"NO!" Prince slam his fist on the master control panel in rage, "How can this be?! That flying bag of bolts should have been under SIGMA's control! I should have destroyed the device before I had the chance!"
Dynamo just entered the control room, "Man what a work-out," he said loudly, "sucks that X & Zero didn't show up though... but at lest I get to spar off with a babe."
The Prince of Repliforce focus is on the large screens. Dynamo looked around the mess, "Must have been quite a party," he noted all trashed equipment on the floor.
Prince slowly got up as he put on his calm collected demeanor, "Your back so soon my league..." he sneered at the last word, "Did you at lest take care of that weapon of theirs?"
"What are you my mother?" Dynamo jokingly shrugged, "I was out an about having fun that's all."
"I see... well... you are aware by now that Shining FiryFly have been cured?" The Prince of Repliforce turned around to face Dynamo.
"So what? Those Maverick Hunters are just lucky that's all and besides they wouldn't of gotten this fare if not for their human helper."
Prince was taken aback but maintain is composure, "Human Helper you say?" Dynamo clapped his hands and instantly the screens switch to an image of an energetic blue haired woman in a blue dress while wearing a lab coat over it. Prince is livid, how in the world a human, let along a female, was able to splashed her miracle cure onto Shining FireFly and work?
Dynamo burst out laughing, "Hey don't be too worked up over it, Sigma knows that woman is a chip off the old block. Last time me and guys have been trying to kill the babe but those former Repliforce guys got in the way."
"Former Repliforce?" Prince raised a brow, "Ah, yes, I remember hearing about them in the daily papers..." he said thinking out loud, "Funny I do not recall a Human ever a threat to Sigma, but perhaps she's 'chip off the old block' as you say..."
"Don't you want to know who her relatives are?" Dynamo laughed, "Apparently it's a government secret but not for us Mavericks!"
The Prince scoffed, "Unless that woman is the daughter of Sigma's Creator then I couldn't care less on whom she-" the Maverick trailed off when start to remember something, "Wait that name!" he turned around to take a looked at the ID on the screen- what? Doctor Eloy!?
"THAT WOMAN!?" Prince slammed his fist once more on the panel.
"Oh, you know her," Dynamo said.
"Doctor Eloy is one of the core few that helped created Colonel and Iris. That woman must have known Iris's data by heart and used whatever theory she learned from Iris to perfect a cure!" Prince clench his fist, "I had that insolent bug right where I want him! As for the human I'll have her head for this!"
"Hmm quite fascinating," Dynamo remarked, "But theory alone isn't enough to cure everybody before the colony hit the earth," he shrugged, "Unless you're worried that Maverick Hunters could pull off a feat like stopping an earth-shattering collision."
"If I don't know any better sir," Prince turned around to face Dynamo, "You don't seem to appreciate the gravity of the situation."
"Yea well," Dynamo turned to the exit, "I should be baffled that an insignificant single non-combat Reploid could be the ultimate source of our problems, but Sigma wants us to keep the little lady around for a bit, at lest until Zero shows up." Dynamo waved at Prince as he took his exit.
As the automatic doors close Prince he turns his gaze back to the screens, "So... Doctor Eloy is Iris's co-creator... interesting."
"Wouldn't that make the human part of Project Excalibur?"
The Prince's eyes darted the other way not looking back, "How long you been watching Dark Necrobat?" the said Vampire Bat Beastialoid emerged from the shadows.
"Long enough, my lord. You seem to quit unnerved to see that old bug back to his normal state."
"Humph, to be far no one ever thought a human could pull a feat such is this... but it wouldn't really matter what Shining Firefly dose at this point."
"He will be Maverick Hunters new ally no doubt," Dark Necrobat narrowed his eyes at his one and only master.
"There were just lucky that's all. I don't see how Shining Firefly could help their meaningless efforts to stop the colony let alone contain the SIGMA virus. They can keep him for all I care," Prince smirked.
Dark Necrobat crossed his arms, "As for the human?"
"Deal with the carbon base pest," Prince said firmly.
"Easier said than done, my lord," Dark Necrobat remarked.
"Then make yourself useful and guard the Egyptian fuel reserve," Prince turn around to face the bat,"I suspect that Maverick Hunters would need it to power their shuttle very soon."
Dark Necrobat rises a brow, "At your command, my lord," he bowed and took his leave.
Maverick Hunters HQ
Command Center
"At last the Enigma has been completed!" Douglas said, "It's old, but we reinforced it with some devices... It should work fine... Well, we're ready!"
"WOW," Screw-Ball clapped, "This piece of junk is going to save us all. Guess I'll pop the champagne."
Dougles's face deadpan at the floating ball-droid.
"Hey, I never said to wouldn't work," said Screw-Ball. Alia rolled her eyes at them, "I'll contact X and Zero to the Command Center, their at the medical lab with Shining Firefly and Doctor Eloy" she said to Signas.
"It's best to bring the Doctor along, never need to be too careless with a former Maverick around."
"Agreed," Alia nodded.
...
Megaman X, Zero and Doctor Eloy showed up at the Center to watch the screen. Eloy's watch with amazement at the size of the Enigma. Douglas can tell that Eloy was pleased with the hard work he made, not like he's fishing for approval or anything.
"The time has come at last! We are going to launch the Enigma. The fate of the earth depends on it," Signals said.
"The Energy, the power, the angle... everything is clear," Alia announced as she gave her commander the thumps up.
Signas nodded, "All right... Blastoff!"
From outside the Enigma fired a high concentrated light blue energy, the blast can be seen from the dissents. On earths orbit the blast hit the colony in spectacular explosion, enough for everyone on earth to see it, including General Skuld and Private RiCO at the Repliforce Air Base.
Back at Maverick Hunters HQ command center the screen went static, "Did we make it? Did it crash? Alia, give us a report."
"Negative! We destroyed only sixty-two percent!" Alia said aloud, "We have merely made it change orbit... and delayed the time of impact..."
Everyone in the room became disappointed, Zero was the first to speak, "Curses."
"Awe man," Screw-Ball made a nervous emoji, "but hey 62% isn't half bad," the droid gave Douglas thumps up, "You did good buddy, you did good. To bad wear all going to die."
"The Enigma was not successful?" Douglas ignored Screw-Ball's silly panic banter. Screw-Ball was about to say something but X beat him to it.
"No, but we have a back-up plan," X said. Screw-Ball blinked in surprised as X continued, "Let's concentrate on our next move!"
Signals nodded, "All right! We will execute the Shuttle operation. Don't give up hope! The future of the planet depends on us!"
The screen shifted back to the world map.
Alia brought up a hologram of the Space Shuttle, "The Space Shuttle Operation. The shuttle will approach and fly into the colony... the pilots will eject the last minute. It's very dangerous because they could get sucked into the blast. In the end, I fear that this will fail just like the enigma. We need to gather as many devices as we can to strengthen the shuttle's power. But the Auto-Pilot function doesn't work..."
Signas, "Okay, gather as many devices as you can."
Douglas, "We'll try to upgrade it from here. This is the last chance for us..."
Signas, "I know this mission is hard for you all, but the important this is for us to stay optimistic... Now, let's get to work!"
Repliforce Air Force Hanger
Russ had approached the hangar bay normally she carries her favorite assault plasma rifle, but she settled for a laser pistol instead. The former officer of Repliforce looked around the area as she walked, the unused star-fighters, bombers and Hover-Fortresses have been left unchecked. Sunshine beamed down on the open ceiling as she stopped.
"Catch!" Russ whirled to her left and catch the assault plasma rifle on hand.
"I believe you're going to need this."
Russ rolled her eyes, "You know I've already to have a pistol..." she to place the weapon on her back gear, "Also could you turn on the lights? If you're going to spend the rest of battery life here at lest make it more inviting."
The Pegasus Bestialoid clapped his hands for the lights in the hanger to turn on, "Sorry sometimes I prefer not to use any energy when the sunlight is present. It allows me to brainstorm ideas but mostly to ponder certen things..."
"Yea well I was just here to check up on you," Russ said, she looked around once more, "General Skuld told me that you not contagious. What that about?"
Spiral Pegasus nodded, "Indeed, the SIGMA Virus is not contagious, but that doesn't I could restrain myself from hurting someone."
Russ sighed, "I know you Spiral Pegasus, you're not the type to give into Sigma," she crossed her arms.
"Still..." Spiral Pegasus looked down on the floor for a moment, "Have you heard about Burn Dinorex?"
"Yea, but Commander Signas didn't know whatever he is infected by the virus or not," Russ look the other way, "All we know that he violated the three sacred laws."
"Then it's safe to assumed that Burn Dinorex is a Maverick on his own accord," Spiral Pegasus clenched his fist, "Killing those innocent people in Africa..."
There really no way out of this Russ has always known the path that Burn Dinorex was taking was dangerous only because he lacked empathy.
"Colonel always told us there always good in human's and Reploids," Russ said, "But X & Zero will have to sort this out with him," Or she will.
"I agree... he's to out of control for even you and me. I personally prefer the peaceful way but I imaged nothing is off the table," Spiral Pegasus said.
"Yea sure," The female Reploid smiled, "You wanted to see the end of him. But enough about pea-brain, Its nice to know that your still you so far..."
"I'm glad too and cautiously optimistic."
Captain Russ and Spiral Pegasus talked about the status of the mission of the Enigma Weapon which have assumed that Maverick Hunters already resolved. The Captain found a crate to sit on while Spiral Pegasus briefed her the many tasked that his company did to helped the refuges in the base as well as supporting General Skuld and his men in the area. Things have gotten so bad with the Virus and the Mavericks early on the Skiver Unit did what they could to staved off the enemy before the golden shield barrier was up.
Russ was thankful that she and Cavalry arrived before it gotten any worse.
Maverick Hunters HQ
Command Center
Every one able in the room, except for Doctor Eloy who have returned to the R&D to work on the plans while waiting for Shining Firefly recovery, stood in attention.
Signas, "let me describe the four Mavericks that have the device to upgrade the Space Shuttle." Alia brout up four screens of the other Maverick.
The first one is a Plant Beastialoid named, "Spike Rosered, aslo kwone as Axle The Red. Details Unknown. He carries a concealed Orbiter Engine."
Then the secant one is a is a T-Rex Beastialoid named, "Burn DinoRex, a weapons storage guard. He owns a Booster for Rockets. Its worth noting he's been sited in Africa burning down villages and been engaged with illegal activity with criminals."
X frowned at the image of Burn DinoRex's ID, to him Burn DinoRex reminded him of Flame Mammoth but the only diffrence is that Burn DinoRex was part of Repliforce and Colonel had trusted him.
The third one is a Pegasus Beastialoid named, "Spiral Pegasus, Repliforce Air Force and close ally of Captain Russ of Unicorn Squad. An Orbiter Wing is in the base. Russ is currently station there, supporting General Skuld of the national guard and the civilization refugees camp. Alia will inform the Captain about the Orbiter Wing and for her safety will not engage. I do not expect Spiral Pegasus to attack her even in his Maverick state however we should never be to careless. Therefor MegaMan X and Crimson Hunter Zero will have to acquire it themselves."
The room remaind silent while Signas continued, "Dark NecroBat, A mysterious Maverick. He has Fuel Tank. We Have little time but... We have to gather as many devices as possible."
Repliforce Air Force Hanger
"What this?" Russ asked as she examined the floppy disc.
"A message from Colonel, General Skuld has been in possession of it since the last war ended," The towering Pegasus Beastialoid explained.
"No surprise," Russ remarked, though she never thought the military could be involved in direct matters regarding the aftermath of the conflict, "Half of our Repliforce was funded by a high level of government. Not sure why the General have Colonel's diary, though..."
"He kept it with him after he led his forces to raid what's left of our old abandoned headquarters."
"Ah," Russ then heard a 'ping' from her com-link and reached her earpiece, "This is Russ. Oh, Alia I assume the mission is done?"
Alia: I'm afraid not the colony is still heading towards earth.
"Wait, what?" The female Repliod Captain was almost at a lost for word
Alia informed the situation to Russ via com-link while Spiral Pegasus turned looking around for anything that could jump them. Though the Beastialoid had no reason to be concern as they are in a safe of places however he will not allow himself to take any chances.
"Thank you, hold on," Russ turn around to face Spiral Pegasus, her gloved finger still on the earpiece, she then notices that Spiral Pegasus scanning the area, "Is there something wrong?"
The Beastialoid paused for what it appeared to be longer than a minute he then snapped out of it, and turn around to face Russ "S-sorry I thought I saw something."
"Is it bad?"
"No it's fine... but just to be safe is it possible that you stay at lest twenty feet apart from me?" Spiral Pegasus suggest.
Russ blinked in surprise "I... guess. You'll tell me if something wrong right?"
"Of course Captain!"
Russ slowly nodded and walked twenty feet, the hanger is big enough, after she was in enough dissents from her Bestialoid Comrade she resumed with a sigh.
"So Alia, are you sure Iris is alive?" Russ ask calmly.
Alia: Yes I know it's hard to believe, but the Mavericks had planned it this since the last war.
"I'm sorry... I'm a little unease. You're telling me that those rumors, propped up by Mavericks, is actually true?" Russ closed her eyes she was a tad miffed that Signals didn't tell her as soon as he found out about her true friend. Still the thought of Iris being alive had made her excited that she barely couldn't contain it but at the same time terrified.
"How is she doing? Is she alright?" Russ asked axeusloy. Alia sighed through the coms.
Alia: My readings can still link to her ID, Iris's primary functions are very good she just needs to be activated. Her location on the other hand is very tricky, and may require dealing with four more additional new powerful Mavericks. X and Zero are the only one's that can deal with them, but with the impending disaster they are busy gathering the parts to upgrade the shuttle and ram it into the colony.
"Is it possible that my group and I can find Iris?" Russ offered.
Alia: Unfortunately it's not a mission priority and would posed a lot of unnecessary risk of life... Just hold on a little longer until we deal with the space colony.
Russ nodded, "Okay..."
Alia: I'm sorry We didn't tell you about Iris sooner but you know...
"I get it," Russ laughed heartily, "Regarding the current primary mission can I inform Spiral Pegasus about the Orbiter Wing."
Alia: It would save us a lot of time if you take the Orbiter Wing, but sadly it would be too risky, so you can inform your friend but let X and Zero deal with it for now.
"Alright," Russ simply shrugged, "I'll tell him, and wait for X or Zero to show up."
Alia: Just be careful, my intuition tells me that things could go wrong at any moment-
Suddenly their connection was cut off.
"Alia? Alia?!" Russ eyes widen in surprise, she quickly turned around to face Spiral Pegasus, "Hey, my connection got cut off!"
"I knew it, someone was here, and it's not an organic," Spiral Pegasus focus was on the mysterious person in the shadows. "What?" Russ ran up to the Beastialoid with her laser rifle in hand and to blast the intruder.
"Is that a way to tread an old pal," Said the male figure.
"Who are you? This is a restricted area!" Spiral Pegasus put up his battle stance while his wings flexed. The figure sighed and proceeded to walked forward.
"How disappointing even two of the stanches loyalists of Repilforce don't even know who I am," That figure revealed to be the Prince of Repliforces.
Spiral Pegasus eye's widen, "Prince? But I thought you were-"
"Dead? Oh please," The Reploid Noble brushed off the surprise look on that white donkey's face, "Do you really think I will go down that easily after the tragedy befallen of our dear Lady Berkana?"
"Berkana?" Spiral Pegasus was confused, "Why would you uttire the name of someone that killed a lot of people, including our own?"
"Sorry to interrupt but mine telling me who is this jack-in-the-box?" Russ asked Spiral Pegasus as she pointed her laser rifle at the fancy wearido.
"He's the Prince of Repliforce... You probably heard of him before."
Russ blinked, "The same guy that wanted to marry Iris and take over Repliforce, that guy?" The Beastialoid simply nodded.
"Sheesh, I and here I thought greene took a big 'L' and shot himself in the head after General tore up his arranged marriage," Russ rolled her eyes.
"Worst then that, he was force to leave in disgrace," Spiral Pegasus added.
The Prince of Replifoce scoffed, "I was third in line to lead Repliforce but only if I'm were to marry Lady Iris," he smelled the red rose, "Ah yes she would've been a fine queen indeed."
"Guess you still haven't taken the hint that Iris isn't some kind of object for you to take," Russ hissed.
"I can assure you that Iris would have had a better life if not for choosing Zero over me, her brother would still be alive, but it already too late to amend what was a grave mistake. Wouldn't you agree Spiral Pegasus?"
"Your words only showed why you are unfit at ever holding a leadership role. You've acted like a Maverick which you probably are one, considering the fact that you did committed fraud and corruption."
"You fools still believe what General tells you? I may be a Maverick but I'm more intelligent than that old rust bucket!" Prince's burst out laughing
Russ has just about had enough of this Royal dunderhead, "All right this has gone long enough now I'm going to ask you to leave pretty boy before I blast you."
The prince raised his hands, "But don't you want to know why I am here?" with a wicked smile.
Russ grunted in annoyance, "Fine, what are you doing here?"
"To tell you that I have Iris under my custody," Prince said, "and to recruit both of you back to the fold."
Maverick Hunters HQ
Command Center
"Any luck Alia?" Signals asked. Alia shook her head, "No I can't raise her nor Spiral Pegasus."
This is not good.
Zero stood in attention, giving that X and Marty have left to retrieve the Devices for the Shuttle, Doctor Eloy and Screw-Ball return to Medical to tend to Shining FireFly. Zero gotten a lecture from Signas for almost killing the then Maverick Shining FireFly.
Signals turn to Zero, "I need you to head over to the old Repiforce Air Force Base and retrieve the Orbiter Wing and bring back Russ safe and sound. Can you do that Zero?"
"Yes, sir," Zero saluted and took off in a hurry.
