off the sink Shego hadn't turned off.
"Monsters just attacked us and are dismantling there bar... they can get over water damage," snorted Shego as she stood away the vine wriggling, "Bonus about your mutation it seems to be pretty self-healing."
"Well my formula was supposed to make them regenerative... its was for global take over after all," smirked Drakken as she watched as the few smaller cuts began weaving shut. He looked at Flower still splashing, "I think Flower's milking it."
"Remind me to start carrying honey on these little outings," said Shego as her fingers looked at a deeper gouge near flower.
"Honey? Are we having tea?" teased Drakken, attempting to lighten Shego's frown.
"It helps healing wounds in plants and gives it excess nutrients," stated Shego.
Drakken raised a brow as she looked at him.
"For being part plant, you'd think you would do more research than me," shrugged Shego, "It was in last weeks issue of Plant Care."
Drakken felt a swell of feelings in his chest. The fact that Shego had even begun reading all those magazines and books on plants... but she was still doing so. The cynical side of his mind told him it was for the benefit of her henchplants... but he knew that wasn't true. His hand found hers again but before anything else could be said and heavy splash hit them bother.
"Flower!" yelled Drakken.
The newly vibrant pink petals let a few drops of water splatter on the mirror as it left the sink to almost look at them. There was still a few gashes but most had been healed over or smaller vines had woven around to finishing healing... and there was no longer a wilt to Flower. Drakken waved a dismissive hand as the familiar, now cool, coil down his back signaled the retreat of the vine. He reached to unplug the sink but was circumvented as Shego pulled him into a kiss. It took him by surprise for a split second but as her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, he eagerly returned the kiss. He slid his arm around her waist and the other found her her cheek as she pulled away from the kiss slightly.
"Your color is back," she murmured, "How are you feeling?"
"I was better a second ago," said Drakken.
There was a playful almost devious look in her eyes and her saw the spread of a flush across her cheeks. If he didn't know better he would have thought that she had finally got into the tequila that had been lingering around all evening, but he knew better. He became slightly aware of them moving out of the bathroom but he was more fixated on his lips finding hers again. The pain had subsided and he was sure the water had something to deal with the energy he was suddenly feeling all over his body. He pondered if they should focus on leaving but her lips moving against his as they moved towards the center of the room, started shifting the idea of leaving out of his head.
There was a part of him that wanted to recap the evening like he knew the others would be doing wherever they went tonight. He had even debated going himself before Shego had pulled him away... but he had no interest in it now. He found himself kicking off his boots as his hands gripped Shego's waist tighter. The adrenaline was heightened by the refreshment he'd had and he was coming out of his shock at the evening to a new awareness. Perhaps a little too much as Shego's back found the back of the door as he hastily tried to kick off his last boot, causing him to shift against her. The tiny bit of logic in his mind told him that he should deflate the situation, but the other part of him was being won over by Shego's nails along his scalp.
This is escalating quickly...
He told himself that as a means of gaining logic and he knew that... but his heart was racing and he didn't want to think about anything other than the women in his arms. The positives of the evening overtaking the negatives... the dancing, flirtly looks, and the kiss that had been interrupted eclipsed how the evening had ended.
Who says its over.
He found his hand drifting along Shego's hip and down the curve of her backside. When she pulled away he was concerned he'd gone too far, but the look in her eyes told him he was wrong. Her eyes were dilated, and he didn't miss her hand double checking the lock on the door behind her. There was no doubt at where her evening plans had turned too... and as the earlier evening returned to his thoughts... it may have been a option the entire evening. What was happening or had happened downstairs vanished completely from his mind as she moved around him, her hand pulling his face to follow her. His mind begins racing in every direction but the one every fiber of his being wanted it too. The hunger he himself was feeling was being poked and prodded by the fears and concerns he'd had earlier.
"Shego," he wanted to talk to focus his thoughts.
He leaned on one of the four posters of the bed as Shego sat down on its edge. She was looking at him and waiting for him to say something, but he didn't have any words. His mind was a battlefield of logic and need. It was easy to ruin the moment if he wanted too... he had years of practice at ruining moments... he didn't. She slid further on the bed, but he remained standing and forcing all his personal issues from his mind.
"So with all the teasing you had tonight," he watched the flush grow on her face and he could tell she was choosing her words carefully, "Are you going to show me what those hands can truly do."
Drakken grip tightened on the four poster. She'd given him an out... a sliver of one. She was seeing what he wanted depending on his response. There was no guessing where she was aiming for this to go... no concerns that he might be overthinking motives. He couldn't stop his eyes from traveling and the dryness in his throat as it sunk in. It mixed with imagining her with a disappointing expression he was so afraid of. With everything going in his favor as of late it would just make sense that something so important yet so simple what unravel his reality.
He watched his her face began to slowly fade from the playful smirk to one of resign. The response she'd been hoping for hadn't come, instead Drakken simply had stared at her. Drakken knew her well enough that she was going to try and deflate the situation herself clearly assuming that she done something to upset him. When it was quite the opposite... the words he was going to use didn't come... he had intended to tell her his concerns even... but those weren't the words that came.
"Well if you insist," he smirked.
The words spilled out and he felt his stomach drop as he wondered how idiotic and pathetic it had sounded. It deserved a scoff or an eyeroll he was sure, but that's not what it got. Shego's playful expression was back and as she slid further up the bed he didn't hesitate to follow her. Desperately he hoped that it wasn't as awkward as he thought it might look as he joined her on the bed, he was becoming ever aware of every movement he was making. Or at least he told himself this, but he didn't calculate the hunger in the kiss he was giving her.
It was like earlier, and he wasn't letting his mind think of where this was going. Simply being in the moment without second guessing where he should pause. He was relishing in these moments as they kissed and his hand began to actually make the effort to slide up her bare leg and underneath the fabric of the dress that he favored. He kept the thoughts and fears and failure at bay. The crunching of his coat against her nails and their breaths were the only sounds in his head. He let himself indulge in the feeling of her nails on his scalp as the boundaries of their physical relationship became smaller.
The silence of his mind didn't last.
He wanted nothing more than to be enjoying and enamored in the long awaited pleasures of his lips trailing down her low cut neckline. Craved nothing more than to marvel at the feel of her beneath his fingers. He desperately tried to will away every move he made being criticized and questioned in his own head. But despite Shego giving no indication that she was not enjoying his hands movements or lips location... the fear that it would all end in disappointment kept ruining the moment for him.
He started wondering just how much Shego's feelings ran for him versus hers. That if he wasn't to her standards would it be nothing or would it cost him everything.
Just tell her.
The thought of him actually expressing his fears and concerns with her in this very moment started playing through his head. He could truly see if they were on the same page if he said something now... It was so simple but it felt like it was the hardest thing he could possibly say. He realized that if he'd been thinking clearly, he would have brought it up sooner. Shego had indicated staying in the Inn so they could leave wherever they'd wanted but as he truly thought about her words when she'd originally suggested it... it was clear what she'd been hinting at. The memory of her nails down his back started to actually return as he felt her hand trailing down over the back of his coat.
There was no denying where both wanted this to go, but now he was berating himself for not figuring it out earlier and saying something. Instead he was in an out of the moment with concerns he was going to ruin the moment.
Just do it then!
He pulled away from her neck and was immediately pulled against her lips. He shifted his hand back along her thigh and used every bit of remaining focus to pull back again.
"Shego," his voice was heavy and he swallowed, "Shego I-"
Before he could finish a loud buzzing sound filled the Inn and lights began flashing from the hallway. Drakken shot up and so did Shego. There was the sounds of yells and loud maniacal laughing as smoke scent reached his nose.
"Damn it," growled Shego.
"Looks like Pyro Pete's awake just in time for Global Justice," groaned Drakken.
"Come on before he burns the whole place down," sighed Shego as she slid off the bed, "Again."
Drakken nodded and began quickly gathering their things to escape out the fire escape outside the window. He couldn't help but feel mild relief at having a second chance to find the words he'd been avoiding. A conversation he would overthink in his head the whole way home rather than actually say anything.
Saved By the bell...
