"There has got to be some way of escaping." Frida said as she searched the walls for some sort of opening.

"Believe me if there was one I would have escaped long ago." Maria sighed.

"Well I'm not one for giving up." She glanced down at Maria's body, examining each injury mark that was on her. "Those all must really hurt huh?"

"Yes but over the years I've gotten used to the pain."

"You know I might be able to heal those. May I try?"

"You may but I doubt that there's much you can do."

Frida put her hands on where Maria's injuries were and by magic they all healed instantly.

"Incredible." She said. "You really did descend from the angels."

"You know about my family?"

"Only bits and pieces. Tell me have you heald any of my son's injuries?"

"Plenty of times. He gets hurt a lot but I'm always there to fix him up."

"I wonder what he looks like now. Last time I saw him he was just a boy."

"But I thought you were able to look in on him sometimes."

"Yes but I only get brief glimpses. I got a close up on him once but it was too dark for me to see him clearly and that was the first time I saw you."

"When was that?"

"When you two fell asleep in the woods. It was about a year ago."

"Oh...That!" Frida blushed.

Maria looked up at her head.

"Well what do you know, my kiss is still on your forehead."

"Your kiss?"

"I kissed your forehead for luck. Of course you didn't feel it. Being married to a spirit like Rodolfo granted me some powers. Not strong but useful, one of which is that demon magic can't do me any harm and if I ever kissed a mortal on the forehead then as long as that kiss remained demon magic can't harm them either."

"Oh...Well thanks but why did you do that?"

"Because of what you were doing for my son."

"I don't understand."

"As you know my boy is half spirit and half human but almost since the day he was born humanity has shown him hatred and cruelty. Calling him a monster and persecuting him like one. I remember once when he was eight an angry mob wanted to kill him, had it not been for the laws protecting the sanctity of the church where we lived they would have succeeded. On that day Manny told me that he hated humans and that he wished that he was a full spirit. I held him and reminded him that not all humans were horrible and that I his human mother loved him more than anything in the world. You see I kept him from hating humanity, I was a reminder to him that there is good in humanity."

"But what does that have to do with me?"

"When we were seperated I lived in fear of my little boy growing up to hate humanity, to hate a part of himself, to wish that he had never been born. By the time he was fifteen I could sense that he was headed down that path but then he met you. You showed him that there was goodness and love in humanity, that his human half was just as important as his spiritual half. You kept him from hating himself and from giving into that little speck of demonic darkness in his heart. For that I'm forever grateful to you."

"Well it wasn't just me you know. He has other human friends."

"Yes but you're the one who never gives up on him. You see the good in him no matter what he does and he needs that but now I fear the worst for him because you've been locked away here with me."

"No. We are getting out of here and if we can't escape on our own then I'm sure Manny will find us."

"I admire your hope but I fear that no one will be able to find us."

"You don't know Manny like I do. He won't give up, he'll find me. No matter what happens, no matter how long it takes, he'll always find me and I'll wait for as long as it takes."

"The way you talk about him reminds me of when Rodolfo and I were together. Whenever I was in danger I always had faith that he would come for me. Part of me is surprised that he hasn't come to save me during these past three years. I'm scared that something has happened to him."

"What was he like?"

"He was a wonderful man. He had such a strong interest humans. He always said that he thought humans were luckier than spirits because they could live life the way they wanted to. They had no obligations toward the earth, they didn't have to keep hidden, they didn't have to worry about getting angry or sad because their emotions didn't cause disasters. He didn't think humans were weak in fact he thought that they were stronger than spirits because they didn't need special powers to fight and live on in the world."

"Gee I never thought of it like that."

"He never meant to fall in love with me. He knew a relationship between a spirit and human was forbidden but I guess his heart couldn't help it and neither could mine. We had such plans when we got married and I got pregnant. He was going to become human, we were going to live together, teach Manny how to walk and talk together, send him off on his first day of school, teach him how to ride a bike, celebrate Christmas and birthdays with him. But we never got a chance to do any of that together."

"I'm so sorry."

"It's alright. Deep down I just want him and Manny to be okay wherever they are."

"I'm sure they're fine."

...

After Frida didn't come back for a long while Manny decided to look for her. What he found strange was that for some reason he couldn't pick up her scent anywhere. Where was she? He was starting to get worried so he gave T.J and Andrea a call informing them of her disappearance.

"Why does this always happen?" Manny thought to himself as he searched for her.

His nose picked up a scent but it wasn't Frida's. It was Nicholas's. He followed his cousin's scent and he found him searching the woods for something.

"Nicholas what are you doing here?" Manny asked him.

"None of your business." He replied.

"Sorry I asked. Listen have you seen Frida? She walked off somewhere and now she's gone. I can't even track her scent."

"So she's missing too?"

"Too? Did somebody you know go missing?"

"No."

"You're lying."

"I am not."

"Yes you are."

"Am not."

"Are to! You're rolling your eyes. You only do that when you lie. So who are you looking for?"

Nicholas sighed.

"If you must know Lilith has disappeared. I made the foolish choice of assigning Davi to keep an eye on Lilith while I attended to some business. When I came back Lilith was gone and he threw himself at my feet and begged me not to kill him. The little fool. Anyway she's been taken and now I have to find her."

"Are you sure she was taken? Maybe she ran away. I know I would run away from you if I was in her situation."

"Ha-ha, very funny. No she wouldn't run away from me at least not without telling me. Something happened."

"So both Frida and Lilith are missing? Maybe there's a connection."

"No kidding Sherlock. What I find so confusing is that I can't smell her scent."

"I can't smell Frida's scent either and I'm getting really worried."

"I can understand why someone would take your friend. She's a rather annoying girl with a large mouth."

"Hey she is not!"

"But why would anyone want to harm Lilith? She's just a regular human girl who's never bothered everyone."

"You sure do care a lot about her huh?"

"My father assigned me to protect her."

"Oh come off it you care about her way more than you let on. I think you might actually have a little crush on her."

"Are you insinuating that I harbor romantic feelings for a human girl? That's ridiculous. I'm not like you and Uncle Rodolfo, I don't find human women appealing in the least."

"Right..." Manny said not believing a word out of his cousin's mouth.

"I hear the sarcasm in your voice. I do not have feelings for Lilith. That aside we have another problem."

"What is it?"

"Davi found out what kind of person is needed to bond with the crystal."

"I know too. A human who can create life and resurrect it. But that kind of human doesn't exist."

"It's a human who can give life and restore it. Not create life and resurrect it."

"What's the difference?"

"A huge difference. There is no human on earth who can create life but there is a common type of human who can give life or should I say give birth."

"Give birth? You mean a woman?"

"Correct."

"So a woman who can resurrect life. Isn't resurrection impossible? At least for humans."

"Not resurrection you idiot! Restoring! You know restoring life? As in save life, heal life, restore the body that's been damaged by injuries and/or illnesses. In other words a woman who can heal."

"Oh...Oh! Oh no! Oh God! Frida! She's a woman and she can heal things!"

"Oh yes she does...Oh boy that's not good."

"Oh no. You don't think that...That Frida is..."

"It's possible. She does seem to fit the profile of a suitable host. She's female, posseses healing powers, of course so does her mother but I think the crystal would prefer a much younger host."

"What exactly does this mean? Please tell me that it's not as bad as bad as it sounds."

"I'm afraid it is. To put it blankly it means that if Kane and his band of lunatics find out that girl is the host they need they will find her and use her to revive Diablo."

"But what will happen to Frida if they do that?"

"Honestly...I have no idea but I'm positive that it's not anything good."

"We have to find her! Right now!"

"Hold on don't panic. Panicking has never helped anyone, just ask the people who rode the Titanic I mean if any of them are still alive."

"That's not helping."

"Look the point is we musn't panic. Now I'm convinced that whoever or whatever has taken Lilith has also taken Frida so we just need to put our heads together and find them."

"But how? We can't smell either of their scents."

"Yes that does put a damper on things. Well I suppose we could see if Davi could come up with something. He's smart, hopefully smart enough to help us find them."

"I doubt that considering that he couldn't even keep on an eye on a little girl how is he supposed to help us."

"Technically she's not a little girl anymore. Actually she's seventeen, Davi managed reverse the aging on her."

"Oh...Still I don't think he'll be much help."

"Well do you have any other ideas?"

"No."

"That's what I thought."
