Chapter 17: What Next?

Elizabeth Collins Stoddard went into town.

This was not done well of our mistress…

First off: she had to collect what little paperwork was available to reach whoever was astute to Collins Enterprises, next she had to make sure those types were invested in Collins Enterprises, and thirdly, she had to be sure they had NO loyalties to Angel Bay, for sure.

Thankfully it was Captain Clarney who stepped forward and made Elizabeth distinctly aware of this issue.

"Elizabeth Collins Stoddard?" he asked of her when she ventured into town.

"Yes, Mister Clarney?" she asked.

"You know… there is such a thing as loyalty… I presume your cannery shall need all the seafood you can supply from your suppliers, yes?"

"Yes, Mister Clarney. Go on," Elizabeth nodded.

"We have been catching a mighty supply," admitted Captain Clarney, "And I would rather sell my soul to Satan than sell another fish to Angel Bay. I hope you would be obliging enough to allow me to sell them to you, Mrs. Stoddard."

"Absolutely," nodded Mrs. Stoddard, "I hope you shall understand where to receive this seafood."

"Oh, well," Captain Clarney clutched his hand to his heart and admitted to , "The supplies are as follows…"

Elizabeth took down his considerable understandings and made good to come to an understanding about them.

"I hope we are aware of each other," expressed Captain Clarney.

"I do believe so," Elizabeth Stoddard admitted.

"And so, I shall wish you a good-day."

"Good-DAY, Captain Clarney!"

"Good-DAY, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard," he confessed.

As Elizabeth reached the bank, the Sherriff, Bill Malloy exited and greeted her, "I warned you it wasn't going to be pretty…"

"Thanks, Bill. I didn't believe my entering here today would be anything remotely pretty."

"I just wanted to prepare you." Bill admitted.

"And so you've prepared me. Can you step aside now?"

"A-yuh," Bill nodded.

And so Elizabeth entered the Collinsport Bank in all assurance nothing she witnessed would be "pretty".
