Dinner:

Me: "How was your day, Elma?"

Elma: "I corrected all the bugs in the new program. Kobayashi-san praised me. Hue hue hue. Can you pass the salad?"

Me: "That's really good. That will reduce your workload now. Haru, how was yours?"

Haru: "Shinji asked me to play with him after school. Oh and we have Science homework but I don't know what to do."

Elma: "Woah. Glad to hear you two are getting along. It took me a while to get along with Tohru."

Me: "What's this Science homework about?"

Haru: "We have to make something and bring it to class and explain how me made it." He looks a little nervous.

Elma pats his head. "Well, I'm sure Mommy Nai will know what to do. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Science."

Me: "It's not a science degree though. I majored in business. But we will help you, Haru-kun."

I looked at some videos of making a volcano which seems easy. I remembered having to do one for school. My dad helped me.

Elma: "Ah this brings back memories of fighting with Tohru at Mount Vignette in the other world. That volcano erupted the next day."

Me: "What? That's dangerous as hell. I hope no one got injured."

Elma: "Luckily no humans were around. We heard a noise and made a run for it. We had fun racing that day. Although I don't think the volcano would do much damage to a dragon."

Haru: "Mommy Elma, who won?"

Elma: "It was me of course. Or I think we had a tie."

Me: "So I have everything we need to make the volcano. Haru, please scrunch up this newspaper and tear them into smaller pieces for the papier mache."

After Haru does so, I wrap the newspaper around an empty plastic bottle. We all layer it with newspaper until it takes the shape of a volcano.

We let it dry on the balcony for an hour.

Elma: "It's dry. Haru, do you wanna paint it?"

Haru: "Yes. I'll go get my paint set."

Haru paints it with orange and black acrylic paint.

Me: "It's starting to look like Mount Fuji. Nice work, Haru."

Elma: "I read Sakurajima erupted last November."

Me: "Hm that so? This is a waterproof varnish I placed. Time for the magic. Let's get this in a big tray. Haru, can you hold this funnel over the opening for me?"

I add 3 teaspoons of bicarbonate soda, hot water and food coloring mixture. Lastly, I add vinegar.

Elma: "Voila. It worked"

Haru claps. His eyes light up when the volcano erupts. Lots of pink fluid poured out from the volcano.

I high-five them. "Good job, guys!"
