Astrid POV.
When I heard the sound of lightning striking on the other side of the fort i now knew that was the signal Dom was talking about.
"Ok so how are we going to get over the wall" i asked
"With this" he said pulling out that chain thing i took from him.
"How is that supposed to support the both of us.
"While it's been made out of some really strong stuff and if it can hold Shave I'm pretty sure it can hold the both of us.
"Thay reminds me how is it that she's so big. I've seen pictures of tigers and she's clearly not normal.
"For all you know that just how tigers are.
"I have my doubts seeing that she's as big as toothless and was able to pin Hookfang to the ground. Tells me she's not normal.
"It's a difficult story to tell.
"Why is it so difficult to talk about.
"Because it evolves Ash and I still have a hard time talking about her." He said with a sadden look on his face. Then in a moment it changed" Look i now your here for you own reasons and it's clear that you think i have the answers. Maybe i do maybe i don't so to help you out I'll give you two choices.
"What are the choices.
"Choice one, I can answer three about anything you want. But I will not answer any questions that involve my past.
"And the second one.
"Choice two, Any story you want to know from past I'll tell you.
"Do i have to choose know.?
"No you can decide afterwards but for right now let's focus on getting in finding this guy then getting out.
He turned to the wall and started spinning his chain around then through the chain at the top of the wall. To my surprise the spear end went into the wall.
He pulled at it to make sure it'll stay in then looked at me with a confirming smile" Hop on my back.
I did as he told wrapping my legs around his waist and holding on to his shoulders. While I was holding on I got a good feel of his strong shoulders it felt like it was made of rocks.
I was so lost in the feelings I didn't notice that we were already at the top of the wall until he said something" Earth to Astrid you there.
"Wa...o yeah im ok... what happened.
"Were here you can let go now.
I noticed I was still on his back so I let go now on my feet" I knew that. So whats the plan.
"You see the big building right there " he said pointing at what looks like a great hall.
"Yeah.
"The man I'm looking for is somewhere in there probably being guarded. So while they're distracted with the dragons, we sneak in between the huts and get as close as possible.
"What if we run into anybody.
He didn't say anything just put on his mask" like i said before don't hesitate." With that he jumped off the wall landing on a hut then landing on the ground. He looked up at me waiting.
I followed behind his steps eventually landing next to him" Your form is sloppy and unbalance we'll work on it.
I was about to say something until he put his hand over my mouth. Then jesterd me to follow so I did.
We were walking between the huts as quickly as possible without making noise. A few times we had to stop and let some of the men trying to stop Banshee and Stormfly who most likely destroyed most of the ships and dragon defenses.
We were walking then we stopped" Why we stopped.
"Were getting close to the Hall.
"Ok...isn't that a good thing.
"I would say yes but take a look.
I looked around and saw nothing only a few huts, what looks like a forge, then a straight run to the hall." I don't see anything and there's nobody watching the entrance.
" It could be a trap you don't know, what could be out there... we stay and wait for a moment... Enough Waiting" I said walking out from behind the hut.
"Astrid what the hell are you doing.
"Showing you that there's nothing out there.
"Get back before something happens to you.
" There's nobody here Dom, there all out trying to stop our dragons. We can just walk right inside.
"Astrid get back here now.
I Ignored him and kept walking until I tripped over something. I looked at what tripped me and saw that it was a small string.
Realizing it was a tripwire I sprung to my feet with my axe at hand looking left and right readying for what is to come. When i looked up my heart stop cause fly right towards me was hundreds of arrows giving me nowhere to go i closed my eyes readying myself for my end to come.
I stood there for a moment waiting for the pain of the arrows but nothing happened. I opened my eyes I was surprised and horrified to see that right in front of me was Dom.
He turned and what i saw made me want to throw up. He's entire front was covered in arrows. From his legs to his chest, the only spot not covered was his neck and head because of his mask.
"MEN LOAD THE BALLISTAS" I heard one of the men yell.
"Come on move" Dom said pulling me to the forge. We ran inside then close the door just in time to block the arrows from hitting us."Stay low and don't move.
"How...how are you still moving.
"What do you mean."he said looking lost.
"The arrows in your body, how are you still moving without being in pain.
He didn't say anything just looked down and saw what I was looking at. He looked annoyed and to my surprise he started pulling the arrows out, not even flinching" Danm it goldie locks why didn't you just lesson to me.
"Don't change the subject, how are you still moving you should be dead.
"Astrid we don't have time for this we got to get rid of those ballistas" Just then a arrow much lager then before came right through the roof. Coming a few inches from my head" And fast before this place get some more holes.
"Why not call the dragons.
"If we call them it'll be open season for the them. Plus the dragons don't know were we are and I don't want the chance of them setting this place on fire or getting filled with holes.
"So do you have a plan.
"I do where's your axe.
"Right here"i said showing him.
"Good. Hold it out of the forge window have the flat side ponting towards the hall.
"how's that going to help.
"Just do it.
I don't know what he's on about so I did what he told me. I saw that he was looking right at my axe with focus" what are you doing.
"I can see them from the reflection of your axe.
"Really how many do you see.
"Six ballista men, seven axe and sword men.
"What about the archers.
"It was a spring trap clever bastards, I'll have to pay the guy who made these defenses a visit."He then went to one of the walls and grabbed a big shield, a bow with the arrows from his body" you good with a bow.
"Yeah my mother made sure of that.
"Good were going out there. Im going to hold up the shield stay behind me and take out the men shooting the ballistas.
"What if the axe and sword men come at us.
" Then the men on the ballistas will stop and join the them.
"Then what, will be out numbered.
"Well if someone decide to listen to me we wouldn't be in the shit hole now wouldn't we.
"First, you'll still be out numbered and second fuck you.
"Time and place blondey" he said while putting some of the arrows in the back of his pants" you ready."Offering me the bow.
I grabbed the bow from his hand and readied a arrow" Always.
Then Dom kicked open the door of the forge running out with the shield, i followed right behind him arrow at the ready and aimed at one of the men on the ballista and shot the arrow hitting him in the neck killing him before he hit the ground.
I was so shocked to see so much blood come from that man, It was my first kill I would have thought it would've have been easy, just a cut or a stabe and the person would just fall to the ground and that's it nothing special, I've seen people get killed all the time, from the dragons raids, to fighting the Outcast and Berserkers.
Death is not new to me and I would say it apart of my every day life, being out here and helping take down the dragon hunters. But the one thing i can say is that I have never be the cause of somebody's death before and to know that your the one that took somebody's life it doesn't feel right.
This felling im getting in my gut knowing that this is what it would take to kill makes me wonder, how could anybody do this, Stoick, Gobber, mom, Dad, Heather, Dom. How could anybody live with thereself knowing that they'd have taken a life how..."ASTRID FOCUS.
I was cut out of my thoughts when I heard Dom call out my name" Astrid are you with me, cause this is not the time to hesitate, let me know right now"he said looking me in the eye. It took me a moment then i stoned myself and nodded" Good now take out the rest.
I'll deal with my inner problems another time right now im needed.
Taking another arrow from his back i aimed it and fired it, like the last one and hit my mark going right into the man's eye. Sadly before the man was hit he shot the ballista followed by the other three.
The lager bolts came right at Dom and his shield" This is going to hurt like hell" He said worried.
I watched as the bolts went right through the shield he was holding and right into his legs and chest. He let out a inhumane like cry of pain, it sounded all most demonic.
"Dom are you o...JUST FUCK IT" He said with anger.
He stabbed the shield into the ground then turned towards me. What I saw would make anybody blood go cold. His eyes wasn't the soft green i remember, it was a blood red felled with so much hate and rage.
He grabbed the bow and arrow from me and loaded three arrows at once and shot it, hitting the last three men on the ballistas." Grab your axe and follow me or stay here i don't care" was all he said then jumped over the shield with his sword in hand and ran at the rest of the men who were charging at him.
I didn't know what to say i just stood there and watch in horror as I saw Dom, cut, stab and dismember men who came at him.
None of them stood a chance. He was to fast for them to keep up, he was to strong for even the biggest one to keep him down ,There was no skill in the way he was fighting just outright and untamed rage. Which made him sloppy and some of the men got some deadly hits in, a cut to his aims and leg, a stabe to he's chest and back that should have left him lmmobile and slowed his movements, but none of it even phase him, he only got angrier like a wild dragon.
I hard what sounds like a horn and saw that one of the men that was close to death used it probably to signal more to come. It didn't last long when i saw Dom jumped up and land on the man's head crushing it like a watermelon living nothing but a bloody meat puddle.
I have to say something, I have to do something. I can't just stand here like a statue and watch him tear them apart in a blind rage, all it would take is a lucky shot and he was dead I have to stop this...but my body won't move, I can't explain it but something is keeping me here in this spot, it feels like someone is holding me back and keeping me away from what Dom is doing to them.
Then I looked to my left and saw forty more men coming at him"MEN LIGHT THE ARROWS AND FIRE" On of them said. I saw them light the arrows with touches then they took aim and fired at Dom. And like before the sky was filled with arrows coming down at him all of them on fire guaranteed to set him a blaze.
I watched as the arrows came down and hitting him entertaining his body, some going right through him, it was horrifying seeing all of that and the worst part is that. Is that i had a feeling that none of that was enough to stop him.
When the hell of arrows stop all that was left was a few burning huts and the bodies of the men Dom killed. Along with the bodies i saw that Dom was one of them, arrows covered his body, the fire from the arrows Borned away his vest leaving him in nothing but his scarred filled chest, some were even able to get into the eye holes in his mask, i stood there just looking at what was just a war zone and yet I still wasn't able to move, with the look a horror on my face at what I just seen.
That all changed when I saw what would forever be in my nightmares. Dom started to get back up the arrows still in his body. I and whoever was watching this happen. what was supposed to be a dead person was now standing back up, all of the arrows still in his body.
Then what couldn't be explained the fire's that was around the area started moving like a snake across the grind towards Dom. from the fire's from the huts, to the arrows on the ground, even the fire's that Banshee and Stormfly course were moving, I got out of the way of the moving fire, realizing that was the first time that I moved from that whole thing.
The flames were now moving around him in a circle, the flames were so hot i could feel it from here and the bodies that were on the grind were now slowly turning in ash, it was unbelievable what I was seeing.
I was now able to move, but what's the point, what do I do. If I get close I'll turn into ash but if I do nothing, I don't want to think what will happen so what do I do.
My question was answered when out of nowhere lightning struck the forty men that was frozen in the same shocked like me, all that was left was mark's on the ground were they stood.
I looked up and saw Banshee and Stormfly was landing next to us, Stormfly came over and nuzzled me " Hay girl how was your part of the plan.
"It was great, they didn't stand a chance with me and banshee taking out their defenses, while you and your future mate took them from behind" She said
"O ok that gre...wait Stormfly are you talking to me" I said hoping I'm not going crazy.
"Yes I am is there a problem.
"Wha...how...when.
"Your mate didn't tell.
"Mate...?who are you talking.
"Him, the Dragon born seeing that your able to talk to me, he must have bonded with you.
"What are you talking about...and what's a Dragon born.
I noticed she looked suprised" Wait are you saying that he didn't tell you.
"Is there something I'm missing" I asked.
"I said to much, I'm sorry but I can't say more. your mate will have to tell you... here he comes" she said looking at Dom approaching with Banshee behind him.
He just looked at me, with the look of worry and guilt on his face" Umm are you alright." He said looking down.
"Yeah, how about you.
"Im doing better.
"I can see most of the cut and stabes you had are gone.
"Yeah, that happens alot.
"I can tell. that was some show you put on.
"I don't like to get like that.
"Seeing what you did to those men I can tell.
We stood there for a moment, a awkward silence between us" Look Astrid i know you have a lot of questions and that's fair of you to have them, but can you wait tell after were done." He ask.
"I can wait.
"Thanks.
We made it to the hall and find that it was opened. We walked in slowly expecting traps. But was surprised to see nothing in the hall except for what was a throne.
"There's nothing in here but a throne." I said
"Why would the humans go through so much hard work to protect a alpha resting spot" Stormfly asked.
"Maybe it made out of something special" Banshee asked
"Were not here for that, were here to find the asshole who has the info i need." Dom responded
I don't know, but something is telling me to pull out my axe and get ready, and so I did" Astrid what is the problem" Dom said.
"I don't know but something's off about all of this and that we just walked into something we'll planned.
"O if only you knew" A voice said.
We did have time to reach when out of nowhere a wall of fire surrounded us blocking off anyway of escape.
The Dragons was going to help but out of nowhere Banshee and Stormfly were pin to the ground by Dragons that looked just like the dragon from the beach, but one was dark orange with a black underbelly and the other was a Yellow with green strip and a gray underbelly.
"Stormfly" I yelled readied to jump past the flame to help her but was stopped buy Dom" What are you doing, i have to save her.
"And get yourself killed. You'll burn alive before you get half way through.
"I'll listen to him if I was you." The same was said
"Show yourself coward.
"If you insist" the voice said, then out of the shadow came a dragon that looked like the two but was twice the size of both. It was covered in scars and cuts from the top to bottom, it was dark brown with a black underbelly. He walked towards us and looked at me and Dom with hate." Well well it been some time Dom how's it been.
"Dom you know this guy" i asked but I didn't get a response only savage growling. I looked at him and saw he looked different. He looked bigger, his eyes were a red as blood, his hands were now shape claws and his teeth looked like it could rip gronkel iron in two." Dom what is going on with you.
"O he's fine just a little unhappy to see me is all.
"That's is a understatement Ging.
"I know it is. But it doesn't matter cause your no angel to judge.
"Let our Dragons go you freak.
"O your words hurt me little girl. You do know judging by looks will get you nowhere in life. Plus your Nadder will not be a problem if we let go. Its that Skrill that will give us hell. So that will be a no.
"Shut up with the games Ging what do u want.
"It would be easier to tell you but no my plans are still in the baby stage but In time it will grow. But for right now i need some thing's from the past that will help succeed my future plans and you not knowing is something I want to keep for right now.
"What do you want with us." I asked
"O it's not you that I want" he looked at Dom with a smile" It him he is more important then he knows
"What's that supposed to mean." Dom asked
"Your don't know do you. Not suprised your uncles never told you and Mai and John wouldn't even let you know you know.
When be said that I could feel the flames get hotter" DON'T YOU EVER SPECK THERE NAMES YOU MONTHERFUCKER" Dom said with a spearheaded tail coming out of him and aiming it at the dragon.
"And there it is that fames Lee rage. You are a spitting image of your mother. You have her fire and her hard work and drive. But you have the face a that weak sick dog that's holding you back.
"FIGHT ME THEN AND I'LL SHOW YOU WHO'S WEAK" Dom yelled which made the flames hotter.
It was getting so hot i was having a hard time breathing and Ging noticed this" Carefull Dom you don't want to kill your friend.
Dom looked at me with look of guilt "Sorry Astrid.
"Now Dom I have things to do so here's what going to happen my son's here are going to escort you and your friend down below and your going to stay there while we go.
"And if I don't.
"Remember Dom your fire proof she's not, and if you try anything, after i deal with you, I'll have you watch as my son's have there fun with your friends then kill them when there satisfied starting with the Nadder.
"IF ANY OF YOU TOUCH MY DRAGON I'LL SHOW WHAT 300 YEARS OF DRAGON KILLING LOOK'S LIKE.
"O You have some fire in you. I can see why May was so intrested in you vikings the fire you have is so close to dragon's it's hard to tell you apart. "he said getting close to me, stepping into the fire.
"LEAVE HER ALONE" Dom said.
"If you move I'll kill her and use her body as a cock ring then rape your Skrill friend" he said which made Dom take a step back." Good now hold still this will only take a second" he said putting a claw on my head.
What was only a second felt like years. I watched as I saw all of my memories play i front of me like a race. I try to stop it but it only made the pain I was feeling get worse so I didn't.
Then it was over and I feel to my knees, not being able to stand." W...wha...what did you do...to me
"Just got some information and to my surprise, Dom here has found a special somebody.
"YOU LEAVE HER OUT OF THIS, I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU DO YOU STAY AWAY FROM HER" Dom said now in his face
"I'll let you have your" He paused then looked at me with a knowing smirk" False happiness and I'm sure my son's one's i tell them to will gladly let you have that. But it's sad really You and my daughter would've made the strongest children, I'm not at all surprised though, the apples doesn't fall far from the tree.
I noticed that my vision was getting worse i couldn't keep focus and Ging saw that" Well look's like somebody is getting sleepy, it about time for me to go" and with those words i felt like i was hit by a hammer then all i saw was black.
And Done. I like this chapter it setting alot of thing's up for the future and I have some bigger things for Dom.
