I'm back! I hope you enjoy this! Please review!
Percy had lived with Chaos for almost five months. He was getting used to living there, but his heart still ached. He wouldn't see Annabeth for ten years. Well, now more like nine and a half. Chaos and Percy played games nearly every day. They played scrabble, which was difficult for Percy with his dyslexia. They also played checkers and chess and nearly every other game there was.
"What do you want to do today?" Chaos asked, gesturing at all the games on the coffee table.
Percy thought for a moment.
"Can we go outside?" He asked.
Chaos frowned.
"Why would you want to go outside? There's so much to do in here."
"I haven't seen grass or trees in months. I hate being cooped up."
Chaos sighed.
"Alright."
He stood up from the couch and opened the front door. Outside, there was a huge garden. There were flowers everywhere. There were lilies and roses and daffodils. There were also strawberries. Percy picked a strawberry and ate it. It was sweet and delicious. It reminded him of camp. He missed Camp Half-Blood. He missed the strawberry fields and the big house and the beach. Chaos seemed to read his mind because he said, "I can make this yard look like anything or anywhere. Even Camp Half-Blood."
Percy looked at him.
"Can you?"
"Of course I can."
Instantly, the background shifted. Now they were standing on Half-Blood hill. There was the big house and Zeus's fist. Everything looked exactly the same as it was before Percy left. The only thing missing was the people.
"Why aren't the people there?" He asked.
"They are there in real life, but not in this vision of Camp Half-Blood. If you want, I can switch it so the campers are there."
"Yes, please."
Suddenly, campers were everywhere. There were some sparring in the arena. There were some at the beach. Percy saw Grover teaching some young campers about plants.
"Grover!" Percy yelled, waving his arms. "It's me. It's Percy."
Grover didn't pay him any attention. He just went on instructing the campers.
"Why can't he see me?"
"Because you're not really there. This is just a vision."
Percy sighed. Then he got an idea.
"You can make this backyard look like anywhere, right?" He asked.
"Yes," Chaos replied.
"Make it look like wherever Annabeth is."
"Sure."
The background changed again. Percy was in Annabeth's and his house. Annabeth was sitting in one of the chairs. She had a blanket on. Percy figured it was January, so it was cold. He couldn't stop staring at her. She was radiant. Her golden princess curls were tied into a braid. She was reading a book. It looked like a scrapbook. Percy went behind her to look at what she was looking at. It was a scrapbook of Annabeth and him. There were pictures of them in Rome and in Greece. Somebody knocked on the door. Annabeth stood up, her blanket falling from her lap. Percy stared at her in disbelief. Her stomach bulged. There was no other explanation. She was pregnant. Pregnant? She was going to have a baby? Percy remembered that before he went on the quest, Annabeth had been throwing up. Of course. It all made sense now. Percy started to cry, half from joy, half from sorrow. His child wouldn't know him. He would miss most of his child's life. Annabeth opened the door. Piper was on the other side.
"Ready? Piper asked.
"I just need to put this scrapbook away and put on my shoes and purse."
Annabeth put the scrapbook down. Percy tried to put his arms around her, but he just went through her, like mist. He watched as Annabeth put on her shoes and walked out the door. She locked it behind her. Percy and Chaos were alone in the room.
"She's pregnant," Percy said in a half whisper.
"Yes, it appears so," Chaos said.
"You've got to let me out of our agreement. I want to be around for my child."
"You swore on the River Styx. You have to stay for ten years."
"Can't you make an exception?"
"No."
Percy sighed and held his head in his hands. When he looked up, the background was different. They were in a movie theater. Annabeth and Piper were watching Spider-Man: Into the spider-verse. Percy watched it with him. It was like they were watching t together. Annabeth and he had watched so many movies together. He felt close to her. He longed to take her hand, but he knew it would just go through her. When the movie was over, the background changed again. It was Chaos's front yard. The garden was just as beautiful as it was before, but Percy didn't even glance at it.
"Change it back!" Percy said.
Chaos shook his head.
"You've spent enough time with Annabeth," he said. "You can visit her again later."
"When is later?"
"Whenever I feel like it. Now, let's go back inside.
