(A/N) So, I feel fairly accomplished with the amount of views I've gotten from the last chapter! I actually got 116 views which actually blew past the second chapter, so… go me! and You, go you too, you voracious reader you!
However I digress, it seems that trying the new writing style; should it even be able to be called that, was successful, so I decided to see if I could throw out another chapter, maybe even longer! which wouldn't be that hard seeing as the last one was typed in under a half hour.
Obligatory disclaimer! I own nothing about dragon ball z, that is the property of its owner, who is not me. Now, to the words so maybe we can finally see what's going on!
Videl kept her steely gaze locked on the retreating back of Gohan Son, the door blocking her view as he slipped through headed towards his next class. Her closest friend Erasa sliding up beside her on her sneakers. Looking first at her gaze, and listening to the low throated growl coming from her before following her line of sight to the door. A small smirk flashed to her lips, "What'cha looking at Vi?"
She didn't get any form of reaction from her low question, so she decided to change tactics, "You watching," She lowered her voice as she clasped her hands behind her back, "Gohan?" A huff of air and a small blush appearing on her pale cheeks, "No."
She turned to glower at her friend who bounced to the balls of her feet and spin towards the door, "I was NOT watching Gohan." Erasa hummed some form of response before taking slow, purposeful strides towards the exit. "That's what it looked like to me Vi," Erasa spun on one foot, to walk backwards as she threw a short barb, "Besides, you get to stare at him all next class."
She spun back towards the front, turning her head to watch Videl out of the corner of her eye. A sputtering rebuttal made its way past Videls lips, "I do not stare, I…" She searched momentarily for a word, "I collect evidence."
Erasa stopped by the door pushing it open, "Evidence of what, the fact that he's handsome?" The small blush growing more evident, "No, I know he's hiding something. I just have this gut feeling." She slipped her hand behind her head to capture one of her pigtails, and turned to look at Erasa, "There's something off about him E, I don't know what it is… but there's just something strange about Gohan."
Erasa nodded, her hair bobbing gently, "He didn't know who you were," She dropped her voice an octave and threw her hands on her hips, "There's no one who shouldn't know who I, the champ, Hercule is! Bwahahaha!" She grinned before bumping hips with Videl, "Look at it this way Vi, he's not seeing the daughter of the champ." she took a half step ahead of her and pressed her finger to Videl's forehead, "He's just seeing you."
She waved one hand at her and turned to her classroom, "I'll see you later Erasa." Erasa waved and kept walking towards her class. Videl took the steps two at a time to grab her seat, right next to Gohan's… again.
She threw a momentary dark look the demi's way before what Erasa told her crossed her mind again, 'He's not seeing the daughter of the champ, he's just seeing you.' She sat her bag down before grabbing the book and setting it on the desk and resting her chin on her hand.
'Maybe Erasa is right for once, maybe I'm making mountains out of molehills, but that doesn't mean he isn't hiding something.'Gohan on the other hand had to stifle a small chuckle when he saw Videl's momentary glare, it was nothing compared to his mothers. And a far cry from the scowl of the saiyan prince.
Deciding that this class was once again beneath him, he pulled a notebook from his bag and began to doodle the Kame house; including turtle lying on the sand below the palm tree.
He clicked his tongue when he was done, the drawing lacking something. It dawned on him that it was missing color, he turned to see Videl looking at him behind the curtain of her hair. A few strands having fell loose from the holder.
He watched her tuck it behind her ear, glancing over as she did so. A small blush rising to his cheeks he looked away, completely uncovering the drawing he had done. A slight disturbance in the air let him know someone leaned over.
Looking back down he saw Videl looking at the drawing, "It needs color." She decided promptly. Gohan tilted his head and nodded. "Maybe I'll give it to my brother to color, I don't have any crayons."
An arched eyebrow was the only clue he had said something odd, "What? What'd I say?" An amused smirk was his answer, "Crayons? Really?" Gohan nodded, "Well, I mean yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
A small rustle was the only answer he received before a box of what looked like pencils was placed by his hand, "I want those back before the end of class." He picked the box up and flipped it around, "Color pencils?" He asked, confusion in his voice evident.
"Adult crayons Gohan, adult crayons." She shook her head and went back to watching the teacher scribble on the board. She kept stealing glances at Gohan as he slipped the pencils out till he could easily grab what he needed and watched him fill the void the absence of color left on his roughshod canvas.
As the end of the class rolled around he slid the pencils back into their box and handed them back to Videl, "Thank's Videl, now it looks right." He nodded happily.
She looked at the previously black and white sketch and saw that the only way you could tell it wasn't just a print was the lines crossing from the bottom of the sea to the clouds, essentially everything was shaded in some way or form. even the clouds he had appeared to have added while he had the colors were somehow wispy.
He turned from the desk leaving the paper to lay there, and headed for the door. Videl watched him walking away, his bag slung over his shoulder. "Hey Gohan, you want this?" she waved her hand in the direction of the drawing. He shrugged and opened the door, "Not really, it was just a quick drawing."
She picked it up and slipped it into her binder and jogged towards the door, "What was it a drawing of?" She paused momentarily, glancing up at him through her long locks, like a one way curtain, "That's a friend of my fathers' house, where he lived for a while during his youth."
Her head tilted to the left, and she brushed her hair behind her ear, "Well, why was he living there instead of at his home?" Gohan paused at his locker, "When my dad was ten or so his father died, and he lived in the wild for a couple of years alone before someone came along and he left the mountains."
Videl's jaw dropped, "So… You mean to tell me, your father… at ten years old lived by himself? For two years." Gohan nodded as he placed his books in his bag and hefted it to his shoulder, slinging the strap over his head. "Where we live now is the same place where grandpa Gohan used to live."
Time passed quickly for the remainder of the week it seemed to the class. Friday morning was a blessing in disguise for his class and a somber disappointment for the rest of the school. Many saddened faces were pressed up against the windows of the school watching the busses load for what was possibly going to be the coolest field trip the school had ever gotten to take.
Erasa, Sharpener, and Videl all lined up along the side of the bus waiting for their fourth friend to show up and a small sigh of relief escaped all their lips as they saw Gohan running down the street towards the school. Where as they were all dressed in nice clothing, Sharpener wearing a charcoal grey three piece suit - with his hair slicked back even more than usual -, Erasa in a spaghetti strap sky blue dress, and Videl in an almost little black dress, only longer ending at just above her knees versus midthigh.
Gohan was wearing his normal school clothing, only this time he was dressed in a nice looking pair of denim jeans, and a long sleeved black t-shirt. His normal bag slung over his shoulder. "Mr. Son, what are you wearing?" Their teacher exclaimed, giving him a quick once over, Gohan looked at his outfit, raising his arms to make sure he didn't spill anything on himself.
"My normal clothes for visiting Capsule Corps?" He stated with uncertainty, "Why, is there something wrong?" The teacher in return pressed his fingers to his temples, "We're visiting one of the most influential families in the world and you're wearing street clothes!" Gohan tilted his head curiously to the right, "But Bulma's known me since I was four?"
The teacher ripped his hand from his head and sighed, "In that case, fine, just…" he gestured towards the door, "Just get on the bus Mr. Son…" Gohan nodded and followed his friends onto the bus, ignorant of all the whispers that had sprung up after his impromptu disclosure of information. The four friends all took seats at the rear of the bus. Videl slipped into one seat and Sharpener attempted to join her, one quick blow later and Gohan claimed the seat he hadn't quite managed to make it into.
Videl nudged him with her elbow, "You know you just painted a target on your back, right?" She asked the tall ebony haired teen. He shook his head, "Yeah Gohan, now everyone is going to try and get on your good side." Erasa explained from beside the still form of Sharpener. Gohan shrugged and pulled a small capsule out of his bag, and released it. A small snack appearing on his lap in a puff of smoke.
"Honestly, between this and me being royalty, I don't expect to get much peace either way." He shrugged and took a bite of his sandwich. Videl looked at the snack in his lap, "Is food all you think about Gohan?" She was still suspicious of him, but between the times they had talked, and him being willing to give her information, she didn't think he had that many secrets, but she still felt like he was hiding something from her.
He shook his head and opened a bottle of water before taking a small sip, "No, sometimes I think about fighting and my homework, but mostly just food." His mind took a trip to his mothers' kitchen and the tantalizing scents contained there-in, and he had a small string of drool pass from his lips. "Gohan…" Erasa deadpanned, "Yeah E?" He asked, snapping out of his daydream.
"You've got a little something on your mouth…" She pointed one perfectly manicured nail at his string of drool. He pinched at both sides of his mouth with his forefingers and drew them closed, catching the string on one, before wiping it on his jeans. "Thanks E." Videl had other thoughts, "What made you start drooling?"
He placed one hand behind his head scratching at the base of his skull and let out a nervous chuckle, "Just thinking about my moms' cooking." Videls palm met her forehead with an exasperated slap. "Of course, it'd be food…" The rest of the trip continued in comfortable teenage banter.
(A/N) And that wraps up this chapter, next chapter will be the classes first look at the infamous capsule corps. I figured that this was as good a stopping point as any, and I've already got a bit of what the next chapter is going to contain in my head and it contains a couple of mildly confusing surprises, and until you get to see it, you'll be just like me and wonder what's going on!
