AN: Hello readers, it has been a while. So finally, I bring you the next chapter of Crossing Boundaries. Sorry for taking so long, college has been eating up a lot of my time, but I finally have some time to write. Also, I hope all of you are healthy and staying safe, cause this virus stuff is whack.
Anyway, on with the show!
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or DOTA 2.
"Summoning Jutsu!" With a yell, Naruto slammed his hands into the ground. A massive cloud of smoke filled the clearing. The moon shone bright in the night sky.
Naruto stood still with baited breath, sweat, running down his forehead and back, his body brimming with anticipation. His mind was racing, wondering who or what he summoned, and if they would be friendly or not.
As the dust cloud still hung in the air, a flash of light blinded Naruto, causing him to cover his eyes. As he blinked away the spots in his vision, Naruto realized that the dust had settled, and a bright light lit up the dark clearing.
Standing a few feet away from Naruto, was an old man, clothed in shining white robes and a white cap, riding a brilliant white stallion that had a metal plate on its face. The old man was holding a long staff, that ended with what appeared to be a spear tip attached to a round circlet. (Guess who. Also for all DOTA characters, I will always go with their default appearance.)
Naruto stood in shock, not understanding what he summoned. "Aren't all summons some type of animal? Kakashi-sensei summons dogs, so what kinda summon is this?".
The old man looked around at his surroundings, visible confusion on his face. When he spoke, his voice was lighter than was Naruto would have thought. "Where am I? This looks nothing like the Fundamental Plane." As he gazed at his surroundings, his attention was drawn to Naruto, standing there dumbfounded.
"You there boy. Where am I? What plane of existence is this?" he questioned. Naruto quickly shook his head as he gathered his thoughts. "Uh, this is Konoha sir, in the Elemental Nations." (For the sake of this story, everyone in Naruto's world knows what their continent/world is called)
The old man glanced around curiously again. "Elemental Nations you say? That doesn't quite ring a bell. However, I don't exactly have the most potent memory." He chuckled to himself. "Though with a name like that, I'm sure the elemental spirits would enjoy this land."
The old man slowly dismounted his horse, as he turned his attention back to the whiskered blond. "So boy, tell me what brought me here. I'm sure your responsible for that, seeing as there is no other being around." He sat on the ground, as his mount went to eat grass. Naruto curiously eyed the horse, only having read about them in books, then looked back to the old man.
"Well old man, ya see, I kinda summoned you here." Naruto said, as he sat down nervously. "Ya see, here we have these things called summoning contracts, that usually let people summon animals. But when I used this contract, I summoned you instead."
The old man looked at him, stroking his beard. "Well this is indeed interesting. I certainly don't remember forming a Contract with any being. Then again, I have been existed for quite sometime." He continued pondering the idea before speaking again. "Tell me boy, who are the deities of this world?" He said as he looked expectantly at Naruto.
Naruto looked at the man and shrugged. " Not really. I some people believe in different religions and stuff, but I don't believe in that stuff." The old man slightly narrowed his eyes." And why not young man?" Naruto gave him a determined look. "Because I'm going to be Hokage, so that kinda stuff doesn't matter to me!"
The old man chuckled. "I see you are a young man full of ambition. However" he said as he narrowed his eyes. "It is unwise of you to ignore other things in life while pursuing your goals. You may yet become more knowledgeable and wise." Naruto slowly nodded his head, seemingly understanding what the old man meant.
"Now boy, I believe introductions are in order." Naruto's eyes flashed with realization before he scratched the back of his head nervously, smiling. "Oh yeah, totally forgot out that. My name is Naruto Uzumaki, and I'm a ninja of Konoha. Someday I'm going to be Hokage dattebayo!" The old man chuckled.
"You are very interesting Naruto. Very well, I am Ezalor, The Keeper of the Light, one of the 4 Fundamentals created by the Schism. A pleasure to meet your acquaintance." Naruto stared at him, visible confusion on his face. "Fundamentals? Schism? What do you mean old man?"
And so Ezalor began telling his tale, of how his world was created by an all powerful being, known as the Omniscience.
Hours of storytelling into the night, Naruto was completely enraptured in Ezalor's tale, of gods and demons, elementals and undead, mages and sorcerers, fairy-tale creatures and vengeful spirits. Everything Ezalor told of left Naruto in awe. A whole other world filled with magic and alchemy, beings of unimaginable power? It was frighteningly awesome to Naruto.
He was also stunned to learn of the creation of Ezalor and his "siblings", who were all embodiment's of the fundamental forces of the universe. But the most surprising thing to Naruto was the Ancients. How many powerful beings ended up fighting for the Radiant or the Dire for one reason or another. Though it was good to know the entire world wasn't in conflict (Unlike the previous Shinobi War he learned about in the Academy.)
"And then, I was traversing the Terrene Plane, when a flash of light not my own surrounded me, and I appeared here." A smirk appeared on Ezalor's face as he faced Naruto. "Now here I am, conversing with a young man from an entirely different world." Naruto scratched the back of his head as he eye-smiled.
Ezalor then spoke. "Now Naruto, why don't you tell me of this world? I am curious of the strange energy I sense inside of you." Naruto froze for a second in fear (He does know of Kurama inside him) before he realized Ezalor was talking about his chakra. "Well old man, everyone in our world has something called Chakra, which is the combination of someone's spiritual and physical energy, at least that's what we learned in the academy. Ya see, people need chakra in their bodies to live. Every single person in the world has chakra, but some people have more than others. So regular civilians have barely enough to keep living, while ninja have more chakra to do super cool jutsus and stuff."
Ezalor stroked his beard in contemplation. "Interesting. So this energy, chakra, is in every living being? Tell me more about these "Jutsus" and ninja." And so Naruto told him what he knew. How ninja could manipulate the elements and enhance their speed and endurance. He also told him the dynamic of the Hidden Villages, and how most countries had a ninja village to protect them. How Konoha was one of the 5 major Hidden Villages.
He even told him what he knew about Kekkei Genkai, and how different clans had bloodline limits passed down through generations. And how some had DÅjutsu like his (Duck ass) teammate. All the while Ezalor thought of how in his world, there were also some families whose abilities (magical or otherwise) were also passed down through generations.
After more explaining and conversation Naruto felt himself yawning and growing tired, realizing how late into the night it was. "Well old man, it was nice talking to and stuff, but it's late, and I have to meet my team early in the morning, so I should go." Ezalor also stood up, understandingly. "Very well. This was a very intriguing encounter young Naruto, and I certainly enjoyed learning of your world."
He called his mount, which had been lying down sleeping. As he mounted the horse, he turned back to Naruto. "While I still do not understand this "Summoning Contract", I would not be opposed to coming back and learning more of your world, as well as helping you in your endeavors young Naruto." Naruto also stood up from his spot.
"Thanks old man, I mean Ezalor. I appreciate it. And yea, maybe I can ask old man Hokage some things about these summoning contracts and how they work." Ezalor nodded his head. "Very well. Now, how do I return to my world?" Naruto then nervously scratched his head. "Uhh, I don't know?" Ezalor quirked an eyebrow. "You don't know?" Naruto tilted his head in thought. "Well, from what I heard from Kakashi-sensei, after a summon is finished helping their summoner, they just poof back to where they came from."
Ezalor stroked his beard in thought. "Really?" And with that, a cloud of smoke explode around him, and he disappeared. Naruto stare at the spot where Ezalor was, before shrugging his shoulders. "Well, I guess that works." And he made his way back to his apartment in the dead of night.
As Naruto entered his apartment and began getting ready for bed, he place the summoning scroll down next to his bed. "Man, I had no idea there was a summoning contract like this that existed." Then as he lay in bed, Naruto's mind wandered. "I wonder what else I can someone. I mean old man Ezalor isn't human, he's practically a force of nature! And his world sounds really cool but scary." And as Naruto closed his eyes, his mind drifted to sleep.
Only to wake up in cold sweat. As Naruto went to get out of bed, he realized he wasn't in his apartment. The floor was covered in a this layer of water, and the walls and ceiling were laden with pipes. It was dark all around, and reminded him of a sewer. Then, among the pipes in the ceiling, Naruto noticed a thick red pipe, glowing with energy.
He decided to follow the pipe, taking twists and turns through the weird (and surprisingly not smelly) sewer. Finally, after what seemed like ages, Naruto came into a huge room. The ceiling was so high he couldn't see it, and huge bars cut off half of the chamber, like a mega jail cell. Naruto curiously stared at the bars, before he heard a voice. "Come closer" it whispered. So Naruto slowly approached the gates, trying to peer into the darkness.
And he jumped back in fright as a gigantic set of claws slammed through the gate, mere inches away from skewering him. A cruel laugh filled the chamber as a figure approached the gate. It easily towered over him, and as it drew closer, Naruto slowly backed away in sheer horror. Standing before him was the cause of his pain. The cause of hundreds of thousands of deaths. The being of his nightmares, who he wished to never meet.
Standing before him was the might Kyuubi, in all it's Nine-tailed glory. It's demonic chuckle only served to increase his fear and panic. Then, it spoke.
"We finally meet, my dear Jailer."
AN: So I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I know it's been a long ass time, and I already hate myself not writing for so long.
But don't worry! I am back for good, and will work tirelessly to put out more chapters. please leave reviews and tell me your thoughts and ideas, I always appreciate the help or critic. Also some things I want to discuss too.
1. Yes Naruto knew the Kyuubi was inside of him, he managed to put the pieces together.
2. I haven't decided of Kurama will be male or female or neither.
3. Even if Kurama is female, she won't necessarily be a romantic interest for Naruto.
4. Also, I do not plan on introducing every single freaking Dota 2 character, there's just too many and too much lore between then for me to comfortably fit into my story. But if you guys do want to see a specific character make an appearance, PM me or leave a review and I'll consider them.
Thank you all for waiting patiently, stay healthy, and stay freaky.
