Mikasa woke up back in Hanji's office. She had an IV connected to her, and an empty bag of blood next to her. She sighed, in frustration. Last night was supposed to be the end, but here she was alive.

"My my missy. You gave us quite a scare." Hanji's voice echoed from the office. A very unlike Hanji tone, almost motherly. "You're lucky Sasha found you in time or else you would have met death."

"I suppose I should apologize for this. It was not my intention to worry anybody."

"Are you listening to yourself right now dear. You just attempted to kill yourself." Hanji was in disbelief. "Darling you deserve attention, and you need help. I'm sorry I was dismissive, I should not have been."

"I'm fine," Mikasa was lying through he teeth but she did not want to face the truth.

"No you are NOT." Sasha emerged from the back. "Mikasa I can't deal with it anymore. You are on this path, but I can't let this be your end point. I cannot sit down and watch anymore. If I continue, it would be like am playing a part in killing you as well. Which is not something that I can do"

"That is not true, I know what I am doing." Thats a lie, Mikasa knew it.

"No you do not. This is a testimony to that. I know that you don't want help, but Hanji is the best person that can help you overcome all of this. Seeing as you will not willing put yourself through this maybe you will consider if you are forced."

"Meaning what exactly?" Mikasa could feel the anger erupting around her. Sasha would never betray her trust, would she?

"When I pulled you away from the bathroom, I was able to do it in a way that did not alert others. The only ones that know you are here are you, me, and Hanji. If you do not accept the help we are giving you then, I will tell Armin and Eren everything. Including this and what happened with Captain Levi."

Mikasa wanted to scream. Mikasa knew that if the tables were turned and Sasha had been in her situation, she would have done the same. However the fact that she was being forced into accepting unwanted help, made her want to keep fighting. It was no use however. If Eren or Armin ever found out the repercussions would be more than severe. Both of them would not leave her side, they would ask questions that she was not ready to answer yet and maybe would never be. She was not able to confront them, and frankly she didn't know if she could ever face them again, if they knew.

"You wouldn't." Mikasa tried to resist.

"I care more about you than you think. And if that means losing your friendship but allowing you to live. I am more than willing to sacrifice that, because you are important. And I love you." The Brunette chocked on cry, tears began to trickle down her cheeks.

"Alright, I'll accept help." Mikasa could only hurt a person so much. Sasha deserved better. It was not fair to throw her into the mess inside her head. Sasha had already dealt with enough of her bullshit. She looked down at his ring, wanting to cry.

"Good," Hanji interrupted. "For now you will be needing to sleep here at least for the next few weeks."

Somehow nobody found out about what Mikasa had done to land herself a position in Hanji's office. Everything was kept hush hush, and nobody ever mentioned a thing.

The help Hanji provided not only helped Mikasa get out of the hole she was digging for herself. The therapy also helped the soldier overcome childhood fears, that were so deep rooted that even Mikasa herself was unaware of. Her mind finally had a chance to heal itself.

Hanji knew everything, from the personality of her parents to how sweet Levi could be when it was just him and Mikasa. Many tears were shed, as the information she had kept hidden behind walls of abandonment and disillusionment slowly trickled into the real world. Things, she never thought twice about would often comeback during her chats with Hanji. In that time Mikasa noticed the softness that the titan obsessed Scientist possessed. Not only was she a great asset in the Corps, but she was also responsible for saving her life. If Hanji and Sasha had not helped her through, she was sure that her end would have been sooner. In away Hanji was able to move on because of the discussions Mikasa and she had. Hanji had also lost a dear friend, one who she herself tried to move on from. She and Erwin had both been rattled by losing such a man like Levi. Hanji confessed that all three of them (Levi, Erwin, and Hanji) had not liked each other when they first met, but as time progressed and they remained survivors they had to open up the lines of friendship. Although they would never outright admit it, they loved each other, to the extent of even considering each other family. Even Erwin had to take a step back after Levi's death, he felt incredibly guilty for not only endangering Levi but also being part of his death. Levi had touched many people during his time in the Corps, that became more and more obvious with each confession Hanji laid out. Mikasa wished that he knew, how dearly missed he was. She knew that he wasn't one to hold himself in a high regard, even if that was where he belonged. Not just because of his abilities, but because he was kind. In his own way, she had to admit. But Captain Levi, also gave many cadets the confidence to believe that they could defeat the titans. Even if it was something most of them failed to realize when the Captain was alive. He represented so much, and Mikasa was certain he never knew.

A year after Levi died, Mikasa was finally able to mourn him properly and make peace with his death. It was a relief to all her friends to see Mikasa regain the qualities that made her so unique. She would never the same person as before, nor did she ever intend for that to be the case. Levi had changed her, and there will always be a part of her that will be forever his. That being said Mikasa understood that Levi would never be back in her life like before. It was useless to hang up the rest of her life because of him, yet the memories would always bring her back to the dark spot she tried to escape from. The logical part of her brain urged her to move on, but trying to trick her heart resulted a challenge. Hanji made sure to explain that her emotional connection to Levi was intense and therefore moving on would be a struggle she would deal with for life.

She didn't know how her relationship with Eren rekindled, but after months of spewing her soul to Hanji a sense of normalcy became more welcomed. According to Sasha he would constantly ask about Mikasa well being. Even though he did not know what had been going on with her, he was always trying to find out ways to help. He even went as far as to seek help from Hanji. Mikasa wanted to keep avoiding it but she knew that eventually she had to give the young boy an explanation as to what had occurred. Slowly Eren began to re enter her life. He had changed in their time apart, instead of a rage filled boy he had become a more tempered and patient man. He did not demand an explanation not even once. Instead he had allowed her to slowly open herself up to him once again. It began with training and eventually they were back to being friends. It was like old times Eren, Armin and herself. They did everything together.

She trained more and more, the titans would be defeated. Mikasa would avenge her beloved fiancé, his legacy would continue. With all the enthusiasm she reinvigorated herself to her career, giving it her all and advancing through the ranks at record speed. She became a captain after a few years and became more involved in the planning aspects of the scouts. New scouts and vets respected her devotion and commitment she was a valuable asset to the military and was revered as hero. In the missions that came she constantly proved herself.

After a long day of planning Eren had approached her in a different attitude all together, or maybe she had not noticed how all of the sudden he had become much more timid with her. Then she saw it, the glimmer in his eyes when she spoke.

"Eren are you alright" she asked hoping that her hypothesis was as wrong she hoped.

"Yes," her voiced had broken him out of the trance he found himself in.

"Like I was saying if I can get close enough during the next mission we might be able to-"

"-Mikasa do you ever think about what the real world must be like" he walked in front of her as if trying to read her face. "I mean do you think about how our lives would be if we had never had to endure the fall Shiganshina? What would be of us? what would our jobs be? or who would we be in love with?"

"I don't follow" Mikasa was utterly confused as to why he was thinking like this. They had just been planning the next mission. "I mean if Shiganshina had never fallen we would have gotten live our childhoods with your parents. I would like to think that I would have taken work to help out, and I'm sure your father would have began to teach you medicine or maybe he would have taught me somethings too. I think our lives would be completely unrecognizable. Or maybe it would have looked exactly like this. I mean you did want to join the scouts from an early age. Knowing myself I would've followed to keep you safe" she smiled.

"If I hadn't been so insistent to get myself caught up with the scouts, maybe I would have been able to enjoy those peaceful years. We would have a family to go back to. I have committed several mistakes in my life and they have been quite costly. However I don't want to keep this mistakes going. Mikasa I know we have endured so many losses…" He looked somber, "I have been so blind, to what should have been my biggest motivator; and I am sorry for putting you through such an awful life, Mikasa. All the things you have seen and suffered are my fault because I did not give you much of a choice. But I see now that you never deserved that."

"Eren you are such a big part of my life as well which is why I did not want to let you suffer through it alone. Would I be here if it were not because of you, probably not. I'm not going to lie, but I'm glad I have been a part of it. I have to admit the hardships have been unpleasant and obviously I have not handled it with control…" she paused, "but Eren I wouldn't give up the happiness that scouts has given me for the world." She placed her hand on his cheek, " There is nothing to forgiv-"

Eren's lips crashed onto hers pulling her in for a kiss that was unexpected. His hand moving behind her back and gently moving her towards him. He tasted of mint and smelled like the pine trees he had been training on. Her eyes closed soaking in the moment, it was something she had always thought she wanted. Now facing her face to face was something she never expected. A whistle could be heard behind them, causing them to pull apart just as quickly as the kiss had began. They turned to see Connie and few others cheering at their sudden display of affection.

"ITS ABOUT TIME!" Connie yelled from afar.

Her cheeks burned red everything was just happening so quickly and suddenly. Her mind was just processing at such a slow rate. Eren turned to look at her causing her to scream internally. 'What had brought all of this up' she thought. His eyes timidly tried to scan her reaction.

"I know this is all doesn't make sense," that was an understatement. "It just I cant hide this any longer Mikasa. You have been here the entire time and I don't know why I couldn't see it … But I see it now, I cant live without you. All these months I was forced to not be with you have only taught me that I'm an idiot Mikasa. I'm in love with you."

Once upon a time this was all her dreams consisted of, once upon a time she would've said yes. But this was after she had been through hell and back. This was after she pulled herself out of a long depression that had almost swallowed her into a grave. Dating was the last thing on her mind.

"Eren… I cant" his expression fell. Luckily the rest of the scouts hadn't approached them to talk.

"You don't feel the same way," green eyes begging to be given a chance. "We were meant to be together. Mikasa you are the strongest woman I have ever met, and I know when were younger I behaved like a moron and pushed you away and I regret that I ever treated you like that, but Mika I know that this just feels right."

"Its just were such good friends, what if we mess it up by pursuing something that might not be in the card for us." she was trying to use anything as an excuse to avoid it. Its not like it was impossible for her to have feelings for him, I mean before the captain Eren was the owner of her heart. But she hadn't even told him about Levi, she would have divulge that information if things ever got serious. She was thinking too much, she hadn't even said yes yet.

"One date…" his fingers grazed her arm as if he was trying to persuade with touch, "I will prove to you that this is our endgame. I would be honored Mikasa if you would give me a chance, and if it does not pan out you can make me do anything you want"

"Anything?" Mikasa was tempted. Eren had been refusing to cooperate with some of the experiments Hanji had suggested some that although not greatly important could result in some information about the titan form. She could use that as a way to pay Hanji back for the countless hours she had spent getting Mikasa back in shape.

"If you are not wooed off your feet, I will do whatever you want" he smiled knowing that somehow he was going to get his way.

"Fine," she sighed, smiling because she would not give in.
