Sorry for my bad English.
Sometimes I think about how could be with my OCs in the fiction of someone else. How they would react in the situation other authors put the original characters and how they decide to make them act during those situations.
Most of the times what I think is against what was planned, or one of them are scolding one characters. Mostly of the times is not their fault but I think it is like that because of my own ego. It may be different if I gave more thought about it, but it is only things my mind likes to put some thought, so I don't take all too serious.
Enough said. To the fic!
Combat Arena
-Stand still dammit! -Ruby shouts while swinging her scythe desperately, trying to hit Sally who was dodging and taunting the young reaper.
-Miss me! -She taunted. -Miss again. Close this time. Too slow.
-Argh! -Ruby growled. Call Ruby slow was the low point Sally could ever reach.
Ruby may be fast but with Sally's skill in dodging plus her semblance, was almost impossible for someone like Ruby, who fights only in the offensive, to hit Sally, who specialized in dodging her opponent's attacks. Knowing what her opponent will do before he does gives to the gunslinger a chance to think in a counter attack to his opponent's attacks before it even happen.
Sally had just to raise her leg to dodge the blade of Crescent Rose, then ducked the strike of the handle, then she give a step to the right when Ruby tried to hit her with a shot of her rifle. Ruby tried a vertical swing with Sally dodges by giving a pirouette and kicking her on the back of her knee. Standing in her knee, Ruby tried to hit the brunette with another swing of her weapon, only to Sally ducks and kick her on the chest, sending her flying across the arena.
The reaper grunted before heard the sounds of gunfire. Sally pointed both her guns against her and opened fire, forcing Ruby to spin her scythe to block the incoming shots.
The reaper runs after the gunslinger while moving in zigzag to dodge the shots from Sally. Once closer Sally lifted a leg to dodge a cuts aimed to her knee. She shot back at Ruby who ducked the shot and tried to get a cut on her pretty face, only for Sally to duck as well and shot at Ruby, who rolled to the side and attacked once again with her weapon with a vertical swing. Sally dodge with a pirouette making the blade stuck in the floor. Ruby suspended herself with her scythe and aimed a kick with both her legs against Sally, who dodge and kicked her on the back, sending her flying away again.
Sally kicked Crescent Rose from the floor and kicked the scythe in Ruby's direction. Ruby recovered quickly and watched with eyes wide open her own scythe coming to her direction. She was able to of her scythe, spinning while turning around and shoving the blade on the floor once she faced Sally again.
Ruby then went again to attack with her scythe and Sally and prepared herself to block, or made Ruby think she was going to block. Crescent Rose cut only air as Sally stepped to her right dodge the incoming attack and point both her guns and shot Ruby on her knee and arm.
Wasting her energy and aura trying to hit Sally, the shot gave some damage on Ruby's body, now not being able to hold her weapon or use her semblance due the pain in her knee.
-Alright, that's enough. -Glynda called the match right there, seeing no reason to keep further if Ruby was going for the same tactic even if was not working. –Nice time as always, Ms. Highwind.
-Thank you. –Sally thanked and left the arena as the blonde teacher scolded Ruby.
Sally sits besides Unicorn as the class keeps going. That would be the time she high fived Koro for the job well done in the match while saying "Nice job, Babydoll", but both Ryan and Koro still were in the infirmary after their fight in the Forever Fall.
From what she heard from her teachers, the grimms were called Nightmares, a ghost type grimm if such a type really exist. They possess people putting them in sleepwalking state, seeing anything alive as an enemy. Both the ninja and the gunslinger were possessed and fought against each other, seeing themselves as grimms.
She still found hard to believe that there is grimms who could make friends turn against each other with illusions.
It was scary.
She and Unicorn keep visiting their friends in the infirmary after the classes were over. Ryan still has to cover his eye with a bandage and Koro still was not speaking with him. His pride took some damage after losing to his partner in battle.
The thought actually made her giggle.
Once the class was over, Sally and Unicorn left their sits and prepared to leave.
-Ms. Highwind. Ms. Unicorn. You both stay behind. –After hearing that, Sally looks to Unicorn, asking silent if she knew what Glynda wanted. Unicorn just shrugged. As soon the last of their classmates left, Glynda spoke. –I assume you both are going to see your wounded teammates, right?
-Yes. –Sally answered. -They are recovering well.
-I will accompany you both. There is something I need to ask them both.
-Can you tell what about? –Sally asked.
-Nothing for you to worry Ms. Highwind.
Corridors
There is always a reason for every of Ozpin' actions, Glynda knew that. But not matter how hard she thinks, she still could not understand the reason to let Koro apply as a student to Beacon.
While the boy showed some good combat abilities he lacked in everything else, meaning that he lacked in at least nineteen percent of what is needed to be a student in Beacon. But there she was, looking at the boy with one arm, who refused to look in the eyes of anyone else after his little struggle against his partner.
Sometimes she thinks he abuses his position as headmaster.
While she made her way to the infirmary along both girls, she was forced to listening Sally talk non-stop while Unicorn just answered with a word or two, showing that she was a girl of few words.
Once they reached their destination, Glynda and her students saw Ryan sitting with his legs crossed while moving his body back and forward, probably from boredom. Koro was laying on another bed, facing away his partner with a frown on his face.
Both Sally and Unicorn let a sigh while Glynda approached Ryan.
-Mr. Forest…
-I did nothing! –Ryan shouts.
Glynda eyed him confused before look to Sally as if she knew what this was about but only receive a shrug in response. The teacher decides to ignore his statement and began to talk.
-Mr. Forest, all I want is to know how is going your recovery.
-Oh, it is going well. –Ryan answered her but looking to Sally.
-Good, because I need you to make you a few questions.
-I know nothing about a three legged crow.
-What?
-What?
Glynda asked before Ryan, leaving to an uncomfortable silence. Glynda sighed, decide again to ignore his answer and keep going to where she wanted.
-Since there not much statements regarding the apparition of Nightmares, I was hoping that you and your partner could offer a bit more information about the grimms. –Glynda stated as she tried to get from Ryan any useful information about Nightmares.
While Fernando was able to fill some information regarding the grimms, his knowledge of them was still limited. While the combat teacher talk with Ryan, Sally approached her other teammate to see how was going his own recovery.
-How are you going? –Sally asked.
-Like as if a truck has just hit me. –Koro answered.
-Ryan is pretty strong. I'm actually impressed to see you in two feet.
-Still hurt when I laugh.
-At least you are laughing.
-Only of how ridiculous it seems.
-The fact that your partner is a better fighter than you?
-Hey! I was going easy on him!
-You never go easy on grimms, Koro. –The statement made Koro groan. –Why are you so upset about this?
-Allow me answer your question with another question. How come I lose to this? –Koro asked pointing to where Ryan is sitting.
Glynda was pinching the bridge of her nose, having difficulty in getting anything from Ryan.
-Allow me answer your question with another question. How strong a food thief supposed to be?
-Don't change the topic.
-I'm not. While you are busy breaking the rules, I see Ryan doing his best to improve his skills, both academically and in combat. You are not in this school for free food, are you?
-Of course not. I'm here to become stronger.
-And you are?
-How can I become stronger if those classes just waste my time?
-The school is just to give you a hand in your improvement. You need to do something as well. If the academy is not doing anything, then do something yourself.
Her words actually put Koro deep in his thoughts. He came to Beacon to improve, become better so catastrophes like what happened to Cloud never happen again if he is around. But since the day he joined the academy, his improvement was almost non-existent.
He really was doing nothing since he becomes an student? The best he did was learn how to read so far, but what about his combat skills?
It make a while since he practiced with his katana or watched the lessons of his sensei, and maybe was the time to put back his training in day. From what he understood from his leader, Ryan was working hard to keep his skills high and improving.
If the goofy gunslinger could, Koro sure was capable of the same thing. He will have to wait some recovery before it is possible, of course. Until then he will meditated a little, to keep his control of aura as good as ever.
Back at Ryan, Glynda let out a deep sigh.
-Mr. Forest, I highly doubt that bells can have something to do with those ghosts. And we are talking about Ghost Type Grimms, not real ghost.
-So why did you asked about my grandma's ghost?
-I didn't. –Glynda sighed. –Can you tell me anything about the Nightmare that possessed you?
-Well… before all that began, I felt a chill in my spine, and it is not the one I normally felt.
-A chill in your spine?
-Yeah, like the air around me got cold all the sudden.
-And Koro experienced this as well.
-He said that was very sudden, but he felt.
-I see. Thank you Mr. Forest, this information will be very useful. –Glynda said as Yukino, the school nurse, approached.
-No problem. –And Ryan took her hand for a handshake, not noticing that he took the hand of the lioness faunus. –You are using moisturizer? Your hand is so soft.
-Told you. –Yukino said to Glynda in a whisper.
Glynda again ignored Ryan's particular actions and focused in his last statement. If what he said was true, then be caught by surprise by Nightmares will soon be a solved problem.
End of the chapter.
The chapter was suppose to be only Sally talking to Koro but was too small for what I normally do, so I added some action on the beggining with Sally since she did not have much screen time in battle, not with her guns anyway.
Next chapter will have the return of the phantom thief and a new challenger.
That's all folks, see you next time.
