He was drowning. Not the kind of drowning that would happen in a pool of water, but the kind where his emotions completely overwhelmed him. He couldn't tell up from down in this dusty attic. His only cure was a utopia impossibly far. The more he thought about it the more he sank.

Courage.

A curse of a name. Branding him as some infallible being unable to fear the slightest bit of fear. He was supposed to be brave, strong, and a handful of other adjectives lost to him at this moment. How can he be called Courage when he was that exact antithesis. He rolled to his back, Ignoring the obvious puddle of tears that he left in the wake. He faced the wall and covered his eyes.

Another day another villain. One he didn't think he could deal with had been indeed dealt with, but only in the most coincidental means. How could he protect Muriel if all his greatest enemies were always better then him. Every time he has won its been by a stroke of luck very nearly costing his life in the process. Eventually, however the luck would run out. Everyday he hoped it wasn't that day and that he could be the hero.

Everything ended somewhere.

So where did that leave him? Constantly tugging at Lady Luck's dress begging for just a single something. She listened every time but one of these days she would keep walking. Courage Wiped at his eyes to rid of the tears that had long since dried. He trotted over to the computer, Possibly his only partner in crime he could always rely on. He booted the computer up, already preparing himself for the onslaught of insults to be hurled his way. To his surprise and disappointment there were no words said as the blue screen appeared with a basic search box.

He silently moved is paws over the letters on the keyboard.

"How to be brave"

So many results. None of which helped. He tried again. "How to be better"

Nothing

He couldn't use any of this. None of these helped his problem. He needed to be someone else entirely. Someone who didn't fear anything. Someone who could look death in the face and laugh.

He moved to turn the computer off before the screen changed. Letters flowing across the screen and a voice resonating from the monitor.

"You're already those things you dolt. Has anyone else willingly helped a dragon learn to fly?" That caused him to pause. The sea dragon that threatened to eat Muriel. He wouldn't say he willingly did it but.

Had anyone done what he has?

He sat back down on the computer searching "Has anyone brought peace to King Ramses" "Has anyone saved every passenger from a exploding submarine" "Has anyone stopped several alien invasions"

All results besides fake articles were zero.

Zero.

But... he had done those things. He had done all those things so that means...

"It means you're brave you bumbling idiot." Computer said before the screen turned black, plunging the room back into the colors of dusk seeping through the window.

He was brave?

Courage sat the Monitor for several minutes, Thinking about his accomplishments. The people he saved, the places he's been that no one else can say they ever imagined.

Courage thought.

And he smiled.

Welp wasn't that a doozy. Honestly haven't written anything non school related in a hot minute so that was pretty fun. I might continue but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
