I DO NOT OWN LOGAN
A/N: I'd like to give a warning that I do not remember most of what happened in this scene of the movie. It's been so long since I've watched the movie, so this whole scene is the best I can do.
As soon as we reach Yashida's place, the place where I had killed him, we know something is wrong. It's too quiet. As the three of us step from the car, all I can hear is crickets, literally. No guards in sight, and Shingen is yet to be seen. All of this feels off, as if Shingen is expecting us to come after Mariko, which, I guess, would make sense. But why would he want to lure us, or at least my dad, to him? He couldn't have the same goal of immortality, could he?
"I have a bad feeling about this," Yukio mutters, just as Dad starts limping off in the direction of Yashida's old room.
"You and me both," I agree under my breath, not sure if she could hear me. Dad doesn't waste any time. The fact that there are no guards or Shingen in sight doesn't seem to set off any red flags to him, or at least he's ignoring said red flags and doesn't care. But I can't ignore the red flags, and keep my eyes peeled for any sort of movement. Anything that might point to an ambush. But I don't see any. I don't see Mariko either, so there's that. Honestly, at this point, I just hope that she's still alive. I'd like to think that Shingen wouldn't kill his only daughter so easily, but with him you never know.
Once we reach the room, Dad barges in, searching around as if he'd expected to find Mariko or something. And then he has the audacity to look mad that she's not in this room. He should have known that Shingen would have never hidden her in a place so easily found.
"This is pointless," I tell him. "Why the hell would she be here? You know this is a trap." This entire place has "trap" written all over it. from the lack of guards to the quietness and the fact that nobody has confronted us yet.
"Does it look like I give a shit?" he growls. I roll my eyes at him.
"Maybe we should try to look somewhere else?" He doesn't seem to be listening to me. Instead he limps over to the bed where Yashida once laid and looks at it for a moment. I can't tell what he's thinking, but I find out a second later when he starts to slide himself onto the metal and uses the remote that was sitting nearby and turns on the various monitoring screens lined on the wall.
"What are you doing?" Yukio questions, sounding about as confused as I feel.
"I think that viper chick put something inside me. Messed me up somehow." A machine of some kind moves up the bed, and where the scanner thing ran over his body, an x-ray on steroids pops onto the screens. It doesn't show just the bones, but when it runs over the ribs, it shows Dad's heart. An on his heart is this metal parasite, its long tentacles wrapped around it. My own heart skips a beat. How could I have missed this? Why hadn't I known about this?
Dad doesn't waste any time, though, as he immediately starts to unbutton his shirt.
"I gotta get this thing outta me," he states frantically. Yukio and I share a look, and I know that we both don't like where this is going.
"How?" the red head questions. Dad takes his shirt off but doesn't answer her. "Stop, Logan. I saw you die! I'm never wrong. I'm never wrong!"
"Dad I know you think you can live forever but you need to stop," I warn.
"I survived in the timeline you're from," he states. "I'll be fine."
"But we don't know how me being here messed it up! Please, Dad!"
"I saw you die in a room like this with your heart in your hand!"
"I can't just leave her with that freak and killer, Yuk. I'm the only chance she's got."
"No, you're not! She's got me, and that's just as good! We should wait until we're back in New York to do this!" I'm begging him now. I can't lose him, not now. Not after everything I've been through to save him.
"I can't risk it. You're just a kid." And without anymore hesitation he extracts one of his adamantium claws and digs it into his chest. I let out a cry of concern and Yukio is screaming besides me.
"No, stop! Logan!"
"Dad!"
"You're not gonna want to watch this part," he gets out, and then plunges his hand into the open wound. He lets out a cry of pain but doesn't stop. And then everything explodes.
Okay, so maybe not everything. Just the window to my right. Shingen is standing where the glass once stood in full body armor, only his head left vulnerable. And on his face is an angry expression. He looks murderous. He takes a step towards Dad and Yukio and I automatically go into defensive mode.
"Stay away from him!" Yukio warns, but I can tell that the whole thing scares her to death. Though she doesn't back down.
"He killed your master. Put hands on your sister," Shingen spits out. He moves around the table. "And now you want him!" On the last word, he shoves the projector away, cutting off the image that Dad was using to see his heart. I automatically leap over the table and unsheathe my claws, growling at him to stay back. Yukio does the same, minus the claws.
"I can't see," Dad gasps, but we all ignore him.
"You'll always be a beggar," Shingen says to the woman.
"You're crazy," She spits right back. Shingen lunges and Yukio meets him in battle. While she keeps him busy, I work on keeping them away from Dad while he's got his hand in his chest. Every time they get too close I shove Shingen back, honestly not thinking of just ending him right then and there. I'm too worried about Dad and the fact that he's basically performing open heart surgery on himself. I'm unable to move the projector back so that he can see, and even though I can't do much to help, I can't move from his side.
I watch as he struggles to dig his hand deeper into his chest, all the while Yukio and Shingen are fighting around us. And then, finally, Dad pulls the parasite from his chest, his entire hand coated in blood. A look I can't decipher crosses his face, and before I can feel relief, the beeping noise that kept track of his heart went flat, and he stopped moving.
"Dad?" My entire body is shaking, and my heart is fluttering, but not in a good way. "Dad!" I'm screaming now, not sure what else to do. I don't know CPR, I don't think that'd help, anyway. Dad is dead. I failed. What's worse, is that I got him killed before his time
I sense Shingen walking up behind me, and in that moment, an anger so real and intense fills me. Everything that's happened so far has just gotten to me and…I just snap. I turn around and, before he knows what's happening, I stab at Shingen. Unfortunately, he moves at the last second, so instead of my claws plunging into his heart, they only dig into his left arm. Still, he screams out in pain and anger. And before he has a chance to take a swipe at me, I shove him back away from Dad's body, and take another swipe at him, but he knows better, and manages to move out of the path of the blades.
He comes at me, too. He gets a couple of good hits in, but with my accelerated healing it's difficult for him to do real damage. One thing that he hadn't counted on is the fact that, even when his healing factor worked like it normally did, I still healed faster than he did because my entire skeleton isn't covered in adamantium. That fact also allows me to move faster and be more agile than Dad was.
Mariko tries to help, but I can tell she's exhausted, and so I yell at her to stay back. And even though I know she wants to help, she stays back, and I can see her standing by Dad.
"You made a mistake coming here!" Shingen growls. I hate people who feel like they need to talk while they're literally in the middle of a battle. Why do that when you can let your weapons do the talking? "You should have convinced your father to leave when he had the chance." I shout some expletives at him in Spanish, but otherwise don't give him the satisfaction. He knocks me back and I flip backwards in order to keep myself on my feet. And before I'm able to stab at him, he drives his blade through my chest and into my heart. And even though that's not fatal for me, it still makes me freeze for a second, a sharp pain shooting through me.
"Like I said, you should have left with your father when you had the chance," Shingen hisses. "Now you're going to end up dead just like him." And that's when I get the surprise of my life as my dad comes into view from the corner of my eye and stops behind Shingen.
"I don't think so," Dad growls. And then he plunges his claws into Shingen's neck. Shingen drops to the floor. He's either dead or will be within the next sixty seconds or so. I take the sword that's sticking out of my chest and pull it out, breathing a sigh of relief when it leaves my body and I heal.
And then I look at Dad. He's completely healed. Not a scrape or scratch or even a scar to be seen. He's okay. He's alive. And he's looking at me with an expression I can't read. I think it's a mixture between relief and something else.
And in the next second, I've got my arms wrapped around him, my face buried in his chest. I hold onto him tightly, thankful to a god I'm not sure I even believe in that he's alive and that I didn't mess this up.
I saved my dad…finally.
A/N: Hey guys! I'm sorry it took me so long to get this chapter out. I swear it's like I've had no inspiration to write lately, even for my other stories. It's taken me months to be able to write this chapter and I'm sorry that it took so long. But here it is! Again, I took creative license when writing this chapter for various reasons that I won't state because I'm lazy. But I hope you enjoyed. Please review!
