Well, so much for getting this story out before Sword and Shield's release... though come to think of it, it's probably better that way. I do plan on having some Galar Pokemon in the sequel story, so it makes sense that I have time to use them in battle in the games to understand their strengths and weaknesses. And before anyone asks, no, the direct sequel to this story will not take place in Galar. You guys will see what I mean once I begin writing it, but I hope everyone will be surprised with the direction I go, other then TimtheVocalist, of course, who already knows the plan.
Speaking of, thank you to TimtheVocalist as always for beta reading my stories and correcting my stupid mistakes. Also, big thank you to Skarmory21 and Pokemonking0924 for reviewing Chapter 25; and a big thank you to new reviewers on Chapter 1, maycontestdrew and mariposablossom!

Darkness surrounded them from all angles as Wes, Rose and Jason found themselves sprinting, racing into the darkness without anywhere to go, but knowing they had to flee for their lives, as several of the creatures that Wes had faced the day they took a field trip of Aether Paradise chased after them, red auras signifying their increased power surrounding them. Rose looked back in horror, screaming something that Wes barely made out, but knowing that she was signaling to them that the creatures were gaining on them, and that hope was slowly beginning to look like a distant, unobtainable dream.
With a snarl, Wes turned, pulling out the Luxury Ball that Zero was in. "We can take them! Together!"
However, just before he could throw the ball into the air, Jason suddenly pushed him to the side, causing him to slam into Rose as the two of them suddenly found themselves flying backwards at breakneck speeds, the force sending them back so fast that nothing Wes could do stopped them from flying back. The creatures surrounded Jason, hungrily eyeing him, or at least that what it looked like, before they suddenly descended on the boy, enveloping him and leaving no part of him visible to the two trainers, who could only reach out in agony and despair.
"Good morning!" a sudden voice rang out, and the next thing Wes knew was pain coursing through his body, as electric surges slammed into him with fury. The teenager leapt backwards, landing on his butt next to the bedside, looking up with an expression of distain as the psychic electric mouse laughed in the air, just barely staying on her tail.
"What was that for!?" Wes snapped, standing up and looking over himself to make sure the plain looking pajamas he was wearing weren't damaged form the unnecessary attack. His breathing was ragged and uneasy, though the more he looked around the more he realized what he had seen was a dream, and the electric shock of Maple had brought him back to reality, waking him up before he could see what happened to his teacher.
The rodent thought for a moment before shrugging. "Well, I was staying so quiet yesterday due to everyone talking before I could, so I figured I would remind you that I existed! Plus, it's morning, you should've been up by now."
"Trust me, I didn't need that reminder, and to be fair I was exhausted from the events that happened yesterday so I deserve a little lie in", Wes retorted, suddenly realizing that a certain individual was missing from the guest room that he was occupying. "Where is Nayru?"
"Oh, she was up a while ago", Maple stated, pointing towards the door. "She's outside with everyone else. Though you might want to hurry, Rose is guessing that if we don't leave soon, Jason is going to get to the shrine before we can even set foot on Poni Island.
"Between you and me, I'm not worried about that", Wes stated, turning to his clothes, which were folded up nicely on the bedside dresser, courteously of Wicke washing them. "Now can you leave so I can get dressed?"
With a mock salute, the mouse flew out of the room, closing the door behind her with her psychic powers and leaving Wes to change out of the singed pajamas into the clothes that he was wearing when he first arrived into Alolan airspace. The teen sighed, looking down at the outfit that had accompanied him on so many adventures up to that point. Imagining how he was dreading coming here and wanted to leave as soon as possible, Wes found himself chuckling at the fact that not only had he grown to like it here, that he was going to be fighting the save this place from the light eating legendary that was threatening the entire region. As he stepped out to bask in the morning sunlight, he could see that he was not alone, as Rose was already up and had sent out Eva, who was flying around almost joyfully at finally evolving into Salamence, with Nayru watching on with a small smirk as the joy her draconic friend was showing. Along with them was a blonde that Wes had to double take at to realize it was Lillie, though she was now wearing a different outfit, but still white in coloration and a dress, along with a pink backpack instead of the PokeBall design duffel bag she had always carried around to hide Nebby in. Her hair was also up in a pony tail, and Wes almost had to force his head in the other direction to avoid admiring her, though the blonde must've seen, as she gave a slight giggle.
"I picked these clothes up in Malie... do you think they suit me?" she asked, twirling a little.
"They look great on you, Lillie!" Rose smiled at Lillie as she recalled Eva into her Great Ball, and Wes guessed she had not realized she was there until now.
"Thank you!" Lillie gleefully said, smiling brightly, before her expression faded into a serious look. "I feel like there's so much to do now... in order to save Nebby, and my mother. I... I want to be like you two... strong enough to face any trial. That's why... I'm coming with you guys, and I'm going to try my hardest! This... is my Z-Powered form!"
"Poetic, I guess", Nayru muttered, watching as Lillie posed a bit. "But, and I don't mean any offense to you, Lillie... with your trainer level, I'm not sure what you can do."
Wes thought about it for a moment before turning back to Lillie, and looking her over, the look of her face as she let Nayru's words sink in becoming a mixture of distaste towards the Embrace Pokemon and sadness as the sting of the words, as she had failed to defeat her own mother in battle before Wes and Rose arrived. Suddenly, as if the knowledge of what to do had been in front of him the entire time, Wes pulled out his Level Ball and sent out Faye, who cheered happily and buzzed around in the air.
"Wes, what are you doing?" Rose asked, looking curiously between Faye and her trainer.
"Lillie, if you really want to help us, I think it would be best if you had Faye with you", Wes explained, holding out the Level Ball to Lillie.
"Y-you want me to take, Faye!?" Lillie gasped, looking back and forth between Wes and the ribombee. "B-but-"
"It would be for your own protection", Wes explained, still holding out the Level Ball the bee fly Pokemon was contained in normally. "Besides, you seem to work best with Fairy Types, and Faye fits that bill. We might be facing some dangerous situations coming up, and having three trainers instead of two might be best, don't you think?"
Lillie was silent for a moment before nodding, slowly taking the Level Ball from Wes and examining it. Faye flew over and landed happily on her shoulder, rubbing her cheek and causing the blonde to giggle. "Th-thank you, Wes! I'll take good care of her while we save Nebby! I promise!"
"So, this is where you were", Gladion's voice suddenly said, causing everyone to turn and see the black clothed boy walking up to them, holding onto a blue flute that he handed to Rose. The redhead took the flute curiously and began to examine it, noticing a moon like design attached to it. She looked at Gladion confused, and the boy began to explain. "I found this downstairs, it's the Moon Flute. Apparently, it's an ancient artifact from Aola's past, said to be played under the moon's light. The Sun Flute and the Moon Flute, when sounded together, they can call the Legendary Pokemon... or at least that is what is said in ancient myth. Like the members of the Ultra Recon Squad said, right? If the Legendary Pokemon really does exist, we might be able to reach that other world where Necrozma is." He then turned to Wes and Rose, nodding at the two trainers. "I'm counting on you two to save my family, it's the least I can do."
"But what are you going to do, Gladion?" Lillie asked.
"Deal with this mess", Gladion explained, looking back towards the foundation. "I've got to clean up Aether Paradise. All I wanted was to be able to protect everybody, together with Null... maybe I couldn't do that, but I'll make sure that this place at least stays safe..."
"Are you sure it's going to be in danger?" Rose asked, looking around. "I mean, it seems pretty peaceful now that Team Skull left."
Wes suddenly saw something out of the corner of his eye, turning and pulling out the Luxury Ball containing Zero. "I wouldn't count on that!" Gladion, seeing the same thing Wes said, ran forward, shielding Lillie and pulling out Silvally's Premier Ball. A distortion in space, similar to the one that Nebby formed before, appeared and from it emerged two creatures that were unfamiliar to them all. The first one was composed of many dark gray, stone lifeforms stacked together to form a four-sided tower with a spindly leg on each corner, with several light blue eyes dotting various parts of it's body, flipping with the stones randomly. The second one was much more complicated in appearance, with a slender torso, wide hips with yellow, blue and pink alternating stripes, a large white sphere in the middle of its body and another on its back in place of a tail. It thin arms swayed a little, showing off the white frills on its wrists and the teardrop-shaped hands, with the right arm being pink, and the left one blue. It began to walk forward with it's thin, white high-heeled boots like legs, the curled toes pointing towards the trainers, at Wes in particular. The blocky creature also began to move forward, but in a much more stiff motion.
"Ultra Beasts!" Wes snarled, throwing the Luxury Ball forward and sending out Zero, as Gladion sent out Silvally, both creature roaring in distaste at the creatures in front of them.
"Any guesses on what types they are?" Rose asked, eyeing the clown looking one in particular, the movements seeming to freak her out a little.
"Only one way to find out..." Wes snarled, pointing at the stone looking one. "Zero, Crush Claw!" The beast rushed forward, slashing at the creature with his claws, but the strange life form did not seem too phased by the attack, almost like it didn't even feel it. Wes turned and pointed at the other creature, issuing the same command, only this time Zero seemed to phase through the creature, as if not effected at all.
"Rotom, are you getting data from them at all?" Rose asked.
"Well, not really, zzt!" Rotom sweat dropped. "But, at the very least I could tell that Zero's attack didn't work on the multicolored one, and since it was a Normal type attack, that must mean it is Ghost type!"
"G-g-ghost!?" Rose immediately hid behind Wes, eyeing the creature in fear.
"What about the brick looking one?" Gladion asked the device.
"Very ineffective, but still did damage", Rotom answered. "The only two types that resist normal are Rock and Steel, which means that Ultra Beast must be those two types!"
"So, we are dealing with a Ghost type with a possible unknown typing, and a Rock/Steel type Ultra Beast", Gladion muttered, looking between the two. "I see... then we got on our hands a very defensive wall, and an enigma. Wes, see if you can figure anything out about the ghost one!"
"Ok!" Wes nodded, turning back to the strange creature, and racking his brain with what other attacks he could use to attempt figuring out what other type it was. "Zero, X-Scizzor!" The chimera Pokemon charged again, slashing at the beast with it's claws in an X shape, though the beast didn't seem too bothered by it, and before Wes could ask Rotom what he gathered from that attack, the creature shot forth a burst of flame, which hit Zero and sent him flying back, howling in pain.
"Oh, oh!" Rotom pipped up. "That bug attack was very ineffective, and that fire attack coming from it was very strong! Since that bug attack was so ineffective, the only other type it could be is either Fire, Fighting, Steel, Posion or Flying. However, that attack it did was Flame Burst, which seemed like it was being used by a Fire type, so it must be fire!"
"Did I hear that right?" Gladion huffed, landing next to Wes with Silvally, who was panting a little under his helmet. "We are dealing with a Rock/Steel creature and a Fire/Ghost creature?"
"That seems to be it", Wes nodded at him, looking over. "Any hidden aces up your sleeve? You're the one who knows these creatures best."
"A ground or fighting type move would make quick work of the grey one, but Water moves would also work, zzt", Rotom explained. "As for the ghost-" Rose whimpered at the word ghost, but this was brushed off by the Dex, "-he would be weak to Ground, Rock, Ghost, Water and Dark moves!"
"These creatures sadly lack those moves", Gladion growled. "Of course... if they could just..."
That is when suddenly the beasts reared up, and charged straight towards Wes and Gladion, sensing the faller energy Wes contained and, desperate to return home, mistook him for a portal. Rose and Lillie both screamed, and the two Null trainers readied themselves for the attack, but the helmeted creatures suddenly jumped in the way, shielding their owners from the assault. Instantly, cracks began to form on both helmets, the strong bond they had towards their trainers, and the will to protect them, shattering the limits that the helmets had placed on them before. The restrains blasted off them, sending the Ultra Beasts back, snarling in pain. The two Nulls had grown a bit bigger as a result of the helmet no longer hiding the large, axe-like feather crest, with the hooked, metallic piece and three white feathers forming the shape of the axe. Wes could also now see it's fur was silvery white instead of grey like before, and the silver eyes of the creature were now revealed.
"Wes!" Gladion shouted, taking out a drive case similar to the one that he had given Wes before. "The RKS System should now be active! Use the Memory Drives!"
"R-right!" Wes dove into his bag and pulled out the silver booklet that Gladion had given him and opened it, revealing seventeen discs that all had a type engraved on them. Remembering that both creatures were weak to water, he dove his hand into the booklet and pulled out a dark blue disc that said 'Water' on it, and looked up to seeing that the side of Zero's head opened up to accept a Memory Drive. Wes threw the drive into the air, and it installed itself nicely into Zero just as the same disc was thrown by Gladion and caught by Silvally. Instantly, both creatures changed, the eyes, spikes, drives, and fin membrane of both creatures changing from white to blue instantly.
"The move is Multi-Attack!" Gladion shouted, pointing towards the creatures. "Now, let's drive them off!"
"Right!" Wes shouted, as he too pointed forward, and along with Gladion shouted "Multi-Attack!" Both creatures roared in fury, as their bodies were covered in a blue aura of power, before rushing forward with blazing speed and striking both Ultra Beasts with their claws. The beasts roared in pain, before suddenly the same wormhole that appeared before opened again, and the creatures, sensing it, dove into it before it vanished, the beasts returning from once they came.
"...that is why I have to stay here", Gladion stated, turning to them and nodding. "The RKS System is now active on Silvally, so any beast that appears should be no issue for me, but what mom did just before she left may have weakened the fabric between our world and theirs... that, or Necrozma is attempting to break through to our world. Either way, while I clean up here, I am counting on you three to go after mom."
"R-right", Rose shuttered, recovering from the assault that had just occurred.
"Hey!" a voice rang out, and Wes turned to see Serene, Juan and Chole racing over to them, panting a little. "W-what happened? We heard fighting and-" Juan's voice trailed off and he saw both Null's had changed, no longer wearing the helmets from before. "What is THAT!?"
"Silvally is what I call it", Gladion explained briefly.
"Hmm, perhaps I should make a Dex entry for both Type Null and Silvally!" Rotom spoke up, gleeful suddenly. "Oh boy, oh boy! I get to make Dex entries! Hmm, let's see... Type: Null, the Synthetic Pokemon. The heavy control mask it wears suppresses its intrinsic capabilities. This Pokémon has some hidden special power."
"Very spot on there", Serene commented, staring at Rotom in amusement as the PokeDex gleefully giggled.
"And last but not least!" Rotom turned to Zero and Silvally, the two creatures watching the floating orange device. "Silvally, the Synthetic Pokemon. Its trust in its partner is what awakens it. This Pokemon is capable of changing its type, a flexibility that is well displayed in battle. Although its name was Type: Null at first, the boy who evolved it into this form gave it the name by which it is now known."
"That's... touching that you included me in that entry", Gladion muttered sheepishly.
"You sure Wes is ok with that though?" Rose asked, turning towards the silver haired teen.
"Eh, mine is more of a nickname anyway", Wes muttered, shrugging. "Besides, Gladion is the one who has a closer relationship with them, so he has the right to name them, doesn't he?"
"A-anyway", Gladion muttered sheepishly, somewhat embarrassed about the attention. "We need to get you three to Poni Island. Ms. Wicke will get Chole and Juan back safely to the school, but if you guys are insistent on going after Jason and the others, and summoning the Legendary Pokemon, then we better move!"
"Right!" Rose nodded, and was about to step forward before she noticed Chole suddenly rush forward and wrap her arms around Wes, dawning an annoyed expression as she watched the two fallers interact.
"Wes, please be careful", Chole said, looking at him with tearful eyes. "I-I know you're strong, but I don't like those things..."
"I'll be careful, Chole!" Wes cheerfully said, not understanding at all the situation and why everyone was watching them. "Promise!"
"O.K." Rose coughed, pulling Wes away and matching towards the docks as she emphasized the two syllables. "Let's move!"
"Agreed!" Maple shouted, floating on her tail as she followed her trainer, laughing in amusement at the confusion on Wes' face.

"This is where you two stop."
This sudden statement caused Dulse and Zossie to look confused at one another before turning to Jason, who was staring up at the mountain with a determined expression on his face. The two robotic like blue humans wanted to stay with him, and did not understand why he suddenly was ordering them to remain at the base of a dead tree just before the caves that would lead them to the shrine where they first appeared in the word at. Finally it was Zossie who found the words to speak, "Uh... excuse me Professor Champion Jason? We still have a ways to go before reaching the shrine."
"First, you only need to refer to me as one of my titles, and as I am a student teacher I actually prefer being called Champion, thank you", the teen explained, before turning to look at the two strange individuals. "Second of all, we will soon be followed by my two problem students... and possibly a plus one. Wes and Rose will surely be coming after me, and I have no doubts that Lillie might also be joining them, as she has an attachment to Nebby and might follow just in case she believes the Legendary would help the poor Pokemon."
"You cannot be serious!" Dulse muttered, shaking his head. "What is with you humans? First that woman, now those students. Why do you people just follow your selfish motivations, instead of logic and reason and the orders of your superiors."
Jason had to huff at that, "It doesn't really matter. All that matters is that Wes and Rose will be coming after us, and I need you two to greet them when they arrive here."
"We will crush them, sending them home packing!" Dulse muttered seriously, clenching his fists.
"No", Jason suddenly said, causing both of them to suddenly gasp. "I fully expect you two to lose any battle you have against my students. All I need you two to do is to buy me some time."
"B-buy you some time?" Zossie asked. "But can we just not go to the store for that?"
Jason had to physically tense his muscles to prevent himself from face palming. "I-It's an alliteration, a figure of... you know what? Forget the whole "buying for time" statement... just know that I need you two to stay down here and battle Wes. That will allow me to do what I need to do for my plan."
"Plan?" Zossie asked, confused.
"Not to make you upset, but I do not understand what you are meaning", Dulse immediately spoke up. "I will not follow through with this illogical action unless you explain yourself."
The Kalos champion paused, hesitating briefly, before sighing, reaching for one of the balls hanging on his belt. "Fine. I guess you have the right to know."

The arrival on the fourth and final island was not what Wes was expecting, as instead of a large city, he stepped off the boat to what looked a bunch of boats docked on a wooden, large structure which made up a tiny village of sorts. Wes couldn't see them having school here, unless Kukui was literally planning on having them all live on a large yacht or something, or if they were just going to camp out in the wilderness of a lesson or two as Wes and Rose did whatever trials awaited them on this island. At this point, however, it did not matter, as he looked back towards the boat where Rose and helping Lillie onto the wooden planks and off of the black Team Skull boat.
"You three might want to find the kahuna first", Serene commented from the boat, smiling at them. "The kahuna of Poni Island also protects the altar where Alola's people worship the Legendary Pokemon. I'm sure they will know something that'll help you."
"I take it you're going to stay with Gladion, Serene", Rose said in a teasing way, which made the brunette blush a little.
"W-well, yeah, but j-just to help him protect the foundation, y-ya know?!"
Gladion looked on oblivious at the exchange, before turning to Wes and nodding. Lillie stepped forward, staring at her brother and taking a deep breath before speaking. "Thank you... I'm glad that I finally know why you left, and that you were trying to help Mother and Father. .. but if you'd just told me that back then..."
"I'm sorry", Gladion apologized, looking with regret at his sister. "All I could think about in those days was how Silvally and I had to be stronger, but we'll use the strength that we found to protect the foundation in Mother's place... as for this battle, it is yours now, I know you can handle it." With that, he gave a final nod to them all and started up the boat, slowly inching it forward as Serene waved at them before it gained speed, taking off into the distance and out of sight.
"Poni Island", Maple reminisced, looking around. "I used to come here sometimes to practice surfing until I met you guys. The lack of locals really helped with my concentration... of course, surfing in the air was much more different then on water."
"You got the hang of it pretty quickly though!" Lillie chimed in, smiling.
"You're welcome", Nayru muttered, smirking a bit. "Anyway, we're wasting time standing here... let's see if any of the locals knows about the kahuna and where we can find them."
As they walked forward, it didn't take them long to get stopped by a few tourists who wanted directions. Despite knowing that they would not get any information on the kahuna from them, Lillie decided to give them some information they wanted to know about the islands. After doing so, a Corsola they were with gleefully cheered at them in thanks, causing Rose to smile at the coral Pokemon.
"Welcome!" a voice suddenly called out, causing them all to turn in the direction it was coming from. Standing on top of a blue boat that looked like a wailord was a blonde haired woman, wearing a cream shirt covered in paint marks, and light blue pants. Wes couldn't help but notice that a single, pink streak of paint was going across her face and even seemed to get into her hair, but the woman did not seem to care.
"Oh my goodness!" Lillie shouted, as she began heading down from the top of the boat she was standing on. "I-I'm sorry, who are you?"
"I'm Mina, a local captain on the island", the woman explained, giving a nod and a friendly smile.
"It's nice to meet you", Rose bowed a bit. "This is Lillie, Wes, Nayru and Maple... and I'm Rose!"
Mina looked at the group once over before chuckling a bit. "Alright then, didn't expect you two to be here now, but if you want to do my trial, then-"
"A-actually, that's not why we are here", Wes sheepishly stated. "It's true that we are in the middle of the Island Trial Challenge, but we're actually looking for the kahuna of the island."
"The kahuna..." Mina muttered, looking a bit disheartened. "Well, that's a problem. Maybe you should talk to Hapu."
"So Hapu lives here on Poni Island," Lillie suddenly gasped. "Ok, thanks for the info, Mina!"
"You know Hapu?" Wes asked.
"Actually, yeah", Lillie sconfirmed, nodding at him. "Back when you two were off doing your ghost trial ("Please do not remind me of that day!" Rose yelled), I decided to go to the library in Malie City... unfortunately, I ran into a few of the Team Skull thugs who began harassing me, but Hapu came and saved me! She's a really amazing trainer!"
"Y-you never told us about that!" Rose gasped, staring at her in shock. "W-why did you decide to go there at night anyway!? Oh well... I'm glad you were ok..."
"Now I'm glad I gave you Faye for your protection", Wes chuckled in a joking matter. Lillie puffed her cheeks a little at the joke, though she couldn't help but giggle at Faye, who cheerfully rubbed her cheek at that statement. They followed Lillie around the village as they searched for Hapu, but everywhere they looked yielded no results. Eventually, they decided to go exploring in the wilderness for here, when a sudden gasp from Lillie halted them just before they left. Riding on the back of a brown horse Pokemon with a black and red mane was a small girl, with a brown outfit on, black hair and a purple hat.
"Hapu!" Lillie called, waving to her.
"Lillie?" the girl asked, sliding off her horse and smiling at the blonde. "What are you doing here... oh, are these the two that you spoke of?"
"Yes!" Lillie cheerfully said, smiling and gesturing towards Wes and Rose. "Wes and Rose are my good friends, and they are on the Island Trial Challenge."
"I see", Hapu smirked at them, nodding. "It is a pleasure to meet you two! I am surprised, actually. Last I heard, the school wasn't supposed to be coming here for quite some time."
"Oh, we aren't here for that", Lillie stated. "We're here to see the kakuna, do you know where we can find them?"
Hapu's face fell at that. "Oh... we don't have one on Poni Island", the three student's faces fell at that as well, as the four of them stared at one another, with the students wondering what to do. Then, all of the sudden, Hapu grinned and laughed. "At least, that's what I would've said if you asked me earlier! I just got back from a ritual that made me Island Kakuna!"
"What!?" Wes gasped, looking amazed.
"You could've just told us that, then!" Rose shot back, looking a bit upset.
"Yeah, yeah, but I just wanted to see the look on your faces," Hapu admitted, grinning. "The kakunas are chosen by the Pokemon we worship here in Alola- our sacred guardians, who choose from among the people living on the island each guardian watches over. My grandfather was also chosen for this honor, but he died suddenly some years back, and we were left without a kakuna on Poni... I tried to follow in his footsteps, but I was not chosen by the tapu back then, so I set out on my own sort of island challenge, traveling Alola and trying to grow stronger, and I guessed it worked... Lillie, Wes, Rose... the kahuna you wished to meet is right here."
"O-oh, of course!" Lillie giggled a little. "Then please, Kahuna Hapu, tell us about the Legendary Pokemon!"
That statement forced Hapu's eyes wide open, and her jaw dropped a tiny bit. "You mean Solgaleo, who we pay tribute to at the Altar of the Sunne? But why do you want to know about him?"
"I must go after my mother!" Lillie said with determination. "She disappeared off into some far-off world, and a fearsome creature lives in that world, a Pokemon called Necrozma."
"That's why we must ask the Legendary Pokemon for its help", Nayru explained farther. "Per what we know, it can go back and forth between the two worlds, right?"
"I see", Hapu muttered. She brought a hand to her chin, her eyes furrowing in concern. "So, that might be what Jason was doing here earlier... I thought I saw him briefly as I was heading back, but it was from a distance so I really couldn't tell... hmm, all right, I will tell you what I know, but what I know is not much, just that there is a ceremony held for the Legendary Pokemon at the altar. This ceremony uses two particular flutes to somehow give the Legendary Pokemon power."
Rose suddenly realized something, and pulled the Moon Flute out of her bag and held it up for Hapu to see. "This is the Moon Flute, it seems like Lillie's mom had it."
"Ho!" Hapu suddenly cheered. "That looks to be the flute that used to reside at the lake on Ula'ula. Meanwhile, the other is said to be held on Exeggutor Island... I do not know why there, of all places, but it has been passed down that the island is where it belongs."
"Exeggutor Island... I think I've read about it before", Lillie thought out loud. "It's an uninhabited island off the coast of Poni, isn't that right?"
"Yes", Hapu nodded. "Well, if you want to go there to get the flute, we need to just go talk to the Chief of Seafolk to take a small boat there."
"But if Jason knew about the legend, surely he would have gotten the flute, right?" Rose asked, looking between them all with a frown on her face.
"I don't think he did", Hapu stated. "He may speak our language perfectly, but you have to remember he's not a native. He doesn't know everything about our culture, despite how clever he is. Either way, you have the Moon Flute, and even if he does have the Sun Flute, then it would only mean you'd have to catch up to him. Either way, since we need both flutes anyway, it would help to check just in case."
"That's true, but it doesn't change the fact that Jason is already here though..." Rose muttered, looking chest fallen. "I was hoping we would get here before him, he did tell us to stay out of it after all."
"Let's not worry about that", Wes muttered, looking determined. "We now know that we have the first half of what we need, so no matter what we have to go to Exeggator Island, and meet up with Jason. Come on, guys, let's go!"
