Hello everyone!
I hope you're all doing well.
I'm back with the 10th chapter of this story, and again, thank you so much for following it and leaving me feedback. I truly appreciate that.
And I also just want to say that I was so sad to hear that Chadwick Boseman died on the 28th of August after battling cancer for four years. Rest in Peace Chadwick. Wakanda forever.
Now, without further ado, here's the 10th chapter.
Chapter 10: Dark Skies
"(F/N)…?" Anna whispered as she stared at the floor where you had been just seconds ago.
Kristoff, Hans and Vanessa looked at each other, wide eyed, not really sure what they had just witnessed.
The giant demon looking creature, Elsa who didn't look like a human anymore, and the floor opening and swallowing you whole…. It was almost too much to take in.
Finally, Kristoff reacted and gently grabbed Anna by her arm.
"Anna… we should get out of here…." He said as he helped her get to her feet.
Anna only nodded a bit. She could barely stand so Kristoff and Vanessa helped her as Hans led the way out of the gym.
Outside the chaos had calmed down a little. People had stopped screaming but the sirens from police cars and other emergency vehicles filled the air as they approached the school.
Mr. Weselton was standing by the school entrance as he saw them coming.
"Are you three all right?" He asked and for the first time as they could remember, he showed genuine concern.
"No not really…" Hans confessed.
"What happened? I can't see (F/N), where is he?" Mr. Weselton asked, worried.
"He's… gone…" Anna only whispered.
For the first time ever they could see that Mr. Weselton was genuinely shocked and sad.
Then a police officer came up to them and began questioning them.
After giving him their statements about they'd seen they looked at Mr. Weselton.
"Do you need medical attention?" He asked, but they all shook their heads.
"No… Please… let us just… go home…" Anna almost begged him.
He looked at them for a few seconds before he nodded slightly.
"You can go home…"
"Thank you…" Kristoff muttered.
He held Anna close as the four of them made their way out of the school grounds.
As they were leaving, Anna suddenly remembered Kevin. He was still unconscious in the gym.
Anna began fighting a mental battle with herself. Should she tell them that he was still there so he could get help, or just leave him there? She couldn't deny that just leaving him was tempting. He had bullied and tormented you for years, and now he was responsible for your death and he did not deserve any help after all he'd done. Quite frankly she wished that Kevin would just… disappear.
Anna suddenly shook her head. What on earth was she thinking? This wasn't like her. To wish someone dead was so unlike her she actually scared herself. After a few second of thinking she decided to be a better person than Kevin.
Right before they left the school she turned around to look at and the policeman.
"Uhm… Kevin is in the gym. He is… unconscious and he really needs some medical attention…" She mumbled, her head held low as she left the school ground with Kristoff, Hans and Vanessa.
The car ride home was a silent one. No talking. No music. Kristoff was driving the car and Anna sat next to him in the passenger seat while Hans and Vanessa sat in the beackseat.
Back home Iduna and Agnarr had been worried sick about their children, so when they heard the front door open, they got up and immediately ran for the entranceway.
"Anna?! (F/N), are you ok?! We saw the news…" Iduna asked but they immediately stopped in their tracks as they saw that both you and Elsa were missing, and Anna looked like she was about to break at any moment as Kristoff held her.
"Anna….? Is everything ok? Where… Where is your brother?" Iduna asked, fearing the worst, but hoping for the best. Maybe that you went to spend some time with Elsa, or something like that.
Anna didn't say a word. She just shook her head and walked past them and headed upstairs to go to her room. When she came upstairs though, she looked at your bedroom door.
You were gone. She would never see you again. Never would she be able to burst through that door and annoy you. Make you smile and laugh. And she would never again be able to hug you, ask you for advice or give you advice if you needed. You were gone. She could hardly believe it. She felt empty.
Tears started forming in her eyes as she opened the door. Your room was just as you had left it that morning. Messy and unorganized. Typical for a high school boy. Then she looked at Olaf's cage.
He looked back at her and she walked over and got him out of his cage and sat down on your bed with him in her lap.
Without a word he placed his head in her lap as she continued to stroke his fur. He had heard that there were others in the house so he didn't speak, but he could tell from Anna's expression and behavior that something was very wrong. You weren't back yet either so something was definitely not right.
Anna continued to stroke his fur as she silently started crying, her tears making his white fur soaking wet. He didn't care. Anna needed comfort now and he wanted to be there for her in the way that he could.
A loud scream could be heard from downstairs and Anna immediately heard that it was her mother so she could only guess that Hans, Kristoff and Vanessa had told your parents about your fate.
"He's gone Olaf… (F/N).. he's gone…. He is not coming back…." She was openly crying now and she picked him up and hugged him closer.
A few minutes later there was a knock on the door.
"C… come on in…" Anna said, her voice barely audible. Kristoff opened the door just slightly.
"Hey…. May we come in….?" He asked and Anna just nodded.
"Yes…"
Kristoff opened the door more and he, Hans and Vanessa stepped into your room.
Kristoff sat down next to her on her left side and wrapped his arm around her shoulder while Vanessa sat down on her other side. Hans sat down on your chair.
They all looked at her and Kristoff was the first one to speak up.
"Anna… I think it's time you tell us what's going on. We just saw our best friend, your brother, getting swallowed by the gym floor and Elsa is gone with that… Thing. Whatever it was. You can't keep things a secret anymore."
Anna sighed but nodded. He was right. It was time to reveal what she knew. She closed he eyes for a few seconds as she tried to remember what you had told her.
"Ok… A few months ago (F/N) found an old lamp in a pawnshop that was given to him by the owner. It was old and rusty so he wanted to polish it, but as he rubbed the lamp…Elsa appeared before him." She began. The others looked a bit confused.
"Yes, you heard me right. Elsa came out of the lamp. Elsa… Is not a human…" She looked at them intently.
"Not a human? Then… what is she?" Vanessa asked.
"She's a genie. A 10 000 years old genie to be precise. When (F/N) freed her from the lamp she granted him three wishes. He was quick to make his first wish, and that was to make her into a human since she's never experienced it her whole life. I accidently burst into his room as he was talking to her, and I've known this ever since. He made his second wish when that giant fire struck the city some time ago, and for his second wish he wished for the rebuilding of the city and that the injured would be healed."
"Wait… that was him?" Hans asked surprised.
Anna gave him a sad smile but nodded a bit.
"Yes…well… It was his wish but Elsa's powers..."
She looked out of the window.
"I found out about Elsa when I burst in here as he was talking to her, and I've helped them keep their secret ever since. That's why we had to make up a story about Elsa being French and is an exchange student at our school. But no, as you've guessed, Elsa does not have a family in France waiting for her. She's been here all the time, in (F/N)'s lamp."
It became silent as Kristoff, Hans and Vanessa tried to process all of this.
"I know it is a lot to take in…" Anna mumbled.
"But it's true. Every word."
"Hey… don't worry." Kristoff hugged her.
"We believe you."
"We really do." Vanessa also reassured her, and Hans nodded.
"Yeah, after everything we saw today, it's honestly not hard to believe."
"But, I do admit that I am a bit hurt that (F/N) didn't tell us anything, but I realize now that he just wanted to keep Elsa safe." Kristoff said.
The others nodded in agreement.
"And I must say I'm impressed with (F/N)'s wishes. Such selfless acts. Most people I know would probably wish they were filthy rich, wish for immortality or even superpowers or something like that. But no… not (F/N)…"
A small smile tugged at Anna's lips.
"Well… that's the kind of person he was… A kind and caring person, always looking out for those around him. He might have been a goof at times, but he had a good heart…"
"I can't believe Kevin did something like this…" Kristoff mumbled to himself.
Anna was quiet for a few seconds before she looked at them again.
"Hey guys… I want to present someone to you."
She looked down at her lap.
"Olaf?"
Olaf looked at them before he spoke up.
"Hey everyone. I am Olaf. I am (F/N)'s and Anna's pet ferret and I like warm hugs."
The other's looked surprised but not quite shocked. They had seen so much in so little time that nothing really surprised them anymore.
"And you can talk?" Vanessa asked and Olaf nodded.
"Yeah, (F/N) managed to, sort of, trick Elsa into making me talk, to, I don't know, test her powers."
As he mentioned your name he got a sad expression on his face.
"I'm really sorry for your loss my friends…(F/N) was a dear friend to me too…"
It was quiet for a while as they all tried to process the events of the day.
They could hear Iduna cry inconsolably downstairs and Agnarr doing his best to try to comfort her while on the phone with the police, trying to get some information about what exactly happened to you.
The four friends could only sigh.
"Now what?" Hans asked, and Anna realized she didn't know.
Now what? You were dead and Elsa was gone.
"To be honest… I don't know…" She whispered.
"Maybe we should…"
Her words were cut off as the ground suddenly started to shake violently.
"What the…?!" Kristoff yelled as the ground continued to shake.
"An earthquake?!" Hans asked as he grabbed the bedframe of your bed and held Vanessa close.
Anna held Olaf close to her as she also held onto Kristoff who managed to stay on his feet as he held her close.
A few seconds later, the earthquake subsided and everything calmed down again.
"Is it over….?" Hans asked and they all looked at each other.
"I think so…" Olaf whispered
Anna looked at him.
"Are you okay Olaf?"
He nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"What on earth was that…?" Hans mumbled.
Suddenly there was frantic knocking on the door.
"Anna?! Are you all right?!" Agnarr asked from the other side of the locked door, the frantic knocking continued.
"Yeah, dad, we're, fine!" Anna called back and went to open the door.
Suddenly Vanessa screamed as she looked out of your bedroom window.
Anna turned around again and she ran over to the window with Kristoff and Hans.
"Look!" Vanessa said as she pointed towards the city center.
There, right in the middle of the city stood an enormous castle.
It was a giant black and red structure, glowing in the darkness, making the sky above it pitch black. A moat stretched around the castle, but instead of water it was filled with lava, pulsing and almost spitting flames up to ground level. A long bridge stretched across the moat and the railings on each side were shaped like demon skulls.
It was not a pleasant sight.
"Oh no… I only know of one... uhm… "person" who can do this…" Anna said.
"What?" Kristoff looked at her.
"That...thing or person who took Elsa. He must have made his second wish…"
"Second wish? How do you know it was his second wish?" Vanessa asked.
Anna thought about it.
"My only guess is that his first wish was to become a demon. This must be his second…."
"This is NOT good…" Kristoff said and Anna thought for a few seconds before turning around.
"I know what we have to do…" Anna looked at them.
The others looked at her.
"We need to get Elsa back." She said, both the tone of her voice and her expression serious.
"What? Anna, that's crazy. We can't do that. You just saw that thing!" Kristoff said, almost waving his arms in the air.
"I know it sounds crazy, but what other options do we have?" Anna asked.
"And I know that this is what (F/N) would do. I know my brother. And I'm not doing it just for Elsa, but for (F/N) as well.
Kristoff and Hans looked at each other before Kristoff placed a hand on her shoulder.
"If this is what you want to do, I'm right here with you."
Anna just looked at him and nodded before she hugged him.
Hans nodded.
"Well, that's enough for me. Count me in as well."
Anna then looked at Vanessa.
"You don't have to come if you don't want to. I mean, I don't want to drag you even further into this, and, I know you're new to the group…"
Vanessa just smiled a bit and hugged her.
"I'm not going anywhere. I'm with you to the end, Anna." She said reassuring.
"Besides. I'm already dragged into this, aren't I?. You can count on me."
Anna managed to give her a smile.
"Thank you so much."
"Let's go to your room and make a plan on how to recue Elsa." Kristoff said and they all agreed.
Just as they were about to leave your room Anna's phone rang and she looked at the screen. It was an unknown number. Shaking her head she hit the end call button, but it didn't work.
"What the...?"
She tried again but it still kept ringing
"...ok then..."
She hit the answer button and held the phone to her ear.
"Hello?"
It was silent on the other end
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
Still no answer. Anna sighed.
"I'm hanging up now."
Suddenly Anna's eyes widened with shock and disbelief at the sound of a very familiar voice, and she could only muster one name.
"(F/N)…?"
Didn't see that coming, huh?
I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and if you want to know what happens next, I'll see you all next chapter.
Take care everyone!
