A/N: One thing I love about sharing this with you all is I feel as if doing a DS 2012 fic, is a bit like Captain Picard finally showing up to the poker game in the last episode of ST: TNG. He says to everyone, "I should have done this a long time ago…" and Deanna Troi assures him, "You were always welcome." Yes… I think I'll just presume that for now. (But feel free to tell me!)

Chapter 16: Getting Started

Buzz Hackett, well-fed and already suited to his mode of transportation, led Carolyn Stoddard, less well dressed for the role, toward where he kept his motorbike near a shed by The Old House.

Elizabeth Stoddard had sped-walked after them, "Buzz!"

"Yeh?" Buzz answered.

"Are you sure you wouldn't want to take the Chevy?"

"Your Chevy? The Family Car?" he asked.

"Yes," Elizabeth countered.

"Why? Are you uncertain as to how well I drive the bike with a passenger?"

"No," Elizabeth nodded, "I simply felt Carolyn could have the car radio with the Chevy and," she smiled, "in that way, she wouldn't be deprived of her music, which I know show loves."

It was Carolyn's turn to smile, "Aw, Mom," she said, "I think I'll be okay with the music of the bike engine."

"As long as you're sure, Carolyn," Elizabeth expressed.

"I'm sure," Carolyn nodded.

Elizabeth continued, "Also, when you see the Professor? Refer to me as Elizabeth Collins. He'll understand what that means."

"Okay… " and Carolyn took a happy breath, "Thanks, Mom."

"And when Buzz turns," Elizabeth pointed out, "Lean with the bike!"

'Oh?" Carolyn asked.

Buzz smirked, "You've been on one before, haven't you, Mrs. Stoddard?"

"I surely have," Elizabeth affirmed, and then turned on her heel, as well as it would turn in the forested dirt, and walked back to The Old House.

"Come on," Buzz pointed, "It's right over there."

"Ah," Carolyn remarked, seeing the bike, "That looks street worn and fancy enough."

Buzz sighed, "The highest quality that money can buy, as you likely recognize."

"I do," Carolyn admitted, "Looks like we're of similar stock, Buzz; Supplied with the best of funds and the best of intentions, but we're not conformist enough to make up for it, eh?"

Buzz blinked, sharp features and wide glowing eyes appreciating his companion, "It's true. A world of wealth manages to mean so little when the heart starves for more…"

"Too true," Carolyn confirmed to Buzz.

Buzz pulled the motorbike toward the road.

"You're going to get on to this thing, right?" Buzz asked

"Right!" Carolyn asserted, eyebrow rising.

'Really, it's not that big of a deal, Carolyn. We're going to ride this all the way the University of Maine in Orono, and you aren't going to complain, are you?"

"Why should I?" Carolyn asked, "Looks like an adventure, really. And I know exactly what to tell the people there. They won't hush me up with all that scholastic bureaucracy, you know. Needing appointments and wanting it all done-accordingly. No. If Professor Stokes is the man my mother told me he is, he'll be interested in us far more than pop quizzes or The Library of Alexandria today."

"All right, babe," Buzz asserted, "I just want to make sure you're cool with this voyage to find that Professor Stokes your family was so interested in finding."

Carolyn grappled Buzz's midriff as she sat behind him on the motorbike, "If I find out more about you on this journey? I'll be more than happy."

Buzz kick-started the engine and proclaimed, "So will I!"

The motorbike sped off on its way, carrying two werewolves through a broad daylight that could not harm either of them.
