There are rules... (By Galdric)
"And remember, I expect you back here at 12 sharp on Tuesday for the next summoning!" was the last thing the girl heard as she followed the minion out of the office.
"So... Demons?" she asked as she rubbed the circulation back into her wrists.
"Yes Ma'am" was the reply from the minion.
"Daddy was going to sacrifice me to demons!?" she said as her voice rapidly rose to a shriek.
"Yes Ma'am."
With that reply she calmed down. "Right," she snorted "Funny prank, but do you really expect me to believe that Daddy would sacrifice me to demons?"
"Well to be fair it's not as if you would have been harmed." the minion replied "Plus I believe the CEO did find the look on your face to be amusing."
"Really." she ground out in an irritated voice. "Funny. Great. Then why exactly did I need to be tied to a chair as a sacrifice for a summoning."
"Union rules I'm afraid Ma'am." was the reply she heard.
She stopped for a second at the deadpan response from the minion. As he continued walking down the corridor she quickly moved to catch up with him with a simple, flat, "What?" dropping from her mouth.
She closed her eyes for a brief moment and took a deep breath before asking "Since when to demons have union rules?".
"Since they unionised I assume, Ma'am." came the quick response.
She began to glare at him as they walked through the hallways to the payroll department and the minion, after taking in her slowly worsening disposition, sighed and elaborated on his reply.
"As much as I'm sure you're currently blaming the demon union for today, I'm afraid it wasn't them that put the rule for a human sacrifice in place."
"Really?" she blinked in surprise. "Then what blasted union did put that rule in place?"
"The Angelic union."
"What." She'd been saying that a lot in the conversation. As her frustration continued to build she burst out "But why would an Angelic union make a human sacrifice a requirement for summoning demons?!"
"Apparently they were getting frustrated with a certain Family of greater demons wandering in and out of our dimension all willy nilly and so they got together and whined at the Family until they agreed that demons could only be summoned if there was an unwilling sacrifice present." the minion explained.
At this the girls eye began to twitch as she could feel a headache coming on. "That is quite possibly the most retarded thing I've ever be forced to hear."
"You'll note that the agreement only required an unwilling sacrifice to be present at the summoning. Nothing was said about the sacrifice participating in any way, and BBFO Demon Supply has rules about any harm coming to the required sacrifice. Which mainly boil down to Don't." the minion continued to explain.
Thinking about what the he had said she came to a sudden realization. "Wait! How would Daddy know I would be an unwilling sacrifice?"
"Ma'am I would remind you that he is you father and he knew about your planned day out shopping with your school friends today." The minion paused for a moment. "Also he knows about Ricardo."
At this she froze as a small squeak could be heard emanating from her throat.
"Ricardo?" she nervously laughed, "Who's that?"
The minion just turned to face her frozen form and raised an eyebrow. "Ma'am, you are the heiress to an extremely large company. You have bodyguards. We do perform background checks on people that get involved with your life."
"Right" she sighed with a scowl as she briefly looked down to the ground. As she gathered herself back together she said to the minion "Right well lets go get some pocket mone- I mean get paid for today's truly difficult work" before continuing to walk towards the payroll department.
As she walked in silence with the minion her curiosity began to build.
"Why exactly" she asked "is Daddy summoning a Demon anyway?"
"They're representatives for Dragon Industries. As you know Dragon Industries provided us with our new information technology solution for our company and BBFO Demon Supply not only did the installation for us, they also hold the contract for equipment maintenance which came in at a truly competitive price."
"Seriously?" came the slightly incredulous question from the girl.
"Yes. Seriously." was his deadpan response.
A tired sigh was all she could manage after hearing that. "Dammit Daddy" she muttered to herself. In a more normal tone of voice she then asked the minion "Wait a minute - if Daddy wants me back for the next summoning then how will he know I'm not there willingly? I mean today at least he dragged me out of a shopping trip with my girlfriends."
As the minion stopped and turned to look at her she couldn't help but pause as she noted the slight smile on his and the sadistic gleam in his eyes.
"It's quite simple Ma'am." he said "You see I believe when he next sees you in the office he's planning on having a... discussion with you about Ricardo."
"Oh?" she squeaked out as her eyes widened and her shoulders hunched in.
"Yes. An in-depth discussion I believe."
For a moment all she could do was stand there and blink at the minion. With a nervous laugh she resumed walking, at an admittedly faster pace then before.
"Right, well places to go, people to see, things to buy!" she exclaimed in a slightly high pitched voice.
"Indeed Ma'am." she heard from slightly behind her as the minion resumed walking.
And with that she rushed to the payroll department, hoping to leave the building before her father changed his mind and decided that now would be a good time to have that "chat".
