Chapter 6

the night had passed by quietly, apparently Noctis had forgotten about his wedding trauma and was currently in his sweet peaceful slumber. Sleep was the best process to get his mind off worries, it never failed to calm him down and freshen up his thought process.

Kaya had woken up long ago, she was a very light sleeper and having witnessed her own life turn upside down in the last 2 days had taken her calm away. Currently standing in the kitchen and pouring some freshly made coffee she had made for the husband and herself, she continued to rewind the moments of becoming Noctis'. the first time they had met, It was when Noctis had come to confirm the decision of hers about marrying him. the first time she heard him say her name and she knew it was going to be her most favorite sound. the first time he held her hand, that was at the chapel where Regis had handed her over to him. Lastly, the first time they kissed… and probably the last time it was going to happen…

Kaya sighed shaking her head out of these unnecessary thoughts, they didn't matter anymore. Noctis didn't think of her anything more than a responsibility. It would take a lot more than merely kindness and attention to change his mind...

She grabbed the other cup of coffee that was for the husband and strolled off to the bedroom, only to be interrupted in her tracks by the door bell. She frowned, concern surrounding her as she looked up at the wall clock. It was too early for someone to show up, even for Prompto. She didn't know, and wouldn't until she does answer the door of whoever had come and why.

If she remember correctly, it was still around 6, obviously too early for anyone living in the city to wake up so who could possibly be at the door and why.

She looked towards the bedroom then at the main door, wondering if she should wake Noctis up. But then again, she didn't want ruin his sleep. Who knows? It would be too awkward to wake him up thinking it was someone important and a pizza boy to show up having mistaken the address.

"Okay." She added with a sigh and went to place the cup on the coffee table in the living room, adjusting her dress before making her way to the door.

meanwhile Noctis had suddenly started feeling cold, as if the covers had been taken off him, too sleepy to realize that they had dropped off him, due his constant stirring and wrinkling the sheets.

He managed to wake his senses up and gathered enough strength, reaching for the covers that laid on the other side of the bed, pulling them over himself he yawned before shifting and buried his face into the pillow. He needed some more sleep. But sadly the realization was slowly informing him of what had changed, his sleep retreating back to the lowest corner of his mind and to add to it his phone had begun to buzz.

"Kaya…?" He called forcing his eyes open and lifted his head up from the pillow, looking around. Kaya was not in the room and the door was open, the sun light was already invading the living room which meant it was morning.

since the sleep had abandoned him, Noctis groaned sitting up in the bed while kicking the covers off himself and yawned again, his eyes half closed as he stared into the empty space waiting for his brain to wake up so his body could function but the constant buzzing of his phone finally annoyed him to the extent he was frowning and glaring towards it. He didn't remember anyone other than Prompto could be calling him too whom, apparently he had forgotten about.

"Fuck you, Prompt… what the hell do you want so early?" He mumbled to himself unwillingly and grabbed his phone. He unlocked it and looked at it, it took him a good moment to make sense of what was on the screen and once he did, his eyes widened.

He looked towards the door then at the screen of his phone, able to hear the door bell. Kaya should not open the door. Not this time. Not yet!

"What the hell is happening in this world!" He hissed quickly scrammed out of the bed dropping his phone on the floor in the process while rushing out of the bedroom.

"Kaya! Don't answer the doo-"

Before he could even finish his phrase, the door had already been opened and Kaya turned to look at the husband with a worried confused plus surprised expression. It seemed life wasn't in the mood to be kind to Noctis, not right now at least. For it had brought the only person he wasn't wanting to see yet, to his doorsteps.

"Luna? what... what are you doing here?" He asked, forcing a smile as properly as he could before stepping aside to let the guest inside.

"Come on in please." He insisted, his gaze slipping towards Kaya again and again meanwhile Luna did not dare move from the door. Her gaze intently questioning the reason behind Noctis' ignorance for the past few days and a fresh face at her boyfriend's place.

"Would you like to explain to me first why you haven't been answering my calls and texts?" Luna scoffed, not the least bit interested in formalities. She couldn't stop but wonder about Kaya, letting out an exasperated sigh.

"Who is this...Noct?" She added pointing towards Kaya who just looked at the husband, not knowing how to react. Some woman had barged into the apartment and was scolding Noctis, as if she owned him... Who she?

"Noctis..." Luna called again to which Noctis responded with a helpless sigh. He didn't know what to say, he wasn't prepared neither did he think Luna would show up at his apartment first thing in the morning.

Noctis had told Luna that he was going to visit her father, nothing else. But here he was, with a young girl in his apartment making him coffee... for sure Luna was starting to have assumptions by now. He didn't know what to say... He didn't think Luna was to understanding the complication of the situation they were in, him and Kaya. Forget about that, she would be devastated and Noctis didn't want to deal with it, not yet. He took a deep breath, gathering enough courage and placing some trust upon Kaya to try and understand the situation and faked a smile.

"She is Kaya, my uh... my family friend. She is here for her college studies."

Kaya as a family friend didn't seem the worst choice for an excuse but Luna still had questions. She stared at the girl for a moment before turning to Noctis. It didn't matter who she was for now.

"Can she give us a moment? I believe we have a lot to talk about Noct."

Luna was confused, upset and insecure. Noctis had been away for a week, with his father, in an atmosphere where everyone thinks with their mind and even feels with it. She was afraid they might have fed Noctis up with the unnecessary morals and sense of responsabilites which were still a decade away for him to take on. She did not want to lose Noctis to anyone.

Noctis knew how Luna was feeling and knew things were hard for him but the same goes for her. She was always paranoid. She didn't want to lose him, would die rather than letting that happen and when something happened it just added to her insecurities, she couldn't help herself. For now, maybe sitting down with her and talking might help her calm down a bit. Kaya wouldn't mind it. would she? as Noctis turned to ask Kaya to give them space he found her nowhere around. Quite concerned and startled by her absence, Noctis tried to focus on Luna for now.

Kaya strolled back to their bedroom and grabbed her suitcases, she needed something to distract herself with. She couldn't over look the way that girl and Noctis had been interacting. She never got to learn the reason why Noctis did not want to get married, all she knew was that he did not want to take the responsabilites he could not handle. She was a major one for him right now and she knew her being quiet and understanding was not doing anything to help him. Whatever the girl and Noctis had to talk about, it should not be her business, it WASN'T her business so she retreated. Partly because she felt a strange heavy feeling grasp her heart as if something very changing was about to happen. She did not want to think about the many possible reasons as to why Noctis would introduce her as just a 'family friend' to Luna. Maybe he was ashamed of her? It was too heart breaking to think that was the reason. But then again maybe because Noctis did not want to reveal his marriage to anyone around him yet? Or probably... She shook her head out of those unnecessary thoughts and began to sort her clothes out into the closet, making sure not to disturb the arrangements Noctis had.

a while later...

Kaya was still in the middle of sorting her clothes out, she did not have much but the unsuccessful attempts of her trying to save space were failing miserable and she had to start this all over again. She sighed shaking her head and reached for the clothes that laid scattered on the floor as a result of having dropped off when she heard the knock.

"Can I come in?" Noctis asked, standing at the door with a much calmer expression and a possible smile. She shrugged her shoulders and went back to picking her clothes up. It was his apartment and bedroom also, so why ask?

"Its your bedroom so you can come in wherever you want." She replied. Suddenly aware of the possibilities of Noctis wanting to explain why Luna was here so early in the morning. Noctis noticed the dullness of her tone and sighed, making his way inside. He sat down on the bed and watched Kaya curiously, miserable at her desperate attempts to save space in the closet. It almost made him think she was adorable, almost.

"Kaya...are you upset with me?" He asked, thinking she was possible even mad at him. Kaya looked at him, her clothes bunched up into her arms against her as she looked at the husband with a confused expression. She knew she did not have right to, not yet. She shook her head before turning back to the closet and her struggle.

Noctis shrugged his shoulders and looked around the room not knowing how to explain what was Luna to him. Kaya's calm composure and contained mannerism was starting to add to tbe heavy feeling in his chest, feeling of regret even. He hadn't thought this could be as difficult as it is.

"Why would you leave then?" He asked again, looking at the clock which now read 8:36 am and they haven't had breakfast yet. Even the coffee that Kaya had brought for him had gone cold.

"Because she needed me to." Kaya replied trying not to feel upset about the fact that she could see that this Luna was much more important to Noctis for whatsoever reasons.

"But I did not." Noctis replied now looking at Kaya as she finally gave up trying to save space and turned to look at the husband. Her gaze shifting from Noctis to the floor to the wall to Noctis again. It was hard to look him in the eye when her emotions were at the peak of messing her up.

"She seemed important... to you."

Kaya replied, finally gathering enough courage to let her difficulty show. She didn't mind, she just wanted to know... as long as what she thought wasn't the truth. Noctis stared at her for a brief moment observing her features. She spoke more with her expressions than words. Because they never cooperated with each other, making it easy for him to read Kaya. Her expression glistened of anything but upset. It was more like fear. She was afraid of something that Noctis could not seem to understand.

"Do you know who she is?" Noctis asked, reaching for her hand and Kaya nearly fidgeted away from his grasp but did not refuse him.

This was the feeling that Kaya enjoyed and despised at the same time, the feeling of the warmth of Noctis's hand grasping onto her own. Her fingers felt cold, as Noctis tugged at her hand to settle her down on the bed next to himself. Kaya obliged not wanting to seem rude, her gaze fixated onto Noctis' face. She shook her head, she did not know. She did not want to know. For every passing moment of silence from him was confirming her suspicions. Every one of them. He held onto her hand firmly, and really wished this didn't have to happen. Because the revelation of his relationship with Luna would definitely change Kaya's view of their relationship. Her fingers cold and her heart drumming inside her chest, everything felt so heavy at the moment.

"She is Lunafreya, my..." Kaya's heart skipped a beat, fear gouging her senses as Noctis paused, hesitantly. What was he nervous about?

"She is my girlfriend... the woman I am in love with."
