Box, box, who's in the box?

(By CmptrWz)

The group of mercenaries looked at the two boxes in front of them. One was large enough to conceal a human, the other was slightly larger than a shoebox.

"As illogical as it seems," one mercenary said. "I can't shake the feeling that we should be more concerned with the smaller box as a hiding place."

"I have to agree," another said. "Which makes me think that must be a decoy and the larger box is what we should be paying attention to."

"We are overthinking this," a third said. "Just shoot both boxes!"

"Now why would you do that?" came from behind them. "I haven't needed such pitiful hiding places yet, have I?"

None of the mercenaries were willing to turn around to look. Then again, they were too busy staring at the now moving little box.

"Then again, my niece is a different story."

The mercenaries booked it past the boxes down the hall, screaming their heads off. A moment later the large box tipped over, a small shoggoth that could have fit in the smaller box pouting somehow as it crawled out from under it. "How did they figure out that the little box was a decoy?"
